Typhoon Thai and Asian eatery in the University Square plaza serves a limited selection of milk and bubble teas, as well as soft serve ice-creams from their sister operation of Milk In It which occupies the same indoor space. Typhoon mainly focuses on offerings of Thai and Asian dishes, as well as Korean style corn dogs. There is limited indoor seating and they have outdoor patio tables as well. Both areas were extremely clean.

The food was okay, the rice was honestly the highlight of the meal. Fluffy and moist. The curry was pretty bland.

I thought it was really yummy! I personally thought the portion was a good size, I had left overs and it stayed good. The staff is nice and I like how they kept milk-in-it in the menu. I found myself craving it again today, and the prices are about the same as everywhere else in slo. edit: i came back today and it was sooo good lol i change my opinion to 5 stars and the staff was so nice to every customer and the restaurant is really clean and nice

    Just as Advertised!

I was iffy about dining here, the self service had really blurry images with noise so I couldn't really tell if the food would at least look good to the eyes. As it turns out, there's more to this chicken than meets the eye. It was served as shown in my captured image! SLO May not have had the thunderstorm hit but this typhoon sure hit the spot! I gobbled it up quicker than a barefoot Jack rabbit on a hot greasy griddle in the middle of August. My compliments to the chef, I will be coming back, not only for more of the Chicken Pad Thai, it warmed my heart and increased my HP it feels like!

I frequent Typhoon even before it was Typhoon and the customer service is always great. I normally order the Pad Se Ew but I got the Boat Noodle Soup to sit down. The crispy fish skin was super crunchy and the noodles were a good texture. I liked the overall flavor. The shop is a little small and the ambiance is very cute and cozy. I would recommend if you are looking for a little quick thai pickup.

Corndogs were ok, but the curry was not very good very small and more like curry flavored broth. Not worth $17.

Soft serve was decent but they don't show you the prices until the very end and it is insanely overpriced. Not worth it.

It wasn't too filling to where we lost our appetite for the main entrees. We got the grilled teriyaki salmon, fried rice, and the Mongolian plate. The fried rice came with crispy chicken and it was so good! The salmon had a little bit of crispiness to it which is good. The Mongolian plate wasn't too spicy but we were able to add some chili oil to make it a little more spicy. The food we ordered was really good. They have a good variety of options which made me want to try more but I will just have to come back another time to try more. The service was good... the server was kind and tentative. At first, i was confused if someone was going to take our order but i soon realized that there were only two servers that day.

It was the end of a long, windy, and rainy drive all the way from 17-Mile Drive after heading down from San Jose. By the time I reached Morro Bay around 8:00 PM, my GPS and phone signal finally started to return. I then drove from west to east and reached San Luis Obispo, which I had visited the day before and which had left me with a very good impression. A kind police officer had even left a citation on my windshield with a $0 fine after I mistakenly parked my car in a commercial loading zone in Chinatown during a restricted time I hadn't realized was in effect. That Chinatown was small--perhaps the smallest I have ever seen--though I once thought the one in Singapore was the smallest, but then again, isn't all of Singapore essentially a Chinatown? I drove back into the heart of San Luis Obispo that evening, and instead of just finding a Domino's pizza, I decided to have a proper sit-down dinner. I searched for restaurants near me, and Thai Delight Cuisine popped up with a high score on Google Maps, only a few minutes away. I arrived around 8:20 PM, parked by the road, and paid the parking fee through a kiosk. The machine was as kind as the policeman and only charged me until 9:00 PM, after which parking was free. Once I entered the restaurant, every table was occupied except for one that hadn't even been cleaned yet. I was seated after being greeted kindly by three different waitresses. I was cold and sweaty from the drive, but I still ordered a glass of Thai tea for the caffeine, knowing I still had almost four hours of driving ahead of me. Unfortunately, the tea was too sweet and lacked the strong, aromatic flavor that a normal Thai tea should have; it felt more like a glass of sugar water. The atmosphere was very pleasant, though it was interesting to note that in the entire restaurant, only two of us were Asian, and we were the only two using chopsticks. Being in wine country, the restaurant had a large storage area with various wines that looked excellent, but I was in a hurry and not in the mood for a tasting. The Tom Yum seafood was served quickly, just a few minutes after I placed my order. It arrived in an aluminum pot that lacked the traditional middle chimney but was still good-looking. I took several pictures of the dish and then used my right hand to take the spoon to pour the soup, but I was "bitten" by the spoon--a very strong pain in my finger. I was confused and tried to take the spoon a second time, but I dropped it again. I realized the tip of the spoon had been resting directly over the fire underneath the pot and had become extremely hot. I had to grab some ice from my water to try and cool down my finger. The Tom Yum soup was neither spicy nor sour--perhaps just a hint of sourness, but far too little. It wasn't spicy at all, and the waitress didn't even ask for a spice level when I ordered. I wouldn't give this Tom Yum top marks if I were in Bangkok, as it was well below average, but honestly, it didn't taste bad on a cold night after a long drive. The seafood in the pot was very fresh, which I didn't expect to find in the middle of the mainland. The shrimp were big and tender, the crab was fresh, and the scallops and fish were all high quality; they used good sea fish rather than cheap basa. The only pity was that the soup was too sweet without that strong sour attack, which is the spirit of Tom Yum itself. I waited quite a while for the fried rice to arrive, only to find it contained the exact same ingredients: squid rolls, mussels, shrimp, crab legs, scallops, fish, and even tomatoes. It was identical to the Tom Yum, just in a different form. I wish they had told me the ingredients were the same when I ordered! The taste wasn't bad, even though the tomatoes and eggs were slightly burnt with dark marks and the rice was a bit too moist. Again, it was just way too sweet. So, in the end, I had a glass of sugar water, a pot of sugar soup, and a plate of sugar rice, and I got my finger burnt in the process--but I would still give it 4 stars. The seafood was incredibly fresh, the environment was very warming, and overall, I think I had a very good trip.

