A bit dingy, the Harbor Hut is located on the water of Morro Bay and has a great view of the water and if you're lucky, otters! Our waitress was great and made sure to check up on us and made sure we felt welcome. The food was pretty typical Central Coast fare. My sister got the clam chowder and bread bowl and loved it! My other sister got the fish platter and I got the prawns. Over all the food was good but I'd like to point out that there is a difference between fried and greasy. The double fried French fries were crispy and great taste, the battered fish was just greasy. Also, if you're like me and popped in because it says "steak" on the sign please be aware that steak is only on the dinner menu.

Probably the best restaurant in town. Hands down did not disappoint. Dylan was an absolute hospitality legend. Our food was delicious and the atmosphere was comforting. Recommend this place 10/10! Hope to come back again soon!

Side of shrimp? Or is this Shrimp Scampi??

Great service, nice atmosphere, but the food needs work. 1) Shrimp scampi: rating 1/10. Disappointingly small 5 shrimp on a plate. The sides took up most of the plate. So essentially I paid for a $32 plate of veggies and fried potato cake with a side of shrimp. See photo of my plate of sides. 2) Pacific Red Snapper (Cajun spice), veggies and mash potatoes. $32 Rating 7/10. 3) Clam Chowder: $12 bowl. Rating 2/10. Oddly off tasting. Not sure how you get that wrong around here. 4) Fish & Chips: Rating 8/10. Hard to get that wrong. It was pretty good. $25

The service was excellent. During our seating had a number of people check in with us to see if they could do anything else. Hubby had the fried seafood platter which he loved. I had clam chowder and crab cakes. The clam chowder wasn't as hot as I would have liked - but I was hungry and didn't want to send it back. The crab cakes were crispy, light and really tasty! Had a nice crunch from all the panko.

We really enjoyed our lunch, my favorite part was the spicy jalapeño , filled w cream cheese, slice of ahi tuna? It's been a minute since we were last here. I also had the crab sandwich on croissant roll, it was filled with cheese and shrimp Simple's yet delicious. Nice place w views of the Rock, our server Rafa was very attentive. We are creatures of habit but I think I'd want to try something else soon. Love food

This was a place to walk up to order and they give you a pager. The fish and chips were good. The malt vinegar and salt came in small packets. That's not my favorite. The fries were crisp. They had free refills on drinks. We ate on the patio overlooking the harbor. This is a nice place for tourists.

Harbor Hut is a favorite when we're in Morro Bay; this is not our first time. The fried options are very good. The salmon is a 4 out of five, but skip the pilaf for another choice. The clam chowder is also a favorite. There are very many things I would avoid, but the bruschetta is one of them. I mean, why would we expect good bruschetta at a seafood place? Soggy bread, little to no olive oil, just not good bruschetta. I'll rave about the oysters though. If you live then on the half shell they are big, tasty, a not overly priced. The view is amazing!

It took over an hour to receive food that was bland & over cooked. The manager was extremely rude and very judgemental.

Mostly we were excited about the mid 90's, early 2000's music playlist that included Biggie; Bone, Thugs, & Harmony; Craig Mack; and some classic R&B joints I'm failing to remember right now. All this while we enjoyed two very cold beers - Michelob ultra for the babe and a Big Sur Double IPA on tap at 9.6 ABV for me. All this, paired with the wings, which were outstanding BTW, and it made for a great stop. Other things to know. -Order of 12 wings can be split into two flavors (choice of buffalo, bbq, or mild). We went with buffalo and bbq extra crispy. -The buffalo have an added pepper seasoning that we loved -Bathrooms are downstairs (there's also an elevator) -2 of the 3 TV's at the bar were not working (biggest critique) -There is outside seating with view of the rock and a beautiful sunset if you time it right (we did, but it was a bit hazy due to the fog or overcast or whatever you call it) -Also, we didn't try any other food so we can't vouch for much else but everything people had looked good and we didn't hear any complaints. TRY IT OR DIET FINAL WORD Definitely try it. Matter of fact, we're going to take our own advice and try it again later today!

