As a long time customer of Seattle Mini, I have always been pleased with the service I've received. Until recently, that is, when I had a very atypical experience with a service rep that had me seriously considering either driving to Fife for service, or to a Mini certified non-dealer. Knowing that Seattle Mini can't resolve any issues if you don't give them the feedback, I dropped an email to Raychel, the Service Manager. I received an immediate response, in spite of her being home ill that day. Within a day she had a loaner brought to me at Bellevue office, and my car picked up for service. The service here is just awful. They overcharge at obscene levels. My driver's seat back broke for no apparent reason (it was stuck in the recline position and wouldn't stay up), and I took the car into the dealership to have it fixed. At the same time, I was getting my oil changed. Not only did they take a week before they said it was ready, but I had to call them to find out it could be picked up, because they don't call you to let you know that it's ready. Imagine my surprise when, after a week of waiting, I come to the dealership to find that the seat back is in exactly the same state it was before! I was even more surprised when I looked at the invoice and saw that there was a $150 charge for the seat. I assumed they thought they had fixed it - then I looked closer. The $150 charge, was in fact, for *diagnosing* the seat problem. Their diagnosis? "Seat broken." Seriously. I went into the dealership to talk to the receptionist about the problem. She didn't even apologize, and when I asked what could be done about it, she told me I could leave the car there. I said I'd already waited a long time and needed my car back, and wanted to know whether there was anything that could be done immediately. No, she said, you shouldn't have come in so late - everyone in the service department is gone already. It was a little unsettling that she tried to blame me for this, considering that a) it wasn't my fault that the seat wasn't fixed in the first place and b) I'd come in well before closing time, as soon as work got out on a weekday. Awful car service, awful customer service, awful prices. They'll also mislead you into believing this is the only place to get proper Mini service, as others will be lacking the expertise and parts necessary to service your car. This is false. If you can find another service provider in your area who say they can service Minis, go there. At least you'll have a shot at actually getting your problem fixed. (And many of them actually seem to know Minis better than the folks at the dealership.) read more

I love my mini! I am a second time owner my first was a 2005 blue beauty, and now I have a 2009 red convertible that I adore! I have never had any reason to complain and you would think that a needy customer like me would. I have on several occasions just dropped by with questions and problems from week one. Flat tire light was on and I couldn't figure out why, so on my way to school I dropped in at 6:30 in the morning. The person who was there at the time hadn't even been close to opening yet, but still came out to help me. Everyone I have worked with has been super from trading in my old Cooper to buying and up-keeping my new one! I really could not imagine not owning a Cooper. read more

I don't recommend ever buying the "warranty" package from them. No real work will ever be done or replaced the appropriate time unless your car or part is essentially on the verge of breaking. Even the 30 point inspection is a complete lie. My vehicle had no wind shield wiper fluid and they didn't even top it off. When I called back and asked about it, I was told that I might have had to request the fluid to be topped off...? What exactly is the 30-point inspection that was checked off? I'm very sure that includes fluids, the easiest and cheapest of all things. If that's being skimped on, what other bigger or major service is not being done correctly or even done at all? Are they even changing oil cans and filters or just marking it done like they do with inspections? Called back and asked for a manager to which no avail. Be cautious if you still intend to visit this location, I would advise to "request" and confirm everything done even if notated they did it. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively painless the process actually was. I knew what I wanted, having researched online beforehand, so I think that helped expedite things. November 2013 we started looking at getting a smaller car. On our list to research and test drive was the Mini Cooper Hardtop. Our sales person Bill V. had approached us. We asked a ton of questions, he answered all. He was quite knowledgeable which is always a bonus when trying to make an informed decision. We test drove one of he Hardtops. Great car and handles really well. Bill and I had a few email exchanges trying to come to an agreement on an offer we made. We got close to what we wanted but no cigar. I wasn't willing to budge, but that's how it goes. The holidays came so we put things on hold, but kept searching the internet. I have to say, Seattle Mini (Lake City) and Northwest Mini (Tacoma) stays on top of their listings which is always a bonus. Some where mid January 2014 another Mini Hardtop popped up. It was "certified" which was what we wanted. Bill worked with us, gave us a slight deal, but then again, the prices had already dropped lower than we expected. Needless to say, we were able to shake and close on a deal. What created a LOT of anxiety for me prior to walking on this car lot or ANY other car lot for that matter are the sales people. Unfortunately, the sales people I have dealt with in the past have given this type of position a bad rap. I am super allergic to all of them. Bill was AWESOME! He was patient, not too aggressive, humble, soft spoken, but nicely assertive. He didn't act like a jerk. I do think I may have scared him since I am strong willed. There was another sales person, Chuck who had answered a few of our questions when Bill was not there, he too was very nice and knew his Mini's. We had a good experience with this purchase. Financing on the other hand was, well, let's just say, "hard sales". She informed us of all the packages which was helpful, yet irritating, since we didn't want any of it. I probably should have said something in the very beginning....that's one hour I will never get back. She was nice and doing her job, but also trying to close in on the finals sale. My advice to anyone buying a new or used car, educate yourself. Do your research first. Know the market for the type of car you are wanting. This gives you the knowledge/armor to ask the questions you are seeking and know when someone is jacking you around. Lastly, go see Bill V at Seattle Mini. On December 5 2017- I took my 2012 Mini Countryman S All4 to an independent foreign auto repair shop to run a diagnostic check/tune up/oil change. My High Pressure Fuel Pump was failing. The shop informed me that Mini had an extended warranty and would replace the HPFP at no cost, as it met the engine model/year/mileage, Terms and conditions. I contacted Seattle Mini and they confirmed that they would replace the part at no cost once they confirmed it with their own Diagnostic check. I was very pleased I could get in right away. Today, December 7th, I took the Mini in, and within 2.5 hours the fuel pump was replaced. But... The diagnostic check showed that I had an oil leak from the oil pump volume control solenoid and it had entered into the DME Control Unit. Price Quote: $ 2,533.96 - Also an engine harness $1,124.49. Total: $ 3,658.45. I immediately contacted the independent shop that had performed a full inspection and Diagnostic only 2 days ago to ask them how they possibly could've missed such a major issue. They asked me to bring the vehicle in immediately to look at it again. I left Mini, and within the next half hour my car was in the independent repair shop again being examined by 2 mechanics and the owner. After 30 or so minutes they came in, looked at me and said "You should be very mad". There was absolutely NO oil anywhere near or in the DME Control Unit. Yes, the solenoid needs to be replaced, and there was a repair kit available to fix the leak. It was recommended that I contact Mini Seattle and file a formal complaint. I am only writing this now, to warn others, to ALWAYS get a second opinion by a professional before plunking down thousands in repair. I am very angry at how dishonest Seattle Mini was to me. I am also determining if I will take this to the BBB, and file a complaint with consumer protection, I feel this needs to be investigated further.. read more

