A solid 4 for an early weeknight dinner. Extra credit for being open on a Monday night. Staff very friendly, service a little clunky. Beautiful view of Morro Bay and the Rock. Inside tables were more comfortable for us as sunset was a bright blare and there was a lot of birdy action on the deck. 5 star popper bites, 5 star buffalo chicken salad. The balsamic vinaigrette is more like a Dijon honey mustard. Pastrami was on sourdough (hmmmm) and a little too soggy. A nice sparkling Pinot noir rosé by the glass was $12. Would try again after dark.

Truthfully I want to give a 3, however our server was great so I'm giving a 4. I believe his name is Miguel. Throughout our interaction, he remained professional and cheerful - his great attitude saved the experience. We went inside and were able to get seated immediately. We ordered the calamari, flaming hot chicken sandwich, and battered mahi mahi tacos. We were later informed that they were out of the flaming hot chicken. Bummer since that's what we came in for, but not the end of the world. We switched it for the grilled mahi mahi tacos. Then we were informed again that they just ran out of calamari, so we swapped that for popper bites based on our server's recommendation. The kitchen was backed up but our server communicated that with us and made sure our waters were full. The popper bites are really addictive. Some were a little cold inside but I didn't mind. The grilled mahi mahi tacos were alright - the fish itself was good but the rest of the taco was missing something, I took a bite of the battered mahi mahi tacos and got a shrimp shell. I thought that was weird, then took another 2 bites and same thing- shrimp shells. I was given battered shrimp tacos. Normally I would've let it go and just ate the shrimp tacos, but I couldn't because they all had shells on them. It's really lucky that I'm not someone with a shellfish allergy. I let our server know and he apologized, offered to take the battered tacos off, and replace with something else. I got another set of poppers instead since I knew they were good. I don't think I'd return but I'm happy I gave them a shot. With the food mishaps alone, I would've been greatly annoyed, however Miguel's great attitude saved the experience.

This is one of the only places around staying open past 9pm which is smart since the place was packed to the brim! After a 7 hour drive (usually takes 4) we found this place and stopped in before continuing to our hotel. It's upstairs but they have an elevator left of the stairs. The bathrooms are downstairs by the elevator. Men's room was covered in blood so no effing clue what happened there! Check in at the register and you'll get seated inside or outside with full service. I ordered a Cali Squeeze beer and wife had a cocktail. Both great after the long drive. We started with deep fried pepperjack cheese which is so much better than mozzarella. More places need to serve this! I went with the smoked salmon BLT which was unique. Had a big filet of skin on salmon which was excellent on its own. Add the thick bacon and dill mayo and it really made for a great sandwich. Wife had pulled pork sandwich which tasted like burnt ends. Was excellent. Might have been the fact we were forced to evacuate our home and get stuck in holiday traffic but this was the perfect ending to a chaotic stressful day. Service was on point even with it being a full house.

We had a good time at Morro Grill. The entire staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. We sat upstairs, which has a nice view to the rock, but the second floor is not easy for disabled people to get up there. (only stairs) Definitely will be a problem for anyone that has mobility challenges. Overall, service and good food--just keep the stairs in mind!

This place is great. About the same amount of indoor and outdoor seating, which is not very much. Location and views are great. Best casual dining in Morro Bay. TVs for watching sports. Great vegetarian options. A menu with nice variety. The fries and tater tots are fire. Service is a bit hit and miss but usually pretty good. Give this place a try if you're in Morro Bay and want some really interesting food. You'll be glad you did.

Visiting my sister and time got away from us so decided to order through DoorDash for a food delivery. My sister stated that Morro Grill was a good place so we took a look at the menu and both ordered one of their bowls and a side of tater tots. Good size portion and we each enjoyed what we had ordered but have to say that the tater tots kind of stole the show. I ordered them extra crispy and recommend them that way they were so good we were craving them again a couple of days later. Prices were a little high in my opinion but we did enjoy the meal.

Located on the second floor in the Morro Landing building at the north end of the Embarcadero, Morro Grill offers delicious drinks, food and views. Since Morro Grill is located on the second floor, for patrons who cannot or prefer not to use the stairs, an elevator is available at the front entryway. Although a bit compact but cozy and comfortable, plenty of seating is available. There is a combination of seating - indoors at the bar or at individual tables, or on their outdoor patio for dining al fresco, with dog-friendly options. There are three TV monitors above the bar area, as well as two monitors on the opposite wall, all with different programming. Both the indoor and outdoor seating offering fantastic vistas of the bay and Morro Rock. We enjoyed our "Bay Basket" (our choice was the Mahi-mahi filets/Cole Slaw and a garden salad) and a "Salmon B.L.T." with tater tots. Everything was delicious, fresh, and well prepared. Service was spectacular and friendly. They offer a Happy Hour Monday - Friday, from 3pm - 5pm with very reasonable prices on beer, cocktails and wine, as well as a selection of eats.

