This shop is such an amazing throwback! The dipped cones were a staple when I was a kid, and I was so excited to have one now. Prices have definitely gone up. Two dipped cones came to $14, and the coverage of the ice cream by the chocolate was not very thorough. Also, the quality of the chocolate seems to have gone down. It tasted like coating (like store bought icing), not actual chocolate. That was disappointing, particularly given the price point. Still, the shop is adorable. We ordered the parfaits, and the triple berry had real fruit in it! They were a little full so they did overflow a little, but is that really a bad thing? The woman who was taking orders was really nice, and the music wasnt too loud. Overall would recommend, just eat it there.. and not in your car. read more

Since I'm gluten free, I opted out of the cone and got a half and half soft serve in a large cup. When the worker handed me the cup, I was in disbelief it was a large. Seemed really small. Sometimes when your road trippin' a simple Scooby Snack is all you need. Hubs was hungry, I was not. Enter Fosters, a So Cal staple since 1946! Every once and again a Fosters will appear on our radar and be the perfect solution to a hungry question. Instantly we can recall the first time we saw a Fosters employee take a soft serve vanilla cone, turn in upside down and plunge it in to a vat of melted chocolate before presenting you with your first "chocolate dipped cone". Magic! We now see another sort of magic happening as these long held traditional burger joints start fading away. Each Fosters tries to bring its own personality into the mix and it can turn into something special, as it has with this Morro Bay location. We arrived, parked at the curb outside and immediately noticed the sidewalk chalk art. Arrows individually drawn with Fosters treats and playful characters in bright colors, directing customers to the order window and a hopscotch for playing whilst you await your treats! The dining room also looks newer compared to other Fosters we've seen, and its cleanliness was very inviting. Hubs ordered 2 hot dogs and a small Pepsi. Simple. $11.77 TL. While, that made the small(aka baby sized 6oz, maybe?) Pepsi a whopping $3, it was a cheap, simple and delicious enough meal for him to be satisfied. In Morro Bay, along the Embarcadero, we later noticed a walk up window charging $7 for a single hot dog. While eating, we noticed a dad & daughter sit down with their food. Shortly after, she knocked over her Dr. Pepper. Dad jumped to ask for paper towels to clean, but staff came out promptly, cleaned it up and replaced her drink. Noice! Note: no refills on sodas is offered, but that's no reason to punish a kid that already feels bad. Well done, staff! Everyone worked fast and efficiently and the place had personality! Lots of options for eats and treats if you enjoy convenience foods. Even some swag to purchase I understand that are well known for their burgers and fries but, thanks to another Yelper's photo, I juuust may come back and try their limited time offering of Triple Berry Cheesecake Twister. I live in Paso Robles. I was in Morro Bay for a quick trip. I always see this place when I go. So I have been craving a chocolate dipped ice cream cone. Nobody makes them anymore. It did not disappoint. Soft serve yumminess. Perfect brought me back to my youth. It has not changed a bit. A lot of people in line which is a good thing. Means they have good food. I also had an order of fries. They were hot just the way I like. The crinkle cut kind. I'm sorry I cheated on you! It's totally worth the 30 minute drive from my home to foster freeze in Morro Bay to get a milkshake. Sometimes I still think I can find a good milkshake closer to my house and then am extraordinarily disappointed! After many attempts in North county nothing has come close to replacing my favorite milkshake from foster freeze. I'm super bummed the one in paso isn't still around. The service is decently fast depending on foot traffic and you always get the yummy ice cream you're craving. It's close to the beach so you can at least work off a few of the calories. With no suitable fast food replacement in sight this is my number one recommendation for a good milkshake. The burgers and fries are decent too. read more

Who doesn't love Fosters Freeze? I know I do. There is a reason that there is often a line waiting to order. This is some of the best ice cream around. My wife and I will often drive the 30 miles from Paso Robles just to come and enjoy the great cold treats! It may be a bit on the pricey side but, it's worth it! On a nice day, you usually want to sit a one of the tables outside. The inside dining area is nice too. The whole place can definitely get crowded on those busy, warm days! Just be prepared to wait. Anyway, I went there to get him gift certificates for his birthday.. they have gift books now. 25$ each with 5 - 5 & pages. Soo Cool!! A wonderful young lady Named Kimmy waited on me. Food was delicious. Just wanted a good old fashioned hamburger. I visit MB often and would usually go with Thai or a Fish Place but today just needed some "comfort" food. My burger was perfectly cooked and loaded with a fresh tomato & lettuce. Nice slices of pickles too! French fries were Excellent. Crispy on the outside & piping hot & soft on the inside. A root beer finished off a perfect lunch! The service was friendly and good. The restaurant was clean & bathrooms were "sparkling ". I drove down for a view of the rock. I've been going to foster freeze for many year and love their ice cream. This is the only one still open in San Luis Obispo County. We like going here for ice cream whenever we can. We were nearby visiting some thrift stores and decided to stop by for some ice cream. There were a few tables outside, so we had a place to sit down and eat with our doggie in tow. The hubby had an ice cream sundae and I had a small dipped cone. We ordered at the outside window and I picked up our ice cream at a pickup window inside.
