Came by for the 4th of July morning, they were open. Nice little spot with good seating. Restrooms and the dining area were clean. They have a self serve salsa bar. I ordered the carne asada burrito and the wife ordered the huevos rancheros. The burrito did not have sufficient asada meat, more rice than anything. My wife's huevos rancheros were good. I would come again and try something different. The service was fast.

Succulent & most delicious street tacos with crispy edges & cooked to perfection. Truly Tacos El Viejon has some of the best street tacos outside of Los Angeles. Go on Tuesday for 2 -fer- 1 pastor tacos (pork) and Wednesdays have same special for pollo tacos (chicken).... such a great deal! Garnish with a full array of condiments from their salsa bar. Note of caution: the green avocado looking salsa is actually their spiciest one! Salsa Fresca is super tasty and not too spicy. Owners are super sweet and always aim to please. Feel good to support a small business that just so happens to have the very best tacos in SLO County!!

Al pastor tacos 3.50 each (except Tuesdays)

Been trying to find a good taco Tuesday since leaving LA. This place satisfies my street taco cravings. They have 2 for 1 pastor tacos on Tuesday. Pozole special on the weekend and the little bar with salsa, limes, and all the onion and cilantro you could want. Their michelada slaps too!

    This is the spot!!!

Ok first of all we have never been in morro bay till this weekend. We were with our grand daughter she is a cheerleader at Cal Poly and got to spend time with her!! On our way back I was looking for menudo and posole and there was a couple of choices out here!!! I really love the little places with good food!!! We can to this place and my wife was talking to I'm assuming was the owner in Spanish!! He was very nice!!!! She ordered the menudo and I ordered posole!!! When it comes to these I am very picky!!! So Saying this I have to say omg!!!this was one of the best tasting of both I have ever had!!! Talking to an older lady that was here with her husband she said she comes here a lot and the food is so good and authentic Mexican food!!! and I have to agree just saying this that this will be the first time I have given five stars for a place that I've only been to one time! That's how good it was! We will definitely be back in this area again to try other options, which I am sure will be just as good. Ambience was nice. Plenty of seating if you are in this area and are looking for Mexican food, don't miss out on this place. You will regret not coming here. It was very good. I will put up some pictures so you can see what we had but check it out.

I ordered the asada nachos for delivery. It was delivered in a short amount of time. Delivered to where I instructed by a very pleasant DoorDasher. Food was still 'HOT' and tasty. Made me wish I had ordered a beer as well. The asada was fresh, moist, and added wonderful flavor to the dish. Lots of melted cheese. Tortilla chips held up well under all the topping goodness. I would have liked to see diced tomatoes but not complaining. It was a great experience for the quality of the food, service, and flavor. Well done Tacos El Viejon

I gave this eatery 4 stars mostly because it was open on the 4th of July at dinner, and it seems pretty authentic to places I've eaten in Mexican border towns. It is very small, the menus are hand written on the wall, and the patrons were primarily hispanic or at least Spanish speaking. This is one of 4 eateries serving Mexican fare and 2 were closed this evening. The other was overflowing with customers beyond their capacity. So we walked down to this place and ordered 3 combo enchiladas plates and one pork tamale. Drinks are in cans from a cooler. The meals were served on actual plates at the table but the utensils are very cheap toss away plastic. The portions were very generous and arrived quickly. Two of us liked the enchiladas and one not so much. I was always told you can judge a cook by the rice and beans. Neither of these impressed me here, but in all fairness, given the later hour on a holiday they were probably cooked much earlier in the day since they open at 8 am 7 days a week. We ate fairly quickly and weren't sure if we needed to bus our table so we left and felt quilty about it. This is a very small business and seems to have a loyal customer base of locals. I probably won't choose to eat here again, bur would possibly get take out.

If you want authentic Mexican, like your mom cooks. THIS IS THE PLACE!! My family and I got the menudo and birria, and tacos.

One man at the cash register taking orders. You could read the menu behind him posted on the wall. Very basic options and the interior seating was at 1950s style linoleum kitchen tables and chairs. Probably bought at a flea market. We were crushed. I had a combo platter of one crispy carnitas taco at $23. Ground beef. Very basic and lacked flavor. Outrageous for over $20. Wife had two enchiladas a la carte, cheese and green at $13. Mush. At least we have our memories and hope that someone will come along to resurrect it into at least something close to what was.

Mostly we were excited about the mid 90's, early 2000's music playlist that included Biggie; Bone, Thugs, & Harmony; Craig Mack; and some classic R&B joints I'm failing to remember right now. All this while we enjoyed two very cold beers - Michelob ultra for the babe and a Big Sur Double IPA on tap at 9.6 ABV for me. All this, paired with the wings, which were outstanding BTW, and it made for a great stop. Other things to know. -Order of 12 wings can be split into two flavors (choice of buffalo, bbq, or mild). We went with buffalo and bbq extra crispy. -The buffalo have an added pepper seasoning that we loved -Bathrooms are downstairs (there's also an elevator) -2 of the 3 TV's at the bar were not working (biggest critique) -There is outside seating with view of the rock and a beautiful sunset if you time it right (we did, but it was a bit hazy due to the fog or overcast or whatever you call it) -Also, we didn't try any other food so we can't vouch for much else but everything people had looked good and we didn't hear any complaints. TRY IT OR DIET FINAL WORD Definitely try it. Matter of fact, we're going to take our own advice and try it again later today!

Here's what we noticed: - The inside is pretty nice, lighter inside than you would expect from looking at it on the outside because of the skylights. The paint inside is a little tired and there's some cobwebs, etc. around but it still had a nice atmosphere. The chairs and tables are a bit tired, but ok. - The menu is pretty broad, and the prices seemed pretty reasonable. - My wife and I decided to split two different meals, the Al Pastor Burrito (which was served with a small salad) and the combo plate of Sofa and Chili Relleno. The portions on both dishes were really good, such that we took half the burrito home for later.
