Terrible customer service. I had to wait 2 to 3 weeks for tires to arrive just prior for a long road trip. Kal Tire assured me they would arrive on time. Two hours before my appointment I receive a call that the tires didn't come and won't be coming. The truck arrived and no tires. Head office couldn't have cared less. Not the store manager's fault and he was the only one that tried to fix it. read more

Good customer service. The guy at front desk greets me by name, even though I always forget his (I go there twice a year for seasonal change). There was a screw in one of my tires. They took a look & came out with the (short) screw. No damage done. They inspected the other 3 tires & checked the air pressure on all of them (btw, Mr Lube, tire pressure is according to what's written near the driver's door, not because they're performance tires). Had a tire with a slow leak and finally realized had a screw in it.. ok.. not very observant on my part! Anyway, was losing air faster so dropped in on Saturday without an appointment to Kal Tire to see if they could repair the tire. As usual only had a few hours between picking up kids and they said they could do it. Had a lovely coffee at the McD's down the road and bought a bathing suit at Sport Chek beside Kal Tire. In a little over an hour I received a text that the car was ready. It was quoted at around $40 including tax but was really surprised and happy the customer service person waived the fee and asked me to consider buying my next tires from them in the future. What a joke!! Got a nail or something in my right rear tire on the highway. Put some flat sealant into it to get me back to town. Went to Kal Tire to get it fixed. Asked to have the right rear fixed and have the flat sealant removed so as to not affect the TPS sensor. Noticed the next day that they actually removed the LEFT REAR tire and there was even a plug in that tire. Miraculous. First, they work on the wrong tire. Second, they didn't obviously notice there was no flat sealant in that tire. Third, they didn't rebalance. It's a big tire they took off and put back on and would need a rebalance. I call them and there's no apology or acknowledgement that they screwed up, just excuses that they must have found a hole in that tire that wasn't leaking.....Then to top it off they couldn't fit me in to fix their mistake for days, and also they said they probably would need to replace the tire, without having seen the problem, despite putting a plug in the other tire!!! WTF. If you want this kind of an experience then go for it and take your vehicle here. read more

I would love to give this place 5 stars, but I have had a couple flubs from this location. They really tried their best to fix the situations though, so for that I give them credit. First of all - they don't take appointments. Despite what they may lead you to believe on the phone, they don't give a crap what time you say you would like to come in. Just bring in your car and be prepared to leave it for a fair amount of time. And if you are getting all 4 tires changed out it's going to take a long time. The plus side is - they have a courtesy shuttle. So you can drop your car off in the morning and they will take you the rest of the way to work. What went wrong? Well, this info was never relayed to me during my first visit to this shop, and there was clearly misinformation given over the phone, which left me sitting at the shop watching a bunch of other cars get serviced, while mine waited, and waited, and waited. Hours later I was finally able to leave. Also, if you book a pickup from your office, be prepared to wait, since their drivers sometimes get stuck at the other end of town. Fortunately, the manager came and got me after a half hour. What is good about this shop is their warranty on their tires. They have pretty decent prices to start with (for Canada, can't compare with cross-boarder) and high quality tires. My Nokians have been really great, and despite destroying one tire after a bad flat, I managed to get it replaced for just a small fraction of the original cost. Also, getting my tires swapped out was only $95, which included a quick inspection of the car. The staff are quite friendly and eager to please. Just make sure they did everything you asked them to do before you leave. read more

It wasn't that long ago that Kal Tire would have gotten a five star review from me but the last three visits have been horrible at best. I have gone to three separate locations within the last 6 months but I'll keep the details of each to the specific location. The Jiffy Lube up sell curse seems to be running through the city. The oil change guys are the worst and I expected better from Kal Tire. Clerk said my brake pads need replacing as they are done to 5mm. Well I said that should be about 50% still left which he agreed and then stopped trying to sell me more unnecessary crap. read more

