Not being Hispanic, I always take their word for their authenticity. Martin's Restaurant has some of the finest Mexican food I have consumed. It seems that Martin's also has an ace. In addition to its extensive Mexican selections, it also has an extensive Italian cuisine. We chose to choose our dinner from the Mexican choices and did not regret our decisions. Oh my goodness! Martin's is across the street from the hotel. We watched the Sheriff pull in for lunch, so we felt it would be perfect for dinner - we were right! We ordered Penne with Meatballs, and Chicken Parm. Both meals were epic! Lots of food. Service was perfect! FIFA was on the TV's - atmosphere was very light and friendly. Price was very reasonable! Stopped I for lunch. Had the wet chicken burrito. Plenty of food and decent flavor. Waitress was kind and attentive. Brought plenty of cold water. No air conditioning that day, but she did offer us plastic menus to fan ourselves with. Tortillas looked homemade. read more

We visit Cayucos about twice a month and have been wanting to try Martins but it never seems to work out. The lines are always long and here's why...the food is delicious. We came for an early dinner since we're here for the weekend festivities starting with the Tree Lighting. Quaint multi cultural menu...we chose Mexican. We got there shortly after 4 and they honored the lunch pricing which was very nice. Lunch portions are more my size, especially because I love Fresh chips & Salsa and can be filling. Our waiter was professional, efficient and friendly. We were served, ate and out in time to make it to the Tree Lighting at 5. What a perfect day in beautiful downtown Cayucos!! Don't ask these idiots for a combination pizza or you will end up with an all topping pizza that includes pineapple and tomato with no sausage. This could be the worst looking pizza I have ever seen. We typically enjoy Martin's but this is a particularly bad experience. read more

There were great reviews here on Yelp so I was excited to pickup our pizza. So disappointed. The crust is bland and soggy.

Martin's has a cozy atmosphere and the wait staff are friendly. Combining multiple cuisines into one restaurant is no easy task and I think the quantity/variety of food type is outweighing the quality of it. We ordered from the Italian menu. The pasta and meat were satisfying after driving hours and hours to Cayucos with no food. But I can't deny that overall the food is mid. I had a meat calzone. They prepare it after one orders. The dough was really good. I enjoyed my first experience. Everyone was happy with their food. The calzone's took longer to be ready than the Mexican food that was ordered, so be realistic that some things take longer to prepare than others. read more

A place that has Mexican food AND Italian. It may seem kind of weird. It they do both things well. It's been around forever for a reason. This evening 3 of us went to Martins which was Wonderful, from the time we were seated, our waiter Ricardo was couldn't have been any better!! All 3 of us had food that was just Delicious!! We had Salsa, guacamole & chips to start. We licked the bowls clean!! Soo so good. I had meat calzone, you definitely can't go wrong there. It will easily feed 2 people for under 20$. Visiting beautiful Cayucos, CA for a few days and we came across this beautiful family owned and operated restaurant. We walked in, got greeted and seated right away. The food was so delicious and the service was great! We were celebrating our sons 13th birthday and they went a little their way to provide him a slice of cake and even sang happy birthday to him with the rest of the kitchen crew! We tried the Mexican breakfast during Covid and thought that it was good. We went back this time during a vacation thinking it would be good and we could choose various options. I asked the Hispanic server which was better, Mexican or Italian. She said Italian. I ignored her and ordered a combo plate. It was good, but not great. The rest of the family listened to her and everything they ordered they loved. My wife thought that the linguini and clams was some of the best she had ever had while my son loved his meat lasagna (and ordered it two nights in a row). We liked it so much that we returned then next night where I got chicken parmigiana. The portion sizes are huge so we took some home to Clovis and heated it up the next night. Guess that means that technically we ate there three nights in a row. Go try the Italian!!! read more

I would call Martin's "okay" or "solid". Unlike the recommendations of some other reviewers, I'd say Mexican food is better for dinner than Italian food. For Italian, we had chicken parm and pepperoni pizza. The sauce is what moved this from amazing potential to just a-okay. Somewhat bland -- great consistency but not great flavor. With that, the pizza was nothing special but it also wasn't terrible. Fine crust. The kids liked it. The chicken parm was a really good piece of chicken and well prepared, but the sauce brought it down a notch. The Mexican food was slightly better but also just okay. We had two types of enchiladas and then one person got a few a la cart items. The salad were excellent but nothing really stood out or screamed to us that we had to come back again / for more. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's worth visiting. Everyone is treated like a guest in the owners home. The lasagna I had was classic comfort food. Comes with pizza-bread. I got the two taco combo plate with one beef and one chicken crunchy taco, rice and pinto beans. I thought it was pretty good, the chicken imo was better than the beef taco. 4/5 2. My girlfriend got a taco and enchilada combo plate, with one beef taco and a cheese enchilada, with rice and black beans. She liked the enchilada more than the taco. 4/5 3. Her son got the tamales combo plate, with two beef tamales, with rice and pinto beans. It came as well with tortilla soup. This meal was very filling. He had leftovers. 4/5 4. We were in town with our dogs and were pleasantly surprised to see there is a back patio! We ordered the Chicken Parmesan with the penne pasta! It was amazing! My food ended up as a mess of all the ingredients. It was hard to tell what was what, they didn't even label it to make it easy. Did not provide utensils, I guess I should have asked but it would have been nice if they had at least offered or asked when I went to pick up the food. We were on our way home and our friends wanted to take us to breakfast at Martin's. They recommended the chorizo so I ordered an egg white omelette with chorizo. It melted in my mouth! We had takeout dinners 2 nights in a row. The first night we ordered the cheese ravioli with Pesto, and some items from their Mexican food menu. All items were delicious, so we decided to order from their Italian menu the next night. The chicken Marsala was inedible - the chicken was soooo tough and the flavor was really off. The calzone was a mess - under baked dough and the proportions of meat, cheese and sauce was off. Took 2 bites and that was all I could handle. The he side salad was good but the bread was rock hard. I'd recommend the Mexican food but definitely not the Italian food. Also, service the first night was great - very friendly and helpful. Second night not so much. We came here for dinner on a Tuesday evening about 5:45 PM. There were four of us in our group. We were greeted by a very friendly server named Gabby. She let us know there was a reason for her name:-) She was a very friendly and sweet lady, and we enjoyed chitchatting with her as we ordered our drinks and food. They have Dos Equis Amber beer, which one of the people in our group was ecstatic about. Their menu has a lot to offer, including Mexican Food, Italian food, American food, and breakfast, lunch and dinner. We settled on the Mexican food and were very glad we did. The chips and salsa, the crispy shredded beef tacos, rice, and beans, cheese enchiladas, and taco salad were all great. Everybody raved about their food. We visited Martin's for the first time earlier this week. We had to wait for a table to seat a large party, which was fine. The owners were very nice keeping us updated, etc. we all ordered something different & were happy with our meals.
