We enjoyed Sebastian's so much that we went twice during our trip to Cambria. The large outdoor seating area has plenty of picnic tables and incredible views of the surrounding horse pasture and mountains. Great casual place to grab a sandwich and glass (or bottle) of wine. Sometimes they barbecue right there on site. You can also bring your own snacks, if you prefer, but the sandwiches are great!

A must place to grab a bit to eat. Whether you're eating it on their patio, bringing it to Hearst Winery (only food they allow from the outside) or taking it to a beach for a picnic you won't be disappointed. Their sandwiches which we enjoyed during our wine tasting were fantastic. Their sandwiches tomato bisque was excellent. Nice people working here and a nice little store with all sorts of trinkets. Don't miss this place.

Came for a wine tasting at Hearst Ranch winery. Cute shop. Very helpful staff. We ordered a Cubano sandwich and a bag of chips. They took our number and we walked across the street to the winery. About 15 minutes later they texted. Sandwich was huge. Plenty for 2. It came with plates, napkins and forks. Tasted great. Perfect.

Haven't been here in years! Limited menu but great service. There's plenty of seating but the pier is near by as well. Had the cubano Sandwhich and the grilled cheese and tomato bisque soup. Both were delicious and my daughter and could've shared.

Everything on the menu is great! You can order online and then go pick it up too. We did that for a friend's birthday and then took our sandwiches across the street to the Hearst Wine Tasting. It was a fantastic birthday for our friend. This is also a great spot to get a sandwich and go to the beach. Many travelers stop here and take photos by the historical Hearst Buildings and eat on the patio. It is a favored local spot for lunch parties, baby showers and other gatherings. There is plenty of history here and a fun amount of gifts to keep you busy while you wait for your order. You can't beat Sebastian's when you come to the coast.

Cross-section of the Californian. Basically the most perfect turkey club anywhere.

We love the deli at Sebastian's- the sandwiches are way above and beyond in quality, quick, and never disappoint. My husband and I are so enamored with the Californian (a perfect, super hearty turkey club with excellent and plentiful ingredients- the pepper jack, bacon, thick-cut turkey, and sprouts really set it off) that we struggle to order anything else. When we do deviate, everything is excellent. The deli salads are great too- we love the broccoli salad. The outdoor seating is plentiful and comfortable, as well as spacious and dog-friendly (we brought our two today, and had no problem putting ourselves out of highly trafficked areas given that our newer little rescue is not yet used to restaurant patios). The store itself is super clean, and better appointed and curated than ever! They have some awesome gourmet and specialty food items, and a lot of very cute home decor items and gifts. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful, at the deli and beyond. Great little gift shop and sandwich spot!

Food counter at the back of the store. Menu is mostly sandwiches and salads. Great selection and fresh ingredients. Plenty of seating around in the patio. We got the 805 Californian (toasted) and the shrimp sandwich (served cold). Shrimp sandwich was messy but tasted like ceviche. Really recommend this one. The Californian had plenty of meat and veggies. I really enjoyed this one. We also ordered an iced Americano. They have good coffee here. This is a great place to stop and refuel. Bathrooms are kept clean and the store is very cute.

Stopped by for a quick bite after wine tasting at Hearst Ranch Winery. Such a cute little store that completely fits in with the vibes of the whole area! While they have limited hours, they offer a nice selection of lunch items. Their Coastal Cowboy sandwich was packed with flavorful tri-tip - good size to either have for a meal or share between two. Because it was raining, you know we had to get a cup of their tomato bisque, too. Creamy and perfect for dipping our sandwich in. They have a few tables inside (and if I recall, a few outside as well?). While we ate here, you can also get the food to go and take it to the winery. It's also a general store/boutique with some kitschy items as well as wine-related gifts (and wine itself!) and some history on the area. We've stopped by here twice now, but it was never during a peak tourist time. So while it was never busy during our visits, not sure how it would be during summer. Worth a stop to look around and grab some lunch when you're in the area.

    Chipwich

The hubs and I stopped here in November for a quick lunch before our Hearst Castle tour and then we came back after our tour to shop and have a chipwich! For lunch we split a Californian - if you're not into healthy, crunch bread type sandwiches, this probably isn't the sandwich for you. Lots of flavor, maybe even a little too much going on. The chipwich we got on the back side of our tour was an impulse buy and it was delicious... except it was $10... for one chipwich. The loss of star here is based on portion size and the prizes - just so expensive, but when you're the only game in town you can price as you like. The outdoor seating area is very nice and very quiet. The shop is adorable w/ all kinds of pantry foods, kitchen wares, and more. I found a cute marine life book for a baby shower I'm attending - unique finds! Oh and the bathrooms were the cleanest we encountered in our CA road trips.

Sebastian's store is a sandwich shop that was highly recommended by the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort we stayed at. The indoor dining area has very limited seating, but luckily we found a table available. We all tried the tuna melt sandwich, the steak sandwich, the grilled cheese sandwich, and the soups. The Harvest steak was pretty good but there was too much horseradish on it that made it too spicy to eat. If you don't want it to be too spicy, I suggest you request the horseradish on the side. The restaurant also features wine-tasting and a souvenir shop, also a small supermarket inside the shop. There is outdoor seating outside the restaurant and you can see a few horses just next to the property. I would recommend going there for lunch or just a rest when you're visiting Hearst Castle or if you are in the San Simeon area. It might take a while to get your meal so you can buy some souvenirs while you wait. There are many famous attractions and photo spots nearby that you can easily visit.

