Even though we just polished off the legendary smoked salmon tacos at Ruddell's Smokehouse nearby (review: https://bit.ly/3n3G7KG), Jamie W. and I found something very alluring about finding an ice cream parlor at the base of the popular Cayucos Pier. You may already know Cayucos is a popular beach town on the Central Coast but not nearly as crowded as Pismo Beach. The more casual vibe made it more conducive for us to split a $6.50 Double Scoop Cup. We deserved two flavors, we felt, so we went with Coconut Pineapple (a slam dunk) and Moose Tracks (photo: https://bit.ly/38Ppl9U). OK, Jamie chose Moose Tracks since the name sounded to me like, well, what you find in your underwear when...oh, you know. But it was actually vanilla streaked with fudge and peanut butter. Nothing wrong with that. ICE CREAM - 4 stars...creamy goodness AMBIANCE - 4 stars...an old-fashioned sweets shop SERVICE - 3.5 stars...friendly enough TOTAL - 4 stars...get two flavors, you deserve it RELATED - Exploring California's Central Coast? Nice selection of candy--some old-fashioned choices I haven't seen in years. Tasty ice cream--got mine in a waffle cone because my parents never let me as a kid but now I am an adult with my own money so I went for it! Friendly service, too, which is always a plus! Glad I stopped in on a whim.

We were at Morro Bay this weekend and the granddaughter wanted some ice cream and the wife wanted some gelato what we went to the the candy counter well they were out of gelato they couldn't make shakes they couldn't make malts out of gelato all they had was like five containers maybe six of ice cream and a crap load of candy and I'm like okay your ice cream shop and you can't even give me a malt it a milk shake because you're out so that's why I have to give them a three stars other than that my wife said her Sunday was okay and of course my daughter got some candy of course she's going to say it's okay but other than that I give these guys three stars they got to get their stuff together the states opening back up

One word; AFFOGATO! Omgosh! I discovered something new! I like coffee and chocolate but not together. That is until now!!" I asked Dave (adorable Barista that works there) what an affogato was and tried it and love it! It's dark chocolate gelato with a shot of espresso topped with whipped cream. Sounds whatever but the combo is unique and addicting. My husband and I visit seasonally and sometimes make the ride, via Harley, just for the fun of it. We enjoy the fun candies of our childhood and finding new stuff for the grandkids. Now when we go cruising if there is a place that serves affogatos I order one but honest haven't found a place between Camarillo and Cayucos that comes close to matching the craving I get for Dave's Affogato. It's worth the drive from Camarillo.

Cute candy shop with a variety of treats to choose from. Kind of on the smaller side. They also have a small ice cream shop, but the ice cream didn't look all great. I ended up purchasing their chocolate truffles: peanut butter and milk chocolate. They were big and decently priced. It's a nice place to go inside to pass time, but otherwise you could skip it.

Cute place! We came in for gelato and it was delicious. We ate it right outside on one of the little benches out there. It's right next to the pier and beach area. A little kid's heaven, basically!

My order Choco chip gelato is the best not overly sweet

Very overpriced and staff was a bit grumpy. I wouldn't return and would rather drive elsewhere than go back.

This time, I ordered a half pound of sliced tri-tip and requested it rare, along with a half rack of baby back ribs. Unfortunately, the tri-tip was not rare when I got it, and it was sliced thinner than I expected. The flavor also wasn't nearly as good as I remembered from previous visits. At about $12 for half a pound, I was disappointed by the quality. I also ordered a half rack of baby back ribs for around $16. While they were okay initially, they didn't seem as flavorful or tender as the ribs I had enjoyed here before. The leftovers I reheated the next day were particularly disappointing and not very enjoyable. In the past the ribs were great reheated. I may have caught them on an off day, but this visit was a noticeable step down from my previous experiences. Given the prices and the excellent food I've had here in the past, I left feeling disappointed and hoping this was just an isolated experience.

They're known for their signature hand stretched taffy. They have around 18 flavors! Sold in 3 sizes. 1/4 lb $3.25, 1/2 lb $6.50, and 1lb $13. But they aren't a one trick pony. They also sell home made.. fudge (in Over 6 flavors) , cinnamon rolls, caramel apples, cotton candy, peanut brittle , chocolates (8 varieties); and hard candy, lollipops, soft serve and a full coffee menu. The taffy keeps me coming back. The taffy has a melt in your mouth creaminess after the first chew. Nice balanced caramelized sugar and butter base. But on hot or super cold days, the taffy can get that sticky stretch. Ok now to the ordering protocol. There are two walkup windows, two separate lines. The day I dropped in, folks were making up lines. Line cutting, very chaotic. And near customer taffy raging. Like these folks need more sugar. The cashier was in a bit of a frazzled mood. Not grumpy but exhausted. I really can't blame her. The crowd was ruff and unruly. Demanding. But she continued to provide on point customer and kept the kind moving. Kudus to her for her customer service skills.

Same great beef jerky from familiar flavors to the more exotic meats. Over the years the staff has been great; welcoming, engaging, and helpful. To name a few jerky options they have .... beef, shark, alligator, ostrich, rabbit, turkey, duck, trout, tuna, salmon, python, elk, boar, boar, buffalo, and kangaroo. I know some of you are intrigued while others are perplexing out.I usually stick to the beef. But I have ventured and bought shark, alligator, and buffalo before. Pliable, softer but not mushy, tasty jerky. Made without MSG, preservatives, or nitrates so alot healthier. Family recipes. They sell in a variety of sizes/pricing and flavors such as black pepper, teriyaki, srirachi, and habanero. Mmm. They also sell novelty candy including chocolate bacon, hot sauces, cold case drinks, snacks, and small gifts (plushies, stickers, cards, etc). The chocolate bacon is one of my go to buys because it's less than $5 and come on... it's chocolate AND bacon, nuff said. The actual shop is in the small shopping plaza on the street side of the three stacks and maritime museum which by the way the museum has outdoor displays and small museum (all free and accept donations). The jerky shop has free parking in a lot with plenty of spaces. Can't stop in the shop in person? Check out their website for their online shop.
