Allison was our server, and even though both inside and out were full and there was a wait list she took great care of us. She was warm and very attentive. The Chile Verde omelet was delicious, can't recommend highly enough! but all of the small details were clearly attended to as well: coffee was good, the side of fruit had ripe, sweet cantaloupe, strawberries and banana and everyone was friendly. food and service were both fast. Nice Saturday evening with LIVE MUSIC from 5 - 8 pm. Grilled food, tacos, French fries, beers, desserts. Great community-builder. The band played blue grass music which was very enjoyable. Kids had plenty of room to play and two foosball tables are available, too. I ordered the Bratwurst on a pretzel bun with cooked onions and sauerkraut which was very tasty. I also took home three large cookies for $10. An oatmeal/chocolate/coconut flavor, a lemon and white chocolate, and a sugar cookie -- all were made by hand and delicious. 4 stars because the 'garden' was very underwhelming. This word should be removed from the business name because it doesn't describe the cafe. The 'garden' is just standard shrubs and bushes... nothing spectacular in the guest seating areas. Bathrooms (gender neutral) - The one I used had no paper towels, a bad smell (it happens), and didn't seem clean. I later used a different one (no sign on door). It was well stocked and clean. Server was the best part of the experience - Allison!! Thank you for letting me enjoy my book & solitude while I enjoyed a yummy plate of blintzes!! Great customer service & kept my decaf (with real milk) filled. Restaurant had steady flow of diners, but only one server. Tips are better this way, but it meant she had to hustle. Patio has nice umbrellas to filter out the bright sun. It was almost 100F by noon! Plenty of indoor seating, too. The downside to the outdoor seating is the traffic noise. The plants & shrubs worked hard to lessen the sound, but they did a great job of giving the space a more intimate feel. Lots of parking onsite, across the street, and on the street. Looks like there's a garden shop next to the restaurant, but plants looked sparse there too. Our first visit here was not great. The ambiance of Celia's is really nice - I liked the architecture of the building and the decor, and the patio looked really comfortable. Unfortunately there were no patio tables available so we sat at a table just inside. The service was pretty good, with the exception of the busser forgetting our drinks. We had to ask for them again when the food came out. I got the carnitas melt with frings. The onion rings were great, however the fries could have used another minute in the oil. The sandwich was fairly tasty, however it was like the bread was grilled without butter. It just didn't get very toasty, and the bottom became soggy quickly. My wife's southern benedict was good, but the eggs seemed to have been cooked over medium. There wasn't much runny yolk at all. I was picking at my plate, and I picked up what I assumed was a piece of carnitas that had fallen out of my sandwich. Nope, it was tuna. Somehow, tuna ended up on my plate, I'm assuming from a tuna melt that was being prepared nearby. I can't stand tuna so this kind of grossed me out. I will probably give them another shot as it is a nice, relaxing place to go for breakfast, but things could have been a whole lot better. read more

