Coffee shop located inside ironworks. Shops inside for a cute little walk with our Coffees. Coffees are pretty good. We got an abuelita latte, a regular latte with oat milk, and à la Mexican latte. Service was friendly and quick. Will absolutely come back here if back in town
Great location in the heart of Second Ward. Super close to the train station. You'd only walk about two blocks south of it. Love the mini market idea. Hardly anything is open during the week but I'm sure it's booming on the weekend. Now for the matcha...they have so many different varieties I had to try too! This might be the most matcha variety I've ever seen! The first one which was a lavender nailed it but the second one the guava was one I was curious to try but probably won't ever try it again, the taste clashed to me. Awesome food options too. I was craving a croissant with ham and cheese but they have tacos and empanadas. I loved it and even ran into a friend. I'll be back!
Segundo is located in a little marketplace-esque area in Eado. There's a large parking lot across the street, and I also saw a few cars parked on the side of the building - I'm assuming for quick coffee pickups. I got the canela shaken espresso with normal milk which is 2% instead of whole which I feel is more common for coffee shops. I could've done with a little less honey as the honey flavor was really strong, but otherwise it was a good drink. I also caved and got the chorizo and egg breakfast burrito. With some added cilantro and the green salsa, it was a very good breakfast burrito. My coffee was about $7 which is a bit up there, but I'd say any place is worth trying once! I like their variety of options/flavors and service was nice.
I came to Segundo to do work because it was about 10 minutes from where I live, and I've been hunting for new coffee shops to try. It's found in a modern, industrial building called Ironworks, and consists of several small vendors, studios, and office spaces, which is really neat! A nice third space, for sure, and there was plenty of space to lounge and work. Many of the boutique shops were expensive, though, so I'd treat them as window-shopping places rather than shops I'd actually spend money on. Unfortunately, I was pretty underwhelmed by my drink... I ordered the La Mexicana Iced Latte with oat milk, as I was told it was one of their most popular drinks. It was very creamy, not too sweet, and had a vanilla flavor. The coffee was so subtle that it felt like I was drinking straight milk at one point; I don't think I could justify spending $7.58 for how bland it tasted. Segundo and Ironworks are decent places, but I don't want to visit again.
I really enjoyed visiting Segundo Coffee Lab. I like the industrial vibe, as it's located in Iron Works surrounded by other small businesses and shops. I tried the cold brew "cafe de olla" which was strong and bitter and topped with a vanilla, cinnamon cold foam. I wanted to have it as authentic as they made it but if I were to order again I'd add in a syrup or milk base to sweeten it up a bit. They all serve empanadas which was my personal favorite! They fry them fresh so it took about 10 minutes or so but definitely worth the wait! The bread was so soft and the birria was so flavorful and the spicy salsa paired so well with it.
I love me a good cup of coffee! This place delivered. It's a small shop, that gives big flavors. Not only do they serve fresh coffee, they also have coffee options for you to purchase and make at home. In addition, they have pastries, juice/water options, and other merch to buy. If you ever stop by Ironworks, make sure to head on over and grab some coffee from them.
This place was really unique. It's inside iron works which looks like shipping container. You can add THC or CBD to drinks. They had specialty drinks like a Thai tea espresso(which is what I got) it tasted just like Thai tea. They even have pastries. Service wasn't bad but I could tell it would be hard to hear your name being called in there for your coffee.
Staff is pretty friendly and they seem to operate well out of ironworks. I didn't think anything much of the coffee. It was just.. meh for me. I also tried their beef empanada and it wasn't bad, but the shell was hard and just not a pleasant bite. I think Houston has a lot of better spots, but if you're looking for a spot to study and to be able to do a bit of local shopping, it's a good spot to check out.
I come here for this specific drink after my friend recommended it. I love it. Especially since I don't care for coffee taste and more for "how is this different in flavor," I get only one shot so if you share that mindset for coffee, this drink will satisfy you. I also get it with 2% milk (not lactose intolerant yet!) so it feels smooth but not too thick as I am a natural skim milk drinker. For their spooky menu, they have a ube coffee which was good that my partner got. I've also had their breakfast tacos and avocado toast and they were satisfying but they're in this ironworks building, other food options exist. I can't wait to move back to Houston to get this drink more often!
Segundo Coffee Lab is in a cool industrial space with a couple of other food and drink options and lots of cute local shops and service providers. There's a good amount of communal style seating indoor and some tables out front as well. I was excited to try their lattes and specials. I got one of the spring specials on their board called the Miel Rosada. It was a honey latte with rose cold foam and cocoa powder. It was overall not a bad iced latte, but the flavors were very subtle. I didn't get much honey, rose, or cocoa powder. My partner got a Thai especial latte, which has Thai tea flavor and some of the iconic orange color. Again, the flavors were more muted than we were hoping. Along with my latte, I grabbed a lemon poppy seed muffin. It's gigantic, has icing on top, and lots of poppyseeds inside. I enjoyed this more. You could probably split it among two people and be satisfied. Their strawberry cruffin was also tasty, and their counter has a variety of sweet and savory breakfast bites. Lastly, I thought the level of service and friendliness of the employees and baristas was great. I hope I can return at some point to try other drinks and bump my rating up.
I've been to this place so many times to study, and now I'm finally giving this wonderful coffee place a review. To start off, I love how creative this place gets with their drinks. The whimsical names bring me joy every time I read the options out loud. The baristas are so friendly and patient with my friends and I because we're kinda an indecisive bunch lol. Overall, I highly recommend coming here, none of the drinks I ordered were ever bad (knock on wood). Affordable drinks! Great vibes!

