This place is awesome. Some shaggy haired dude with a David Letterman smile made us the best sausage sandwich. Then he helped us pick out sausages to go. Can't wait to bbq them up. Great food and friendly people.

Local Take: This Cayucos Deli, Butcher, & Sausage store is peerless when it comes to fine homemade Sandwiches, handcrafted sausages, & more. Even though I live within walking distance of a fine Italian Deli in Shell Beach, I will find almost any excuse to go 45 minutes out of my way to chat with Don [the master sausage crafter] and Junee [who runs the show], and of course eat a wonderful sandwich & grab some freshly crafted gourmet lean savory sausages to take home. Despite the Sausage name, they are so much more than sausages. This cute clean little store is packed with all kinds of goodness, which even includes some Deli items like Pickled Mushroom salad & local Negranti Sheepsmilk Ice-cream. They arguablable make some of the very best sandwiches in the entire SLO County. Forget boring factory made Deli mystery meats when you can have a sandwich filled with their delicious Roast Pork, with a side of a rack of ribs, plus a salad. I typically go for the local Rye Bread, Chipotle Mayo, Smoked Cheddar, & the other typical fixings of a superior sandwich. Not only is the made in house pork excellent, but their Ribs & Mary's Roast Chicken are amazing as well. Don has told me that he has been crafting and making sausages since he was about 12 years old and it really shows in his creations. Pretty much whatever sausage I can pick, I do like or love. He makes a wide variety, and spices & seasons them in a unique way...so you may find that more pedestrian varieties have a special savory twist here. He also makes some creations that are totally unique & cannot be found anywhere else. If you think Alle-pia, Cal-Poly, & some other SLOcal sausages are good [they are], Don goes a step further, & has exceeded almost any expectations. I do have an issue with many other sausages having too much fat, spices, or additives, but here I have not only can digest them fine, but love the texture, flavor, and bite. In addition to the Deli, Sausages, Sheepsmilk Ice-cream, Don also curates a really nice selection of fine meats & steaks...so it is also a fine little neighborhood butcher shop. Apparently Cayucos locals know about this place, but I have found that most locals, that are not Cayucos natives, generally do not have a clue about this amazing place. While many may feel it is a long trip to come here, it is not if you also combine this with a visit to any of the local Farmers Markets in the area, or are in the Morro Bay/Baywood area anyway. This is likely one of the few superior Deli's on the drive north. There are excellent Farmers Markets every Thursday [outside of Spencer's Morro Bay Market 2PM] or Mondays in quiet little Baywood....but a meal may not be complete without some great sausages or meat. While Morro Bay's Saturday Farmers Market has mainly crafts & little food, it can again be a good excuse to take a side trip up north a bit. In addition, Cambria also has a fine Friday 2PM Farmers Market & again, you can stop here in Cayucos, on the way there or back. If you happen to come to Cayucos, or are even driving by on Route 1, this is a total no-brainer....especially for locals. This place is one of our local small business treasures filled with fine eats and lovely friendly people. It definitely wins my coveted $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ LOCAL TAKE - GOLD SEAL OF APPROVAL $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ If you are visiting our wonderful area, please be mindful that this is not only our home, but that of all the natural wonders. Also be please be mindful that COVID is almost always a concern & please respect others wishes. Thank you!

    Lots of delicious products.

Delicious, great deli to stop for a sandwhich or some baby back ribs. Sausages take a little longer so we didn't get to try them.

Sandwiches are ok, and the French bread is very thick. I don't get the hype. Friendly service.

Picked up oysters at 11:30am, Neal was super welcoming (and gave us plenty of ice!). We drove just down the road to the Coleman park picnic area (no tables at the dock). We brought our own shucking tools, but they had ones available. These are the most incredible oysters--deliciously crisp, buttery, and light, and easy to shuck. We had a little lemon and homemade mignonette, but they were so fresh and delicious they hardly needed it. They are midsize, so two dozen was the right amount for two people. It's quite a drive from LA area (3hrs 30min), but was so worth it.

I was surprised to see them being sold at some of the Whole Foods locally in California, a real bonus! This company is a reflection of coastal fishery heritage. I have friends who like to BBQ the larger shell oysters, I prefer the medium to small and raw. The 24 Gold Carrot hot sauce is a real nice accent, it does not overpower the oyster. Either you love or dislike oysters, and these are the only ones I enjoy as I'm not a huge shellfish fan, but I found a home here. Your best bet is to buy these retail from companies who sell them. I was able to have an order shipped direct and they arrived fresh and well packaged. True stewardship of all the God given gifts we enjoy.