The Chile Verde Omelette my sister ordered was easily the star of the meal 10/10! I instantly regretted not ordering it myself. The meat was incredibly juicy and flavorful, and honestly one of the best omelettes I've tasted. The steak and eggs were unfortunately a miss for me. The steak was a little dry and lacked flavor, but the super crispy potatoes definitely helped make up for it. The Cinnamon French Toast was good, just not as unique or homemade-tasting as I expected, still a solid 8/10. The hot chocolate was another 10/10 So delicious! The cafe itself is such a cute little spot with an outdoorsy, relaxed vibe and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for sitting around, chitchatting, and enjoying a meal. A dollop of garlic herb goat cheese on the top which leveled up the taste factor by ten. The service was great; quick and friendly. We wanted a late breakfast so we went to Celias's Garden Cafe. The food was amazing. I had the Crab Benedict with tomatoes, black coffee and orange juice. It was one of the best Benedict's I have ever had. The hollandaise sauce was perfection. The coffee was on point! And the fresh squeezed orange juice reminded me of my childhood. But the best part of all was our service Allison was amazing. She noticed our table was not being taken care of so she stepped in and made this breakfast an amazing experience. To get more context on this I can say we were first presented with a woman who yelled "How many?" At the top of her lungs. It was aggressive with a very familiar undertone that I am not fond of. I yelled back "four!" Just in case she has a hearing issue I wanted to accommodate her. She then proceeded to ignore us after we were seated. But Allison saved the day. Thank you Allison for being so kind, sincere and loving. For seeing human beings and not stereotypes. We saw this cafe while driving through Los Osos and stopped for a late lunch. Nice patio! We were welcomed and seated outside on their patio. Garden plants in bloom welcomed us wholeheartedly, along with happy birds and bees. Service was friendly and efficient. My husband had a turkey club with an upsell of onion rings. His sandwich was delicious. Fresh crisp lettuce and veggies, thick slabs of bacon, and turkey. The bread was thick and seemed homemade. Onion rings came out nice and hot. My husband loved all of the sauces. I ordered the Brassica Crunch salad. Every ingredient was fresh and well prepared. It was nice to find a salad that was not from the regular salad templates that are on every menu. Loved the crunchies on it, mixed greens, broccoli, and cauliflower. The dollop of chevre in the middle was great for spreading on the cheese toast that accompanied the salad. Every bit about our meal at Celias' Garden Cafe was rewarding. So much heart there. I have eaten at Celia's on and off for several years and the food is comforting and tasty. There is indoor or outdoor seating and the patio is dog friendly. On this recent visit for breakfast, we were seated at a comfy little table by a side door during the breakfast. I'm not certain if this was the reason, but our service was not as attentive as it could have been. Our are server was friendly, but I had to get up and go to the front counter to request items several times. We ordered the waffle and corned beef hash and eggs. Both were very good. The waffle was served with fresh berries and the corned beef hash was their own creation. All in all, Celia's is a cute little spot with good food. It's worth a stop. read more

Celia's has changed ownership. Their staff is always friendly and the pleasant atmosphere remains. The menu has changed and has been diminished a bit. For example, there were seven Benedict selections, and now just four; soda is served by the can, so no refills. The portions seemed to have been downsized as well, as today's our Crab Cake Benedict were smaller than before, along with a minute amount of Hollandaise sauce. Cottage cheese was chosen in lieu of potatoes for fewer carbs. I received an extremely small amount in a small ramekin cup. Although we were seated promptly as usual, it took some time to receive menus and to order. What an improvement! We live in Los Osos and hadn't been going here as it used to be a bastion of mediocrity with silly prices. With the new ownership the food has gotten a much-needed overhaul. The menu still has some of the old favorites (like blintzes). The dishes we ordered today were a huge improvement. The Simple Greens salad $10 (add chicken $4) was a fresh and plentiful mix of salad greens, carrot, cucumber, and ripe grape tomatoes. The chicken was sliced, grilled skinless chicken breast that could use more flavor and a little less grill time. The herb vinaigrette was delicious and very cilantro-forward. Garlicky cheese toast was yummy. The corned beef hash ($18) was the star! A bit non traditional - in an awesome way- it was pulled corned beef that was perfectly seasoned and juicy, mixed with roasted, chopped new potatoes and onions. Eggs over medium were fresh and well cooked. The sourdough English muffin was also a star, made in a local SLO bakery. Great drip coffee ($3.65 with refills) from SLO Roasted in Los Osos. Server service was the basics and our busser was a champion. Garden looked well kept and saw they are doing an arts & music event there on Friday and Saturday evenings. Way to go, new owners! This place is hit or miss depending on what you ordered. We tried it for the first time and everything was great, homemade English muffins and amazing corned beef hash. We went back the very next day and my husband was smart, he got the same thing. I however decided on the pancakes, eggs and country sausage. Big mistake, I have never had pancakes where it was a necessity to use a knife to cut them. They tasted ok but really tough and chewy. The sausage was just one tiny uncooked patty. Sooooooooo go for the corned beef, avoid the pancakes. I'm still confused, like who messes up pancakes? read more

If I can, I go to breakfast at Celia's after I get a hair cut. I love their breakfast, coffee and the best wheat toast. Today, as usual I had a scramble with chicken sausage, mushrooms and snow peas, a great combination. My husband had the chili verde and potatoes. Usually I share the potatoes but I ate everything and was too full. I opted for fruit instead of potatoes. Coffee is great and they have raw sugar, which I prefer. The servers are nice and friendly, some have been there for quite a few years. They had some great looking cookies, maybe next time, I'll get a couple. Sometimes when it's crowded you have to park on the street. They have a nice patio for eating, both front and back as well as inside. Bathrooms are outside and there are two of them. read more

