Extremely disappointed with their service. They charged us a lot of money and have not seen through the work and did not get us the permits from the city they promised. They outsource work to sub contractors, who do half the job.. for instance they installed the battery according to the city rules but did not connect the battery. They installed the panels and only 1/2 the panels were working and then they charged us again to fix the other 1/2 of the panel. We wanted to get done with the approval from city so we gave in every time, but now after spending quite a bit of money with them and we still do not have permits. I do not recommend them. read more

Choosing to install Solar Power is fantastic. Trying to upgrade or repair an existing system is a a nightmare. Companies that worked on our 23 year old system are now out of business, and components we purchased are no longer manufacturered. It's crazy out there, and many companies don't want to touch a system they didn't install. I decided to Google "consultant", and was pretty frantic when I finally got William on the phone. After the call, I told my husband it was like talking to a therapist! He had empathy, and he was understanding. He also had suggestions to help us out. He found a company willing to help us, and bring us into 2023! My husband is now happily tracking our solar output with his smartphone. If You are Considering Solar, you will be Sorry if you do Not Contact SEC! I am so glad that while I was looking for information about buying solar equipment for my home that I stumbled upon SEC. William Wood, President of SEC, kindly talked me through the whole process. What a gentleman! He actually encouraged me to get competitive quotes from other providers (like the companies that work through Costco), because he knew that his prices, financing and services would out-perform an apples-to-apples comparison. And was he ever right about that! Rather than buying the lowest cost solution, we talked about solutions that would support my family's needs over the long-haul. SEC was not trying to up-sell me. I wanted to end up with the right solar panel array that would last me for years. In the end we worked together on selecting the right solar panels and the optimum inverters for our installation. SEC's installers were the most respectful, courteous and efficient workers that I have had on my property to date. They were respectful of my property and family, and they worked in a way that resulted in minimal impact to our daily activities (like our working from home). I was so pleased with the whole process, that I later reached back out to SEC to talk about a battery system that would complete my solar system. I ended up with a great battery solution that outperforms the big names like Tesla. My solar system has worked flawlessly, and I continue to get more money back from the utility company than I have to pay them. Plus, my costs are fixed; I know that when I retire, I will not have to spend a single dime more on my electricity than I am spending now. Also, my solar system has offset many tons of CO2 since I have stopped drawing power from the grid, and I feel good about that. William seemed knowledgeable in solar and the current tax laws etc. I decided to go with him to replace our aging roof and add solar. We never got as far as solar but let me tell you about our roofing experience. William recommended a roofer and contracted a fairly simple re-roof. In addition to haphazard work and poor scheduling the final product did not meet any standard roofing practices. In addition to a complete lack of attention to details we had falling ladders and cement being dumped on the busy front sidewalk. These are the things that are still currently wrong with my roof after 81 days since they "finished" working: 1. The sheet metal flashing is all a mess and wavy there are many gaps and it just look horrendous. 2. Per the contract any wood damage would be inspected and replaced at additional cost. There are multiple areas with significant damage that were just roofed over. 3. The parapet wall-perimeter is mostly unattached and very wrinkled. 4. The drain for the entire roof has 1" gaps all the way around allowing water to run directly into the walls. 5. The underlayment on many areas of the roof were not properly attached to the wood causing wrinkling. After they completed the roof both William and his roofer found all these issues completely acceptable and offered to extend the warranty. Clearly they are willing to overlook bad workmanship to make a profit. I am not a roofer so I sought opinions of multiple roofers. They have all suggested a reroof or at a minimum replacing and patching most of the new roof and laying another layer over the top. William was a great asset to our solar purchase. We were in the market for solar last year in 2021. I spoke to at least 7 to 8 solar companies until I reached out to will. I was a skeptic in getting a consultant for solar but after meeting him I was sold. He was very through with his work and provided virtual consultation. He gave me an overview of what is the best set up for me house and how to maximize me set up. He coordinated and laid out all the ground work with the solar installers. As for price, his pricing was very competitive compared to the other companies I spoke to. I do believe w got the best deal for the price he quoted us and the material we were getting. Going through this process with William was very helpful and I couldn't imagine dealing with the installers. A year late after our solar was installed I noticed that the panels that were install was the wrong ones and not the ones I original purchase. I had a difficult time getting response from the installer and decided to reach out to William. He worked his magic and reached out to his connection with the installer. A week later the company came and changed out of panels no questions asked. Without William I was not sure if I would be able to change out the panels a year later. Going with William was the best choice I made and he followed through when we had trouble with our solar. The other 3 companies offered me almost exactly the same warranties and prices but there were a lot of hidden costs that I did not know about. I want to acknowledge William Wood our sales representative, he provided detailed information on everything we wanted to know about going solar. He was familiar with the industry and other competitor systems and programs. We decided to buy from "Solar Energy Consultants" because William showed us more than just one option and then helped us choose the best system for our needs. I really liked that their installers have been in business for over 38 years and they were very experienced in solar. We were also very impressed with their 25 -year linear performance guarantee and the 25 - year Microinverters and solar panels warranties. The installation process was quick, very clean and the workers were very professional, they were very prompt for the appointment to install system. Although I was not there for the completion of the system, it was easy to get in touch with customer service to get my questions answered and find out to how the system works. Prior to getting solar, the average monthly electric bill was about $195. The first month's bill after the system was up and running was -$15! The system comes with online monitoring so I can check how the system is working anytime I want, I receive an email report once a month.
