I have been here three times before, ordered a cheeseburger & fries once and I can't recall what the other time. Had to park quite a bit away from the restaurant due to handicapped spots being taken, There is an elevator which I have used on previous visits, but it wasn't working properly going up this time (going down was fine). First time here I dined outside, it was sunny, windy, and the birds begged mercilously!! Second time and this time I sat inside at the high table by the window. The chairs have a nice leg rest. View of Rock is great, although you have to look past the folks dining outside. There are sports playing on all the TVs and it is a bit loud inside, but at least you don't get sunburned, blown away, or attacked by the birds!! They have the napklins and some condiments at the table, which is actually nice not to have to ask for more napkins!! I ordered some chicken strips with beer-battered fries (worth the extra cost), a bottomless soda, and a romaine salad. The salad was sort of a chopped style and was hard to eat but at least it was crunchy lettuce. I needed additional blue cheese dressing. The chicken was too spicy and tasted like fish, I would bet they use the same fryer for their fish and chicken. I also don't prefer breaded chicken strips, battered would have been better. The Fries were fantastic, as usual. Definitely order the beer-battered fries, you won't be disappointed. The refills on the soda were very slow and they didn't add more ice to replace that which had melted. I will probably come here again and would have the cheeseburger and beer-battered fries. No more spicy, fishy, bread crumbed chicken strips for me!!

Exterior of Morro Grill - located in the Morro Landing building on the Embarcadero

Located on the second floor in the Morro Landing building at the north end of the Embarcadero, Morro Grill offers delicious drinks, food and views. Since Morro Grill is located on the second floor, for patrons who cannot or prefer not to use the stairs, an elevator is available at the front entryway. Although a bit compact but cozy and comfortable, plenty of seating is available. There is a combination of seating - indoors at the bar or at individual tables, or on their outdoor patio for dining al fresco, with dog-friendly options. There are three TV monitors above the bar area, as well as two monitors on the opposite wall, all with different programming. Both the indoor and outdoor seating offering fantastic vistas of the bay and Morro Rock. We enjoyed our "Bay Basket" (our choice was the Mahi-mahi filets/Cole Slaw and a garden salad) and a "Salmon B.L.T." with tater tots. Everything was delicious, fresh, and well prepared. Service was spectacular and friendly. They offer a Happy Hour Monday - Friday, from 3pm - 5pm with very reasonable prices on beer, cocktails and wine, as well as a selection of eats.

Found this place on yelp and wanted to enjoy the view, a must! We were able to see the sea otters before, and during our dinner. The server was so nice and recommended the power bowl. 10/10 food and service, only complain was the drink didn't hold up to what I expected but all good

Drunk lady who threatened us at Morrow Grill
Imogen A.

We went to Morrow Grill to celebrate after a long weekend of vending. Upon entering, it became apparent that the woman pictured in my photo was extremely intoxicated. (Side note: they messed up 40% of our order, were out of 3 things we asked for, and could barely accommodate our pescatarian friend, at a seafood restaurant - and the food was mid, at best.) As we ordered, she began butting in to our conversations and being loud/obnoxious. I asked our server if they could have her leave, as she was disturbing the patrons. The drunken woman then started staring at me. She did this repeatedly with a disgusted look on her face. I finally asked if I could help her? She then said "Do you know me? You keep staring at me". (She was seated directly behind my husband, who I WAS looking at!). She then began tossing her hair, loudly complaining about us to the bar tender (who CONTINUED TO server her, despite her being obviously intoxicated). I asked again if she would be asked to leave. I was told "We cannot ask her to leave, she works here." The ENTIRE staff was young, partying with her, listening to her cuss about us and did NOT remove her. We completed our meal, with her jumping up and down, running around talking about us, etc. I then went and asked if I could get contact info for the manager. As I was speaking, she got up and tried to "mean mug" and intimidate me over the other worker's shoulder. She then started yelling that she would "Beat my @ss" etc. No one would remove her. I went and told the person in charge that I would need them to call the police so we could be escorted to our car, as their employee was threatening us. The drunk continued to yell cuss words and threats until ANOTHER CUSTOMER nearby, with kids, eventually got up and had to YELL at the woman and make her leave. The staff CONTINUED to illegally serve her alcohol, did not intervene when she was just loud and obnoxious, allowed her to ruin our meal and ultimately threaten us and make us feel unsafe. There did not seem to be ANY manager on hand. It's being run by a bunch of kids who do not care about the law or the customer's safety or experience. I would never eat here again. Her boyfriend was with her and drinking heavily as well. Once we left, she was running around barefoot in the parking lot drunk, retrieving their dog that they had left in the car to drink, and drinking MORE at another bar. The Alcohol Licensing agents need to look into the Morrow Bars. She REEKED of alcohol, was dirty and slurring her speech and yelling. She should have been cut off about a gallon ago, and Morrow Grill should lose its liquor license and either HAVE A MANAGER on hand or close. And HOPEFULLY she is fired???