A hearty lunch spot on the patio! My friends favorite dish is the tuna melt, which arrives on delicious fresh marbled rye (with the perfect hint of caraway), caramelized onions, and moist tuna salad. I had a hard time choosing from the extensive menu (sweet or savory?) when I spotted a "lighter fare" menu that offered a half portion of the French toast with two slices of bacon. The "half portion" mean two thick slices cut into four triangles which was plenty of food, along with the protein bacon. Have driven by this restaurant forever, finally decided it was time to try it out. Ordered a cheeseburger and subbed romaine instead of spring mix. Would have ordered a side salad but they only had spring mix option. Came with fries. Sodas only came in cans, so opted for water to drink. Burger nice and medium rare, yummy. Fries, however, were too seasoned and peppery and soft. The water was in a tiny glass and they were so slow to refill. I finally had to get up and fill my own water!! They only gave me one napkin until I took a couple more on my own. I noticed that they hadn't tidied up the creamer bowl, still trash from previous guest. I chose to sit on the LOVR garden because it was too sunny in the back garden. Lovely setting, though. The server never came back until she gave me the bill. Great little place! We stopped in for lunch and were immediately greeted and told we could sit anywhere. We chose the outside garden and very quickly had iced teas and menus in hand. Breakfast options look amazing, but the tuna melt and carnitas melt caught our eyes. I opted for a side salad and herb vinaigrette dressing with my tuna melt. The whole wheat bread was perfectly toasted, nice and thick sliced. The salad took up a full half of the plate and the dressing was a nice touch of herbs. Oh! They add snow peas to the salad! Such a nice taste surprise. The carnitas melt had nice big pieces of meat and avocado slices. Again, on thick cut bread perfectly toasted. The fries are tasty and plentiful, taking up half the plate. The venue has a remodeled barn style with red wood making the structure stand out on a bustling main road. It was fairly busy in the café with glorious weather the summer day we dined there and thus the patio was full and we were seated inside. The menu had typical breakfast fan fare and reads more like an upscale diner. I ordered a mimosa with one of their Benedict's and my comrade got the pancakes. . The plates were rich and the portions large enough for two sittings. Hands-down, some of the best café/diner food that I've had the pleasure to eat. I don't usually go out of my way to write reviews, but this was genuinely the worst service I've ever experienced. To start, my spanish speaking friend overheard a busboy calling us ugly and saying insults about us. On top of that, it took around an hour and fifteen minutes for our food to arrive. Also my food specifically came out 10 minutes later than everyone else and they basically finished their food before mine came out. Our server rarely checked on us, and when we asked the busgirl about the delay, she responded rudely, said she would check, and then never followed up. We watched her not even attempt to do so. When the food finally came, my friend found huge eggshell chunks in her meal. While they did comp her dish, the only additional gesture was removing our coffees from the bill, which didn't feel like enough. read more

We have been coming to Celia's for many years. Sad to say, the quality has been going downhill since Celia sold. Breakfast today: the service was VERY SLOW! Past service has always been good. The quality of the food has been deteriorating, and today, breakfast was cold. We will give them a chance to improve, but we may need to find a new breakfast spot. read more

First of all, I admit I didn't get the waitperson's names. Two stars because the young man who greeted us was very attentive and polite. Got us menus and OJ right away and tried to help us when the order was wrong. Otherwise, we requested well done on potatoes and each had Benedicts. When we got them, the potatoes were pale and cold and the eggs were overcooked. We asked for the order to be fixed and the waitress was quick to blame the cook. She brought us the replacements and my husband's was fine, they were both hot, but my egg was raw inside! No more complaints but done eating there. Easy parking, quick seating, instant drink order, quick order taken by pleasant and efficient staff, and quick kitchen turned out food that was tasty, fresh, prepared as asked. This is classic American breakfast well executed. But what's even more exciting is what they have planned for the surrounding, formerly unused space. Outdoor picnic style seating, day time hang out spaces, and hopefully drinks, live music, and evening activities soon. This place is cleaned up, looking sharp, and investing in tasteful changes, while maintaining the tasty menu and professional service it already had going for it.
