Today while in Morro Bay we were hungry for a burger. We weren't sure where to go but while driving down Morro Blvd. I stopped at Babydudes so my wife could pick up some of their chocolate chip cookies. She came back to the car with the cookies and a menu. She told me the woman behind the counter said their smash burger is excellent. That's all I needed to hear; actually she got me at smash. The woman who turned out to be the owner was very attentive and confident in her menu which was very helpful. We both ordered the smash burger and a drink. We sat outside which is different patio tables and chairs spread out under umbrellas. Our food was delivered promptly and it looked great. My wife normally doesn't order cheese burgers and missed that the smash burger comes with cheese. When she realized her mistake, she told the young lady that she would remember for next time, even though she offered to make her a new burger. Shortly thereafter, the owner came out to check on us and asked about redoing her burger and when my wife thanked her and told her that she declined the offer from me kitchen, the owner insisted and took her burger and said that she would wrap it for me to have later. That situation alone and her concern for my wife's contentment was awesome and unlike anything we've seen in a restaurant. Obviously, this owner truly cares about her customers. As for the smash burger, OMG!!!! Delicious, tasty, flavorful, satisfying and juicy are some of the words that describe this burger. My wife said it reminded her of a backyard burger. We now have two reasons to visit Babydudes, their chocolate chip cookies and their smash burger. We will definitely be back!!!
This place has remarkable vibes and exceptional service! Don't get me started on the food, I'll be talking for hours. I got the Priscilla Queen of the Desert and my boyfriend got the Union Gate. We both agree that these were the best burgers we've had in our entire lives. I wish I could have one everyday Great job guys!!! & pleeeeease check this place out 10/10
When they were making brownies, they were the best I've ever eaten. Sorry they're closed now.
Beyond exceptional!! Impressive, excellent, delicious....hospitable.... I'm honestly offended to read the one stars because we had such an incredible experience, I refuse to believe that these people (Karens?) took it up with the staff as this is a family owned & operated establishment. This means the owners themselves are in there...wiping tables, serving the food, cooking the food, taking the orders personally... there's no way that the staff - the family.... Knew how these customers felt. It's tough to believe the complaints at all because everything was SO impressive. The cookie was crusted with a natural, good crunch but toward the middle gets super moist while the flavors intensify between the sweet, sprinkled with bits of salt. The lamb burger was balanced in juicy, organic flavors - said by a previous chef himself, my husband...believe it or not it's hard to find "balance" in foods, even to a decent cheeseburger because you can order a burger anywhere but ask yourself why they don't all taste the same? Because burgers are flavored differently. So the lamb burger...especially lamb...is an art to get right. Extremely satisfying, well done girls! The smash burger....smashing, darlings. Best I ever had! Seriously I crave it even now as I write about it. Juicy, flavored, perfectly cooked...organic. Again, be proud...well done, owners. Trust and believe the staff on their recommendations are honest so if in doubt then ask or have that conversation with them because they are very hospitable and will tell you what's really good! Like the corn dog. We were told it's "fire" and fire it was!! Moist cake...this is 10 stars. Can't wait to come back, this is now our go to in Morro Bay outside of Dorn's for breakfast. Now we have another hotspot dining! The owners are amazing, just be friendly and kind to their establishment and they will be friendly and kind to you!
Stellar service !!! We were walking thru downtown Morro Bay at night and heard some electronic music coming from baby dudes. When we approached, I asked what was going on and a person who worked there warmly invited us in. Great vibes. When we went to purchase beer, Ana took care of us. Ana was SO warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. We tried the chocolate chip cookies (holy moly - soooo good!!). We played pinball machines and danced to the DJ set. Made our whole trip to morro bay and we had a blast thanks to the people at baby dudes. Can't wait to be back and try some more of their food. Thanks Ana & friends!!
Upon searching for a burger for my boyfriend in this area that could bring him joy I stumbled on this place and the reviews were raving. I was skeptical at first because it seemed too good to be true. It wasn't. It met and exceeded expectations. My boyfriend had the Ms. frizzle burger and I had the chicken salad sandwich. Both of them are top tier choices. I will add this, I do not eat beef since I was 11, I'm 40 now. I've tried bites of my boyfriend's burgers or steaks over the years and I always end up spitting them out, sorry to be gross. But this time was different, not only did I take a bite and fully eat it, I asked for another bite. I would come here and eat half a burger with him any day here as it was that good. When you do something right, you do something right. They do something excellent. Well done, not to mention, friendly people, fun and lighthearted atmosphere. Don't deny yourself a baked good either. That sea salt chocolate chip cookie was top tier as well. Thank you to the owners of this place for making simply fire food. I only wish you were nearer to where we live!
