Cheese Bread
Chipper C.

Don't know why Yelp isn't showing me my previous reviews, just prompting me to update. Weird. Anyway, sorry if there is duplication here. I have dined at Distasio's off and on for many years starting when they were down on the Embarcadero, then up on the hill and now up on the Boulevard. I used to get the Chicken Fettucine Alfredo and wasn't impressed by the sauce. Later I started ordering the Tortellini Carbonara, with a cream sauce and little bits of ham and peas. This is my go-to dish now. I also like their mozzarella sticks. I have found their bread options hit and miss, although this last batch of cheese bread was great!! I often order from Door Dash but the last time I went in I couldn't find my tortellini dish. The gal at the restaurant told me it is still there, I will have to look again. Most recently I took some family members to dinner here and they enjoyed their dishes. So, my rating is back up to 4 stars. I will most likely return here, wish they had Gnocchi.

This rating is between a 3 and 4. Ken, the owner is part of the family that owns Rosa's etc. I love Rosa's, the ambiance, food, prices, here is quite different and quiet. I made a reservation and we were seated promptly in a booth. We were given menus, water and bread. Our server was Emily, she answered all our questions and was quite nice. I tried a white wine I didn't care for, so asked for a certain red, they were out of it. Asked for another one, Merlot also out. So picked a Robert Mondavi Merlot and said ok, we would like a bottle. Didn't even look at the bottle at first, then noticed it was a Cab. It was good, but we thought we were drinking a Merlot?? She ended up taking it off the bill but we did not feel comfortable with that so she put it back on. My husband and I both had the nights special, penne, vodka sauce and chicken, it was ok. We both got soup or salad with the dinner picked the salad. Quite good, with cute carrot flower, cucumber etc. Ken the owner was very friendly, talking to us and others. A lot of locals come here, as prices are very reasonable. We will go back, my husband wants to try the pizza. I saw quite a few people picking up to go orders.

Lasagna with meatballs and their secret family sauce

The food and service was great. Great tasting Italian food and prices reasonable for dinner. This is a family owned restaurant and their sauce was amazing. The owner even came by to see how everything was going. I would recommend them as a great tasting quality authentic Italian dinner. We are definitely going to visit them again when we ate in the area

I'll be honest, the name threw me for a loop as I was expecting this place to be by the water - it certainly was not but none the less, it was a cute place, romantic, and pretty quiet but I can also see this place being the hub for family birthdays and friend get togethers as well. There was ample seating inside and outside. We had come on a Saturday night in January and we were seated right away. I noticed there were a few tables with 'reserved' signs on them so during busier months being able to call ahead and have your table reserved is always a plus. All the employees we had the privilege of meeting were lovely and the food was pretty good. My fiancé and I enjoyed both of our pasta dishes, although it was your standard Italian food, a step up from Olive Garden but nothing too spectacular. The bruschetta on the other hand was a must, so delicious! The bread was thick and the mixture was plentiful but you better eat it fast because it did become soggy pretty quickly. We ended our night with a cannoli and again, just your standard cannoli. All in all, I think eating here once was enough but if I'm ever in the area and craving some bruschetta, I know where to go.

Great old school Italian restaurant. Went here on a Friday night. Not too busy but had reservations. I had the half and half spaghetti and meat raviolis. My wife had lasagna. Both very good. Came with warm bread. We brought a bottle of wine and paid reasonable corkage of $8. Great meal and nice decor

Warm, welcoming, and utterly delicious. The manicotti was divine, the service felt like family, and the spumoni ice cream was the perfect ending. A five-star experience from start to finish.

Food was amazing and not over priced, server and service was awesome, this place is a gem! I highly recommend if you're in the Morro Bay area!

Such a nice restaurant!

Brociole with Penne
Ralph M.

We were in SLO and driving back to Cambria and decided to have an early dinner In Morro Bay. I was craving Italian and remembered seeing the sign for Distasio's so we headed there. We weren't sure what we would find or how the meal would be. Turns out we had a delicious meal, good service and a nice pleasant dinner. My wife had the chicken marsala and it was very good. She was satisfied and would order it again. I ordered the brociole which is something you typically wouldn't find on an Italian restaurant menu. I had it years ago when a grandmother of a friend made it for a family gathering. This brociole was pretty close to that one from the past. It's a thin piece of pounded beef sirloin and rolled with spices and breadcrumbs, tied together and cooked in a tomato based sauce. The hours of simmering creates a decadent sauce and the meat is extra tender. Wow!!! We had some Chianti and dessert and had a great time. We will definitely be back. It wasn't busy because we were there just after they opened but by the time we left, it was getting busy. I can't wait to go back for more of their simple but delicious food.

Spumoni ice cream cake

I have lived in Morro Bay for 15 years and had never trues this restaurant. This year I decided to try it for my birthday. The food was sooooo delicious and the spumoni ice cream "cake" is a must!

It's a nice restaurant with a lot of seating. The food had good flavor. I had a rib eye and I really liked it. Cooked well and for a decent price. Our server was very friendly and helpful. She had great suggestions to help with our decisions.

Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and broccoli
Jon M.

Came to Morro Bay just for a day and wanted some dinner before we head back home. I looked up on google for some pasta and this was the first place I looked. Had some good reviews so wanted to check it out. The service was wait to be seated it wasn't long because it wasn't busy yet. The service was quick and they give you some bread when you sit down. The garlic cheese bread was pretty good and I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The shrimp was good size wasn't those small shrimp that I seen some use these are a good decent size. But overall experience it was a nice restaurant what made it cozy was the fireplace in the middle.

Live music compliments from a man with his guitar on a sunny sunsetting Friday afternoon and since they are dockside, you get to see the fishermen at work close by and it really provides the environment of a seaside town without it being overpriced and pretentious. We originally ordered a set of 4 grilled oysters, clam chowder, and as recommended by the cashier, a couple of the smoked shrimp tacos. The oysters were grilled to perfection with butter and garlic. Not dry at all and still juicy. The oysters were well shucked (no pieces of the shell ended up on the oyster) and it was already detached for easy eating. The smoked shrimp tacos were a great recommendation. I think the seasoning wasn't too complicated; salt, pepper, and a paprika to really let the shrimp do most of the talking. As for the clam chowder, I think it was okay. Came there only for the oysters anyways. As mentioned, we initially got a set of 4 grilled oysters but they were so good that we ended up coming back 30 minutes later to get 6 more after getting our last few pictures of the sunset next to Morro Rock. As for service, this is a take-out only joint, so besides the cashier taking your order, the bussers making sure the outside tables are clean to keep the seabirds away, and you picking up your own order, there is nothing more than that. Will be dreaming about those grilled oysters until we come back.

I appreciate that it was not too salty, something that tends to be for a lot of places that serves clam chowder. There was plenty of clams, as you would expect but I come to find out later on my trip to a fish house in Monterey that this isn't always the case. We will come back to Bayside Cafe just for this.