This is a surprisingly good place to stop by on the coast or while exploring Hearst Castle. The sandwiches were huge and packed with meat. Scrumptious and ready to hit the spot when you are hungry. Prices are reasonable and the food is fresh. The burratta salad was good, especially the burrata cheese on the cheese toast. Both the Tri-tip and Pork Kimchee sandwiches were great.

Karen (the nice one) is an exceptional "welcome wagon" and outstanding ambassador for this historic general store across the street from Hearst Castle. She is a WEALTH of information; most deserving of a raise. Not Kidding. Assuredly, I purchased MUCH more due to her earnest fandom, outstanding recommendations and specific shoutouts within the store. Your dog is welcome to accompany you into the store. Big dogs. Wow! Super helpful.... Thereafter, there are delicious salads/food options and Hearst wine offerings to enjoy on their shaded outdoor deck. Epic burgers from the food truck on weekends! Can't wait for our next visit!

The process was easy and convenient, and everything arrived right on time. We shared the Hearst Ranch Burger ($22)--an 8oz Hearst Ranch Estate ground beef patty with Havarti cheese, braised & seared pork belly, onion jam, house pickles, burger sauce, and heirloom tomato on a black & white sesame bun. It was served quartered, making it perfect for sharing. We also ordered the shoestring fries ($8), which were plentiful, crispy, and served with a buttermilk ranch dressing. The prices were a little steep, but I guess it's location, location, location. Anyway, it was a great pairing with the wines and made for a relaxing, delicious experience. Note: Seaside@HRW is open Friday-Sunday, 11AM-4PM, for food service at the tasting room (wine tasting reservation required). The Seaside Deli is open daily and if you are also wine tasting at the winery, you can pick up from the deli and bring it to your tasting table. We've ordered from the deli before, and as I recall, the sandwiches were very good.

I do not eat seafood, therefore this review is based off of my group. My husband enjoyed the oysters stating they were fresh and sweet. My daughter loved the calamari. I was quite underwhelmed with the spicy tequila cream chicken pasta. I was told that the dish was very spicy. To me, there was barely a hint of heat to it. The flavors was lacking. I feel as if the sliced onions should be left out. Our friend ordered the cioppino and mentioned the same thing, the sliced onions made the dish taste a little off but otherwise delicious. The kids fusilli with Parmesan was ok. It was basically tossed in butter and she can add her own Parmesan. The rib eye came out medium well. We thought that maybe it was just the ends that were a bit more cooked, however, almost the entire steak was medium well. The only part that we didn't eat was looked to be medium. Although the steak was not cooked to our preferred temperature, it was very flavorful and tender. And we sure were hungry after a day of exploring. We ate nearly the entire plate. I didn't want to mention anything since we ate 90% of the plate, but our friend convinced us to bring it up to the server. And so I did, not wanting to anything to be done about it. We did nearly finish it. We also did not want to wait longer for the steak to be re-made. I paid for my tab and it was well under what I had expected the total to be. I scanned through the itemized receipt and realized that they took off the steak. I felt ashamed for even bringing it up since we basically ate it all. The cocktails were great. Not too watered down or too heavy with alcohol. The restaurant has an amazing view overlooking the Pacific Ocean and offers outdoor seating. The service is quick and everyone was very friendly. Will I came again? For sure. Just not for pasta.

Hospitality is far more than delivering food and wine it is making every guest feel genuinely welcomed, valued, and cared for. When your name carries the legacy of Hearst, those standards should be even higher. The setting at Hearst Ranch Winery in San Simeon is undeniably beautiful. The oceanfront views are spectacular and make it a destination worth visiting. Unfortunately, the hospitality did not match the stunning location. This was our first visit, and sadly, it will more than likely be our last. Throughout our visit, it was evident that some guests received warm, attentive hospitality while others, including us, received only the minimum level of service. Hospitality should never feel selective. We ordered a charcuterie board, and after waiting approximately 30 minutes, I finally asked our server about it. Only then were we informed that we were expected to walk across to the General Store, pick up the board ourselves, and bring it back to the winery. We were also told that the winery kitchen is closed on Mondays and that the host had apparently been confused when taking our order. Had this been communicated at the time of ordering, the misunderstanding and the lengthy wait could have been avoided entirely. The apology we received felt disingenuous and lacked the ownership that transforms a service failure into a positive recovery. Mistakes happen in every hospitality business. What guests remember most is how those mistakes are handled. Hearst Ranch Winery has an extraordinary location and a name synonymous with excellence. I sincerely hope leadership reinforces that every guest deserves the same level of warmth, professionalism, and hospitality from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. Beautiful views may bring people through the doors, but exceptional hospitality is what brings them back.

I have frequented both the Cambria and Fresno locations, partially due to the consistently decent service and mostly due to the quality and quick food. It doesn't matter if you show up right when they open, or if you arrive when there's a line out the door waiting to place orders, service is always much quicker than you'd expect. Food is decent--whether you get a salad (note-the side or small salad is huge--it fills a full to-go container), fish and chips, a sandwich or burger. Substitutions are usually not an issue, and ranch/bbq sauces are available at no extra charge. I'm generally impressed with how absolutely fresh the lettuce and veggies are for the salads. I really have grown used to spending $10 or more for a much smaller salad at other locations and have grown accustomed to picking out wilted/rotted veggies and lettuce. Not here-everything is cold, crisp and fresh. Meat is seasoned well-- and the fries are plentiful. There is usually plenty of seating, whether inside or on the patio. Parking can be rough along Main Street, but if you're patient, you can usually find something fairly close. It does help that the grill is towards the end of the street. Rest rooms are limited and often running low on supplies. It can be quite a wait during busy times. In all, this is a great place for quick and decent food. It is consistently enjoyable for the whole family. We'll definitely be back whenever we visit.
