When we dropped by, the place was busy. Crills Salt Water Taffy in Morro Bay that is. It's been…read morearound since 1970. Look for the bright soft blue colored stand. They're known for their signature hand stretched taffy. They have around 18 flavors! Sold in 3 sizes. 1/4 lb $3.25, 1/2 lb $6.50, and 1lb $13. But they aren't a one trick pony. They also sell home made.. fudge (in Over 6 flavors) , cinnamon rolls, caramel apples, cotton candy, peanut brittle , chocolates (8 varieties); and hard candy, lollipops, soft serve and a full coffee menu. The taffy keeps me coming back. The taffy has a melt in your mouth creaminess after the first chew. Nice balanced caramelized sugar and butter base. But on hot or super cold days, the taffy can get that sticky stretch. Ok now to the ordering protocol. There are two walkup windows, two separate lines. The day I dropped in, folks were making up lines. Line cutting, very chaotic. And near customer taffy raging. Like these folks need more sugar. The cashier was in a bit of a frazzled mood. Not grumpy but exhausted. I really can't blame her. The crowd was ruff and unruly. Demanding. But she continued to provide on point customer and kept the kind moving. Kudus to her for her customer service skills.

For me, every trip to Morro Bay requires a stop at the Morro Bay House of Jerky. Been dropping in…read morefor a very long time. The last visit didn't disappoint. Same great beef jerky from familiar flavors to the more exotic meats. Over the years the staff has been great; welcoming, engaging, and helpful. To name a few jerky options they have .... beef, shark, alligator, ostrich, rabbit, turkey, duck, trout, tuna, salmon, python, elk, boar, boar, buffalo, and kangaroo. I know some of you are intrigued while others are perplexing out.I usually stick to the beef. But I have ventured and bought shark, alligator, and buffalo before. Pliable, softer but not mushy, tasty jerky. Made without MSG, preservatives, or nitrates so alot healthier. Family recipes. They sell in a variety of sizes/pricing and flavors such as black pepper, teriyaki, srirachi, and habanero. Mmm. They also sell novelty candy including chocolate bacon, hot sauces, cold case drinks, snacks, and small gifts (plushies, stickers, cards, etc). The chocolate bacon is one of my go to buys because it's less than $5 and come on... it's chocolate AND bacon, nuff said. The actual shop is in the small shopping plaza on the street side of the three stacks and maritime museum which by the way the museum has outdoor displays and small museum (all free and accept donations). The jerky shop has free parking in a lot with plenty of spaces. Can't stop in the shop in person? Check out their website for their online shop.

Cute little shop. We popped in because we love jerky, and the jerky here was flavorful but TOUGH…read more And the snacks generally were really overpriced - like $8 for a bag of candy overpriced. The owner was friendly and helpful, and it's nice to support a local business. The shop is right next to a huge parking lot, so it should be easy to find a spot nearby.
