Scratched up my rims, made holes in 3 tires taking off the old ones that were still 80% tread and broke a TPMS sensor and said we sell new ones instead of replace what they broke. Terrible at doing alignment also, steering wheel was left untouched. Downloaded yelp just to write this because of how bad they were. read more

Don't get intimidated by the way Beacon does or doesn't have the usual customer amenities. No air conditioned waiting room with coffee and popcorn, so if this is a prerequisite, I would go somewhere else. I don't mind standing for the short wait and excellent prices. It is well worth it. All the employees are kind and courteous. I needed to replace a leaking tire and without being pushy, I was told I had another tire that needed replaced. I got a great deal on both. I paid less than $100 total for both and although they were used tires, they were in great condition. The whole experience took an hour total. I could have gone anywhere in town, but for some reason, I like the laid back vibe, that still provides excellent service and that can't be beat. read more

Confession time: I've lived in Bellingham for almost 20 years, and although we've purchased the majority of our tires and batteries from Beacon during I had never actually been to the place until last week! This is one of those places to which I was always happy to send the hubby without me - preferably dragging the kids along with him for some "guy time" while I enjoyed some peace and quiet back at the homestead. Alas, on a recent sunny Saturday trip to Lynden we decided to take a detour to grab a new battery. Beacon ain't fancy. There's no glitzy waiting room with old magazines and a broken gumball machine like at those "other" tire places. You pretty much sit in your car (if you're me) or (if you're the hubby) you wander aimlessly through the stacks, taking in the scent of rubber, until you realize you have no idea what you're looking for and eventually seeking out assistance from the helpful dudes who work there. And yes, they are helpful. And their prices are incredibly fair - especially considering the friendly service. People don't go to Beacon because they want to be wowed by fancy displays and 100,000 mile guarantees. They go here to buy tires and batteries cheap, and save a few bucks. And for me personally I'm thankful for all the money we've saved over the years by doing business with these fine folks. read more

As we were driving home to WA from Vancouver, the pressure signal of the tyre was on. We were desperately looking for a tyre repair shop to fix the problem. The people there were very friendly and helpful. One of the guy checked all the tyres and helped us to inflate the tyres to the desired level. They didn't charge me anything. During the middle of an exhausting move, we ended up with car trouble. We thought it was the battery dying, so avfriend sent us to Beacon's Batteries. It turned out to be a more extensive problem they couldn't fix, but the mechanic who looked our car over had tons of great, practical advice. We took the car to our regular mechanic, and the diagnosis from Beacon was spot on, other than a complicating factor they couldn't have noticed without a deeper dive. Our regular mechanic said they are also a big fan of Beacon's, which is good to know. You won't get fancy service here, but you will get -good- service that keeps your car on the road. read more

This place is amazing I went in expecting to spend at least 50 on a new tire cause I had a screw in my tire thought I needed a new one and I didn't he fixed and charged me 5 bucks I gave him a ten for his time! Usually it's a bit of a wait but I was in and out in 5 minutes! read more

I drive for an hour 1 way to buy 4 rims for my snow tires, the distance was so far I called ahead to ask them to check that they for sure had my size rims and was told "we have lots of them don't worry!" I arrived here at 1:30 pm and the employee said "I would like to get my hands on whoever told him that! I haven't seen any!" While waiting I was bypassed by about 3 other customers. I left the shop twice for home with a shaking at 59mph that nearly sent me off the freeway! Both times I had to limp back up the freeway a mile with my flashers on. Both times the employee had to travel to another location to find the rims. I was told twice they must have sold me bent rims! Here I sit being ignored by the staff waiting through a line of other customers to be helped and it is nearly 5pm! Sill uncertain if they have enough rims so I can make it home... employee stated he can re-balance the tires to see if it helps. I know for a fact they can tell if a rim is bent & I know for a fact my usual tire shop only needed 1 time to balance my tires.. $100 for my bill. I will never be back Update: day after I had to pay $30.38 to my tire shop to rebalance all 4 tires, the technician told me I had another bent rim and they had it installed in the front of the vehicle, he balanced the tire and switched it to the back so I would feel it less and now have to buy another rim from a local wrecking yard. They'll find a set of tires/wheels for you out of their massive inventory, and most of the staff is pretty knowledgeable on bolt patterns, sizes, widths, types, etc... Prices went up. I bought a set of tires for my truck less then a year ago for 70$ including install and when I went to get tired for my Hyundai it was 250$ with install! I can buy new tires for the same price! Waste of my time. They also had other customers leave while I was there waiting because the price of everything went up. read more

Used to use this guy years ago. Fast friendly. But just went out the other day to the old location to get tires put on my daughters vehicle. Stood there for 15 minutes while 1 employee was yelling on a portable phone. 1 Employee was working on mounting and 2 others where trying to talk a guy into replacing a used tire. Finally after being ignored for 20 minutes I asked the only guy actually working and he said someone will get to me. You know time is precious - and these guys just DON'T get it. Beacon sells used tires and batteries. You have to be selective about what you buy. I have found some of the used tires separate tread after a fairly short time. I'm not sure if this is because the tires set out on the weather or what causes it. The owner definitely tries to help you with what you want. Employee's are as most places, sort of hit and miss. But, good value for used batteries and tires. read more
