Exceptional service,Ambiance and delicious food! A true lifesaver.We finished walking along the Embarcadero and decided to find a spot to eat a bit further away from the main pier... We didn't realize how early things started closing, and we quickly found ourselves stuck with almost no options! By total accident, we stumbled upon this Thai restaurant.When we walked in, we asked if they were closing. They told us they were shutting down in just a few minutes, but they kindly welcomed us in anyway! It was such a wonderful, generous act. Franz sat us down and was incredibly friendly, attentive, and kind, making sure we were completely taken care of even though it was past closing time.To make things even better, the food was absolutely amazing! Every single dish we ordered was incredibly delicious. We walked out happy as a clam with very full bellies. Service was good! It's a cute little hole in the wall, and definitely a local spot. It was 100% full the whole time I was there on a Friday evening. The pad Thai was marvelous-- dark and tamarindy, with a silky sauce that coated everything well. Presentation wasn't super thoughtful, as it looked like it had already been mixed, but the flavor made up for it. Some more veg would have also been appreciated. A really good and authentic Thai restaurant in morro bay! It is also vegetarian and vegan friendly, a plus for me! This is located along the main road as you enter morro bay via highway 1 so very easy to find in town. The place is on the bigger side for restaurants in town and when we were there it was pretty busy but we luckily were seated right away. Pretty standard dishes for Thai restaurant, allowing you to order protein of choice along with noodles, soups, curries and other entrees. Nothing particularly stood out to me but that's not to say the food wasn't good. The server staff are quick and very friendly. Would heavily consider going here again if I find myself in the area. read more

We have been patronizing Thai elephant in Morro Bay for over 15 years. The last two times we have been there with our families we have been disappointed in the food. We had two orders of spicy eggplant with chicken and couldn't find any chicken in the meal. Tiny little dried up pieces of tough chicken. Flavor was great, but no chicken. Had two other meals that were supposed to have chicken and beef in them and again couldn't hardly find any of the protein. Also requested to Thai iced teas with light ice. The entire glass was full of ice when we received our drinks. I know times are tough, but they're gonna get tougher for this restaurant if they don't get it together. It was cozy and warm, the service staff were so polite and on top of everything (only 2 servers were working all the tables), and the food was really delicious. Ordered some take out to watch the World Series so can't speak much to the ambiance or service. However, I was impressed that the owner made good on remaking an order of pineapple fried rice that ended up being very spicy to the point where I could not eat it. She said it never should have been made that way unless requested and wasn't sure what happened but the fresh order of non-spicy pineapple fried rice was so good! The chicken and shrimp were not overcooked and I loved the bits of raisins and cashews added in. I could eat this again and again. We had 3 ordered of satay chicken and the cucumber and peanut sauce that came with it was perfect. The chicken skewers itself were a bit inconsistent as some of the pieces were a bit overcooked but some were perfect and moist. I would still order these again though. Exceptional service and generous portions! The hot cheese puffs were incredible--crispy on the outside, perfectly soft on the inside, and totally addictive. I also had the Tom Kha Seafood soup, which came with a fragrant mix of coconut milk, lemongrass, mushrooms, cilantro, and onions. The presentation was lovely, and the seafood was fresh and tender. The broth - too tart or sour for my liking, however. (Maybe it was the cilantro?) I came back the next day to try the crab fried rice--and it did not disappoint! I love thai food and am a sucker for pad thai. I've had a good number of pad thais across different restaurants and I gotta say, I love the flavor this one brings. Its got deep savory flavors and you can taste the tamarind. The noodle was also perfectly cooked leaving a savory sauce to go with each bite. My friend who dined with me got the teriyaki bowl. Kind of a regret. The bowl didn't come as tasty. The teriyaki flavor just didn't taste quite right unfortunately No worries, the pad thai carried us through. read more

Thai Elephant is a must-stop spot in Morro Bay and honestly one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been to! My sister and I stop every time we are in town and send all of our friends here. The service is always sweet and welcoming. They easily accommodated our party of 9 on a busy holiday weekend and everyone was so blown away with how delicious everything was, absolutely no complaints from a party of 9 is a big deal ok, haha! Pleeeease do yourself a favor and start with their hot ginger tea omg it is absolutely addicting. It comes out in the cutest elephant tea pot and it definitely has a wonderful not overly sweet taste. Thai tea and sake are also great options. I also love to start with the garlic edamame and papaya salad. They are perfect to share with a couple people. I've sampled a few of my friends dishes from chicken with eggplant to pineapple fried rice to chicken pad Thai, but the curry dishes remain my favorite. Thai curry is just one of the most flavorful and warming dishes on this planet and Thai Elephant knows how to do it right. Be sure to specify your spice level and tolerance and let them do the rest. The flavors in their curry are unbeatable and bowl is so big it seems never-ending, just how we like it! I've tried the pumpkin curry , pineapple red, green, and yellow and let me tell you it's nearly impossible to decide. Maybe a tie between green and red. Bring all your friends and order one of each! You can't go wrong here. And if you're in the market for some cute homemade gifts like candles, they have that too, and they smell incredible. Amazing delicious made to Order Thai dishes. They are pretty prompt at bringing out your food. Not a very long wait. Although it is a cozy small eating area indoors you still feel comfortable because there's so many people enjoying and having good conversation with friends or family I just felt at ease at this restaurant. Very comfortable and not stuffy at all. The pineapple fried rice is top-notch that would be my first recommendation. We also tried the green curry soup, which is silky green curry, it's delicious. My husband had the orange chicken, which was also very good. My daughter ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and shrimp. I believe it was. It was just chicken. we all ate family style cause there's plenty of food and enough to take home for that midnight snack attack. We really recommend this restaurant. Great customer service, but my Pad Thai was not edible :( I had a few bites of it and got it for takeout, thinking it might taste better the next day, but I ended up tossing it. Maybe someone else would like it, but it was so sweet and drowned in sauce that I felt like I was eating goop. You couldn't even taste the noodles or vegetables, only the sauce. Maybe if you liked the sweet sauce, you would like it, but unfortunately I didn't and it was the only thing I could taste. I feel bad because the wait staff and host were SO nice and attentive.