I brought my car in to get an enormous nail out of a tire- there must be some karmic retribution for people who leave these things on the roads where others can get them stuck in their tires, I can't remember how many times this has happened over the years... Polite service, offering a free general inspection without any upselling. After the inspection the mechanic just pointed out that some fluids needed replacement which he said would be free at the dealer if I had a service package with them. To my pleasant surprise the tire repair was 'no charge for you today my friend!' Thanks guys! read more

You can't go wrong with FREE! My mom's car had a leaky tire so took it here. They were swamped and it was near end of day but they said they'd get it done by closing no problem. Having nowhere to go, I just waited watching TV and not bothering with the free popcorn. The full transparency design of the building allows you to watch Kal's guys work on your car. At first the guy said it's be like $30-40 to fix the tire so when he printed the invoice and said 'don't worry, we looked after this one for you' I had to smile. This is a very late review. Reason being, I was compensated for the trouble they caused and so I retracted my review. However a very poor service at a different location, wasted enough of my time and patience that I felt the need to forewarn others of this franchise. Read my review of the main st. location at its respective location on yelp. Below will be for Ontario. I was in to have an alignment done on my Subaru and have the front differential oil changed. Mechanic mistakenly drained my rear diff oil which I had already replaced with expensive synthetic. Of course it was refilled but only with standard grade oil. Alignment was done and paid for. I left the shop, only to return because alignment was blatantly misaligned. I checked the tire pressures because I could feel the car was riding more "rigid" than usual and I always check tire pressures myself every month. Sure enough the tire pressure was 10psi over on both left tires! when right tires were normal.... how strange I thought. Could the right side have been missed and not topped up with air? I used to be a mechanic so I was able to figure out what the kal tire mechanic did. He did a half ass alignment, test drove it and found that he did a bad job. He then tried to compensate the misalignment with tire pressure-an improper way of "aligning" the wheel to drive the car straight. Filling up air in tires takes 1min. Doing a proper alignment takes 1-1.5hr tops. I mentioned this incident to management, was compensated and was left with my still in need of an alignment. So I went to Firestone on Commercial and yes they did a good job. In fact Firestone even told me my car needed a tie rod (steering component) which I was unaware of. Long story short. Stay away from Kal Tire on Ontario AND Main street! read more

I'm glad I did my research on yelp before choosing a tire shop. I had similar experience with the fellow reviewers and it was great. My back tire had a slow leak and I took it to the shop on a saturday afternoon. The guy at the counter told me to drop the car and come back in 45 minutes. by the time I got back, the technican was in the middle of fixing the leak. at the end, when I was ready to pay for the service, the counter ask if I've purchase the tires from them. I said no, and he menioned that all tires purchase at Kal would receieve free patch up services. This time, he waived the fee! what a great surprise. If there is one thing I would recommend improving is that having the counter person explain what happen to the tire would be ideal. I had an idea that it was due to a nail but would be nice to confirm that. As well, spend a little more time going through the paperwork (what they did, what they found out, if there is anything I need to do to follow up) thanks Kal tire for the great customer service, I will be back. read more

Service advisor manage the times very bad...now is winter period. I was there at 11:50am. The happen was......After I said ok! I need bought 4 winter tires, can you do it today! He said yes, I said in 4 hrs ok! He said yes. End up it finished at 6:30pm. They want good sale ..make their company happy! They don't care customer waited too long! I have been hesitant in taking my car in to fix a leaky tire for fear that the shop would con me into buying a brand new one, but my tire had three nails in it and it is a safety concern if I keep ignoring the problem. I looked up the reviews on yelp and chose this Kal Tire location based on what has been written about the business, and I experienced what others have -- no upselling, no gouging, friendly and honest service. The technician initially did not find all the nails that I saw, and they took the car back in to double check, found the last nail as well as another piece of metal shard! The only negative in my experience was that I was told the car would be ready in 1.5 hours, it actually took more than four hours because of their work volume. But I was kept informed and it was my choice to stay and wait (there is also Canadian Tire, Mark's, Best Buy, Bank of Montreal, Superstore, Starbucks etc. nearby for me to run errands and do grocery shopping). Overall, I am very satisfied (how could I not be when the repair was on the house?) and this shop has restored my faith in the auto repair industry. I would definitely take my car there for service next time. read more

