Just left this Sephora Berkeley location (evening of 9/1). Multiple staff members on the floor were very rude as i was simply looking for a product that appeared to be "in stock" according to the website. The shelves were empty & many display palettes were missing so I needed assistance locating the item. One advisor made eye contact with me, looked at me up & down and turned away. I politely walked over to another associate to ask if the product I'm looking for is in stock and she rolled her eyes & said no and walked away. I didn't expect an explanation but i didn't expect such rude responses from those i interacted with. I am an avid Sephora shopper and extremely disappointed in my experience at this location. read more

Terrible customer service. Staff standing around taking to each other when asking for help they act put out and don't even walk to where they're telling you to go they just point. After buying items they don't even say goodbye or make eye contact. Won't go back. read more

Walked in looking for a travel size perfume. She said they didn't have anymore but didn't check the pullout drawers below the perfumes, the back or on the computer. It's really not that hard... won't be coming back to this location, poor customer service. read more

This is review for the super star team. Adam, West and Manny. They are extremely sweet and knowledgeable. I always feel comfortable, welcomed and cared for whenever I shop here. They always make sure you are seen, ask you if you need help, and give you space as you shop. Their attention to covid restrictions and rules are superb. I haven't written a review in a minute, but had to share my appreciation for the team! read more

I walked in and immediately had to walk out again -- there is an overwhelming amount of putrid perfume that immediately makes you dizzy and all the samples look opened and dirty. It's not a calm high end environment and the staff don't seem to notice. Please make it more calm play classical music clear out the aisles and clean up and please don't spray scents in the store it gives people headaches read more

Went in 2 times last month with my girlfriend. The first time staff was friendly, came up to us and asked if we needed help with anything. We ended up finding what we came for thanks to the employee that helped. Once it was time for check out we signed up for their birthday reward but they didn't have the birthday reward in stock we wanted so we were told to return at any time to pick it up even if it isn't the month or day of birthday. The second time we went in was to check for the birthday gift, we found it hard to find anyone to help us as we were looking around. So we just got in line and once it was our turn we told the cashier we're here to pick up the birthday gift. Then the lady told us that it isn't even the birthday month yet and said "who's birthday is it" "it's not even august for you to pick up" with an attitude. Not sure if the cashier was making comments about us on the earpiece but as we were walking out another employee on the floor said that we can pick it at any time but won't be able to redeem the gift on the birthday month, which we already knew! Not sure if the cashier is new or doesn't know how her job is able to do things but maybe get someone better who knows what they are doing next time! Because if the lady on the floor was helping at the register we would've been left with the birthday gift since last month when we last visited. GET HELPFUL EMPLOYEES! read more

This store is truly disgusting. There is a sense that every tube, box and bottle has been open and tried at least once. Yuck! Totally disorganized sales women, no help, very long line for the cash register- and the store was dirty. read more

This is the second time that I've been in the store where the line steadily grew with one person working the register. Today while I waited, the one person running the register needed help. Two people came and helped her and then they both left and the line continued to grow. I and, another person decided to take our business elsewhere read more

I visited the Berkeley store for Black Friday sales on 11-26-22 at 5:30 pm, at the 4 th street location to buy some cosmetics for a friend. After making our selection, with the assistance of Zoe, who was quite competent, I were informed about the option of opening a credit account for payment. I was quite capable of paying the 81.00 for the cosmetics, but the 25 percent discount was appealing as a first time customer. Unfortunately, I was declined credit through community capital bank in Columbus , Ohio for reasons unknown, except for perhaps profiling. My Fico score of 850 is quite high and has been exceptional for many years. !! I possess many credit cards with "0 " balances , and upon contacting Equifax the next morning, to determine why I was declined , I was informed that all my accounts showed payed in full, or in good standing. And that there was no logical explanation for the decline of credit by community capital bank in Ohio. I possess many major credit cards, that allow me to buy whatever I want on any given moment. In sum, Iam indeed a long time credit worthy individual who, has never been declined credit. So, naturally, I am very concerned about the rationale for my decline to purchase goods at Sephora, on credit. It appears to me that perhaps there is another agenda for determining credit worthiness, could It be that profiling is a possibility at this Sephora cosmetics store. read more

