If you are looking for a unique dining and cocktail bar in San Luis Obispo, Nate's On Marsh is a great option for date night, alumni and fam visit dining or girl's night. Set in a renovated home and decorated in horse/western/Ralph Lauren inspired vibes, it has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend the Lemon Malfalde pasta and frozen cocktail.

Obsessed. Ask for a seat by the dining room window. Perf for people watching. I had the sauv blanc and chopped la scala salad for lunch. Perfect pairing and delicious! Two people next to me had birthdays and the presentation given them was so chic! My server Ella was so warm and had great recs.

We enjoyed a terrific dinner at Nate's on Marsh in San Luis Obispo. This was our third time here in the past two years. It was as good as the last two times. Hubby had the Lamb Ragù. He hasn't tried anything else because it was so amazing the first time. I had the Lemon Mafalde with added Prawns. The pasta is house-made and so fresh. Everything was so delicious from the cocktail to the soup to the salad to the entree. Our server, Summer, was delightful and fastidious. We sat at a window table and thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

Veal Osso Buco, this was a special that evening!

Great ambiance with large and small pocketed rooms for all different types of dining experience. Service was just extraordinary and that will happen anywhere in this place, even if you are just in the lounge for a cocktail; again, outstanding service. The food has always been delicious, this visit was no different, only this time I had the opportunity to try one of their specials, Veal Osso Buco and it did not disappoint- JUST DELECTABLE! Start your dinner with a specialty cocktail- I had the VIEUX CARRE (bourbon/cognac hybrid drink that they artfully craft to perfection and serve on a single ice cube- smooth as silk!) This place is a San Luis Obispo institution and you will not want to ever miss a chance to dine here; you will see what I mean!

If you can snag a reservation for Nate's on Marsh.. don't hesitate! Some locals told us they are close to being Michelin star recognized so it's about to be even busier. Nate's is a super unique restaurant inside of a cottage style home. It has a cowboy ranch / Ralph Lauren type style which was so cool. We scheduled an anniversary dinner here and they made us a little welcome card! To start, we had the rosemary focaccia muffins and the caesar salad. Both were absolutely delicious... the caesar is an absolute must... I didn't want it to end. I got the spicy rigatoni vodka which was also really good. It definitely lives up to the "spicy" and is not for spice sensitive folk. My boyfriend who loves spice even said it was a bit much for him. Overall a really really cool restaurant and an absolute must if you're in the area.

Nate's deserves its Michelin rating. It is really fantastic, and by far the best restaurant in SLO. From the service to the food to the atmosphere, it is top notch.

What a wonderful experience on the patio. Audrey went out of her way to accommodate my family with medical concerns. She made sure that we have the exterior patio, and everything here was absolutely perfect. We had a beautiful dinner to celebrate family and Thanksgiving. Thank you all so much. I can't wait to come back.

Quite possibly the best salmon dish I ever had (the top was perfectly crispy, the inside cooked to perfection) a nice light lemony orzo and asparagus; it was such a delight. Love the ambience, easy parking and the service was top notch. Not a single thing needing improvement!

This restaurant is located close to downtown and has parking in the back. There's also paid parking in the street. The establishment is a converted house so there are different dining rooms and a bar. We arrived on a Sunday at 5:45 and the restaurant was already busy. Reservations are recommended if you want to be seated in a short time. I ordered the Caesar salad, which is big enough for two people. The salmon picatta was my entree. The salad had the right amount of dressing and a lot of tasty Parmesan on top. My salmon was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the sides as well. Dinner lasted about 2 hours due to the amount of time it took to receive our food. I also noticed they didn't have bussers so our waiter was busy taking plates, filling waters and giving out to go containers. If you're planning on going somewhere afterwards or don't enjoy a leisurely meal, skip this restaurant.

The service here was quite nice, but there was some faults the steak and the broccoli tasted burnt and over salted. The Bolognese was rich and very good other than that maybe if they try different things. Better food in SLO

If I had one word to describe Nate's, it would be decadent! At least that's the direction I went on my visit there. My boyfriend and I took a trip to Arroyo Grande for a super quick getaway and decided to try Nate's on Marsh based on all the great reviews. We got a reservation for right when it opened at 4:30. The restaurant is a classy, very green, and a fun place to just have drinks or have a meal. The bar area was already pretty lively when we arrived. It was a cold and windy day so I went for lobster bisque to start and my boyfriend got a Caesar salad. The lobster bisque had big chunks of lobster and was very thick and rich. The salad had a very healthy serving of cheese with huge croutons. Both were delightful. For my main dish, I got spicy vodka rigatoni. I love spicy pasta and this dish did not disappoint. Spicy enough with a rich vodka sauce. My bf got the spaghetti pesto which was good but did not have a strong pesto flavor. It was very mild and a bit disappointing for a pesto lover like him. We shared tiramisu to end the meal and it had a lovely orange flavor from the Grand Marnier. Aside from the spaghetti pesto, everything was 10/10, including the service. Well done, Nate's!

