Interesting and delicious waffles! Loved having sweet and savory choices. Smoothie was also great but super, super thick. Enjoyed our meal here!

We love this place- this is our go to breakfast spot. Consistently good and healthy food We would have eaten here all week- but they are considerate of their employees and took Wednesday-Friday off for Thanksgiving week Love this for them, taking care of their team members. I tried a bowl this time- it was super yummy with the elote. I always get the elote taco My hubby got the carnitas tacos- 1 breakfast one with egg and 1 brunchy one. We love the blue corn waffles and tacos. We bought several bags of the mix to take home with us. Wish they had one near us- we would be there everyday Cute, beach vibe decor Very clean in the restaurant as well as the restroom Plenty of parking available when we were there right at opening 9 am

I'm so happy I finally came back here!! If you're ever in cayucos or Cambria, you have to try the hidden kitchen. Cayucos location is the one open during the week, while Cambria is only weekends! You order your food first then go find seating inside or out in the back. Super cute establishment. There's merchandise for sale, miscellaneous items. The food is amazing. They're known for their blue waffle (delicious), but their tacos...wow. So good!!! The whole menu looks good, it's hard to order. They have specials too. The staff is nice and greet you. Whenever I'm in cayucos or Cambria, I'll always have some hidden kitchen.

Wow!!! Ok run, don't walk over here and enjoy some yummy food. I had a vegan bowl and my husband had the San Luis Sunrise and added turkey. Both were perfectly seasoned and flavorful. The blue corn waffle chefs kiss per husband! You order at the counter and staff bring the food to your table. Service was fast and staff were friendly. The dining area was a cute patio with a fantastic view!

Every trip to the beach must include a stop at Hidden Kitchen. The blue corn waffles and tacos are gluten free and delicious. Each month they have new specials and should not be missed. Plus, there are standouts on the recurring menu like the pork tacos and the Monte cristo waffle. The staff here is so friendly and helpful, the food is surprisingly fast for being made fresh and the location is to die for, don't be scared of the long line. It's worth it and moves fast!

The line outside was so short only had 2 people in front of me yet I waited for my order for an hour to go. Good thing I just love those blue corn waffles. I have yet to try a sweet one but the savory are so delicious. It was worth the wait

This place is darling and a one of kind type of place. It is a little expensive on the surface but so is everything in CA. Playing tourists we stopped in and sampled different tacos. The tacos were filled with top quality ingredients and the perfect mix of yum. There was not anything we did not like. Wish we had more time as we would have loved to sample the waffles.

I had never even heard of The Hidden Kitchen before till my cousin told me about it, so we checked it out while on a weekend roadtrip through Cayucos. It's not really that hidden--pretty much right on the main strip--but whatever, catchy name I guess. I got the "Weirdo" waffle and swapped out the peanut butter for whip cream (personal choice, don't judge). The waffle wasn't crispy, it was more soft and kinda cakey. It had a good flavor tho--kinda earthy and just sweet enough. The deep fried banana on top was superb. Like, I would've eaten a plate of just those. And the bacon ends? Man, they were delicious. Salty, crispy, just greasy enough to be right without feelin heavy. Also ordered one of their smoothies with almond butter and holy crap--probably the best smoothie I ever had. Thick, creamy, nutty, and felt like it shoulda been a cheat meal but somehow still tasted healthy. Cool vibe, good service, and they give you drinks in mason jars so you feel all rustic n' earthy. Prices were a bit up there, but it's one of those rare times where I didn't mind payin a little more. Totally worth it. If you're anywhere near Cayucos, do yourself a favor and swing by.

    Weirdos waffle

After seeing the endless posts about this place I knew I had to try it. But honestly, save your money at least for what I ordered. The overfilling of the smoothies leads to an anxiety inducing form of psychological warfare where you have to eat it quickly lest you risk spilling all over the table. This includes eating whatever topping is placed on the smoothie at an unkind ratio that does the smoothies flavor no favors. Additionally, I ordered the weirdo waffle and the almond butter used both looked excessively wet while simultaneously sucking all of the moisture out of every part of my mouth. My friends liked their food, and the service was fine but I cannot say I would spend money here again.

The reef ranchero tacos were amazing! The blue corn taco shells were soft and filled with beans, eggs and avocado so I had to eat with a fork. Service was great, staff were attentive and super friendly. They had a nice indoor and outdoor seating overviewing the beach.

What a fun place!! The setting is great with plenty of outdoor pup friendly tables with ocean views order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. We ordered the morro melt and the blue corn waffles with strawberries bananas and cream. Both were very filling, different, delicious and just fun!! Prices are reasonable. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

A little over half way through 10 day road trip w daughter. Favorite meal so far and I've been in the food business for 25+ years and own a bagel shop. Savory waffles, amazing location. Everything I'd want and expect in a coastal California experience. Peppers, corn, onion sautéed in something like a green chili sauce w melted havarti and half a nice ripe avocado. Blue corn waffle underneath. I added egg to mine. Delicious!! If you can stop there, it's a do not miss.

I ordered a blue waffle with fresh fruit to go and I was Not disappointed. Fresh coconut whipped cream, sliced strawberries and bananas and a side of maple syrup. Delicious! Customer service was quick and helpful. I did not eat inside. Maybe next time!

