Love the fall decor!

My husband and I came here while celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. What a beautiful winery with an amazing oceanfront view and very delicious wines! I loved how right away they pour you a glass of wine to take to your table. There is also a cute store/deli that you can order lunch and bring to your table! Our sommelier, Ann, was super friendly and knowledgeable. We decided to join the membership! We love that they have two locations: this beautiful one and one closer to us in Paso!

We came here to sit outside with the pup and enjoy the ocean breeze & views -- but sadly the weather had other plans! I highly recommend making a reservation, and it was definitely necessary the day we came since the high wind and rain warnings caused Heart to close all their outdoor seating. This means a lot less availability, but they worked with what they had and despite having to move us a couple times when we first got there, they got us at a nice table by the time we were just starting our tasting. Besides the delicious wine, you need to ORDER THE FOOD from Seaside where their food menu is from! The sliders and arancini were so so delicious. We will be back to pair our wine with this great food again (and hopefully get to sit outdoors next time!).

Such a beautiful and adorable winery to spend your day at San Simeon. Located on the beach shore of San Simeon was a plus. Once entered the winery you can see the aura of historical site. I loved the decor rustic feeling of the ranch. We did the wine tasting with 5 different kind of wine. Marvelous. We ordered food which was delicious and enjoyed it so much. Jonathan and Renee were excellent. The service was great. We ordered coconut shrimp, chatucurie board, French fries, poke nachos , pulled pork sliders. Wow amazing lunch. For sure we will be back once to visit San Simeon. The view was amazing. The flowers and the settings of the tables and chairs were comfortably arranged.

We wandered in here after our trip to Hearst Castle. Without a reservation the nice hostess was able to get us in pretty quickly. The tasting fee is a little high for this area, but it is waived if you buy two bottles of wine per person. They have food available to order. We had the sliders and they were really good! The food guy was super nice. The outdoor seating areas overlook the beach. It's a beautiful setting. We even witnessed a proposal on the beach. Items for sale inside are overpriced. So is the little shop across the street. I heard their sandwiches are great though.

Beautiful winery with the best views!! If you're in the area you should stop by and do a wine tasting. Their outdoor area is right above the beach with unobstructed views of the bay. The wine was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was spot on with everyone being very friendly and accommodating. Thanks for making our honeymoon that much more special!

Beautiful views.

As a former General Manager of a winery, I understand that every guest interaction is an opportunity to represent a brand, build loyalty, and create a memorable experience. Hospitality is far more than delivering food and wine it is making every guest feel genuinely welcomed, valued, and cared for. When your name carries the legacy of Hearst, those standards should be even higher. The setting at Hearst Ranch Winery in San Simeon is undeniably beautiful. The oceanfront views are spectacular and make it a destination worth visiting. Unfortunately, the hospitality did not match the stunning location. This was our first visit, and sadly, it will more than likely be our last. Throughout our visit, it was evident that some guests received warm, attentive hospitality while others, including us, received only the minimum level of service. Hospitality should never feel selective. We ordered a charcuterie board, and after waiting approximately 30 minutes, I finally asked our server about it. Only then were we informed that we were expected to walk across to the General Store, pick up the board ourselves, and bring it back to the winery. We were also told that the winery kitchen is closed on Mondays and that the host had apparently been confused when taking our order. Had this been communicated at the time of ordering, the misunderstanding and the lengthy wait could have been avoided entirely. The apology we received felt disingenuous and lacked the ownership that transforms a service failure into a positive recovery. Mistakes happen in every hospitality business. What guests remember most is how those mistakes are handled. Hearst Ranch Winery has an extraordinary location and a name synonymous with excellence. I sincerely hope leadership reinforces that every guest deserves the same level of warmth, professionalism, and hospitality from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave. Beautiful views may bring people through the doors, but exceptional hospitality is what brings them back.

