Such a cute coffee shop!! It's such a big open space & they have the little dispensary right next to the coffee counter. They also have an antique shop. Definitely should check those out. I didn't have any coffee but my friends both had iced coffee and seemed pleased with it. I had the taro milk tea which was also pretty yummy. They have some food options as well. This coffee shop is my favorite place to hang and do my works. A good ambiance and not too crowded as well. It's located away from crowded streets in a container setting which also has other shops around it. The pastries that they had were so delicious. We tried their banana nut bread, empanada and both were delicious. We tried their white chocolate latte and Thai classic and both were perfectly balanced in their own ways with coffee touch to remind yourself that it's still a coffee drink. read more

This quirky coffee shop is worth a visit! The shop is a small stand inside of the larger Ironworks Marketplace, so there is plenty of seating and tables around for you to enjoy your coffee and hang/work. Service was very friendly and all drinks are made from scratch, helping add to their quality and deliciousness. I ordered the iced Pinguino, a white chocolate and milk chocolate laced espresso drink with milk that basically tastes like an adult chocolate milk. It was so delicious. Segundo is a really cute coffee shop with lots of open space for studying or hanging out. It gives off a grungy warehouse vibe which is really unique and also has lots of small shops that you can browse a selection of vintage clothing and jewelry pieces. I got an ice vanilla latte which had a great aftertaste but did not really have the vanilla flavor. However, I would definitely recommend coming to try this spot out and their pastries also look super yummy. Will be back again! read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon to get some studying done and found it to be a pretty nice place. It's located inside Ironworks, which has a bunch of small vendors inside. The theme is industrial and each vendor is inside shipping containers to match the theme. I like the concept since there is something here for everyone, whether you want coffee, clothes, or food. We ordered an iced americano and thought that their blend is quite respectable - definitely a cut above most other competitors in town. Specifically, the body and mouth feel just punched a little harder than most other blends we've had in town. We didn't get to try any single- origin coffees, but we have high hopes with this place and it definitely runs with the best in town. There's a large parking lot located next to the building. Cute coffee place off Milby St. near the old Maxwell House factory in second ward (El Segundo). They welcome cash, CC or cash app. Tacos are brought in from a third party, and they were alright. Basic breakfast taco. Iv had better. Coffee though was delicious. Outside with a few tables and no bike rack (minus one star). You can either bring in your bike or lock it up in their hand rail. Local businesses inside so shop while you enjoy your coffee, of splurge after. Off-street parking, or parking lot. Neighborhood vibe so I strongly recommend walking or biking. I had a coffee date with a girlfriend here and had a pleasant time here. It's not loud at all and very spacious, which makes it a great place to hang out and chat. I ordered the bottomless coffee! I paid 6.22 for the coffee. Everyone working the counter was very nice. My friend arrived when they were busy so they lost her order and then made it hot when she asked for it iced. Oopsie! We were able to grab a seat on the mustard colored sofa. It was super comfortable and a coffee table was right next to it and we were able to put our drinks there. Their pastries looked really good. I wasn't hungry so I can't comment on it. I live far from this place but if I'm ever nearby or need to meet a friend at a central location then I will head here again. read more

We came here because this coffee shop was located in a very unique spot. We decided to come here for the experience since it also had some other small local shops in the same location. It had a Big parking lot which made it easy to park. unfortunately, I was disappointed. The coffee was very mediocre especially for the price point. It was $6.75 for a large cup of coffee with only 2 shots. We got the honey lavender latte, the cocoloco, and the la Mexicana. The staff wasn't super friendly and one was talking bad about another staff member to which I could hear. I went ahead and ordered anyways since I had already drove half an hour. But, the cashier seemed out of it and I had to repeat all my orders twice. Maybe he was having an off day? I'm not sure but I think this place is overhyped. Granted, I didn't try the food. They do have plenty seating and alot of people were working here. But I couldn't come again for coffee. There are much better places in the Heights. read more

The first impression here is very nice.. cool hip atmosphere with a lot of people but very quiet overall. Seems like a place to hangout more than a place to study though overall. They were out of much of their meat options so we couldn't try their tacos. The lattes were very average in our opinion. I'd give a 4 star for the atmosphere but more low 3 star for the coffee. I don't think you'll be heavily let down unless your expectation is through the roof. Just realize this is a cool place to come for 10-15 minutes, and good a good latte but not an amazing latte and you will be fine. We had the La Mexican Latte. read more

I really liked it here. First, the space is perfect, I'm not familiar with 'the old ironworks' as I'm a new Houstonian, but I can see the upgrades and they're nicely done. My experience was pleasant- the associate was friendly and smiley, she gave suggestions and described things for me as I asked. I appreciate customer service Bc it's not as common anymore, sadly. I ordered a breakfast taco which was great- the fresh salsa was the highlight. I ordered a pecan croissant that was stupid good- I'm told Koffeteria makes them. I'm surprised because the one time I've been to Koffeteria, I wasn't as impressed. Happy to give it another shot. My capp was good as well- pretty latte art. Baristo shared they use Little Dreamer beans on espresso- this was my second time having their beans and I'd consider myself a new fan. I'll def be back. read more