Cute gift shop, decor with country tchatchkes, doing some minor handiwork during open time - was a bit distracting. Loud with echoes due to concrete floors. Lots of loud local conversations heard across the restaurant, including discussions about city council meetings, etc. 3% Credit Card fee not posted in the menu, but rather on the board at the entry. Some people might miss this posting, which is unfortunate. Sat at a small table even though several larger ones were available and no one waiting. Seem to specialize in breakfast, which I have had here before and it was fantastic!! Friendly folks. Bottomless sodas, but they were flat and tasted too syrupy. Could have also been diet even though I ordered regular. Green leaf lettuce so I ordered a salad with my bacon cheeseburger and fries on the side. I appreciate that the server knew it was cheaper to get fries on the side instead of the salad on the side. Fries were seasoned a bit too heavy-handed, the burger was great., bacon cooked perfectly. Server quick to refill soda as I ate my meal. I will probably return here, especially for breakfast, but will pay with cash next time. Clearing off my phone I found some old pics from Carla's, boy does that breakfast and sandwich to-go look great!!

I was able to park in a handicapped place a couple of storefronts down. I was greeted with a "just one?", which as a single diner always gets my hackles up, do better!! The folks were friendly, it was pretty crowded. I considered the Eggs Benedict but was disappointed to see that the Hollandaise was "creole" flavored. I ended up ordering a basic breakfast: eggs, bacon, potatoes, english muffin. Can't go wrong with that, right? I ordered my eggs "broken over-hard" but they came out over-hard. I order this way to have the yolk spread out into the white. The english muffin was grilled, so not hard on the outside, but it was still good. The eggs were rubbery. The potatoes were a bit too spicy, I needed ketchup to eat them. Bacon was OK. Thin napkins, needed more. Plate was chipped. Had to use the restroom before leaving, it is now a gender neutral bathroom and Burt Reynolds is still presented in all his glory!! I must have a totally different sense of humor. Won't be back here, nothing on their menu appeals to me. Sorry.

If you've been following along on the journey, you know I was trying to keep this trip cheap. At least I was. Now, I'm just trying to salvage it with one last attempt at a reasonably priced restaurant. I suggested 2 places that didn't look too bad, one of which was The Hungry Fisherman. For whatever reason, my wife wasn't interested in either. A third option was a place at the end of Embarcadero that we first went to during covid. My thing was, we have a dog and I don't want to eat outside. It's cold and one place only seats people with pets outside. But since we've been there and my wife was mistaking it for another, she wanted to go there anyways. I guess we will leave the dog in the car? Idk. I come inside and we are looking at 30+ min. What if we take it to go? 20 min. What if we call it in? 20 min. Apparently, if you want to make a to-go order, you have to wait for the 2 servers to find the time to take your order in between waiting their tables. But I'm ranting about another restaurant that we didn't even stay at. But that's how we ended up here. I feel like when I parked, others were arriving at the same time, so I rushed in and grabbed a table. The sign says seat yourself, so we got the largest table there. It seated 8 and while I waited for my family to come in, I was hoping I didn't look odd sitting there by myself. Fortunately my family came quick and we got started. Looking at everything, the menu isn't expansive, but there were a lot of good looking options. I was split between the chicken fried steak and the chile verde burrito. I'm a little picky about my chile verde since it can either be too spicy or bland. Morro Bay isn't known for its Mexican population as far as I can tell, and I've been seriously disappointed in chile verde when it isn't cooked by natives. But since there is a page dedicated just to Mexican food, and the waitresses are off Latin descent, I give the chile verde burrito a go. Especially after I ask our waitress for her opinion. I'm glad I did because it exceeded all expectations. The avocado, the salsa, sour cream, it all just worked so well together. I got about 3/4 of the way with it and my daughter finished the rest. She also agreed it was good. My wife got the French toast, which was a bad idea. Not because it wasn't good, she loved it. But because bread makes her sugar spike, and the consequences came strong less than an hour later. To give you perspective, the tortilla on a burrito makes it spike. She knows what it does to her but she does it anyways. No fault of the restaurant. This one was on her. It must have been worth it because she finished her leftovers after her sugar crashed soon after. Everyone else loved their food as well. One thing I wasn't aware of is that they serve cinnamon coffee. When I got my first refill, she asked if I wanted cinnamon. You can be excused for not knowing since I don't even see coffee on the menu, let alone cinnamon. I must have had at least 3 cups in the less than 40 min we were there. Looking around the inside, it's very nice inside. It's not ritzy by any means, but I did enjoy looking around inside. We also discovered a now binge-worthy show to watch that was playing behind us-Worse Cooks In America. I hooked that out was on so patrons would appreciate the good food in front of them. Also on the way out, looking inside the cooking area -all Mexicans. So it makes sense that the food was so authentic. Like I said, we will be back. Morro is our weekend vacation spot, so that's a promise

I ordered my soda to be delivered with my meal so I got my refill while I was still eating. Not much ice, had to move more from my water. Also soda a bit flat (might be because it is Pepso?) Fries were great, hot and crispy. I salted them myself and ate with Ranch. The burger was warm but a bit thinner than I have had here before. The bun was nice. Definitely will return here again and pay cash, just won't order the chicken strips!!
