The creme brulee was a delight. I'm not as much of a sweet tooth, so at 30% sweetness, it was just right. Wife got the strawberry uji matcha, but at 30% sweetness, she probably should have bumped it up to the recommended 60%. There was a long line in front, so we're glad we pre-ordered online. Sequel was honored with 1st place as the "Best Boba Shop" according to the 2025 Poly Picks. I initially figured it was because there weren't too many boba shops period around the area but after trying it a few times, I can confirm this wasn't the case. Sequel is located in the SLO Public Market which definitely increases foot traffic. What better to pair with a bowl of poke, chicken sandwich, or pizza than a refreshing cup of boba? Service is definitely friendly, some might even consider it intense. I've been here a few times and both times I was greeted very warmly and to feel free to ask questions. The associates tend to just sit/stand while staring directly at you until you order which is kind of intimidating. (Conversely Sweetie Cup Tea House has questionable service so that's the other extreme.) Milk Tea Creme Brulee: The tea was brewed perfectly and really came through despite all the creaminess of the drink. I had the sweetness reduced and if it wasn't for the tea, I would find it too sweet. The boba is nice and chewy. Mango Coconut Crema: A good choice if you're in the mood for a creamy smoothie vibe and want something uncaffeinated. A very rich drink, I think I'd request to reduce the crema swirl if I was to order this again. Creme Brulee: Both the creme brulee options are great if you want to have a drink that comes with boba. This is a great uncaffeinated alternative of the milk tea creme brulee. To be honest, I do prefer the tea-involved version because this really just tastes like sweet creamy milk depending on who makes the drink. I wish the brown sugar flavor was a bit more pronounced. For a nearly $10 drink, I would hope it had more complexity to it. I'd like to come back and try some more caffeinated drinks earlier in the day but I usually find myself here mid-day or early evening when I don't wish to consume anymore caffeine. read more

Made a pit stop to SLO on a NorCal Roadtrip because I heard good things about their cold brewed tea. It's not bad for the area, as I can taste the tea without the milk or sugar overpowering the drink. Today, I ordered a Jasmine Cream top that is being advertised as a 22oz drink and ordered no ice. I've ordered my drink with no ice before and usually I get a bit more than this (about 70-75% full), but their cups are still not filled almost to the top. This was already questionable but today when I received my drink, literally half of the cup is only filled. When I got my drink, I asked the cashier if this was all the tea that I'm getting. He gave me a beaming smile and said "Yes." I gave him an incredulous look and then immediately left. I understand you guys use a measuring system, but so do other boba shops. I know this personally because I've worked at one. I have never seen a boba place do this before. They will fill your cup almost to the brim. Even corporate Starbucks doesn't do this. I got home and measured the volume. With the cream top, the drink filled up a little over a 350ml measuring cup which is approximately 11.8 fluid oz. 12oz when I'm ordering a 22oz drink and you're charging $6. If 22oz refers to cup size rather than liquid, that should be clearly stated--because what's being served is materially less. read more

Was craving some boba milk tea type drinks and found this place, highly rated on yelp. It's located in a cute marketplace with other restaurants and desserts. The design of the menu and the corner where it is located looks pretty cool and there was a short line, making me think we were in for a really nice treat. We ended up getting a variety of drinks. The mango uji matcha was pretty good. The sweetness of the mango helped to sweeten the whole drink once it was mixed, but then it overpowers the matcha flavor quite a bit. The jasmine milk tea was quite disappointing. It tasted very watered down as if there were not enough jasmine tea leaves steeped in water. Perhaps the type of milk used was not very creamy and thus added to watery taste. My friends also got the house milk tea and same issue with the jasmine tea in terms of tasting watered down. The jasmine guava tea was not to my liking either. The guava juice really overpowered the jasmine tea, so the drink packed a very tangy flavor, and not really in a good way. The menu recommends their standard sweetness of 60%. I typically get 50% sweet is most places but the standard they recommend tasted more on the 25% sweetness level with the exception of the mango uji matcha drink. If you like your beverages more sweet, you may want to go to 100%. The boba was a little hard for all the drinks as well. While the service was nice, I still would not come back. read more

Awh man. It was just OK. The shop is inside SLO Public Market. It's inside through the main entrance on the left. It definitely has a cool food hall vibe when you enter. There was a line of about 10 people. Got to the counter and was greeted. There was no "have you been here before?" or "do you have any questions?" which some places do when they are fairly new. We ordered the Korean Banana Milk and Cold Brew Roasted Oolong Tea. Both were just ok. The Banana Milk was thick at the bottom. They didn't shake it or tell you to shake it before drinking. The flavor was nice and it's exactly as it is - Banana and milk. The Roasted Oolong was the more disappointing drink. It had very light flavor. It wasn't bold or full bodied. It was too diluted compared to other premium Oolong teas we've had. The most disappointing thing though was that they don't tell you that the standard sweet is 60%. I looked back at pictures I took and while the menu says "recommended" it hat implies it's the encouraged choice, not the standard choice. The majority of places use 100% and then put the recommended sweetness for each drink next to that drink. When I left, I tried the drink for the first time and felt it was missing that sweetness. Would I be back? Likely not. I do wish them the greatest success though!! Love that there's a fresh brewed tea place here. read more