October 11, 2025 - San Simeon, CA We made same-day reservations and lucked out with an early time slot (11:30). Beforehand, we received a helpful text message letting us know that, due to high winds, umbrellas wouldn't be open and to bring hats or sun protection--much appreciated! Our confirmation email mentioned we could order food to enjoy with our wine tasting. We selected the Seaside@HRW Tasting Room option and placed our online order so it would be ready shortly after our arrival. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. We began our tasting in the indoor tasting room with the 2024 Three Sisters White Cuvée (delicious!) before being led to our outdoor table. The views at Hearst Ranch Winery are breathtaking--an expansive ocean view that was absolutely stunning. As luck would have it, the wind had died down, making it a perfect afternoon for a seaside lunch and wine tasting. We enjoyed the "Legacy Tasting." As wine club members, our tasting was complimentary. The flight included the 2022 GSM, 2022 Saunders Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 2022 Lone Tree Cabernet Franc, and 2022 Pancho Petit Verdot. Our wine server, Teresa, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about each wine. We had a wonderful tasting experience overall. Tip: Make a reservation before you go! As we were leaving, I overheard the hostess tell a caller that they were fully booked for the day.

What a spot. It sits right on the sand at San Simeon so you get the waves, the pier, and those big eucalyptus trees all in one view. We did a tasting and everything poured was solid, and the inside is cozy too with leather chairs and windows framing the ocean. There is a historic barn on the property and a little shop with wine and gear. It can fill up on a sunny day so get there earlier if you want a front table, but honestly every seat has a view. Such a relaxing afternoon, will be back.

What a beautiful place! All the staff so nice and knowledgeable. We sat at a great table right above the water. The umbrella was perfect. We ate a sandwich that we ordered from Sebastian's across the street. Not very crowded and we weren't hurried. Did some bird watching. Oh and tasted some excellent red wines.

Across the street is Sebastian's. You can take your food over there to the winery.

The atmosphere is really high end. Very fancy and perfect for parties and receptions. The servers were super nice and very personable. A few friends had salmon cakes and burgers and loved them. The rest of us brought our food over from Sebastian's. I highly recommend this for special occasions.

Great beach front winery Ambience: very modern styling. Indoor bar and seating. Outdoor tables and seating over looking the beach. The building looks like an old barn. Service: The hostess at the entrance was excellent. We did a walk in as I had trouble booking online. We waited 30 minutes on a weekday. The lady serving us was nice, but seemed to chat more with the club members and was a bit slow on the pouring. Drinks: the wine was excellent, Pros: - They allowed our children to bring in their sandwiches that we bought at the little store on site. - Beach front - Clean bathrooms - Lots of room to roam around Cons: - slow servings - Cold outside - recommend bringing a blanket as we did or that they have loaner blankets or heaters - would be nice to have a beach access spot - Pricey tasting few or you need to buy 2 bottles that range in the $30's All in all nice location they did have a power outage but still able to pay.

Peaceful scenic winery on the beach in San Simeon. This newly renovated winery has great beachy vibes and is a must visit on the central coast. Their unique wines are some of our favorites . We love the Chardonnays especially the proprietor blend with a touch of oak finish. The pinots are amazing along with the GSM blends you can enjoy with the tasty food from Sebastions across the street

I tried to ask someone one time where the tasting room is and they weren't very friendly. But now it is very clearly marked and I was easily able to find it on my own this time. You can tell it's been newly remodeled. My friends and I decided to do the tasting. All of us like white wine only. They have a few selections but of course the one I really wanted to try wasn't available that day. And that was ok. They gave me 6 tokens to give one each time i wanted my next tasting. Well sine they didn't have one of the wines I wanted and white wine was more limited I asked if I could turn in two chips for two tastings of the same wine. And I did this also so I didn't have to come in and bother them as soon for another pour of the same thing. I was told they don't do that .... But then they did. It just doesn't make sense to me. I also was trying to be nice and I just felt like she was wasn't super friendly. This place has a gorgeous set up outside. They have nice comfy seating or high top tables which overlook the rolling green hills. This time of the year is absolutely beautiful. I can see the warmer months not being as pretty because I'm sure everything turns brown. I also loved watching the animals down below. The scenery was so majestic. I will definitely be back again. This will probably be on my list of "must visits" every time I visit Cambria. There are just certain places you that you always remember and must go back to, and this is one of them for me.