This Review is about the MINI Service Center only... and not about the Dealership as a whole. To start with, someone needs to teach the Customer Service Representatives to smile. Secondly, they need to be taught how to be a little considerate. They seem to be quite arrogant for such customer-facing positions. They would have no hesitation in refusing service by using lame excuses. They do not hesitate to bother customers to come back multiple times unnecessarily rather than help resolve issues sooner. Thirdly, they could use some better learning about customer co-ordination, courteous behavior, and common sense rather than go by textbook like statements. Lastly, they are very expensive when it comes to labor, in addition to already expensive parts. It is a pure rip-off big-time. For everything they would charge 2 labors - one for diagnosis & two for fix/install. Ideally, they should credit back the diagnosis towards fix/install if the customer chooses to perform the fix then and there. The technician is not really going to spend twice the amount of time. Very Unreasonable Service Center. I wish I could avoid going there. But, there are parts that are available only at the MINI service center. So, I have to force myself to go there. Sometimes, it feels as if the technicians program the cars such that the customers are required to come back to the service center every other month. This past summer we had the best car buying experience when Devin Waniger helped us select our first Mini at Seattle Mini. Devin has an obvious passion for the Mini and is incredibly knowledgeable about this line of vehicles. But, more than anything else, Devin made the experience of buying so easy. While Devin sells cars, he's in no way a "car salesman" in the sense that we've all traditionally encountered at other car dealerships. Devin was so fun, personable and engaging that it felt more like hanging out with a friend who knows a lot about cars. There was zero pressure. We got to take a few cars out for a test drive on our own to get a real sense of the models without distraction, and then back in the lot Devin was there to answer all our questions. We are so happy with the purchase we made, and so happy with how it felt to buy a car. Devin is the real deal. No games, no car-dealership theatrics. He very simply helped us find the right car for us and made it a positive and fun experience. If we needed to buy another Mini, we would go right back to Devin. My 2003 Cooper S was overheating and I had received a recall notice on the steering motor pump so I went in to have it serviced. Took nearly 4 hours and $650 (replaced the secondary fan to deal with the overheating issue). The next week the car overheated again. Seems like an antifreeze leak vs a fan problem. I setup a second appointment online for 8 am. Dropped off the car before 8. Was told that there was a fee of $142 to checkout the problem which was disappointing since I just spent $650 to address the overheating issue and they dealt with the car for hours. I went out with a friend to do a hike and had him drop me off at the dealership a little over 2 hours later. Asked how things were looking and was told that they had not even started looking at the car. Considering that I spent $650 already with zero success, that they wanted $142 to even look at the car, that I could be at the dealer much of the day with no loaner (I was told that the 8 am appointment was really just a drop off time), I simply asked for my keys back. I have an excellent mechanic that charges $0 to take a look, charges very reasonable rates and tends to diagnose and repair things the first time. No need to bother with the Mini dealership for maintenance and repairs. What a waste of time and money. I will say the people are pretty friendly at Seattle Mini and the showroom is comfortable. read more

