This place was very unique as it has all vegan very fulfilling dishes on their menu. I got a salad and it was huge plate, the spicy mayo like sauce was amazing!! Loved their fresh juices as they had wonderful combinations like Carrot and ginger. People are very friendly and even filled our water bottles! They have seating indoors, but if you like some sunshine, grab a seat outside by the side of the street and enjoy some street views! I was so excited to find this place, albeit on my last day and headed back home. I love fresh juice and they had some interesting combinations. I opted for the Emerald Garden, Mint Forest, and 2oz wheatgrass. They have a separate juice window, where they only make the juices. Even though I was the only one who ordered juice and was waiting, it took 20 minutes!!! I went over to ask if I maybe missed my juices and was told in a pretty rude manner that she would call me when it was ready. Meanwhile, there's a line of other people waiting for their juice, ordered after me. (They actually got theirs before and immediately after my order, not waiting more than 5-10 minutes). When I finally got my order it was gruffly given to me, warm, and the girl seemed annoyed when I asked questions, like, does this have cayenne in it? I ordered it without. Apparently they wrote it down as "extra cayenne"! I just went with it because it seemed just sprinkled on top and didn't want to wait another 20 minutes, as my breakfast sandwich across the street at the bakery was getting cold. The base was a fried tortilla and inside wer beans, greens, rice and a delicious sauce. It was really good. Probably my fave over the sandwich. Shine Cafe is one of those places where I wish there were more than 5 stars to give on Yelp. This vegan eatery does not make me miss eggs or cheese one bit. Everything from the two dishes we ordered were so bright and flavorful, I was genuinely shocked on how delicious the food was. The price of the food is reasonable for the portions they serve. We ordered two spring rolls and a Ruben. I'm not typically a tempe fan, but it was seasoned amazingly and added to both dishes. I can't begin to describe how awesome the food is, literally, just come eat here and find out for yourself. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They do take a bit to get food out to you when crowded, but they were also very transparent that it would take 20 to 30 minutes to get our food. I appreciated that! read more

The must go of Morro Bay for vegans. I believe this is the only fully plant based eatery in town and I went twice while here for the weekend. I had smoothies and a sandwich. Both tasted really fresh and worth the amount I paid for. You may be able to order the smoothies off to the side if someone's over there to help you. Otherwise you walk up to the counter to order. They have a selection of to go drinks if you are in a hurry though food items will take a bit of time so maybe call in to order if in a time crunch. My hotel was walking distance here but generally street parking should be available. The place has a good amount of seating for both indoors and outdoors if you want to stay awhile. Staff were friendly and helpful when I came. I may consider making this a detour when driving from NorCal to SoCal or vice versa. read more

There is an older woman who works the register and does not get the concept of cross-contamination or personal hygiene. I have repeatedly called in to talk to the manager about this, but nothing is ever done. So far I have seen this woman accept cash for food and go directly to serving soup to the person in front of me without washing her hands after handling money or the register, she reached into the large soup container with her bare hands and had her thumb on the inside of the soup serving bowl.. I had to walk out of the restaurant, hoping to catch a different service attendant next time. Alas, the next time I went in, which was yesterday, it was the same woman, and she was transferring freshly made soup to different large plastic containers and was going from using the register to reaching right into the soup containers without washing her hands a single time. I saw her bus a couple tables with dirty dishes and wipe them down, then go back to transferring soup without washing her hands again. When I approached the register, she turned around and asked me what I wanted., While she was wiping her hands on the butt of her pants!!! I do not want some old woman's fart-filled pants rubbed on my servers hands and then have them touch my food! Why does no one actually talk to this woman every time I complain?? read more

I have eaten at shine quite a bit over the years. For my birthday I went to the cafe for lunch. I ordered the Garden of Life salad. I counted 4 or 5 garbanzo beans, could barely find the hemp, some of the greens were wilted and yellow. I could have gotten a better salad at Lassens salad bar that looked fresher. There was a small have of a avocado. For 2 people with a smootie it was 40.00. Really expensive for such a low grade salad. I was super surprised as I have eaten there many many times and the salads were always rich with whatever you ordered. they also cut the size of the dressing. It was so small it didn't wasn't enough to cover all the greens. I was not happy as this was my 70th birthday and I was looking forward to eating here. I will never eat there again. I shop at Cornucopia which is a nice food store alternative to anything in Carmel I should have asked them to refund my $$. Today I am SLO but will be going somewhere else for lunch. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the food always tastes fresh. The cafe is quaint with both indoor/outdoor seating options. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you when it's ready. The Vegetable Spring rolls are HUGE and are a must-order menu item!! The seasoned tempeh has a great flavor, the carrots/red cabbage add a nice crunch, and the avocado & sesame ginger dressing are delicious. I highly recommend ordering these. I am not vegan, but I have thoroughly enjoyed all the entrees I have tried here. The food was incredible. We had tofu scramble and Asian salad slaw to share. The presentations were lovely and the service was efficient. The ambiance was quaint if you chose to sit inside the cafe or out by the market (excellent as well). All and all a wonderful experience and by far the best vegan fare in the central part of the central coast! read more

My partner and I eat here every time we're in Morro. It's a nice option to have when you want to avoid the deep fried options that are in abundance. The menu is small (but creative) which I appreciate, being someone who can get overwhelmed by too many options. For that reason, I can say that between me and my partner, we've tried almost everything they have to offer. Between the food and their freshly made juices, I can wholeheartedly say that I have never had anything bad at the place. Ever. Everything is so good -- outstanding really. Most recently I tried the T.L.T. and it's my favorite thing I've had there. No lack of flavor at Shine. They do have indoor seating but I have never eaten inside. We always bring our dog with us when we travel so we choose outdoor seating. Therefore, I can't speak for the ambiance indoor. Keep in mind too, that this is a "you bus" establishment. It can sometimes take a while for servers to bring your food, depending on how busy it is. I feel like that's to be expected especially when your food isn't coming from bags in a freezer. Everything here is fresh and also vegan. No processed junk. In my opinion, when there is a bit of a wait, it's worth it. You can't rush a good thing. They mark your table with The Medicine of Animals oracle cards. I think this is a unique and fun touch. We like to google our card when waiting for our food, find the meaning, and apply it to our day moving forward. I definitely recommend Shine Cafe, especially if you're trying to eat healthy. I love that as someone who does struggle with health issues, not only is there an option that meets my needs in that respect, but it's always so delicious every time too. At Shine, you can have both. Even if you're not on a health journey of some kind, or if you're not vegan (we aren't), I truly think Shine has something for everyone. read more

Stumbled upon Shine Cafe on our way to the antique store up the street. We saw someone eating the spring rolls with gusto so we decided to try them. They are amazingly delicious considering how simple they are. The island fever smoothie was all natural and delicious as well. They make it to order right in front of you. We sat outside on a beautiful day and people watched with their dogs. Best ambiance I can think of. We are not vegan but we enjoyed everything about our rolls and smoothie. Highly recommend! Outside, on about my 9th paper straw, I heard one woman say to another, "I've got real straws in my car." I drove several hours to Morro Bay today. I'd always eaten here growing up and loved it. Today, however, was a different experience. I got stuck in 4th of July weekend traffic. I started calling the restaurant 20 minutes before closing (when I realized I'd make it shortly before closing) and no one would answer. When I came in a few minutes before close they were all checking their phones and the one at the register told me they close in a minute and rolled her eyes, so unfortunatly, I left.
