The wait was only 5 min to be seated, but the wait to be waited on was about 15 min, than another 20 min to 30 min for our food, thank goodness our waiter was very nice and apologetic to us for everything. The clam chowder soup and bread bowl was so delicious! I couldn't even eat the bread bowl, it really fills you up. I had a bite of my son's hamburger, and for the price and taste I was very disappointed. I wouldn't recommend the burger to anyone. The ambience was nice, the employees were all very nice as well. A pleasant surprise, with a few caveats. The Dutchie in Morro Bay ended up being better than we expected. Cool space, good service, and genuinely great views to go with it. The standouts were the dishes that leaned on freshness. The rockfish ceviche was excellent, and the tataki was really great as well, both clearly built around quality, fresh seafood. Where the menu dipped was on items that seemed like they were working from frozen rather than fresh product. The shrimp croquettes in particular fell flat compared to everything else we ordered. Overall a good experience and worth a visit, especially if you stick to the fresher, more special items on the menu. read more

Ate here on a sunday early evening. The service was super good, every staff member is helping with every table. Got lots of free refills on a diet Pepsi. I ordered the half dozen oysters and these were great, especially with the horseradish sauce. Also the bistro fries were good, but very oily towards the end. I got the cioppino since it offered so many different seafoods. It was super light and needed a bit more salt. There was plenty of calamari in it, loved the lobster tail as well. I didnt eat the garlic toast that comes with it as I'm gluten free but my partner said the toast and the soup didn't complement each other. They were just both good on their own. I'm usually not a big seafood fan, but I have to admit that I really enjoyed the fish and chips at the Dutchie. Dutchie was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The seafood is excellent, especially the specials of the day -- every recommendation was spot-on. I had the sea bass with a crab cake, mushrooms, and spinach, and it was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The restaurant is very kid-friendly, which we truly appreciated, and the views right on the water made the entire meal even more enjoyable. A huge shout-out to Tyler, our waiter -- he was exceptional, attentive without hovering, and his recommendations did not disappoint. Saw the other Yelp reviews and everyone was raving about clam chowder bread bowls. We ordered two of them, and the Local Rock Cod + the Fish, Prawns & Chips (subbed with onion rings). Definitely see the hype with the clam chowder bowls--it was absolutely stuffed and filled to the brim (and spilling over) with a healthy amount of clams, potatoes, and other goodies. I thought the cod was decent but lacked a bit of flavor. Fish and chips were good and I liked that there wasn't an excessive amount of batter. I liked the onion rings as well! I wish we came during the day so we could see the views of the ocean, but we'll have to visit again read more

(1/5) Unfortunately, our experience at The Dutchie in Morro Bay was very disappointing. From the moment we sat down, the service lacked warmth and attentiveness. Our waitress came to the table without greeting us and immediately asked what we wanted to drink and eat. The interaction felt rushed, as though we were inconveniencing her rather than being welcomed as guests. The kids' chicken strips were okay, but the fruit that came with their meals was clearly not fresh. It looked and tasted past its prime, which was disappointing, especially for a children's meal. By the time the kids had finished eating, our meals finally arrived. The cod was overcooked and under-seasoned, while the rice was hard, tasting as if it had been reheated multiple times. The salmon was dry and lacked any real flavor. The only thing I could really taste was the cream sauce, which resembled plain cream and unsalted butter with little to no seasoning. To make matters worse, the restaurant itself felt warm and had a musty smell, which made the dining experience even less enjoyable. Overall, between the poor service, disappointing food quality, and uncomfortable atmosphere, I would not recommend dining here. There are many better places to eat in Morro Bay. read more