Love love love segundo coffee lab!! This place is perfect for a weekend morning of coffee and shopping. I've had a great experience every time I've visited and their coffees are so good! My favorite is the la mexicana latte. The food I've tried has all been great as well. I love the breakfast tacos and empanadas. It is inside a market place, so it can get very busy on weekends, but they have a lot of seating. Outdoor seating is available as well. I also just bought some of their whole coffee beans and can't wait to try them. read more
Came here on a Saturday morning to get a coffee and do some light work. The mocha latte i got was decent, definitely competitive with most other Houston coffeeshops. The decor for students and working people here is really Segundo's selling point, since the floor to ceiling windows and industrial vibe really comes together well. Seating and outlet availability are fine, and the place has really been making an effort to accommodate more seats--definitely more seats than when I first started coming here. Unfortunately, what ruined the experience for myself and several other patrons was that a teenager, probably a relative of an employee or a patron, was making several customers incredibly uncomfortable by shooting a toy pistol at random people behind their backs and weirdly laughing. Multiple other patrons and myself noticed this and felt uneasy, and after a couple rounds of him walking by the seating area, customers were getting up and leaving. While I can understand reasons for bringing certain people, even if he was a restaurant patron as well, this sort of behavior is unacceptable and should have prompted a response by staff. One shudders to think what could have happened if he had walked up to an off-duty policeman or veteran and popped his toy pistol behind his head. TLDR; until now, I really loved this place for its beautiful scenery, work ability, and decent coffee. Wi-Fi is robust, floor to ceiling lighting is a selling point, but the inaction of employees with this kind of unacceptable behavior ruined my own and other peoples' experience. read more
The coffee here is amazing! it's very close to my kids school, so I like to stop by after drop off to get my caffeine fix. my fave drink is the pingüino, made with dark and white mocha syrup. not too sweet, and just right. they also sell pastries from koffeteria and breakfast tacos from doña licha. they sell beer too! they're located inside the ironworks building. there's a large seating area, perfect for WFH or studying read more

