Dropped by SLO for lunch on a road trip. To my surprise, there was a bubble tea spot. Cashier was friendly and asked us what we had planned for the day. The staff highlight Hojicha milk with cream foam top caught my eye and my +1 got the black milk tea. Maybe we messed up the formula since we didn't get boba, but the black mill tea was on the watery side. The hojicha was on the sweeter side and maybe lower sweetness front their standard 60% sweetness would help. Price wise, drinks are on the high end as well. The basic black was $6 something and the hojicha was $7somethjng. read more

Drinks and service are 10/10! Located inside SLO Public Market so there's plenty of parking and seats. Usually there's a line but it moves fast. Whole process usually takes 15 min or less. Order: strawberry hojicha cream top (10/10): this is my favorite thing here! not the biggest fan of matcha so i usually get hojicha and this drink is so good. u can taste the roastiness? of the hojicha and the cream top is creamy. Service: Service is amazing :) The workers are friendly and helpful. I noticed that the cashier would always make small talk with everyone! I also had a big order so Justin helped me bring my drinks to my car which was very considerate. Found out hes the founder! Wish I was closer to SLO so I could come back but enjoyed the 2 times I was here. read more

Greeted by a friendly smile and patience when you walk up is a nice start. Recommended Banana Coffee Top and it was exquisitely creamy and perfectly balanced. Driven back just for this. Another absolutely refreshing drink is the white peach tea. No peach syrup here, but real brewed peach tea. The flavor can't be beat. Easy ordering and ample parking. Don't miss out! read more

Very extensive menu options! The ordering process was very fast regardless of the line they have forming. It was our first time there so we asked for recommendations since they know best. I took the recommendation of coffee cream top matcha and my boyfriend got the mango white peach tea. I noticed that the workers that were preparing the drinks used scales to measure everything out so all the drinks are consistent! Drinks: Coffee Cream Top Matcha (7/10): The coffee cream top was very delicious! I tried a little bit before I mixed it and yum! I was sad when I mixed it in because I couldn't taste it anymore. I did wish the matcha flavor was more prominent after mixing. It tasted like straight milk and brown sugar to me. If you ever had brown sugar milk with boba, it tasted exactly like that. The boba was chewy and soft though! Best boba I've had in SLO. Mango White Peach Tea (4/10): I'm sorry but this one wasn't really good. The syrups overpowered the tea entirely and personally, it was so sweet, it made my throat hurt. read more

I ordered the taro uji matcha and honestly it was okay I just couldn't really taste the taro and felt that the matcha overpowered it. I did try my cousin's drink and the Banana cream top matcha was really good. The staff were really nice and the drinks were made quickly! The place is in a nice area with other foods spots around which is also super convenient. I would definitely come back again, and try something else from the menu. read more

All right, I confess! I'm totally addicted to Sequel Thai Tea, especially with Boba in it! Could anything be better? It's like dessert for breakfast. I love chewing on those sweet tapioca balls that add so much excitement to a cup of tea! Thai tea has always been my favorite, but when you add Boba to it, it's the cherry on top! Or should I say the Boba in the tea! Always fun to come here and get a cup of tea and wander around the San Luis market enjoying the thrill of a dessert tea! read more

Love this charging stop because of all the wide selection of food and drinks. Sequel Tea is located inside the SLO Public Market. We tried the mango crema and it was just delicious. So many other good options and I wish we had more room for more food and drinks. Staff were friendly. read more

The creme brulee was a delight. I'm not as much of a sweet tooth, so at 30% sweetness, it was just right. Wife got the strawberry uji matcha, but at 30% sweetness, she probably should have bumped it up to the recommended 60%. There was a long line in front, so we're glad we pre-ordered online. You can find Sequel Tea inside of the dinning area of the SLO Public Market and on the weekend we visited, there was amble seating. read more

Warm, soft, chewy boba! The perfect texture I'm looking for in boba. The regular milk tea is lacking in flavor and a little too watery for my taste but the hochija has a stronger flavor that pairs well with the boba. The creme brûlée drink is creamy and sweet; it pairs very well with the boba. Good customer service and the ordering line is very convenient to just grab and go. I would recommend this place overall! read more

Made a pit stop to SLO on a NorCal Roadtrip because I heard good things about their cold brewed tea. It's not bad for the area, as I can taste the tea without the milk or sugar overpowering the drink. Customer service was great, they added extra pumps of sugar due to my 60% House Milk Tea being a bit bitter for my taste. Plenty of outdoor seating for people with dogs! read more