" Mermazing" food, service & ambiance .We had the best window seat with the best view right on the harbor. Moriah served us so well. We came in on our first night and sat at the bar. I wanted a non-alcoholic drink, and the bartender created a delicious lime-coconut cocktail for me--it was amazing! The service was so warm and attentive that we decided to come back the next night for dinner. I had the clam chowder in a bread bowl, which was absolutely to die for, along with the crudo and shrimp croquettes--everything was fresh and flavorful. Dropped in while on family business and ordered fish and chips (halibut) this item was obviously from frozen may have been made from fresh fish but it was frozen prior to being cooked as it had the watery taste to the stringy tuff fish (overcooked) by a long way . Wanted lunch looking at Morro Bay Rock and that's exactly what we got! Windows line the entire perimeter of the building and overlook the bay and the rock! All the traditional seafood offerings available. We ordered Tuna Melt, chicken Club, crab & Shrimp salad and clam chowder. All our food was tasty. The clam chowder bowl was large! Had little shrimps floating in the middle. Couldn't finish! Salad was very large, couldn't finish!! Fresh. Also didn't finish the Chicken club which had avocado and bacon!! Located on Embarcadero, in Morro Bay, is Dutchman's Seafood. From the street, you walk through a covered walkway, with stores to each side. Head to the back. When you enter, you see the bar and are welcomed. The whole restaurant is surrounded by windows and a view of the rock and docks! The service was wonderful and the restaurant was clean. I ordered the Fish and Chips. The first bite of the fish made me go weak. I wasn't expecting the fresh fish, perfectly seasoned batter, nice crunch, not greasy fish. Wonderful. Spectacular view of the rock. We were there in a week day cross were very light when we arrived. The staff was very friendly and conversive. We ordered some oysters a bowl of clam chowder and a Dutchie bowl. The clam chowder was really good but not great. The local oysters were delicious a nice taste of the sea. Nice in size. The bowl was made with ahi tuna and was delicious. The rice was a bit too clumped up though. The fish stole the show. A very nice stop that will be repeated. Long time Morro Bay establishment with an amazing location. Diverse, seafood focused menu. Full bar available. Not busy during our lunch visit so service was nicely quick. Our service person was excellent. I came hungry today so an appetizer was in order. The Shrimp Croquettes, which if memory serves were a special, sounded great. Served with a Romesco sauce. Unfortunately, they were served lukewarm. And the flavor of the sauce was the overwhelming taste. If you ordered them without the sauce or on the side and they came warm I think these would be much better. My DW chose to order what was the seasonal salad-A Beet and Burrata Salad served with grilled bread. This came served on bibb lettuce with a miso style dressing. Prepared with red and gold beets, it looked gorgeous and the taste was pronounced as "delicious". My choice today was the 3 Piece Cod and Chips. I feel if you like cod and chips this should be your choice as well. Perfectly fried fresh flaky fish with a light tempura batter. I would bet big money this was never frozen fish battered at time of order. It most certainly tasted like it. The fries were hot and fresh. We would come back here every time we visited without reservations. They 100% know what they are doing. Highly recommended. read more

Culinary creative dishes with a view of Morro Rock. I had dinner here last night and ordered 1) Grassy Bay oysters 2) Clam chowder 3) Beets/Buffalo salad The fresh local oysters from our estuary in Morro Bay were medium-size and served on ice with a red vinegar mignonette with scallions and/or a red cocktail sauce with creamy horseradish. Very nice presentation with sprigs of fresh dill and sliced lemons. These weren't really briny, but has a mild saltiness. The clam chowder was also very good. Creamy white soup served with oyster crackers. I like to add a splash of hot sauce like Tabasco. The highlight for me was the beet and buffalo mozzarella (soft and round) salad which was beautiful. A slight hint of fennel added a nice subtle flavor. The chef has made a nice impression for me. I will definitely come again and try a few of the specials. read more

Omg! You can't go here and not get the sourdough bread bowl of clam chowder!! It was beyond incredible!! I also got a shrimp cocktail that was more than the norm: it not only had cocktail sauce but cucumber. My daughter got the steak and frites (minus the chimichurri sauce). It was cooked perfectly rare to her liking. The service was amazing and very attentive. We watched otters play right next to our table, boats passing by, and the rock.
