This is how they wrap the Banh Mi, not the authentic Banh Mi but not bad for a sandwich

This is my go-to spot for Asian food whenever I'm in SLO. It's super convenient--you can order online and just pick it up later. Since it's not in downtown, parking has never been an issue. I haven't dined in, but the inside looks clean and bright--same goes for the restroom! Honestly, that's part of why I came here after a beach day. I wasn't about to use one of those grimy public restrooms. As for the food--it's decent. Not amazing, but solid. And they pack it really well for takeout. No cheap, flimsy containers here.

Had the chicken pho and the beef pho--both were light, flavorful and yet filling. Food came out quickly. We had our pup so we sat outside on the patio where there is plenty of seating. This is always a consistently great place for good pho.

Everything always goes well from service, to atmosphere and food. Food! Delicious, fresh, hot, outstanding. Menu is authentic. The owner, head chef, is seasoned and professional. He was the executive chef in the White House. San Luis Obispo is very fortunate to have a family restaurant that caters to all diverse tastes in Asian cuisine.

Half eaten shaking beef with garlic rice added

I was really excited to try the Shaking Beef based off of others' reviews. I also ordered the garlic rice. It comes with a generous pint portion of plain rice, so you don't need to order rice. I wish they would let you upgrade to garlic rice for an extra $2-3 or something because I don't need the plain rice. Sadly, I was disappointed. Something was missing. The flavor was actually bland. The presentation was good. There were generous potions of rice, veggies, and I like the amount of sauce, but it didn't really have flavor. I don't understand how you could make a dish that has soy sauce, fish sauce, and oyster sauce and it taste bland? Maybe they are using vegan products? I got more flavors from the onions than the sauce. The meat was tender, but also not flavorful. So sad that I cannot give it a better review. I forgot to snap a photo at the beginning, so this is half eaten with garlic rice added to cover the gap.

    Shaking beef. very delicious.

Foods here are really delicious. Its kind of fast food fusion style. vegetables that go along on dish are so fresh and premium quality. We normally eat Pho and pork chops rice. But today we eat shaking beef and parmesan fries and its shocking delicious

Honestly, the pho here is solid. It's definitely not worth $18 but considering it's the only pho place around for 3 hours any way I accept that price. If you're looking for something to just hit the spot, you'll find it here. But it's nothing impressive

The workers here are always very nice and I like that they have online pick up orders. I always place an order before heading to the store, makes it super easy and fast. It is expensive for Vietnamese food, but it's only option around. The Pho portion amount seems to be decreasing. The broth is on the sweeter side, but it hits the spot. ig: @cravingswithcat

This WAS our Favorite place to eat. We drive 30 min to order the same thing all the time. We thought they were always nice. We went tonight and ordered the shaking beef like we always do with extra sauce and extra meat and we always pay the extra money for the extra. Today when I got home, we went to try to eat it, and lt was completely inedible. The meat was so chewy and was all fat we could not eat it. We always have been under the assumption that it was filet mignon. The website even says that it is filet mignon. As you can see in the picture, it is definitely not filet mignon. When I called and I brought this up to the manager, she said that we always call and complain And that they have our name in the phone as" The people who always complain". I could not believe that she admitted this to me. I just can't even believe how incredibly rude that is and it makes me wonder how many times did we order from them? With them, calling us, the people who always like to complain I have only called one other time in five years of eating there to complain about the exact same problem. I even told them that their website says that the food is supposed to be filet mignon. And they said that they changed it from filet mignon a long time ago because the filet mignon was too expensive. But yet they never changed the price they gave customers cheaper meat!!!! They never told us at that time that they changed the meat from filet mignon. They just gave me a refund that time (a year ago) and apologized. If they change the meat and it wasn't filet mignon anywhere, they could've just told us that and we would've never kept going there. I've always been completely nice to them. I even tip very good to them. So to be treated like this is just completely horrible. I asked them for a refund. They refuse to give me a refund. They told me that I need to drive it there. I told him that I live 30 minutes away and that I promise them that I will never Go back there again. They still refuse. Good thing I paid with My American Express. REFUND PENDING FROM AMEX!! Always pay with your credit card!! FOR THIS EXACT REASON!!

One friend and two Beef Pho :)

Always great food - the beef pho is my fave. The broth is absolutely fire . The service/ staff are nice. Ambiance is chill - music that is good but not too loud indoors and outdoors. Do I end up stopping by here once a week based on all the above? Yes, yes I do.