The views are beautiful, and depending on where you're seated, you can either enjoy the harbor scenery or spend some time people-watching. The artwork on the wine labels is stunning and adds a unique touch to the experience. I also appreciated the stories behind the wine names, the focus on small-batch production, and especially the charity bottle program. It's clear that a lot of thought and passion go into the brand. As for the wines themselves, they just weren't a fit for my palate, particularly at the price point. I recognize that wine preferences are highly personal, and there were others around the tasting room who seemed to enjoy them much more than I did. I also felt that the tasting experience could have been more engaging. Our server was pleasant not the most engaging, we felt like we were bothering her. Overall, I appreciated the creativity, mission, and atmosphere, even though the wines and tasting experience didn't quite resonate with me.

I'm sure you've heard of and tasted many of their items. Today it's wine with lunch. I picked up six for an anniversary celebration. This group forced me to sit and enjoy lunch with them. I was told by the "wonderful owner (a few years back) that this property is the only winery and restaurant in the country with a Michelin Star. I know it's difficult to obtain, I'm not sure how long that star lasts either. 90% percent of the dining is done on the patio surrounding the main room Our server Carley, she was pleasant and tolerated the guests (us) she served. Now the menu is short and expensive, more places & restaurants seem to going in that direction. I really wanted the tomahawk pork chop but I settled with the spring salad and a small portion of King Salmon. Justin's is known for their Burger and a side of truffle fries will put you back a bit. if you have to ask.... The wine was brought out one white and one red. I don't drink but both flavors were applauded. I ordered a bottle of sparkling water. The stories flowed, I didn't really know these folks, they were good AG people from Bakersfield. So we got acquainted, the most annoying thing were the flies. They had those table top fly spinners but on another table so that didn't help us much. The food was delicious, no question although the pasta dish with chicken for L had a very long and dark hair on it you really couldn't miss it. Other than that excitement we all enjoyed our meal. I had a couple slices of the pork, not as tender as I would have thought but it tasted real good. Salad a tad small but flavorful. I missed out on dessert, the wine was enough. Overall a very nice setting with a casual pace, perfect for those special occasions. Reservations on line a must So another free lunch, they do happen occasionally, cash is preferred but hey I'm not complaining, I'll keep that to myself. Thanks Foodguy-Martin

The people there care for your experience and every wine you taste is great and doesn't change with every sip. This place mostly was focused on extracting money. I went there because they were recommended by so many friends to me. That's probably where they are lucky. That's why people visit them and because they are so hyped the person visiting has to also like them. The employees here are not motivated enough to be nice or attend the guests properly during the end of the day. The lady on the front desk in front of the entry was super rude. In a 3 mins conversation she mentioned at least 4 times how they were about to close and they are unable to provide us anything except the wine tasting. We had an appointment for 3:30 and the winery closes at 5:00. I would have understood if it was 4:30. I was celebrating my birthday and I mentioned it. It literally meant nothing to her and she never mentioned it in her notes while she mentioned that they will do a chocolate flight with a candle. The guy who helped us with our wine tasting was good but visibly tired. He tried his best. Even arranged a charcuterie board for us. He did mention they were about to close but that made sense. He was genuinely happy to see us when we went inside to pay. The only good deed done to us was asking us if we needed waters for the road. Also I liked the breezy fan feature. The wines are not very appealing. A lot better can be done with the taste, recipes and fermentation process. The prices are very high for the experience and the wines. Next day we went to another winery with Amazing views. They were so welcoming and warm and the moment I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday they were extra pampering. There wine flights were appropriately priced.Every wine we tasted was great and even after my wine purchase I did not feel robbed. That was some unforgettable experience. At Justin our experience was DULL and TIRING and not good at all. I am never going to recommend Justin to anyone. PS- Don't go there because people are mentioning it the moment they hear Paso Robles. There wines are no better than the wines you get at the medium shelf of the drugstore. Views are just OK. Use your money at a better winery.