Hands down, the BEST boba spot on the Central Coast. I'm from LA/OC and it's been SO awful living here without any good boba. I've been disappointed by every spot from Santa Barbara to SLO. However, I'm so glad that we came across this tea store! The Banana Milk and the Crème Brûlée Tea was so good. (The Banana Milk has real banana blended in it too!) I would even go as far to say that this spot would compete down in OC! We're so excited to come back to try the other flavors! read more

Sequel was honored with 1st place as the "Best Boba Shop" according to the 2025 Poly Picks. I initially figured it was because there weren't too many boba shops period around the area but after trying it a few times, I can confirm this wasn't the case. Sequel is located in the SLO Public Market which definitely increases foot traffic. What better to pair with a bowl of poke, chicken sandwich, or pizza than a refreshing cup of boba? Service is definitely friendly, some might even consider it intense. I've been here a few times and both times I was greeted very warmly and to feel free to ask questions. The associates tend to just sit/stand while staring directly at you until you order which is kind of intimidating. (Conversely Sweetie Cup Tea House has questionable service so that's the other extreme.) Milk Tea Creme Brulee: The tea was brewed perfectly and really came through despite all the creaminess of the drink. I had the sweetness reduced and if it wasn't for the tea, I would find it too sweet. The boba is nice and chewy. Mango Coconut Crema: A good choice if you're in the mood for a creamy smoothie vibe and want something uncaffeinated. A very rich drink, I think I'd request to reduce the crema swirl if I was to order this again. Creme Brulee: Both the creme brulee options are great if you want to have a drink that comes with boba. This is a great uncaffeinated alternative of the milk tea creme brulee. To be honest, I do prefer the tea-involved version because this really just tastes like sweet creamy milk depending on who makes the drink. I wish the brown sugar flavor was a bit more pronounced. For a nearly $10 drink, I would hope it had more complexity to it. I'd like to come back and try some more caffeinated drinks earlier in the day but I usually find myself here mid-day or early evening when I don't wish to consume anymore caffeine. read more

Today, I ordered a Jasmine Cream top that is being advertised as a 22oz drink and ordered no ice. I've ordered my drink with no ice before and usually I get a bit more than this (about 70-75% full), but their cups are still not filled almost to the top. This was already questionable but today when I received my drink, literally half of the cup is only filled. When I got my drink, I asked the cashier if this was all the tea that I'm getting. He gave me a beaming smile and said "Yes." I gave him an incredulous look and then immediately left. I understand you guys use a measuring system, but so do other boba shops. I know this personally because I've worked at one. I have never seen a boba place do this before. They will fill your cup almost to the brim. Even corporate Starbucks doesn't do this. I got home and measured the volume. With the cream top, the drink filled up a little over a 350ml measuring cup which is approximately 11.8 fluid oz. 12oz when I'm ordering a 22oz drink and you're charging $6. If 22oz refers to cup size rather than liquid, that should be clearly stated--because what's being served is materially less. read more

Was craving some boba milk tea type drinks and found this place, highly rated on yelp. It's located in a cute marketplace with other restaurants and desserts. The design of the menu and the corner where it is located looks pretty cool and there was a short line, making me think we were in for a really nice treat. We ended up getting a variety of drinks. The mango uji matcha was pretty good. The sweetness of the mango helped to sweeten the whole drink once it was mixed, but then it overpowers the matcha flavor quite a bit. The jasmine milk tea was quite disappointing. It tasted very watered down as if there were not enough jasmine tea leaves steeped in water. Perhaps the type of milk used was not very creamy and thus added to watery taste. My friends also got the house milk tea and same issue with the jasmine tea in terms of tasting watered down. The jasmine guava tea was not to my liking either. The guava juice really overpowered the jasmine tea, so the drink packed a very tangy flavor, and not really in a good way. The menu recommends their standard sweetness of 60%. I typically get 50% sweet is most places but the standard they recommend tasted more on the 25% sweetness level with the exception of the mango uji matcha drink. If you like your beverages more sweet, you may want to go to 100%. The boba was a little hard for all the drinks as well. While the service was nice, I still would not come back. read more

Awh man. It was just OK. The shop is inside SLO Public Market. It's inside through the main entrance on the left. It definitely has a cool food hall vibe when you enter. There was a line of about 10 people. Got to the counter and was greeted. There was no "have you been here before?" or "do you have any questions?" which some places do when they are fairly new. We ordered the Korean Banana Milk and Cold Brew Roasted Oolong Tea. Both were just ok. The Banana Milk was thick at the bottom. They didn't shake it or tell you to shake it before drinking. The flavor was nice and it's exactly as it is - Banana and milk. The Roasted Oolong was the more disappointing drink. It had very light flavor. It wasn't bold or full bodied. It was too diluted compared to other premium Oolong teas we've had. The most disappointing thing though was that they don't tell you that the standard sweet is 60%. I looked back at pictures I took and while the menu says "recommended" it hat implies it's the encouraged choice, not the standard choice. The majority of places use 100% and then put the recommended sweetness for each drink next to that drink. When I left, I tried the drink for the first time and felt it was missing that sweetness. Would I be back? Likely not. I do wish them the greatest success though!! Love that there's a fresh brewed tea place here. read more