Kal Tire are masters in upselling. I came in to get my wheels balanced to correct a tendency for my car to drive to the left. They took in the car and phoned me to say that unless I replaced the tie rod they could not balance the tires. So I said OK. The next thing I heard from them was that unless they replaced my struts and shocks they would not guarantee my wheel balancing and I would probably experience the same problem I came in with. That's where I smelled the rat. I'd already gone in over $500 and didn't want to pay these guys another $500+ for nothing. So I said no, just give me my car back. THEN I took my car back to my trusted mechanic - who does not do wheel balancing - and he looked at the stats of the balancing provided by Kal Tire. He said that stats looked OK and asked me to come back in a few hours. When I returned he said that it was really just the tires that were pulling the steering, and they needed rotation. You would wonder why the "experts" at Kal "tire" would not have thought of that. Now my car steers great. My trusted mechanic fixed it for me - for FREE! read more

I took my car in recently because I noticed I had a staple stuck in the middle of the tread and my tire was slowly going flat...thinking it would be a cheap fix as per usual, the sales guy went over the quote saying I need 2 new front tires (which are new already) due to proper sizing compatibility in the front end since the 1 tire is completely destroyed and unpatchable... Costing me $375! They noticed I wasn't impressed and offered me 10 percent off. Still not satisfied I told them to take my car off the hoist so I can be on my way to my other mechanic who I quickly snuck in a convo with mid disappointment at this Kaltire (SE marine drive and Ontario street location). My usual mechanic that lives in Cloverdale fixed my tire for $33. I do not support this Kaltire and you should consider this story of mine before going there. read more

Kal tire has terrible customer service. I took my car on a work day at my own expense and in the middle of the pandemic to have my tires swapped to my summer tires. After an hour I received a call from Kal Tire telling me that they couldn't switch my tires because they were beyond Kal Tire's recommended tire age and below their recommended tread depth. When I pointed out to their customer service representative that there is no legal age limit for tires in B.C. and that the tires had more than the legally required tread depth he agreed with me, but still refused to mount my tires. The result was that I had to waste my morning and pay to Evo to and from Kal Tire just to have nothing done on my car. This all leaves me wondering two things. Who made Kal Tire the tire police and since when are recommendations actually requirements? Kal Tire refused to swap my tires even though they could not give me one legitimate legal reason that my tires were unsafe: * The tires were not below the legal tread limit * They did not have any significant cracks showing the underlying tire cordial or that were larger than legally allowed * They didn't have any side wall bulges * They were not separating. Nevertheless, because the tires were older than Kal Tire's 5 year recommendation and below their tread depth recommendation they wouldn't do the job. I appreciate Kal Tire's recommendations, but the final decision should rest with me. If you are unwilling to do work based on recommendations then they are in fact requirements. This is nothing more than a poorly veiled attempt by Kal Tire to force customers to buy new tires at a time when the average consumer is suffering significant financial damage from the COVID pandemic. In response to the Kal Tire's response. Severe edge wear and weather cracking was not mentioned as a reason you wouldn't swap my tires. Claiming so after the fact only makes you look worse. read more

My 90 year old father had his winter tires put on yesterday. I was there to put the summer tires in the back of my truck to take back to his place. Unfortunately they did not have the summer tires at there Cloverdale store. Inadvertently they gave the tires to someone else. I appreciate mistakes happen but what transpired next was unbelievable. I told the manager (Brad) they should deliver the summer tires to my Dad's because he is elderly. He tolde the tires would be brought back in 30 minutes. I told him this was unacceptable. He told me mistakes happen; I get that part. He told me I could pick up tires at place tires went to. He told me woman picked up tires by mistake. Later when I spoke to her, she told me Kal Tire gave her the wrong tires. Brad gave me the woman's address and told me she was a single mother and "it was a long story". First off, Kal Tire should have done the right thing and corrected their mistake. Secondly they should have given me her address. When I arrived to get tires, she thought I was bringing her her tires. She was incredibly upset as was I. She told me (after speaking to Kal Tire) they wanted her to go back and get proper tires. They relented and said they would deliver her tires. Unbelievable! When I told Brad that was terrible service. He told me to have a nice day. I will never deal with Kal Tire again. read more