It was a good thing as it got pretty crowded. Dillon was our server, nice and friendly. Melissa kept our water glasses filled, removed plates and brought me another glass of Albariño, which was excellent. We were also brought bread, olive oil and balsamic, such a great combination. My husband and I shared a beets salad, wished there were nuts, such as pine or pecan. I had butternut squash ravioli and my husband had shrimp fra diavolo. Both were good. He had leftovers, I did not. We shared Pistachio Gelato, I wished the gelato that you could taste a pistachio flavor. The place was quiet, even though crowded. I had the opportunity to try out La Laconda for a company dinner and ate really good food. The ambiance in the restaurant gave off warmth and peace which was really appreciated after a work day. Our waiter did a great job delivering our drinks, bread w/ olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and remembering our orders. He was consistently with checking in on how we were doing and would consistently clean our table when dishes were done being used. For food we got: - Escargot: 3.5/5 - The escargot was nice but I felt that it lacked a garlic + acidic taste. It was more so buttery. - Pasta Al Pistachio Pesto: 4/5 - The pesto was really good, loved loved the burrata addition. - L'Ossobuco Con Risotto Alla Milanese: 2.5/5 - Got a small bite from my colleague and it was first time trying it and it ended up not my favorite. - Tiramisu: 4/5 - I've tried multiple tiramisus in the area and liked this one! The whipped cream and cocoa powder balance was really nice. The raspberries were sour though. For drinks: - 2023 Nals Margied Sauvignon Blanc: 3.8/5 - 2023 Farina Soave Classico: 4.5/5 - This ended up being my favorite wine for the night as it was really light and airy. Very easy to drink and paired well with my meal!

Flavor was great and there weren't many that were served that weren't open. Prior to that they delivered an olive dip for the bread. The bread was delicious but some good olive oil would have been perfect for what was served. Next up was the pumpkin and ricotta pasta. Flavor was good and probably the best of what we ordered. Last dish was the steak with mushrooms which was a special. Ordered medium rare and has to send it back since it was over cooked. We rarely send stuff back but this was way over medium. Overall this place left me not thrilled with the experience and food. Our busser Hugo was amazing and on point and should have been serving instead of the staff we did see serving. Ohhh what a difference! The nose doesn't lie. Our wonderful server, Carla, brought us a plate of garlic knots, which were so welcome as we were very hungry! We ordered the appetizer meatballs, which were as fluffy as clouds and so flavorful - served in a beautiful fresh marinara we dipped the garlic knots in. We also shared the Barbabietola salad, which I want to recreate at home but I doubt I could make as delicious a dressing. I always love to try gnocchi when I can and I was over the moon with these - lovely and fluffy and drenched in the same wonderful marinara as the meatballs - smooth and rich with just the right amount of acid - with a thick layer of mozzarella, ooey and chewy at the same time. My husband chose the Cavatelli Alla Norcia, which was as delicious as he'd hoped it would be. As hungry as we were, the portions were very generous, and we wanted to try dessert, so we opted to bring our leftovers to eat later, and ordered the tiramisu. We were surprised and delighted when Carla returned with a little cart and assembled our dessert right in front of us! (I won't give details - spoilers!) Everyone who took care of us was friendly and warm. We didn't feel rushed but the service was efficient and we were fed and done in very little time. I wish we lived in the area because I'd love to try everything on the menu - especially the pizza, as a nearby table ordered one and it looked *beautiful*! We will definitely come back when we're passing through SLO again!

Let me be clear -- this wasn't a busy Friday rush. This was a slow, quiet evening where there was absolutely no excuse for how neglected we were. Our water glasses sat empty the entire meal, and not once did anyone seem concerned enough to refill them. We weren't checked on. We weren't acknowledged. We were just... there. Then came the Mac and cheese with braised short ribs -- or more accurately, a plate of fat masquerading as a meal. Not tender. Not rich. Not edible. Just large, rubbery chunks of pure fat with barely any actual meat. I spent more time performing surgical removal trying to find something worth eating than actually enjoying dinner. In the end, most of it sat untouched because there was simply nothing salvageable. What was almost more insulting was that no one noticed. No one asked how the food was. No one questioned why a nearly full plate was being cleared. No apology. No concern. Nothing. It felt like once the food hit the table, the staff mentally clocked out. There was zero pride in the service and zero accountability for the quality of the food being served. San Luis Obispo is full of restaurants that genuinely care about their guests and the experience they provide. Mama's Meatball, unfortunately, felt like a place going through the motions -- collecting money without delivering even the basics. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend anyone waste their time or money finding out the hard way.

However, this restaurant truly exceeded my expectations. They don't attempt to be overly authentic, they are! They serve Italian food at its finest in the SLO area, and I greatly appreciate that. I was first introduced to this place by one of my colleagues in our industry. We decided to hold a speaker program here, and it turned out to be a brilliant choice. My second visit was just as enjoyable, and I would highly recommend the following dishes: - Bruschetta - Mozzarella Caprese - Calamari Fritti (a bit spicy) - Insalata Café Roma - Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa, Salsiccia, e Pecorino (this dish resonates with me since orecchiette originated in the region of my family's heritage) - Osso Buco alla Milanese - Scampi Piccata - Salmone Alla Griglia When it comes to dessert, here's what I would recommend: - Caffe Affogato - Spumoni Ice Cream covered in a chocolate shell You may wonder why I chose these. The Caffe Affogato and spumoni are what we, as true Italians, consider authentic. Tiramisu, while delicious, is a non-traditional dessert that was invented much later. Just "think about it and forget about it" ;-) lol, even though it's really good! Tell em Joey sent you. Ha! Ciao!

April 22, 2026 - Pismo Beach, CA…read more Another year gone by, and another visit to Giuseppe's. Still the same great food, ambiance and service. Once again, we arrived early (5:00 pm), for dinner (they don't take reservations). We were a party of 6, and we were seated right away (as soon as our entire party was there). I was going to order something other than what I had last time (just to try a new menu item), but remembering last year's meal, I ordered the same: half order of both the Ravioli di Zucca and Brown Butter Ravioli. So very good. Restaurant vibe is happy and festive. Our waiter's name was Guido, and he was great. Once again, enjoyed our time.