Finally, I don't have to drive 4 hours for amazing boba. Great ingredients, high quality tea and friendly service. What more can you ask for? My wife and I were taking a break and decided to see what's to offer in the SLO Public Market. We heard whispers of a great boba place and decided to investigate, you know, for science :) We ordered a strawberry matcha latte with oat milk and a blueberry matcha latte with oatmilk. Have to say, I don't think I'll miss LA so much now that we found this place. Met Justin briefly and saw firsthand he and his team are serious when it comes to quality. I ordered a Korean banana milk tea with 30% sugar, but it tasted insanely sweet -- like 110% sugar. Even my husband couldn't drink it. I asked for a remake, and the guy added two bananas and what looked like half a container of sugar. The second one was even sweeter. One staff member was super kind and offered to make me a new drink. Great service from him. But the guy who made my drink lied and said he didn't add any sugar, blaming the bananas. That kind of dishonesty was really disappointing. read more

I tend to like just black milk teas with boba. I got the earl grey milk tea with 30% sweetness (I don't like my tea very sweet) and added boba. While the tea had a strong aroma and flavor, the milk tea itself tasted watery, like the added milk watered it down. However, the boba was good and there was a decent amount of it. The drinks are well priced and I'd maybe give the place another try with a more specialty drink. read more

Mango black tea and mango coconut was good. I like how their regular sweet is 60%, I didn't read it the first time but found out after I drank it. However the white peach tasted like cough medicine to me. I could not finish it. I'll have to try their matcha drinks next time I'm in town. read more

To my surprise, coming back to SLO to visit years after living here, a boba shop opened up so close to downtown, and with a cute esthetic. Their boba texture is just perfect!!! Chewy and soft, sweet, but not too sweet. The Korean banana milk was recommended and I got it with light sweetness. I'm so glad I got it. Very refreshing and surprisingly very good! The horchata uji matcha was also really tasty. The texture at first threw me off because of the purées, but once mixed...it was perfect. Love, love, love Sequel Tea! I am so glad they have their own place in SLO Public now. They also expanded their opening times and days compres to before when it was only open during Saturdays! I've tried their Creme Brulée, Banana Milk, Strawberry Matcha, and most recently, my boyfriend surprised me with Hojicha! The Hojicha is so far my favorite but that's because Hojicha is very rare to find in SLO. While that is my favorite, my least so far but still good is the Banana Milk. It lacked flavor and the balance of banana flavor and milk was not equal. Nevertheless, their drinks are by far the best I've tried in SLO! read more

Sequel is a cute boba spot inside the SLO Public Market, and I was excited to check it out. When I arrived, there was a short line, but it moved quickly, which was nice. Their menu is small but intentional, focusing on quality over quantity. I ordered their signature banana milk and house milk tea with boba. The banana milk was a pleasant surprise! The banana purée gave it a nice, natural flavor, and it was well-balanced in sweetness. The house milk tea had a good tea flavor, but I found it a bit lacking in sweetness--I would have preferred a little more balance there. Unfortunately, the boba itself was on the harder side, which took away from the experience. Service was okay. The staff was efficient, but they weren't particularly friendly or welcoming. Overall, Sequel has potential, and I appreciate their thoughtful menu. I'd be open to trying it again, but I'd probably ask about the boba texture next time or adjust the sweetness level if possible. 3.5/5 (rounded up to 4 for the ambiance and banana milk!) read more

Sequel is one of the best boba places I've been to in the central coast! I love the drinks because you can taste the freshness and care put into every drink/recipe! They're original because they cold brew tea which in my opinion makes the tea flavor a little less strong which could be beneficial if you prefer a less strong tea flavor! I also genuinely think the people that work at sequel are so kind! Granted, I am friends with many of them, but everyone I interact with at the sequel counter is so friendly! So be sure to try them at Cal Poly, SLO public market, and Farmers market! read more

I'm a bubble tea snob. If i could give 4.5 stars I would be happy. I had tea here twice in a one week stay. It was great! I had a special at the night market (a crème brûlée style) and one from their store (a mango black tea). The boba is above average. The tea itself was really good. I would return if in the area.