By far the best car buying experience I have had. I had a chance to deal with Chuck, Michael, the manager Bob. The whole staff was professional, educated, and knowledgeable. The sales people were not pushy at all; they just answer questions, and show the cars. My guess is that they have figured that a car should sell by itself after driving it. I also had the chance to talk briefly with their manager and the customer service was outstanding. There are not many mini dealerships to choose from in the Nortwest but the Seattle store was a great experience. read more

I went drove up to Seattle Mini today to buy the no-hole front license plate holder. The purchasing process was efficient and I was thrilled when they told me that they can mount the holder. A gentleman who greeted me outside was pleasant, but it was very clear from the beginning that he lacked experience. When I started making suggestions based on the diagram, he readily told me that "he has not done this before." I was okay with this. Hey, we all have to learn it sometimes. He was honest about his shortcomings and I was okay with helping him figure it out. So there I was, kneeling in front of the car in my designer jeans with Antonio with a diagram and a bunch of screws between us. However, despite us spending sometime doing this, it was clear that we needed help because despite our attempts to tighten the screws, the license plate holder was not securely fastened to the large screw attached to car. We spent enough time fiddling with it and I suggested to him that we need help. Antonio went inside and brought out another man. He stood over both of us and was hearing us trying to explain what's going on. After I finished my sentences, instead of acknowledging what I was saying, he told me, "why don't you go inside and get yourself some coffee and let us figure this out." WHAT? WHERE THE HECK WERE YOU BEFORE? You are offering me coffee now after sending out a guy who is totally inexperienced? I have three issues with this situation in regards to customer service: 1. Providing service to a customer with an employee who is clearly inexperienced and unsuited for the job. It was clear from both of us that he needed supervision from the beginning despite his honest effort. 2. Wasting customer's time - this should have gone a lot smoother, faster and more efficient. 3. A dense employee who was did not understand the dynamic that he was walking into and was condescending to a female customer. We just bought our third Mini Cooper... this time from Seattle MINI! We needed something bigger as we now have a child and it was our first time at this dealership (we recently moved from across the country). We looked over a few cars in the lot and were then met by Ron Yinger, "Motoring Advisor". We found his approach to be as non-slimy, non-slick, super cool and super chill as possible. Within 15 min of meeting him we were test driving a 2016 4-door Mini Cooper with the baby strapped in the back and us in the front... yup, they let us take it without a salesperson in the car with us! We weren't ready to buy the car that exact day and they were totally okay with that. We came back two more times before we finally drove off with our new car. And to top it off, the overall experience was even more excellent because we had our toddler with us and they never made us feel like he was in the way. A few days ago I purchased my first of many mini's. As a little girl I had always dreamed of having one and I stumbled upon a mini that was literally everything I wanted. I submitted an Internet inquiry on the car and was almost immediately contacted by their internet department. I kind of blew them off for a while because I didn't think I was ready to buy. Chuvit reached out to me to follow up and was very persistent about getting me in the door to at least test drive the car. I had dealt with some other sales consultants that left a bad taste in my mouth at Seattle mini, but due to the hard work that Chuvit put in to making this deal happen for me I don't think it's relevant to yelp. Chuvit was awesome he reached out to me and kept in contact with me for nearly a month before we made the deal. Just had an oil change done. Service dept. promised it will be done in 2 hours and in fact, it was done before 2 hours. Shuttle service is very convenient and the driver, I forget his name (he's a new shuttle driver at Seattle MINI that just came in from Michigan), is very nice and friendly I have to commend him. I was sent back home when my car was being serviced and was picked up again at home by the shuttle service to get my car back. I highly recommend Seattle MINI's service department; they know how to treat a customer. Keep up the great job! read more

I wanted a mini for several years now and I decided to finally go by the other day and take a look. First off, they are one of the most incredible cars to drive! They handle amazing and for the size have a great amount of power and are a quiet ride. The dealership is very well kept and modern and I liked that a lot. I worked with Robert Lee and he was great! He had me drive a few Mini's first to decide exactly what I wanted and then worked really hard with the financing team there to make sure that it was going to work. There was a little bit of a wait during those times, but that is expected with any car purchase and they have a great waiting area during that time. Robert was great and I was happy to work with him, he was really forward and told me what would work for financing and what wouldn't. He was always running back and forth and still made it a point to say hi to other clients coming in, it was a busy day there, but he always made me feel like I was his only client. After Robert figured out what would work I was able to work with Alicia in Finance and she was so polite and friendly! I am happy to say that I am in an awesome 2013 Mini Cooper that I love to drive. David Wolf was generous with his time, enthusiastic about his product and truly wonderful to work with. Buying a Mini Cooper is all about customizing your perfect car. That takes time and patience on the part of the dealer salesperson as you walk back and forth, seemingly forever, comparing colors and interiors. Dave was GREAT. Never wavered, never bored...just a true professional...and I think a friend.