Shrimp rolls and deep fried rubber bands

I have been trying to find authentic Vietnamese in the San Luis Obispo area for quite some time. Literally - there are non restaurants in town that fit the bill. There's a Ramen house or two, but none have the basic items that you can get at most traditional Vietnamese places, specifically, Imperial rolls, stuffed to the gills with vermicelli and pork and all that yummy stuff, deep-fried with fish sauce to dip it in and lettuce and carrots and cucumbers on the side. I have now tried @Bites for the third and final time, and it was money wasted. I walked in and asked the clerk if by chance they've Added Imperial Rolls to the menu, and she looked at me and said, "What?" I repeated "Imperial Rolls, they are very traditional at most Vietnamese restaurants." She looked at me like a deer in the headlights and said. "I don't know what that is. I then proceeded to order shrimp balls, and shrimp rolls. Then, given that there's zero Customer Service here and you generally have to pick up your own food at the counter, I only added a one dollar tip. $15.52. Within seconds, she said, "Wait, you owe more money, I made a mistake." I said, "how could I possibly owe more - it's two tiny appetizers" and she said, "I accidentally rung up two balls and we're out of shrimp balls." I didn't really understand what was going on, but I was quite pleased I only had tipped one dollar previously as this played out.. The clerk made me come back and pay $2.02 and then flipped me the option to add a tip, which of course I was not going to add a tip at this point. So now for almost $18, the photos here in this post are what I got - really bad. I ended up with deep-fried fish balls that tasted like deep-fried rubber bands. I ate two and almost lost my entire appetite. The shrimp rolls were so over stuffed with lettuce shards, and I really couldn't eat those either. Then I tried to take the lettuce out and just dip the shrimp and rice paper into peanut sauce and the shrimp was so dry and bland that I couldn't eat those either. If you like Pho, and you want that for Vietnamese and that's it, this is your place. Especially if you want Pho and your friend with you wants a cheeseburger because this place actually sells cheeseburgers and fries in addition to the very small very limited Vietnamese menu. (What!?!!) I mean, in addition to getting a cheeseburger at this Vietnamese restaurant, you can get your nails done Nextdoor at @Nails, because, well, they do that, too. Overall, this restaurant is really a let down. SLO desperately needs good Vietnamese with authentic Imperial Rolls and a staff who knows a thing or two about actual Vietnamese food.

We are from the San Francisco Bay Area where we have a lot of Vietnamese restaurants. Visiting granddaughter at SLO and took her out for lunch and she chose At Bites. The staff is friendly and the place was clean and comfortable. A little like a fast food atmosphere; order at the register and then grab a seat and they bring the food to your table. It's sort of a Vietnamese with Asian fusion. We ordered Beef Pho, Deep Fried Chicken and Vietnamese Grilled Pork over rice. The Fried Chicken had 5 pieces of chicken and was delicious. The Vietnamese Grilled Pork was also very good. Beef Pho was average. Food portions were huge, very tasty, but a bit pricey! For the three orders the tab came out to $70! Overall the food and atmosphere is good.

Just moved to the area from LA/OC and so glad there's a pho spot near by. The restaurant is very modern and they even have a kiosk for ordering. I was able to get fatty pho broth and they cooked the bean sprouts and everything. Only wish they had sriracha in a bottle as I went through atleast 10 packets. Owner was super sweet. I'll be back!

The food here was not great, nor really authentic. We come from the Bay Area near San Jose, where there's a ton of good authentic Vietnamese places. When seasoning is on-point, Vietnamese food can be really awesome. This seems like an Americanized version of Vietnamese cuisine and the changes weren't at all for the better. The pho broth was weirdly sweet, lacking the savory and unique seasoning good pho broth has. If this were advertised as a dessert pho, well okay. And there didn't seem to be any difference between the beef and chicken broth, which at good pho places there is. On the bright side, the bahn mi bread was pretty good. But the sandwich also lacked any special flavor and was on the bland side. I ended up putting sriracha and sweet sour sauce on it to give it some flavor. Service was a little slow, but fine overall. The vibe was simple, counter order casual - not really anything to fault there. I would just suggest they give their customers a little credit for being able to accept and appreciate more authentic Vietnamese seasoning. I know SLO is not really as diverse as a lot of places, but people come from all over and I think a Vietnamese place that doesn't dumb down the great flavor profile of Vietnamese cuisine would do a lot better than what's currently being provided.

No complaints at all about the staff or the meal. The problem came afterward. After we finished eating, we decided to walk downtown to meet a friend at a nearby restaurant before heading back. We got back around 12:45 PM and my car was already gone--towed from the restaurant's parking lot. Technically, there is a sign posted in the middle of the parking lot that says no parking between 11 PM and early morning hours (I think 7 or 8 AM). But the sign is not easy to notice unless you walk right up to it. It's not visible from most spots in the lot, especially at night, and it definitely wasn't clear enough to warn customers who just finished dining there. I totally understand if a business needs to manage non-customer parking, but towing paying customers right after they finish eating--especially with barely noticeable signage--felt extremely frustrating and really put a damper on the night. Great restaurant, great staff, really good food... but the towing policy and poor visibility of the sign are something people should be aware of before parking there. $645 to take it out that same night...