"Sephora wants to teach and inspire... while creating the world's most loved beauty community." I beg to differ. My daughter purchased a Merit face balm from a store in Florida. When we got home, she discovered the color did not match the color on the panel shelf. Today, she went to return it at the Berkeley store. Unfortunately, the receipt was missing the barcode as it had gotten cut off. Sephora refused to return or exchange it despite her having the receipt in hand from 5 days ago with the date, store location, authorization number, reference number, you name it. We also showed evidence of the transaction on her mobile banking app. They recognized it was a legitimate receipt but said they could do nothing to resolve the situation. What a scam! I've filed a complaint with customer service and will be doing the same with the Better Business Bureau. Check your products and check your receipts. This business cannot be trusted. read more

I understand staff are around to help you but they make me feel like they're watching over me as if I'm stealing. They're also out of stock of almost everything. Thumbs downnnnn read more

I've been shopping at Sephora for as long as I can remember and I encountered the rudest staff member at this location. It's impossible to get someone on the floor to assist you, and when I finally found some who looked available, he immediately dismissed me. Granted he told me that he was on break, but it's understandable I would approach him bc he was standing in uniform next to the front door. How was I suppose to intuit he was off duty?? I apologized for bothering him (women always offering unnecessary apologies) but this man was so rude about it. I felt uncomfortable remaining in the store knowing I'd have to pass by him again on the way out. I left without being assisted. I've struggled to get help every time I've visited this location. read more

I won't go into details on every single time this place has let me down but it's all pretty similar to everyone else's sentiments. 80% of the staff doesn't want to be there and what they learned from YouTube university they'll try to disarm you with. Pretty interesting considering most of the makeup I've been matched with here I've had to return or exchange because it's wrong. They talk at you and will completely stop a transaction to acknowledge a potential shoplifter before continuing. I miss the days 4-5yrs ago when the people working at Sephora had a passion for makeup. Staff they hire now are not presentable, most don't wear any makeup, hair isn't done, worst attitude. Yikes. Abagil is the reason I'll never go to this location again. She is why I won't be patronizing Sephora for a good while and why they won't be my top, go to choice for makeup and skincare retailers anymore. For the next....I'd say year or so, I'll be buying my $70 Hourglass foundation at Nordstrom, I'll buy my $30 Ilia concealer direct online, my $40 MUFE primer from their direct website , my $34 glowrecipe pinkjuice moisturizer and my $40 glow recipe watermelon toner from their website. Lets see, that's $210 every couple months that I used to spend at Sephora, not including impulse buys. Now I'll spend that with retailers other than Sephora and ULTA will be my go to if I want to pick up a palate or a lipcolor, or I'll just go online and buy it. The shipping and handling won't even bother me a little, so you can keep sending your little emails in vain and know that you should spend that money on hiring better staff. read more

Had a major birthday. The turn of yet another decade meant it was long overdue time to start taking care of my skin. Unlike a department store where salespeople represent just one brand, Sephora carries many quality brands, including some toxin free ones. I was clueless about how to begin, but expected knowledgeable sales people to help. Some dude sold me stuff that was made for women my age in years. OK. But it was wrong for my particular skin's age, a heavy greasy layer of schmutz that never absorbed. Big waste of money. read more

Michael was so pleasant! Whether you're spending a lot of money like my kids did, or just spending $12 on a Sephora eyeliner, Michael took the time to help us out. The location was clean and pretty organized. However, one of the makeup artist that did my girlfriend's makeup was disappointing, everything was not blended well, he barely touched her eyebrows, he didn't set her eyebrows at all and neither her face. The contour was done poorly and was not blended correctly, you could literally see the lines if you were to see it in person. read more

All the stars aligned on a Friday afternoon, when I popped in for a quick shopping trip because I ran out of face cream. I found parking in the lot next to the Amazon store. Joseph was patient as I asked for various samples. Being able to sample before purchasing a full-sized bottle is one of my favorite perks of being a Sephora shopper. My daytime serum was running low, and I was curious if there were others that hydrated better than my current one. Since it's a new store, it wasn't so busy, and the line was short. I liked the way the store was organized. read more

