The cashier was very friendly, looked like the owner but I am not sure. There is no ac at all, the 1 star deduction. It was quite hot inside despite a floor fan on the floor. Fish and chips tastes good. We were a party of 4 and ordered the family bucket and 2 clam Chowder. An spin of clam Chowder, lots of potatoes. Fish, calamari and shrimp were fresh. Good local store. Lots of locals coming in. Price was decent.

The owner was nice enough to make it for my partner and I as it was our first time visiting. Beautifully seasoned and shrimps were juicy and delicious!

We stopped here on a road trip and would not return. Expensive and over fried food. The coconut shrimp was around $19 and burned in the oil and undercooked inside. The service was unfriendly and unwelcoming. The restaurant did not look clean either. Unfortunately, there's a lot that needs improvement at this business.

Great food. I went for dinner. The service was impeccable and the hostess is a real cutie. The ambiance of the restaurant is very calming. It is a must try type of restaurant. I got the fish n chips and it was very delicious . This place is a 5 just off of the gorgeous smile on the hostess.

Fish and chips

I was very excited when the reviews said that this was the best place for fish and chips and that it's a must stop for SLO. It was my first time at Lahaina's, but it's always intrigued me as it's in the trader joes parking lot. Upon entering it was very warm in the store which i thought would be fine, but honestly it was slightly unbearable. Besides that, the customer service was nice and quick, no problems there. The positives: tartar sauce by itself was actually pretty good! It's on the higher end of other tartar sauces i've tried. Their fries were absolutely delicious, I love that their house fries are crinkle cut and they were nice and hot and crispy as soon as they came out. The fish however, although very nice and hot, just tasted rubbery. It had a frozen fish stick texture to it that i would simply not expect from a place where fish and chips are rated so highly. It was also sort of, bland? I felt as if the breading had no salt and was in desperate need of some seasoning. I would recommend this place to check it out, but probably would never order the fish and chips from here again.

Until today, it had been a while since I've eaten at Lahaina's. Their club wrap is every bit as good as I remember it. Absolutely delicious.

This has officially become our favorite restaurant in SLO, hands down. We started with a dozen fresh oysters, which were fantastic. I had the lobster roll again along with what I think is the best New England clam chowder I've had. My wife had the rockfish and my daughter had the miso salmon bowl, and everything was beyond incredible. Even the complimentary bread deserves a mention -- served hot with the creamiest, most delicious butter. From the moment we walked in, the young women at the front were incredibly warm, sweet and welcoming. I wish I had gotten their names because they really set the tone for the evening and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. Our server, Jack, was fantastic -- friendly, attentive and made an already wonderful dinner even better. Honestly, the entire staff was terrific from beginning to end. Great seafood, great atmosphere, outstanding service and consistently excellent food. We'll absolutely be back whenever we're in SLO. Our favorite restaurant in town, without question. Five stars again!

After a few moments waiting, everything came out. The ceviche was sooo good. This was my first time trying Peruvian ceviche and I was definitely very pleased! It had a different mixture of textures and flavors that contributed to a harmonious experience. Overall, I had a really good experience at Mistura. I opted to do a trio with the bahn mi, tip o' Argentina, and the garlic fries. The food was good I forgot to take a picture! The tip o' Argentina was solid with the garlic aioli and the chimmichurri perfectly complimenting the steak and the lettuce and tomato adding a little bit of freshness. The buns they use for all of their sliders are soft, slightly sweet, and don't fall apart while you're eating. The Bahn Mi was even better. I love pork but was a little skeptical about pulled pork on a slider riffing on the flavors of a bahn mi. To my surprise and delight, it tasted just like grilled Vietnamese pork, which was perfectly complimented by the fresh and pickled veggies and surprisingly hot jalapeño. Finally, I got the garlic fries which were a massive portion, crisp, and very garlicky. Everything was good and with such a large and customizable menu, I'd definitely return if I was in the area again. I also want to give a shout out to the bartender, Kelsey. I sat at the bar and her service was attentive and she was very knowledgeable about the menu. We got the opportunity to chat for a bit and I loved her vibe, so definitely consider sitting at the bar if you're dining solo or with a friend.

It is a bit off the beaten path I thought, in a seemingly industrial area and parking was hard to find at 12:30 on a Monday. We had to go down the street and around the corner since the lot was full. I got a Gouda Burger, the summer crunch salad, and garlic fries. My wife and kid also had a slider but did Italian Sprouts, mac and cheese with bacon, and sweet potato fries. The slider was good- tasty but a little messy to eat. Both servings of fries were really generous. The salad was a good mix of ingredients. However the mac and brussels sprouts were a bit disappointing. For some there is no such thing as too much bacon but for us both of these dishes definitely had too much bacon- so much that we left a lot of the bacon! And don't get me wrong, I do enjoy my bacon. Overall, a good concept but we'll definitely try some non bacon dishes next time!

There is handicap parking (and other parking) right outside the door in the lot off Nipomo St. We arrived before noon and it was already filling up, we sat at the sushi bar. Ordered a range of things - broiled mackerel, a natto hand roll, their Hamapenõ roll and a vegetable roll. I guess they don't get too many natto orders because a nice woman came over to me to ask me if I knew what natto was, which made me laugh. I wouldn't recommend anyone take a big bite of natto if they aren't familiar (it's unusual to American palates, but I love it). It would be kind of like taking a big bite of blue cheese if you've never had it before. You don't see broiled mackerel in many American restaurants (I don't see many American based Izakayas outside of Honolulu)- it's a strong tasting fish, this mackerel was delicious and well prepared. They also have hamachi and salmon collars, which I'll try on another visit. I like vegetable rolls, but in most places they're not executed very well. This was an outstanding vegetable roll - nice crunch on the vegetables, great assortment. The hamapenõ roll was next level good. Not too spicy, but a fantastic range of flavors and textures - including ponzu jelly on the top, which was savory and sweet simultaneously and a perfect foil for the rest of the roll. There was a lunch menu which would cut down on the cost - and you should also scan the code to see the daily specials. I missed that until I was finished. Unfortunately for me, I did not order my spare stomach from Amazon in time for that meal. It's a three- hour round trip for us, but we will come back because it's that good - and it's a pleasant drive from Santa Barbara. SLO itself is nice too. Service was kind and attentive, the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. A+. FWIW, nobody asked me to write a review, and I did not tell them I was Yelp elite.

Great sense of humor, and great conversation along with superior recommendations. WARNING: The side dishes are massive. Not a bad thing but if you are two people, stick to one side dish and that is the whipped potatoes. It is the signature side dish and after one bit you will know why. We started off with a beet salad that was exquisitely presented. Fresh, crisp and almost a palate cleanser, this is a great way to start your meal. Because we are no longer big eaters, we saw the Wagyu flat iron steak on the menu and if you've never had a flat iron steak, this is definitely the go to. Skip the other cuts and try the flat iron. Thank me later. We had not mentioned how we wanted the flat iron cooked, and I realized as it was coming out that it's done. This may not have been to my liking because flat iron should be cooked a perfect medium rare. This was cooked perfectly and seasoned with the perfect amount of salt finish. You get four sauces to try that are included with your steak but I think sauces distracts from the beef flavor and when paying for this quality of flat iron steak, I want that pure beef flavor in every bite. We had the whipped potatoes which are not the typical whipped potatoes. Trust me. We also had the honey glazed whole fresh carrots that were amazing. The portions were so large we had another complete meal from the side left overs the next day. We stayed at the hotel where the restaurant is located which is fantastic.
