I love martinis. I particularly love ice rink martinis, and Jack, the bartender really made my martini skate! The view of Morro Rock was amazing and I loved that the bar counter faced directly across the bay. We did not get food, so I can't really speak to that part of the experience, but the drinks and service were great and such a great deal! $6 well drinks during happy hour is a price that's hard to beat. Since it was a Monday and still fairly early, It wasn't very busy, so we had plenty of servers to get anything we needed. I would actually give a 4.5 only because the bar area might need some tender loving care, but the drinks and service more than made up for it. Rose's was a great start to our evening.
We arrived on a Thursday night, and they offered a table overlooking the ocean. The staff was very very nice, and provided some painting crayon and toys for my son. The food was delicious. Both my clam chowder and my wife's shrimp scampi were good, and we were happy with our food The place was fairly busy, and still the service was good. The reason I am giving them four stars, is everything was good, not perfect. Anyways, recommend this place without a question.

Roses is a place our family likes to come to every time we are in Morro Bay. Beautiful view of Morro Rock and the bay/ocean. I ordered the Ahi fish tacos with garlic fries. The fish was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. I loved the cabbage and other vegetables to brighten the flavors. The sauce was delicious and the garlic fries were not over powering. Our wait staff was very attentive with lots of recommendations. We appreciate the service, food, and atmosphere.!

Great bayside restaurant, very clean and interesting sea related decor. Our server was right on our drinks and food order. My wife ordered fish and chips which were light and fresh. I had a bacon cheeseburger which was fresh and tasty. Hot French fries topped everything off. Great drinks too....

We came for a drink and a little snack just to kill some time. It was open seating when we arrived which was nice. As we had our little fur ball was with us so the patio was perfect. They did have heat lamps overhead but I don't think our section was turned on. I did mentioned it to one of the gentleman to see if they could turn it on but he never came back. Sophia was our waitress. Very sweet and friendly. As we were only here for drinks and a little snack, it was a quick browse through the menu. She did mention that it was happy hour and they had some items that were great. Both the Bloody Mary and margaritas were quite nice. It wasn't the happy hour menu but it was still nice. Onion rings were great, perfectly battered and cooked well. Nice crunch to it. Also that was from the regular menu. We did get an order of fries and calamari from the happy hour menu. Fries, it's was good. Calamari was nice, lightly battered and served with a sweet chili sauce and something else. Both sauces were good. Service was nice as Sophia was very friendly. All The other waitress was sweet as well out at the patio section. It's also a perfect spot for people with their dogs. Everything was nice, drinks with a view, nice bite. And to finished the meal off, a freakin seagull little left us a a surprise. Good thing it hit the chair armrests instead. Plus, on Tuesday they do all you can eat crab legs. May need to give that a try sometimes.
Ate late lunch/early dinner here. Food was really good. My coconut shrimp was so delicious. Best I ever had. My mom said the same about her fish and chips. We also got drinks and the bartender was on point with them. I recommend giving this place a try. And the view is also great.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of my worst restaurant experiences. We came on Father's Day, and despite the restaurant not being busy, service was extremely slow. They lost my dad's order, and while the rest of us ate, he was given chowder and had to wait another 15 minutes for his meal. The biggest issue was the chicken. The next day, while reheating my leftovers, I discovered my piece of chicken was raw. We tried calling the restaurant but got no response. We will never be eating here again.
The location is amazing, unfortunately the food wasn't. The oyster was decent, but I was disappointed with the Fish and Chips; the food was almost room temperature when they brought it out (and when you order fish and chips, you expect it to be piping hot), so that was a bit of a letdown. The service was really good though.

The floor had some napkins and straw papers under one of the tables not being used. We were seated ourselves as the sign stated and were quickly greeted with menus and our drink order taken. Then our server brought our drinks and took our order. I ordered the halibut with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. Mark got fish and chips with a bowl of clam chowder. My food was delicious. Mark was disappointed. He the clam chowder was tasteless and had more fillers the clams. He say "his fish wasn't greasy". But everything else was so-so. Would I eat here again yeah. Would I go out of my way. Probably not. But other folks must love them because this place is jumping now.
*Visited on Weds 12/25/2024 with a group of 7 at noon Visited Rose's Bar and Grill as I had a few surprise guests visiting from out of town Christmas morning. I loved the fact that this restaurant was right on the waterfront and had a great view of the Rock and the bay- despite being seated in the corner, we were still able to catch a few nice views :) Our waiter was kind and quick to help us despite it being slightly busy - it was Christmas Day! Okay the food: * Cali Chicken Sandwich - not bad at all, a little on the pricier side but not bad at all. I wish the sweet potato fries were slightly crispier but that's probably on me since I didn't ask them to make them extra crispy. * Hot Crab Sandwich- pretty tasty! again, on the pricier side but considering that we're on the Embarcadero, it's no surprise.
The best part of Rose's is definitely the view, but to be fair, every restaurant along the waterfront has the same beautiful scenery, so the view alone isn't enough to make up for the experience. Right after I arrived, the restaurant got absolutely slammed as it was closing. Our waitress was clearly overwhelmed trying to keep up with everyone, but she stayed friendly and professional throughout, and I really appreciated her positive attitude under the circumstances. Unfortunately, the food was a big disappointment, especially for the price. The clam chowder was served cold and lacked flavor. My halibut entrée came with a surprisingly small portion of fish, the vegetables (carrots, squash, broccoli) were cold, and the mashed potatoes were bland and together tasted like a very basic side dish for a $38 plate. The busboy brought the main dish right after the soup, so I had to rush to eat the soup. The waiters should stagger the plates. Overall, the meal felt overpriced and underwhelming. The staff did their best during a very busy rush, but the kitchen simply didn't deliver. read more