Trip Western Tri Tip Sandwich

Good spot on the water. Came here for lunch with the family. Started with the MB Passion, which was sweet and light on the booze, so don't recommend their cocktails. For lunch, I got the seafood chowder and bay basket with coconut shrimp. Seafood chowder was flavorful, a tad salty, but flavorful. Coconut shrimp was huge and crispy. Brother in law got the Tri tip sandwich, which was a tad dry, but he got a side of bbq sauce, and that did the trick. Service was efficient, and spot was nice being on the water. Recommend the coconut shrimp.

First visit though we have walked past this place on the way to Morro Rock maybe 50 times. So happy we stopped this time. We weren't too hungry so we just split two appetizers. We had a Bowl of their Seafood Chowder and the Sweet & Savory Brussel Sprouts. Delicious! We'll certainly be back. They have a great view of the bay from their upstairs deck. There is an elevator available if stairs are an issue. Service was friendly. Presentation was solid, not exceptional but very solid.

The first time was a big hit. We looked up where to get the best Bloody Mary and this place popped up. Well, that visit it didn't disappoint with the BM. We got seated on the patio looking out to the marina and Morro rock. There was the right amount of hi top chairs for our group. Also it was quite busy during the long weekend and the weather was amazing. So it was perfect outside. Of course the Bloody Mary was in order again. We also found out that it was happy hour which was great. The BM was normal price but they did have some small bites offered which we had as well as a couple of cocktails. Blood Mary was accompanied by olives, pickle onions, peppercini, celery and a slice of bacon. They know what they're doing. We also ordered one of the cocktails but it was just whatever's. Nothing to rave about. As we were having dinner later, an order of the jalapeño popper bites to share. Quite tasty I must say and served with ranch dipping sauce. When it was time to cash out, we had him split the bill for us. But noticed that the pooper bites was rang up the full price instead of happy hour. It was a big difference hence we mentioned it to him. Well, he said he'll cancel it and re ring it up. When the bill came, it was slightly confusing and the popper bites was still more than happy hour price. Also if you're splitting the check in twos, why was one bill way more than the other. Not by a small amount but a good potion. It was odd but whatever. Bloody Mary was good which was the reason of this visit. Patio was quite nice with the view. The bill situation was a little of a hassle but we manage. I'll still come for the drink. And if you're here during sunset, it's front row seat.

This place is a must one visiting Morro Bay! The food was incredible, and the vibes were so great as well!! The salad that I got was very delicious, and they were able to substitute the ranch with their delicious ginger, soy vinaigrette! My husband got the California burger with an extra patty, and the burger was fantastic! It was so beautiful to sit on the porch and eat in front of the rock! The service was also fantastic, the food came out so quickly, and the restaurant staff were super friendly! Of note the restaurant is on the second floor! There's plenty of free parking!

Clam chowder + fish and chips
Mari C.

I was craving fish and chips and hoping to sit outside by the water, so we chose this spot specifically for its waterfront seating. Unfortunately, the plan fell through--the outdoor area, though spacious, wasn't clean, and seagulls had taken over. It was disappointing because the view was beautiful. The staff mentioned the birds can get pretty aggressive, so we ended up dining indoors, which wasn't my preference. The indoor space has more of a bar vibe, with high-top tables throughout. I ordered the clam chowder, which was very good and probably would have been enough on its own. The fish and chips included both fish and shrimp; the shrimp were great, but the fish was quite bland. My travel companion has a gluten allergy and found the menu fairly limited, though our server was very kind and did his best to accommodate him. I saw a few burgers go by and immediately regretted not ordering because it looked really good

Beautiful sunset view from the outside patio.