Cool spot with thoughtfully prepared food, great beer and wine (love Riesling!) selection with both indoor and patio. The staff were fun and generous, and everything was really clean. Will be back to try the whole menu!
Might go off on a bit of a tangent. But... wow! Delicious, locally sourced, and queer owned! As a queer woman myself, it means so much to come into an atmosphere where you just feel at home. Great service and amazing quality food! 10/10 a must go if you're a foodie and enjoy beautiful people
I am pretty sure passerbyers could hear my euphoric pleasure in the best tuna sandwich in the world! Really, I love tuna sandwiches that are tangy, crunchy and built on fresh bread. The salt and vinegar chips within the sandwich sealed the deal.
Babydudes know what they're doing when it comes to food! Best Tuna Sandwich of my life. It feels ridiculous to pay this much for a tuna fish sandwich and yet I happily do it over and over and over again because it is that amazing. It's perfectly balanced - crunchy vinegary salty lemony briney with homemade bread. It's perfection Also, the burgers are incredible. Best burgers I've ever had. I love a smash burger and every time I order one of theirs I'm blown away. My favorites are the Ohgee and the Ms Frizzle. Cookies and brownie are also delicious. The ambiance inside is a little funky - not as warm and inviting as the food and service deserve - but it's evolving so do not be dissuaded by the mishmash decor. The food more than makes up for it and the owners are incredibly warm, kind people - stopping in here is always a bright spot in my day. There are pinball machines if you want to play and a large outdoor patio which is a nice place to sit. Check Instagram for the latest hours and menu info. They are constantly changing so that is the most accurate source of information.
The food was very good, but the ordering process was kind of odd. They only had one physical dinner menu that everyone in line had to share....you would think they would have enough copies so that you could take it to your table. They also did not let you run a tab, again odd for a "small plate appetizer" menu. They also did not let you taste wine without buying a glass at $14. On the positive side, the pork was very good as was the corn dog. The mac and cheese were very rich.
i visit morro bay a decent amount bc my partner's family lives here... finding food that can match up to the ambiance this amazingly beautiful town exudes has been an ongoing struggle. finally found the spot though... the vibe and decor are chaotic af (*somewhere btwn chaotic neutral and chaotic good for the nerds out there making alignment charts for central californian coastal eatery options... bonus modifier: + 10 charm bc of deliciousness and friendliness of staff which offset the otherwise confusing and quirky decor and layout). seriously i'm dumbfounded... the smash burger was to die for and the chicken salad sandwich was one of the best i've ever had. *(basically bunch of d&d/rpg nerd speak for this place being rad as all f&@?! and the adhd decorating scheme strangely adding to it's charm)
This scratch kitchen never disappoints. locally sourced, housemaid magic! The porcetta sandwich is absolutely amazing. The empanadas are next level! You will not be disappointed. Absolutely the best food you will find in Morro Bay.!
My boyfriend and I took a weekend trip to morro bay and stumbled on this restaurant when we visited the weekend farmers market. Plenty of seating and outdoor seating if you're bringing your dog like I did! The decor inside is nice and it's a clean shop. We ordered the Eric's road trip smash burger. You get chips with your order. Water is self serve. The only downside was that there were only 2 employees working so service was slow, but they were nice. It took 20 minutes for our burger to come out and they bring it to you if you're dining in. It was sooo good we were so surprised! We loved the bread and how crispy the meat was. Stopped in for a quick lunch, and got the Chicken Salad Sandwich, along with a Vanilla Matcha Latte. Will say, everything turned out good. Wasn't quite sure what to expect with the Harissa Mayo, but was quite surprised as it was different. Taste like an Indian spice? (I'm not sure) but it was good, went well & the toasted Sourdough is a nice touch. The Matcha latte was also good, not overpowering for those who don't quite like the taste of Matcha. Definitely want to try their Smash Burger! All in all: Friendly service, cool little spot. Worth trying out if you haven't yet! read more
Let me tell you, we just had the best meatball sandwiches we've ever eaten. Fresh bread, crunchy outside, soft inside--almost like the best pizza dough you've ever had, but fluffier and tastier. Meatballs seasoned with herbs and cooked so they're meaty yet soft if that's a thing. Sauce so flavorful, well seasoned, not too acidic. I think there was a combo of a crazy béchamel, cheese, and real good olive oil below the meatballs, which were covered in that luscious tomato sauce and the perf amount of salty parm. We sat there oooo-ing and aaaahhh-ing over every last bite. The owners came to check on us, ask how we liked it, because they're great hosts and service here is always good--but they knew. How could they not? This sandwich is perfect. read more