The best of my written reviews, dear Yelp Review Readers, are reserved for the establishments that "meet or beat expectations". Morro Grill does it AGAIN! We arrived around 3:30 on a Saturday and the restaurant was moderately busy. Our table was in the interior dining room at the window (nice view). Our Server for this experience (Kate) presented us with menus promptly. Kate was fabulous...her service "spot-on", professional and very personable as well (thank-you Kate). Our order consisted of Drinks : A Lemon Drop (4/5 - the question here was if the cocktail actually contained alcohol. We were assured it did, but the drink was replaced non-the-less. The replacement tasted the same ‍..."our bad", but Kate didn't charge us for either!). A Sandy Beach (5/5 - ya...this cocktail is outstanding!) and a Big Sur IPA (5/5). Our ordered Mains: Mushroom Swiss w/ Bacon 2X - one w/ Beer Battered Fries, the other w/a Side Caesar Salad - (5/5 - a definite "go-to burger " cause it's sooo darn good) Bay Basket (Mahi Mahi w/double Coleslaw) - (5/5 delicious and enough to take home for another meal) Grilled Jalapeno Burger (w/egg and Bacon) - (5/5 - always a winner). The wait for our meal after receiving our drinks seemed remarkably short...yay! This occasion was a Birthday celebration meal for one of our party of 4...and Kate presented us with a very delicious piece of Carrot Cake which was large enough for all of us to share - (5/5...if we could give the Carrot Cake a "higher" score/rating we would. It is, as far as Carrot Cake goes, truly OUTSTANDING!) The dining experience couldn't have been better...Kate's service and customer service in "making it right" with the Cocktail and Birthday Cake, the atmosphere/view and the fabulous food didn't disappoint. Once again, on this occasion, in this Yelper's opinion...Morro Grill on the Embarcadero in Morro Bay truly earned this "really, ya gotta go and enjoy" 5 Star review!

I have been here three times before, ordered a cheeseburger & fries once and I can't recall what the other time. Had to park quite a bit away from the restaurant due to handicapped spots being taken, There is an elevator which I have used on previous visits, but it wasn't working properly going up this time (going down was fine). First time here I dined outside, it was sunny, windy, and the birds begged mercilously!! Second time and this time I sat inside at the high table by the window. The chairs have a nice leg rest. View of Rock is great, although you have to look past the folks dining outside. There are sports playing on all the TVs and it is a bit loud inside, but at least you don't get sunburned, blown away, or attacked by the birds!! They have the napklins and some condiments at the table, which is actually nice not to have to ask for more napkins!! I ordered some chicken strips with beer-battered fries (worth the extra cost), a bottomless soda, and a romaine salad. The salad was sort of a chopped style and was hard to eat but at least it was crunchy lettuce. I needed additional blue cheese dressing. The chicken was too spicy and tasted like fish, I would bet they use the same fryer for their fish and chicken. I also don't prefer breaded chicken strips, battered would have been better. The Fries were fantastic, as usual. Definitely order the beer-battered fries, you won't be disappointed. The refills on the soda were very slow and they didn't add more ice to replace that which had melted. I will probably come here again and would have the cheeseburger and beer-battered fries. No more spicy, fishy, bread crumbed chicken strips for me!!

Good spot on the water. Came here for lunch with the family. Started with the MB Passion, which was sweet and light on the booze, so don't recommend their cocktails. For lunch, I got the seafood chowder and bay basket with coconut shrimp. Seafood chowder was flavorful, a tad salty, but flavorful. Coconut shrimp was huge and crispy. Brother in law got the Tri tip sandwich, which was a tad dry, but he got a side of bbq sauce, and that did the trick. Service was efficient, and spot was nice being on the water. Recommend the coconut shrimp.

The first time was a big hit. We looked up where to get the best Bloody Mary and this place popped up. Well, that visit it didn't disappoint with the BM. We got seated on the patio looking out to the marina and Morro rock. There was the right amount of hi top chairs for our group. Also it was quite busy during the long weekend and the weather was amazing. So it was perfect outside. Of course the Bloody Mary was in order again. We also found out that it was happy hour which was great. The BM was normal price but they did have some small bites offered which we had as well as a couple of cocktails. Blood Mary was accompanied by olives, pickle onions, peppercini, celery and a slice of bacon. They know what they're doing. We also ordered one of the cocktails but it was just whatever's. Nothing to rave about. As we were having dinner later, an order of the jalapeño popper bites to share. Quite tasty I must say and served with ranch dipping sauce. When it was time to cash out, we had him split the bill for us. But noticed that the pooper bites was rang up the full price instead of happy hour. It was a big difference hence we mentioned it to him. Well, he said he'll cancel it and re ring it up. When the bill came, it was slightly confusing and the popper bites was still more than happy hour price. Also if you're splitting the check in twos, why was one bill way more than the other. Not by a small amount but a good potion. It was odd but whatever. Bloody Mary was good which was the reason of this visit. Patio was quite nice with the view. The bill situation was a little of a hassle but we manage. I'll still come for the drink. And if you're here during sunset, it's front row seat.