Love this little gem! First, the patio seating view of Morro Rock was beautiful. Ordered the clam chowder in the bread bowl... OMG! The chowder was thick, so flavorful and the bread bowl was a bonus tasting so good! My husband got the beer battered mahi mahi, he said it best tasting fish he's had. The service was great, very friendly & hospitable. We will be back!

Pina colada pudding was delish!

BROOKE. YOU. ROCK! SERVICE: hands down great! BROOKE was fabulous. Came around often enough to make sure our coffee cups never went dry. FOOD: build your own omelet- was stuffed with bacon and mushrooms. Quite tasty. Pancakes were decent. Ambiance- cute little café. There's out door seating as well. Came in and left stuffed. Owner gave us a complimentary slice of pina colada pudding- FABULOUS!!!! IN ALL TWAS A NICE EXPERIENCE. come check it out!

Came during spring break, it was busy and took a while to get acknowledged. Lucy was our server, very friendly and tried to be hasty. Brussels sprouts was the best dish we tried. Pastrami sandwich, kids chicken tenders and shrimp basket were all standard. Blonde server in pic was EXTREMELY slow, typical Gen Z and has no motivation or professionalism. She wasn't even our waitress but overheard the table nearby.

Clam and Crab Chowder in a garlic bread bowl

Perfect setting on the pier facing "the rock". Could be romantic if you wanted it to be! There's "bar" seating facing the water or there are a few tables outside, heaters included. Service was great, attentive, friendly! We had our pick of tables and either inside or outside seating. We chose outside, practically in the water, lol. The food was excellent, you could tell they care to make an impression. The clam and crab chowder served in a garlic bread bowl was an experience unlike anything I've ever had. Between me and my table, there was no evidence of my food when it was all said and done, the garlic bread bowl stood out and added a salty buttery-ness to the chowder. I wouldn't get the chowder without it being "loaded" by the way, all of that just added to the flavor! Everyone else loved their choices, too. The fries are particularly satisfying with their crisp tenderness. The appetizer of fries that has cheese and jalapeño on it was so tasty! I'm so glad we visited here on our way through town, would definitely recommend a stop. (If you have trouble finding it, the entrance is upstairs/up-elevator and toward the back of the building because it's water-side!)

Every once and again a Fosters will appear on our radar and be the perfect solution to a hungry question. Instantly we can recall the first time we saw a Fosters employee take a soft serve vanilla cone, turn in upside down and plunge it in to a vat of melted chocolate before presenting you with your first "chocolate dipped cone". Magic! We now see another sort of magic happening as these long held traditional burger joints start fading away. Each Fosters tries to bring its own personality into the mix and it can turn into something special, as it has with this Morro Bay location. We arrived, parked at the curb outside and immediately noticed the sidewalk chalk art. Arrows individually drawn with Fosters treats and playful characters in bright colors, directing customers to the order window and a hopscotch for playing whilst you await your treats! The dining room also looks newer compared to other Fosters we've seen, and its cleanliness was very inviting. Hubs ordered 2 hot dogs and a small Pepsi. Simple. $11.77 TL. While, that made the small(aka baby sized 6oz, maybe?) Pepsi a whopping $3, it was a cheap, simple and delicious enough meal for him to be satisfied. In Morro Bay, along the Embarcadero, we later noticed a walk up window charging $7 for a single hot dog. While eating, we noticed a dad & daughter sit down with their food. Shortly after, she knocked over her Dr. Pepper. Dad jumped to ask for paper towels to clean, but staff came out promptly, cleaned it up and replaced her drink. Noice! Note: no refills on sodas is offered, but that's no reason to punish a kid that already feels bad. Well done, staff! Everyone worked fast and efficiently and the place had personality! Lots of options for eats and treats if you enjoy convenience foods. Even some swag to purchase I understand that are well known for their burgers and fries but, thanks to another Yelper's photo, I juuust may come back and try their limited time offering of Triple Berry Cheesecake Twister. There may not be one single real berry in the dessert, but all that delicious sugar sure looks tempting! LOL Cheers! "CC"