None of the seagulls were aggressive, but I felt like I had to constantly keep an eye out.

When we entered the dog-friendly patio with our little Goldendoodle, Bailey, a large dog seated at the table closest to the only patio entrance lunged toward her and bared its teeth. Since it was the only way in and out, I let the staff know I was concerned. They immediately spoke with the owners, who moved their dogs farther under the table, and after our meal, the owner's father went above and beyond by opening the rope barriers so we could exit another way and avoid walking past them again. Both the father and son were incredibly kind, understanding, and accommodating, which we really appreciated. Once we were settled, we were able to enjoy the beautiful patio. It's a quaint waterfront spot with gorgeous views, a relaxing atmosphere, and the perfect setting to enjoy fresh seafood. Bailey was promptly brought a complimentary bowl of water, and we loved seeing so many other well-behaved dogs enjoying the patio. It's easy to see why this restaurant has such a great reputation for being dog friendly. We ordered the King Salmon Quesadilla special, and it was absolutely delicious. It was packed with generous portions of fresh salmon, plenty of melted cheese, and vegetables, and it was more than enough for my mom and me to share. My brother also really enjoyed the tri-tip sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and was served hot. While we wish the aggressive dogs had been seated somewhere other than the only entrance to the patio, that wasn't the restaurant's fault, and they handled the situation as well as they could. Between the excellent food, beautiful waterfront setting, dog-friendly atmosphere, and genuinely caring owners, we had a great overall experience and would happily return.

My partner got the bread bowl clam chowder and others in my party got the halibut fish tacos. The chicken strips were just basic regular chicken strips, but not bad. Those that had the clam chowder said it was "A+" and some said they really liked the large clam chunks in the chowder. The fish tacos had large pieces of fish and everyone was very happy with their tacos, some saying it was "to die for." We will definitely be back! The patio seating was lovely and they had live music that was such a nice touch. One of the employees was actively going around and cleaning tables and offering bowls of water to the dogs! She was super nice. Many of the patio tables also have small leashes so you could put your dog on that and not have the dog get all wrapped up in their regular leash. Very dog friendly! But oh oh... the universe shifted when I last visited a few weeks ago. As they handed me my three piece fish n chips order, I looked at the fish and a sad sigh of disappointment hit. The size of the fish was minuscule. Not quite worth the price tag. It didn't get better from there. Hoping that it would taste good. Nope. The crust was hard and over fried. The filet was dry. Seagulls are always begging for food. Lots of memories here, my nephew eating his first pickle, some lady trying to pick up my too-friendly father, my mother commenting that my sister was a "pretty girl in a sea-green sweater"!! Sorry, truly lots of family memories here. That said, I was really disappointed the last time I came here. The so-called handicapped spot is right outside so that was good. The price is really high, I believe they charged a credit card fee, too. The guy at the window couldn't (or wouldn't) hear me, the cooks ended up doing all the work answering my quesitons!! I wish I could have tipped only them. I ordered a cheeseburger with no pickles, no onions, no tomatoes, no thousand, sub mayo and ketchup. He said "plain", I said "with lettuce". The cooks were the ones that heard my order and got it correct in spite of the silly guy at the order window!! I asked about the salad and he said that spring mix was iceberg!! Um, no - very different. Ended up being spring mix so no salad for me. I did order some chicken strips & fries with ranch. Their drinks were only offered in a small cup and I was getting to-go so I stopped by Dollar Tree to get sodas. The wait was longer than expected even though no one else was in line. There is a station outside for condiments. They use one of those electronic alert buzzers to tell you when your order is ready. The fries were good, chicken had the right dipped outside (instead of breaded) but inside was sort of like fake chicken and not enough Ranch dip was included. The burger was dry and the lettuce had cooked!! I will, of course, come here with my family again but after this experience I am not sure what I will order!! Too bad, because this is our go-to spot to meetup.
