This place has great service and people. I had asked them to check my brakes while doing an alignment. When I picked up the car and asked about the brakes, the service agent realized it hadn't been done. Since the bays were full he said it might be another hour before they could get it up on the rack again but would go check with the owner who came out immediately, apologized profusely, took my keys and drove my car into a side bay they don't usually use. He pulled another tech over and the 2 of them went over the entire brake system while I watched and said there was plenty of life left in the rotors and pads. A less reputable place might have taken the opportunity to try and sell me on the need to do a brake job (75k miles since the last pad replacement). Honesty, great reputable service. They will get the brake job when the time comes. read more

This is kinda an indirect review, but I had to give kudos to the kindness I received from this shop. While I was dropping off some donations for the food bank, my distracted ass locked my keys in my car. this was so embarrassing considering I hadn't done this to myself since I was a teenager. Luckily for me though, there was Alignment & Brakes Plus right next door. There was a sweet gentleman named Kane(sp?) that came out with a locksmith kit and offered to help. He took time out of his day to help me when I desperately needed it. Based on the generous service I received from these guys, I would recommend them for all your auto-related needs. Had to give them a try after all the 5-star Yelp reviews and positive comments. I had an appointment and brought them a vehicle that was a challenge to work on due to its height. At first they thought they'd have to turn me away because there was a confusion about my appointment. Then they thought they'd have to turn me away because of the height challenge of the vehicle. But then the owner created a work-around and they were able to do the job. There was a parts challenge, but it was professionally worked through. We purchased a vehicle back in December, and the dealership used A&BP for the agreed upon repairs, which included replacing the front and rear brake pads and rotors, and flushing the power steering fluid. Back in March, we took the car to our local repair shop because the front brakes were squeaking like crazy. They informed us the brake pads were incorrectly installed. We went ahead and approved the repair and the squeaking went away. Roughly a month ago, the squeaking began again, this time from the rear. The car went into our local repair shop again (the AC wasn't working either, which was due to a bad regulator, unrelated to A&BP). Lo and behold, the rear brake pads were also ultra cheap and installed incorrectly. They even sent a video showing this. On top of that, they also sent a picture showing the power steering fluid had never been changed out. And yes, this work was supposedly "done" by A&BP because I went there and met the owner. When we approached A&BP via the dealer, we were informed "too much time" had passed for them to provide any support on these issues - even though the issues were proven to show the work was incorrectly done (or not done at all). Needless to say, anyone using this repair shop needs to exercise extreme caution. I've never had this many issues come up relative to a vehicle having repair work done, nor have I ever had a repair shop refuse to correct the mistakes they made, even if it was months ago. read more

I needed rear brakes, rotors, and an alignment. After calling for about 8 different quotes in Seattle and Bellingham, I found this place! The price was unbelievably low and the guy was very helpful on the phone, so I made an appointment for when I'd be up for a long weekend. He said he'd order the parts ahead of time. I dropped my car off, and it was done quickly. He gave me helpful information about how to get my new tires cross-rotated (I have 4WD), told me a little about my car's brakes, and I left feeling happy and more knowledgeable about my car. The prices can't be beat! I paid HALF of what it would have cost at large chain auto shops, and being able to make an appointment made it incredibly easy. Keep the money in our local economy and have a good experience, instead of waiting for hours at a large, overpriced, first-come-first serve chain. You won't be disappointed here! read more

Not only are they the best price in town for wheel alignment (I think I paid about $45?), but they are super nice. I went in on May 1st for an alignment. On May 5th, I was rear-ended. Dont bring your car here they seem friendly but dont know shit. I brought my car in for a diagnosis of my steering wheel vibrations at high speeds like 70 mph. They called to tell me it is because of my brake rotors which I was already aware needed some attention but couldn't have been the cause of the issue since I'm not applying the brakes when I feel the vibrations. So I picked up my car which suddenly had a check engine light was on and was idling very rough both two issues that weren't problems when I brought my car in. So I drove to get a diagnostic tool and its throwing coil pack issues which shouldn't be a problem since I recently replaced my coil packs. Pop the hood to be pleasantly suprised NOTICING they had taken my coils out and never put them even back in. Wtf how can you be a trained mechanic who people trust you with your cars when you make fucking repairs that arent even involved with the repair the custom wants and then forget to complete the job when handing the car back to the custom. I will never bring any of my vehicles here again and highly reccomend you dont do the same as well. read more

The man I bought my car from (used) 7 years ago recommended Shane and I've never used anyone else. I really hate not being a savvy consumer, but the truth is - I know nothing about cars and engines. Shane has been so good to me. He has never pressured me into unnecessary repairs, has stood by all the bids he has given and is unfailingly kind and courteous. More than once, I went to him just to see if my car would be okay to drive the 6+ hours to mom's house (over the pass) and he checked systems out for me. In 7 years, I've replace the timing belt, a couple of hoses, had brake work done and a few other things I can't recall. I had a great shop but it was 20+ miles away, so I tried this shop because of the reviews I read. I knew the work I wanted done and told them to do brakes all around. When I went to pick up the vehicle, I was told that the rear brakes were good. That is pretty impressive, I had given them permission (an invitation) to do the work. I guess my sterling review is as much for what they didn't do. The other great thing about this shop is that you can talk to them about the details of the work. Most shops like to keep you uneducated about your vehicle and the sense that everything's a mystery and that they work magic when repairing it. read more

I thought the guy was nice and professional(two stars worth) but the alignment was bad. About 3 years ago I bought a used car that needed new tires and an alignment. Got the tires at Les Schwab and alignment with this guy. Afterwards it still pulled to the right. I asked him about it and he said he has all the latest equipment and had no issues with the car. After 3 years of tire rotations and normal driving Les Schwab informed me that my tires were unevenly worn and I needed an alignment. The car now drives straight and is no longer squirly on bumpy roads but now I need new tires. I can not recommend this shop nor will I go back which is kinda sad because I see lots of good reviews here. read more

I found this place by googling "best brakes in Bellingham" or else I wouldn't have found these reviews. I brought in my 2002 Honda Civic for a brake check and received very good service. Shane had my brakes checked while I waited for about 1/2 an hour and then was able to get me in the next business day. He noticed that my front rotors were applying pressure unevenly and had a quick and simple fix. He was able to get me in the next business day and replace the pads, turned the rotors(in shop) and put some no-seize on the slides to prevent the calipers from applying pressure unevenly. All for $189+tax. I am also getting a bid from Shane for a timing belt and from what he quoted off the top of his head and his price and expertise is very good. He is also listed as Affordable Mopeds and Cycles but it looks like I found my new B'ham mechanic! My wife also talked to him about used vehicles in the area and he has a quite a bit of knowledge about the local used car dealers. If I were in the market for a used car I would definitely talk to Shane about it and bring it in to him for a pre-buy check. read more

Asked for a brake job.Was told rear brakes were fine. Went back for a noise issue. Told I needed rear brakes. Went back again for noise. Was told I needed new calipers. Went back again because brake pedal went to the floor. Still had a noise issue. Was told it was a rear seal. It took 7 visits. Over $1200 and still had noise. Used cheap parts. Went to another mechanic who fixed the noise and replaced rusted brake lines that I wasnt told about surprisingly. Worst experience. read more

These guys saved me. I was from out of town and my alternator went out on my 1996 Ford Ranger. I called them on a Friday morning and they said they would get me in that day. It took a few hours for AAA to send a tow truck so I didn't get in early. They replaced the alternator but said the battery was fine. A less scrupulous garage could have easily sold me an unnecessary battery. These guys are honest and truly helpful. If I lived up there they would be my only repair shop. read more