I drove by this place with a tire leak to ask if they could repair. Drove the car into the the shop from the gate in in the back. Asked the guys working there. They said yes, they would be able to take a look but I had to park outside and talk to the front desk first. When I go talk to the front desk receptionist, he said flat tire repair only with appointment for 2 weeks ahead. Seriously? I understand winter tire change, new tires and maintenance is ok to have to book in advance. But flat tire repair... c'mon... this is a shop in the tire business, you should know flat tire is emergency... Not coming back at this place. read more

Ok, I grew up being suspicious of any shops related to anything auto. I don't need to start in on used car dealers. The stereotypes come from someplace. New car dealers are just fancier versions that are mostly out to protect their interests and not yours, but do so while giving you free stale coffee and packaged cookies. Repair shops are the worst - upselling on a regular basis. Tire dealers are usually no better. But my dealings with Kal Tire at this location have changed my views. There is hope in the auto world! (Perhaps not if you look at the auto industry bailouts down South though.) This is a new location that opened within the past year. It has all of the same selection as other Kal Tire stores. Other Kal Tire stores I've visited have had very friendly service as well. But this one is over the top. They are really customer service oriented, have a nice selection, and since they are new are very open to negotiating better prices. I recently had to replace the tires on my car and shopped around pretty carefully. I quickly decided to avoid Canadian Tire, OK, and Fountain based on reading reviews, stories from friends, looking over their product selection, and a few visits with less than stellar service. I was getting pretty burned out on the whole process and started to think maybe I'll just run the tires down for a few more months (yes, bad service and the feeling of people trying to rip me off made me want to just put it off - shame on me.). I had heard that Kal Tire is really a different experience. I was suspicious. But a few years ago I had rolled into one when I got a flat and they had repaired it for free even though I wasn't a customer - which was a smart marketing move because I remembered it and came back. Now for the actual purchase I checked them out and was really impressed. To top it off they also stocked Nokian Tyres, which are hard to find - and a wonderful choice in the rainy weather of Vancouver. As I called around to the different Kal Tire stores to ask pricing this store stuck out as being super friendly, non-pushy, and the most flexible on pricing. I came down and got the new tires at the promised price and was happily back on the road in 30 minutes. I was worried when they offered a "free safety inspection" which is mechanic talk for, "Let us find something to tell you is wrong with your car so we can sell you something else you don't need." But they did the check and they didn't try to do the usual upsells, or telling you your oil is bad, etc. They just went through the entire check and said everything looked fine. Huh? An auto shop that tells you that you don't need anything else?!?!?!?! Wow. They even had that same free stale coffee the fancy dealers have - and stale popcorn to boot! (Ok, so the foodie in me doesn't like the offerings - but it is a nice gesture.) I was really happy to see they had stools setup so I could watch them working on my car as well. I hate when these shops take your car off into never never garage land only to return to tell you something is wrong with it (while they were really just sitting around drinking stale coffee and killing time while coming up with a story). Watching the mechanics they were working hard, efficiently, and seemed like a really good team atmosphere. They seemed happy with their job! Top that off with Kal Tire's standard care which is included free of charge with tire purchases. This includes free road hazard protection where they repair flats free of charge for the life of the tire. If the tire needs to be replaced they pro-rate it based on the rated life and only make you pay the difference. They also throw in free rotations as often as you like, and lifetime balancing on the original assembly. Huh? Free things without buying extra warranty coverage that is ridiculously priced? Wow. They even encourage you to come back after you drive for about a week to hand tighten the lug nuts and make sure everything is ok with the new tires. No upsells on that visit either. They just quickly looked at everything, gave a few twists and sent me on my way in about 5 minutes (no waiting?!?!?!). Wow. They have a customer for life. read more

