So glad we visited Sandy's Deli today in Cambria! It's a place we have passed by so many times,…read morewhich I absolutely regret. This is place is no frills and all flavor. You order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. The first sandwich that caught our eye was the Godfather, and Arian at the counter told us it was his favorite and recommended it. He did not let us down! The bread was fresh baked (still warm!) and the ingredients were great, including Italian meats, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and melted cheese. It comes with a generous about of condiments including yellow mustard so now that going in if mustard is not your thing (it is definitely MY thing). We asked about the soup of the day, which was chicken tortilla. The soup was piping hot and stayed hot the whole time we ate it and was so flavorful, full of fresh ingredients, and not greasy or heavy. A nice portion of tortilla chips came with and were a great addition. My wife and I shared both of these on a quick Saturday visit to Cambria and could not believe we have been missing out for so many years on this beautiful little deli and bakery. The patio area seating was nice and shaded for us to enjoy our meal. The service was so friendly and fast, we can't wait until our next day trip to Cambria to try more of their food. We were so impressed with our first visit!

Long Review: This place is a Main Street stalwart, and is located a Rios the street from the Shell station. A family-owned spot with really friendly service. It's so nice to see the same people each time you return, and they like seeing you too. They have a wide range of sandwiches, sides, salads, desserts, and smoothies. My favorites are the Hot Pastrami and the Turkey/Bacon/Avocado Club. Very consistently good each time I order. They are usually busy, so I may recommend calling ahead. Ample seating both inside out outdoors, and a great spot for groups. Give 'em a try!

The Spot is a lovely family owned and operated restaurant, offering both beautiful tree views,…read more delicious food and the hospitable service unique to family operated businesses. My husband and I shared the pastrami panini and a bagel with cream cheese. Both satisfied our appetite and the pastrami panini especially delighted our tastebuds. The pastrami panini was a perfect balance of flavors and textures with the saltiness of the pastrami, the tartness of the mustard, the creamy avocado and the crispy French roll. It was simplistic deliciousness at its finest. And the kale Caesar salad that accompanied the sandwich was tasty enough to be a meal on its own! Sandwiches are just the right size to eat on your own of share. The menu is extensive and you are sure to find something to please everyone in your group (pics are missing one side of the menu that features smoothies) Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available and though busy, service was efficient and attentive. Felt like we were being served by family!

My husband and I shared an acai bowl and garden scramble. To start off positive, the roasted potatoes with the scramble were excellent and they were kind enough to sub our toast for fruit at no extra charge. The scramble itself tasted as it should have. The acai bowl was terrible. It was extremely watery (like the consistency of juice) and had ice chunks in it. We should have returned it right away to ask them to make it again, but I was really surprised at how bad it was. Absolutely would not get again. The coffee was also bad. I was expecting diner coffee, but it was not good for even diner coffee. I don't think I would be back nor would I recommend this place as a breakfast option while in Cambria.

I've done some comparison shopping in recent weeks, and the cafe wins every time. One place in town prepares "country potatoes" as large cubes of potato with no seasoning. Cambria Cafe cooks prepare them as small cubes, seasoned and fried exactly as I like (I can't define the spice combination, but I like it). My scrambled eggs are never dry or runny, and hash browns invariably have just the right crisp texture. They also serve really good coffee, something which most restaurants can't seem to manage. This morning I tried their chicken-fried steak for the first time, and it was as good as my wife's, which is saying something. The ambiance is what I'd expect from a small local cafe, comfortable, but not extraordinary. I'll continue to patronize "my" cafe as long as they'll have me.