This spot had been on my list for years. Sadly I was pretty disappointed in it. The space is vast and really neat, outlets near some tables. The coffee itself was very on the average side and costed me $7 before tip. It was too much and too ordinary. The empanada I was psyched about but it was like it was baked with no flavor on the outside or on the in. Tofu stuffed but with no flavor. I'd come back to explore the nearby stuff in the building but sadly, this coffee spot was a huge let down. read more

Segundo is a very nice study spot especially for large groups of people. Don't be sad if you don't find a spot right when you walk in-- there's a lot of hidden study spots if you keep walking behind all the shops. Coffee/and food are pretty decent, but I mostly come here for the vibes. I got a iced lavender latte with almond milk and also a Thai tea coffee-- both drinks were pretty flavorful, but definitely slightly on the pricier side. Overall, I love studying here with friends and will definitely be back! read more

First time being at a "coffee lab" and I will tell you that I'm hooked. Segundo Coffee was a pretty neat experience. The Coffee was delicious and so well presented. I was super impressed. The Staff was wonderful and very nice. After coffee, it was off to do some exploring of these labs or little companies within a company. Very cute little boutiques and awesome companies in here. On the drink menu, they don't include prices, but it is a bit on the pricier side. Tried the signature La Mexicana and Thai especial. Both were super solid. The Thai especial is Thai milk tea with added espresso, and it was a bit too sweet for me. I do normally like my drinks on the sweeter side though. There is plenty of seating for studying, and lots of natural lighting with ample parking across the street. Very interesting space with many little shops inside to check out. read more

I made a pit stop at Segundo Coffee Lab specifically for the breakfast tacos. The building has a free parking lot across the street that made this an easy stop. It took me a second to find Segundo Coffee Lab, but I didn't mind wandering around the market place for a couple minutes. I was able to order right away and opted for an iced Pinguino Latte which was ready at the pickup counter a couple minutes later. I only ordered 2 tacos, because I didn't know how big they were. The cashier only told me that they were a "pretty good size" which means "average to large" or "filling" to me. I ended up waiting for about 15 minutes for my tacos, before going back to the cashier to ask for an ETA. I guess the tacos were in a hot case, and she was able to just hand me the 2 small, street-sized tacos. The breakfast tacos were fantastic when I finally got them. Bacon and chorizo were equally satisfying. Overall a successful solo breakfast, even though the my tacos got lost in the process somewhere. Love love love segundo coffee lab!! This place is perfect for a weekend morning of coffee and shopping. I've had a great experience every time I've visited and their coffees are so good! My favorite is the la mexicana latte. The food I've tried has all been great as well. I love the breakfast tacos and empanadas. It is inside a market place, so it can get very busy on weekends, but they have a lot of seating. Outdoor seating is available as well. Came here on a Saturday morning to get a coffee and do some light work. The mocha latte i got was decent, definitely competitive with most other Houston coffeeshops. The decor for students and working people here is really Segundo's selling point, since the floor to ceiling windows and industrial vibe really comes together well. Seating and outlet availability are fine, and the place has really been making an effort to accommodate more seats--definitely more seats than when I first started coming here. Unfortunately, what ruined the experience for myself and several other patrons was that a teenager, probably a relative of an employee or a patron, was making several customers incredibly uncomfortable by shooting a toy pistol at random people behind their backs and weirdly laughing. Multiple other patrons and myself noticed this and felt uneasy, and after a couple rounds of him walking by the seating area, customers were getting up and leaving. While I can understand reasons for bringing certain people, even if he was a restaurant patron as well, this sort of behavior is unacceptable and should have prompted a response by staff. One shudders to think what could have happened if he had walked up to an off-duty policeman or veteran and popped his toy pistol behind his head. TLDR; until now, I really loved this place for its beautiful scenery, work ability, and decent coffee. Wi-Fi is robust, floor to ceiling lighting is a selling point, but the inaction of employees with this kind of unacceptable behavior ruined my own and other peoples' experience. read more

While my visit to Houston, I stopped at Segundo Coffee Lab. My favorite was the coco loco, warm. The pingüino was good but needed an extra shot of coffee. The pastries were not unique. The breakfast tacos were good, all similar in flavor, just with different toppings (chorizo, sausage, potatoes), beans, and flour tortillas. The tacos should be called breakfast burritos. The service is friendly. It might take about 5 minutes to get your order. One unique aspect of this place is the location. The space is inviting, with a few other shops to visit. Full disclosure, I've never actually had coffee from this location, but the dirty chai at the Galveston location yesterday was easily the best I've ever had and I can only imagine the quality is replicated here. This location deserves extra props for exceptional customer service. I accidentally placed a large online order today for a mothers' day brunch in Galveston, not realizing I sent the order to Houston. When we discovered the mixup, they were incredibly helpful and voided/refunded the order even though the drinks had already been made. Wish I'd caught the name of the guy on the phone. Came across Segundo cause it popped up as hot and new and I'm always looking for new coffee shops! I got the Thai especial which is Thai tea with a shot of espresso and it was really good. One of my favorite places to start the day in Houston. I usually come here with my wife to get breakfast & coffee. The tacos are always super warm & delicious, I will say they do add up when you get a couple, but overall you're getting a solid taco & the green sauce here definitely makes it worth the money. The barbacoa taco is surprisingly not greasy & I love that. Good portion, get your tacos with refried beans always. The pingüino coffee is a 10/10 for me. The sweetness is on point.