One of the tires on my pickup truck had a slow leak. The first place I took it to, took off the tire, visually inspected it and said they couldn't find the leak. The second place took off the tire and off the rim, said they fixed it (grind the rim to fit the bead), but it still leaked. I took my truck to a Kal Tire close to home; however, their lift wasn't big enough for my F350. They recommended the Kal Tire on Ontario. I took it there, they found the leak and fixed it! I was really happy. I highly recommend this place, especially if you have a truck and other places can't lift it. read more

I sent my girlfriend to Kal Tire to buy a 4 new tires as she had a spare(one of those little dinky donut spares) due to a flat. Within 5 minutes of being there she pressured into ordering top of the line Nokian ($1000) tires for her older model Pontiac. The man was very friendly (obviously an act) and stated that she was in good hands (note: her year/model car do not need performance tires, and based off comps she should have paid approx $400 for the suitable tires). The man then stated (without even looking at her car) that she NEEDED a wheel alignment (even though she had one done a month prior from the dealership she purchased the car from). Again, feeling pressured she said okay and carried on. Right before payment, the man stated they didn't have the tires in stock, and that the tires would take 22 days to receive, also that driving with her (donut) spare for the duration of this time was totally okay. This part really pissed me off as (donut) spare tires are NOT meant to be driven hundreds of kilometres. Anyway, the 22 days had passed and she went to get her new tires. On time for her appointment, she showed up and dropped her car off. An hour had passed and she received a call stating her car was ready to be picked up. When she showed up, a 2nd man told her that they were unable to align her car due to a bad tie rod - which is complete BS- and that they could in fact fix her tie rod "for super cheap". Please note: this was all prepaid for upon their first visit (4 new tires+ alignment + "installation fee"). Based off comps (Costco, OkTire), she should have paid between $350-$450 ALL in (tires, installation etc) - she paid just shy of $1000 and didn't even have them complete the job. I'd suggest KalTire stick to tires, and if they want to act like mechanics rebrand to TieRodTire I hope this was helpful read more

i have always been happy with kal tire 3 weeks ago i bought a new set of winter tires at the fleetwood branch,told me that they cannot do a wheel alignment,needed to replace my inner tie rods.the cost was 1200 dollars,my car is a honda pilot with 80,000 km on it.it was still under warrany,so i took it to jonker honda in langley the next weekend.they said nothing wrong and did a wheell alignment.so i went back to kal tire to tell their mechanic is a scammer,my reply was they have to trust their mechanics.never heard back from them!not impressed! read more

This location on Ontario Street is by far the best. It was pointed out to me by a mechanic that the previous repairs done to my car were faulty. I decided to try out Kal Tire on Marine Drive and Ontario. Chris McIntyre explained in detail the problem with the faulty repairs done to my front breaks and Nokian tire. I received a discount according to the percentage of use on my Nokian and the breaks were completed with high quality materials. Kal went above the call of duty by topping up some of my liquids and I truly had the impression, unlike most other technicians, that Chris was working to give me the best value for my money. I will return to this location to have my Honda Civic serviced. read more

It is a '92 Lexus, one owner, serviced at the Lexus dealership for it's life, with 145,000 K. I took it to a very reputable mechanic who said there is Nothing wrong, except I need new tires. read more

I had a sinking feeling when one of my run flat snow tires developed a slow leak. They're so expensive and I didn't want to shell out just before Christmas. I took it into the Kal Tire at Ontario & Marine with no appointment. They said leave it with them for an hour or so and they'd see what they could do. I am not from Vancouver so when I had to go to a shop around here I was a bit worried that I'd find some sketchy Kal-Tire, not like the one I am used to back at home. I was extremely impressed at the staff and the care that they take to inform their clients of what is going on. Even back at home I usually have to phone to find out if my vehicle is completed, but Chris made sure he called me to let me know what they found AND phoned again to let me know my vehicle was complete!