Nice water front location, with large window seating if it's too wet or cold outside. Picked this place after 3 picky eaters who didn't want anything to do with seafood rejected everything else on restaurant row in this beach town. I am glad we did. Seems to be part of an inn - but we never went deeper into checking that out. Staff is really friendly and takes good care of you. Also recommended some cool places to check out in the neighborhood. I got the local oysters - and they let you order by the piece, which helps when I am the only one eating them. They were really fresh and plump. Kids got the Alfredo, which clearly hit the spot for them. Plates were wiped clean when we were leaving - so they were either really hungry or it was good. Hit the fish tacos that were good. Not the best I have had - but the fish was really fresh. read more

I stopped in at 8pm on a weekday, because it was one of the only places open. I ordered the shrimp and chips. The prawns were decadent and juicy (like 10/10, highly recommend!), and the French fries were pretty standard. Service was okay, it was busy though. The view is absolutely gorg! I will be adding it to my list of favorite Morro Bay restaurants. read more

Stayed nearby on a road trip. It's what I expected. That's to say, it's a sports bar on a harbor in a pretty coastal town. It's not a gourmet restaurant specializing in locally sourced seafood. We got the calamari and chips, and the hot crab sandwich with garlic fries. It hit the spot. Server had a good recommendation on the beer, and he clearly knew the differences between the IPAs. I'd say this probably deserves to be 4-4.5 stars, it's definitely better than its current average rating. Giving it 5 stars to bring it up. I enjoyed it, and would recommend given you want bar food at a sports bar. read more

Came over to Morro Bay for the day and gave always enjoyed going to Roses Bar and Grill. Whether you're sitting inside or outside the view is amazing. The service is always prompt and the the servers very friendly. I had the chicken Alfredo and my friend had the hot crab sandwich, both were delicious! Our server Olivia was very attentive and an absolute pleasure! read more

WOW! If i could eat this everyday, i totally would. The lobster and shrimp tacos were TO DIE FOR! Don't eat it during a first date because it will get messy lol. The restaurant had the best views! And the waitress was super kind and helpful (thanks for suggesting the tacos!) if im ever anywhere near the area in the future, i will most definitely have to come back :)! read more
Wow, my cocktail drink ("Yes, on the Beach") was great but strong! I got the Steamers (clams) which came with garlic bread, and that was really delicious and flavorful. I also got the garlic French fries which were decent. Service was decent as well. We had dinner, so it was already dark and therefore no view of the water and Morro Rock. It would be nicer during the day. Overall, good spot for seafood and cocktails. read more
Went to Rose's on a Monday afternoon for lunch with the family. We were given an option of inside or out on the patio. We chose the patio, with an exquisite view of the bay and Morro Rock. Our server was attentive, accommodating, and our food was brought out in a timely manner. We ordered chips & guacamole, they were great! I thoroughly enjoyed the fish tacos, minus the fish. I asked if they would be able to do veggies...totally gourmet tasting, and beautifully presented as well! It had perfectly tender carrots, squash, peppers, and pickled onions and garnish on top. Other meals ordered were buttered noodles and cheeseburger- both from the kid's menu. Also ordered at our table was an order of Fish and Chips, with their famous garlic fries. I have come to Rose's for years, and through remodels, updated menus, patio upgrades...I am still super content, thoroughly impressed, and super satisfied. Everyone at our table loved their meals and had left overs to take home. Pretty much every single seat, either at a table or the bar, has an insanely awesome view. Love, love, love Rose's. Will I return you ask...as soon as I can! read more

Great views, tasty food and so so service. Shared a combo seafood plate and oysters and we enjoyed it all. Oysters were tasty, so fresh and accompanied by a garlicky/spicy cocktail sauce. Seafood platter, although all fried food, was pretty yummy. For service, it was a bit slow, and I probably would have had another glass of wine if asked. Nice spot, and I recommend! read more

Love this place! Eat here every time I come to Morro Bay. Right on the water, so great view and beautiful sunset. Staff is very fun and friendly, and the food is very good. We skipped the cocktails to go old school on the drinks - Shirley Temple and Roy Rogers Highly recommend it! read more