I placed an online order and picked it up yesterday 8/22/2022. When I went to the pickup desk the girls scanned my barcode and while she was getting the item out of the closet I asked her why the Dior mascara doesn't last very long. No response. I looked around the store and asked the cashier about an exfoliant, I had to ask her 3 times due to her ignoring me. I speak loud normally. When she did respond she was obviously not happy about helping me. Normally when you go to Sephora the employees have very tasteful makeup. But the cashiers make up was gaudy and WAY OVER THE TOP. I will go out of my way in the future to avoid visiting this store. TRAINING????? read more

As someone who has been a Rouge for nearly a decade, I know Sephora like the back of my hand. (I often even make an effort to visit a Sephora when I'm on vacay #BeautyAddict). Having relocated back to the Bay Area after being away for many years I made an effort to acquaint myself with the Sephora's in my area. After having multiple less than memorable experiences at the Bay Street store in Emeryville, I ended up at the 4th Street location in Berkeley. And am I ever glad I did! The store is so bright and cheery and I think it's vibe rubs off on the employees! I was warmly greeted upon entering the store and sincerely offered assistance by like three beauty advisors. And checkout was a breeze! On top of the service being better than Bay Street, 4th Street also has a free parking lot! So basically, win-w Only negative thing I can say is that Sephora has enacted a new 30 day return policy and while I was there a customer and an beauty advisor were going back and forth for way too long. read more

Whoever was at the cashier 2-3 pm on Wednesday December 5 shouldn't be working there... rude customer service is not a great way to start off a new location... my friends and I were excited to have a store close by and we had a very disappointing experience. My friend asked if she could order an item online and cashier's response was 'thats Only for members' ... she didn't offer to sign her up or provide information on what that meant...she was snappy and presented it as if it were exclusive. Overall staff wasn't very helpful... they made us feel unwelcome... I might return my items and not buy Sephora again... makeup is luxury and stores are replaceable... shopping experience is an essential part of the business... read more

I have recently taken a huge interest into perfume. As a newbie to the perfume market I love that Sephora offers a wide selection. They have sweet, natural, and musky scents. I recently purchased her by Burberry, Chanel 5, and Tom Ford Black Orchid. I love that they keep their perfumes stocked. I feel the Concord location is always out of stock. I've been here a few times now and each time the beauty professionals have been friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.I'm a quiet shopper and I don't like big crowds this location is usually not as busy during the week. Although, parking around here is terrible. The parking lots are always full and street parking is a hassle. I expect it because its near a lot of other shops. Overall, I have nothing but positive things to say. I also really love their online pickup option. Each time I have used this service my order is ready on time and the pickup is simple and fast. read more

Went in deliberately on a not busy day. I was standing near the door, looking at a display, when someone else walked in. The sales clerk immediately asked her if she needed help. No, she didn't. So the sales clerk stands about 4 feet from me, playing with lipstick on her hand. Completely ignoring me. When I said to the sales clerk that she had asked that other person, but not me, she said "oh, did you need help?" Not I'm sorry, not even some excuse. Is it because I'm not 19? I will shop someplace where they actually have grownups doing the sales and maybe cater to someone who's older than 25. Stay out of here if you're over 25! read more

Went there a couple of weeks ago. Yes the location and the store itself is nice and clean. I walked in, there were two employees standing at the door chatting. No one greeted me like at other stores.. yea that's cool ok kept walking. Given that its Berkeley, yea I can probably understand why I wasn't greeted. White women came and left and all of them were greeted. Not a single employee came up to me to ask if I needed any help, wait but the lady next to me was asked if she needed any help.. wonder why. I am a brown skinned Latina and I was dressed casually. The lady who works there with the pink hair kept going around my area while I was there trying to look for the right shade of my foundation but as she walked around she never asked me if I needed any help. Maybe next time, judge equally and rather than being prejudice maybe do your work :) read more

Omg i think this is my new fav Sephora! I don't know how to dork her name, but the beauty expert that helped me was so nice, fun and patient. I am the worst at picking lipsticks.