First visit though we have walked past this place on the way to Morro Rock maybe 50 times. So happy we stopped this time. We weren't too hungry so we just split two appetizers. We had a Bowl of their Seafood Chowder and the Sweet & Savory Brussel Sprouts. Delicious! We'll certainly be back. They have a great view of the bay from their upstairs deck. There is an elevator available if stairs are an issue. Service was friendly. Presentation was solid, not exceptional but very solid.

I think i found my breakfast spot when my family is in town. With that said, let's talk about how…read morewe got to this point. If you've been following along on the journey, you know I was trying to keep this trip cheap. At least I was. Now, I'm just trying to salvage it with one last attempt at a reasonably priced restaurant. I suggested 2 places that didn't look too bad, one of which was The Hungry Fisherman. For whatever reason, my wife wasn't interested in either. A third option was a place at the end of Embarcadero that we first went to during covid. My thing was, we have a dog and I don't want to eat outside. It's cold and one place only seats people with pets outside. But since we've been there and my wife was mistaking it for another, she wanted to go there anyways. I guess we will leave the dog in the car? Idk. I come inside and we are looking at 30+ min. What if we take it to go? 20 min. What if we call it in? 20 min. Apparently, if you want to make a to-go order, you have to wait for the 2 servers to find the time to take your order in between waiting their tables. But I'm ranting about another restaurant that we didn't even stay at. But that's how we ended up here. I feel like when I parked, others were arriving at the same time, so I rushed in and grabbed a table. The sign says seat yourself, so we got the largest table there. It seated 8 and while I waited for my family to come in, I was hoping I didn't look odd sitting there by myself. Fortunately my family came quick and we got started. Looking at everything, the menu isn't expansive, but there were a lot of good looking options. I was split between the chicken fried steak and the chile verde burrito. I'm a little picky about my chile verde since it can either be too spicy or bland. Morro Bay isn't known for its Mexican population as far as I can tell, and I've been seriously disappointed in chile verde when it isn't cooked by natives. But since there is a page dedicated just to Mexican food, and the waitresses are off Latin descent, I give the chile verde burrito a go. Especially after I ask our waitress for her opinion. I'm glad I did because it exceeded all expectations. The avocado, the salsa, sour cream, it all just worked so well together. I got about 3/4 of the way with it and my daughter finished the rest. She also agreed it was good. My wife got the French toast, which was a bad idea. Not because it wasn't good, she loved it. But because bread makes her sugar spike, and the consequences came strong less than an hour later. To give you perspective, the tortilla on a burrito makes it spike. She knows what it does to her but she does it anyways. No fault of the restaurant. This one was on her. It must have been worth it because she finished her leftovers after her sugar crashed soon after. Everyone else loved their food as well. One thing I wasn't aware of is that they serve cinnamon coffee. When I got my first refill, she asked if I wanted cinnamon. You can be excused for not knowing since I don't even see coffee on the menu, let alone cinnamon. I must have had at least 3 cups in the less than 40 min we were there. Looking around the inside, it's very nice inside. It's not ritzy by any means, but I did enjoy looking around inside. We also discovered a now binge-worthy show to watch that was playing behind us-Worse Cooks In America. I hooked that out was on so patrons would appreciate the good food in front of them. Also on the way out, looking inside the cooking area -all Mexicans. So it makes sense that the food was so authentic. Like I said, we will be back. Morro is our weekend vacation spot, so that's a promise

The clam chowder is something you do not want to miss out on. And the complementary sourdough bread that is included is exquisite. We tend to always be a larger party, somewhere between 8 & 12 attending. This year there was a bit of a snag in that they have few larger tables that can accommodate us, and that was being used when we arrived. The issue was not the fault of the restaurant, just a thing that happened, causing the wait to be significantly longer as those before us were deeply engaged in conversation. The staff made other accommodations for us by creating a large table out of numerous two tops, which we appreciated very much. Our server was Kathy, and she was absolutely delightful; could not have done anything better. She was pleasant, humorous, very accurate and efficient. I let Kathy know it was my brother's birthday and she arranged to have a beautiful chocolate mousse delivered to the table and we sang happy birthday to him, making for an even increased great experience.

AMBIANCE: the decor was nice. We actually got a table with a view of Morro rock, but it was half covered with fog. There's also outside seating that have space heaters and umbrellas. FOOD: the seafood omelette was topped with one shrimp and filled with 75% mushrooms and bits of crab and a little more shrimp my wife ordered scrambled eggs, but with the option of three pancakes instead of potatoes, however we did notice a textural difference in the eggs. I'm not sure whether they use liquid eggs substitutes because they were a bit runny but we thought they were very thin not thick and fluffy, but they did taste OK the coffee was good. The tea. My wife ordered was just luke warm so she asked for another pot and it was still not hot. NOTE: the Embarcadero and front Street has become extremely overcrowded on the weekends and that stands true with Pismo and Avila and Cayucos. i'm glad we were able to enjoy these places before they got this way.