They have a lot of space inside and some out. Its very casual and fast type of restaurant. A place you can come with anybody! Always have to stop by here whenever I'm at SLO. My favorite is pad thai no matter where I go, but nowhere is like this place where EVERYTHING IS GOOD. I always compare their pad thai to everywhere else I go too. Can't forget their pad see ew, vegetables have a nice chew and beef easy to eat. The flavors are just right. You can also adjust spiciness! Just let them know how you like em! Not going to lie, their thai teas differ sometimes, but still good nevertheless. If you like it strong, this is it! I highly recommend the green thai tea, a bit sweet than the coffee and regular ones xP.

She pointed to the menu on top of her head, which is right there above the cashier, but I was standing so far at the back of the line which was at least 50 feet away, that I could not read the stuff on the menu that was over her head. But the point is that she wasn't even nice about it and said OK fine I'll give you a menu. When I finally made my decision, I asked her if I needed it to be on the other line or the line that she was standing at and she retorted - please give me a minute. There was no kindness. There was no common courtesy, just a matter of fact approach to really, an out of towner, tourist, who's just trying to give her restaurant's food a shot. I'm just really shocked at the rudeness. I proceeded to order the flat Thai noodles with mung beans and chicken. It came. It was fresh. But honestly, it lacks any flavor. Sorry. It was a disappointment. I'm from South East Asia. I know what I'm talking about. I would be generous to give them a 3/5. Sorry. It's not very good food at all. Which means there's nothing to say about this place other than - step up your Thai food game. Or be nice at least.

I've been here with three different friends and they all ordered the boxing chicken. The chicken is moist and well done with delicious light Thai flavors. TLDR: Don't let appearances fool you - this place has great food!…read more This review comes after trying many Thai restaurants in the area (10!) and ordering the same thing. Thairiffic hits my bay area food snob craving on every level. Ironically, this was the last of the Thai restaurants I tried, and for good reason. It looks dinky and drab from the outside. The name is a dad joke (which I love). Visiting on a random weekday evening, the place was close to empty. As far as appearances go, the place didn't give much to hope for. However, I was beyond pleasantly surprised after receiving my order for pad see ew + pad thai. There were three things immediately apparent that made Thairiffic stand out: 1. Unlike (almost) every other Thai place, Thairiffic honored my request for maximum spice. There is a definite kick for their "Thai hot" level. 2. Unlike (almost) every other Thai place, the Pad Thai had a balanced flavor profile. Other places DOUSE the pad thai in sugar - yuck. This was a Pad Thai with savoriness, saltiness, sweetness, sourness, and spice. Yum. 3. The pad see ew had a distinct wok hei + golden mountain sauce flavor. Nice! I will also say that the shrimp in the pad thai was decently flavorful - same with the beef in the pad see ew. This is in contrast to the often "secondhand slap on" approach to the meats/proteins that I've had at other Thai places. Lastly, the price point here is I think the lowest of all the Thai places I've tried. If I could, I'd give it another star for that alone! The pad kee mao was okay. I think I'll stick to the pad thai and pad see ew. There's a decently sized menu with many other options (eg kao soi) which I'm excited to try. Above all else, I'm happy to find a go-to Thai place that hits the spot in SLO!