Segundo is probably the best cafe concept in Houston- great menu (coffee, tea, CBD, alcohol, food, merch), cool staff, good playlist/environment, and easily the nicest lounge area & work spot I've been to with chairs & couches tailored for any preference you may have. There's even a couple tables outside if you want a skyline view. In the Ironworks (where the cafe is located) there are thrift shops and other stores you can walk around in. read more

While my visit to Houston, I stopped at Segundo Coffee Lab. My favorite was the coco loco, warm. The pingüino was good but needed an extra shot of coffee. The pastries were not unique. The breakfast tacos were good, all similar in flavor, just with different toppings (chorizo, sausage, potatoes), beans, and flour tortillas. The tacos should be called breakfast burritos. The service is friendly. It might take about 5 minutes to get your order. One unique aspect of this place is the location. The space is inviting, with a few other shops to visit. I liked the design and space--perfect location to meet up with a few friends. read more

Came here to do some studying and WOW - I usually come to coffee shops just to do homework or study but I gotta say, this coffee was DELICIOUS!!! Ambience was amazing as well. So many nice shops to go around and look at and the bathrooms are clean. Overall, I love it so much! read more

I've seen this place on TikTok and decided to take my mom today. I was very impressed with this place. The coffee is way better than Starbucks and the vegan tacos were to die for. A little late to the game, but finally got to check out Segundo and try out the coffee! Had the Coco Loco with oat milk and it was one of the best coffee drinks I've had in a while! Came with my two kids, and they tried their brisket empanada and a croissant which they enjoyed! Staff were super friendly and the vibe is so chill. Good amount of seating and lots of natural light which was nice. We will be back! read more

Food was delicious . I ordered a brisket taco and a churro latte and it was really delicious. Service was great as well as they were very kind and knowledgeable about what they have. Ambiance was very great as there is a dj there with different type of low fi music vibes great for studying or just chilling and relaxing with friends. read more

One of my favorite places to start the day in Houston. I usually come here with my wife to get breakfast & coffee. The tacos are always super warm & delicious, I will say they do add up when you get a couple, but overall you're getting a solid taco & the green sauce here definitely makes it worth the money. The barbacoa taco is surprisingly not greasy & I love that. Good portion, get your tacos with refried beans always. The pingüino coffee is a 10/10 for me. The sweetness is on point. And my wife can say the same about the mexicana. Great atmosphere here & the crew is always welcoming. read more

Perfect! Just perfect, okay, The "Hot because I haven't tried them cold" Mexicana and The Thai latte/coffees were extremely tasty, I can't praise them enough. The chocolate chip cookies were thick, moist and super Chocolatey, wow! My son tore up his chorizo and egg taco for a second I thought I seen his wrists in his mouth. The selection of coffee and pastries was great, there were a variety of items to choose from. I got a churro latte with almond milk which was really good and a warm honey croissant which was amazing. I happened to come on a day where the air conditioning went out or something so it was very hot, otherwise I would've stayed longer. Hopefully this was a one off thing and there is usually cold air and not just a couple fans scattered throughout. There's a good amount of seating and a couple of outlets. The Wi-Fi is free but the password is printed on your receipt, so seems like you'd have to buy something. The noise level isn't too high but there are other restaurants and shops in the building so not the place to come to if you need a quiet place to read or work. Would definitely come back. read more

This is a pretty hip coffee shop in downtown. There is plenty of parking across the street. If you enter the building, the coffee shop is located right on your left. You can't miss it. The pistachios croissants are delicious and I went back for a second. read more

The place is cute, I try to support small businesses. But the drinks are really small- I'm a venti from Starbucks type of girl and really need the boost. I wish they had bigger sizes especially for a $7 coffee. Usually too sweet as well- kick it up a notch. read more

Another cozy cute coffee shop in EaDo. Perfect place to get work done, studying done, or just hang out. It is inside the Ironworks building with a few other businesses (nail shop, real estate, tattoo shop). The customer service was excellent, the barista even made it easy for me to get some content of her making my matcha latte that was delicious btw! There is a parking lot right next to the building that has plenty of parks! read more