First of all, I love the vibe... pinball machines and books in a cozy space with a great patio outside. You can borrow the books... honor system. And every person we encountered was welcoming and helpful. Also, the food was amazing...a delicious niman ranch burger with an excellent sauce. I added caramelized onions and skipped the cheese. It is 11:05 on this Friday morning and just left this place to start off with I stood in this place (which sinks like a dog or something) for 15 minutes and no one around walked through the place and outside in the back asking pretty loudly if anyone was there. No one!! Then I stand at the register for a few more minutes and looking at the stuff they have on the walls and so on and just WOW!! I will never come back to this place and wouldn't suggest taking your children either!! The pictures speak for them selves on what kind of business this is and definitely not getting a penny from me!! read more

The ambiance here is top tier. The service is impeccable the food is different for the area but good. Everything is sourced locally and you can taste the difference. The patty melt was great! And the empanadas were delicious especially the pork. I really would like to try the pork sandwhich next time read more

This place is just wonderful all around, from the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the super excellent food we had. We came in early in the day as we were looking to have a quick lunch and saw that they were open and had some nice patio spots available to sit at. I ended up ordering the chicken melt sandwich and they were able to do that gluten free for me and I was so impressed with whoever supplies their gluten free breads and buns here as it was actually delicious! That is hard to find! The boyfriend got the smash burger and they were also able to make that gluten-free as well. Both sandwiches were top notch in flavor and presentation. Meats were so juicy and tender for everything and I really loved that everything was super fresh and just so darned flavorful. We also splurged on the mushroom toast which we split as an appetizer. I gotta tell you, it was worth the splurge for both of us as we were so darned happy with it! The amount of flavor that the chef here packed into those mushrooms and that amazing sauce and bread was just fantastic. We both cannot wait to come back again for another round of whatever they are putting together in this kitchen! Ooh! I almost forgot they have some excellent baked goods at their front counter as well... We picked up a great salted chocolate chip cookie and a gluten free brownie that was really stellar to bring home for later. read more

Freshly opened and wow!!! already such a winner. Nice outdoor space (dogs allowed) right at the corner of the main drags in town, friendly people and fabulous food. OK, it's mostly sandwiches, but we had 2 different kinds of beef sandwiches (roast beef, and brisket) and both were utterly delicious. Really different from each other too, which is a very nice touch. And then, I really have to try not to drool into my keyboard here, we had the most incredibly chocolate cake I've ever had in this county. Nearly a week later and I'm still having flashbacks. Worthy of the best bakeries in Paris. So it's not open a whole lot, basically weekend and adjacent, and they close mid-afternoon, you're going to have to aim carefully. But go, go!! I was camping in the area for a few days and always try to spoil myself by eating out once while in a town. I scrutinized all the reviews for all the seemingly great restaurants and Babydudes appealed to me the most and it didn't disappoint. The gal at the counter was great and friendly and when I asked for a recommendation she suggested the burger with beets and carrots (I forgot what it was called) and goodness it was excellent. It left me with a great impression of Morro Bay for sure. read more
Babydudes is such a nice addition to Morro Bay! This spot has a lot of great outdoor space, a very friendly dog and great people. The food is fantastic, locally sourced and a great deal. We tried the BLT and the Chicken Sanadwich, both were very hearty an prepared with care. Thick cuts of bacon cooked with just a light crisp and very fresh veggies on top. The chicken sandwich was massive, super light breading to give a little crunch. The bread on the BLT was so good, I'd buy the bread by itself. Definitely looking forward to watching this place grow. read more

Do you have taste buds and want to party?!? Then Baby Dudes is the place for you! Here is what you need to do. Get here early, start off with a creamy latte. Now you are ready for the egg sausage sammy with salsa and cheese. Everything is fresh, bread was baked, sausage sausaged, and the salsa is the perfect picante. Then let your belly rest, the sun shining, what else are you doing with your life beside transforming into the ultimate baby dude. It go time with the meatballs on focaccia pared with a sparkling lemonade. After you die and go to heaven it's time to reincarnate and devour the cheesecake with a chocolate bottom. You did it, you just won at life. Also the owners are hot foxes with hearts of gold. read more

I love how environmental- and health-conscious this place is. Unfortunately, I am not very health-conscious and probably won't be back because of my food preferences. I tried to stop by for a late lunch earlier in the week, but the sign said they were only open until they ran out of food. So, I came back earlier on another day. I ended up ordering their Pesto Chicken sandwich (no tomato) and a corndog (no relish). They prepare the food right there for you, it is really fresh. The Corndog was actually dipped in the batter and fried!! They serve it with some strange-to-me relish and don't carry ketchup. That's OK I was bringing it home and I have ketchup. It was good, the batter was nice and crispy on the outside but soft next to the hotdog. It definitely tasted different from corndogs I am used to but it was good. If I was there with other people I would order this, it might even be good without ketchup!! I loved the fresh made foccacia bread, nice and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The sandwich held together until the end. The sandwich had chicken bits in the middle of pesto and dressed greens. It was a bit messy to eat and if you order this I would recommend checking your teeth in a mirror afterwards!! The green bits kept falling out of the sandwich, and there were lots of tough stems in the dressed greens that I kept having to pick out. I am not sure how their pesto is made but I didn't like it much. Perhaps I only like cooked pesto, like on pasta or pizza? This pesto was fresh and had a crisp taste. I took a star away because even though I ordered no tomato and no relish, both were included in my order. I hate to waste food, the tomatoes were lovely and I am sure someone would have enjoyed them and the relish. I hope they do well, they are in a great spot on Main Street. They have lots of outdoor tables and even a little riser where, perhaps, they could have live music. Their menu will change often, so perhaps I will try them again if they have different offerings. I heard they had a fried chicken sandwich, that sounds good. I will just have to leave off the extras that I don't prefer. read more
