I was really disappointed with my experience there. I decided to celebrate my mother's 74th birthday there with friends and family. First they seated us right next to the kitchen, so we could hear all of the clanging and banging of dishes. Additionally, the kitchen plates stacked up on shelves didn't make for a pleasing backdrop to my pictures.
Two of our party ordered Rainbow Trout. The waitress put the order in, only to come back later and inform us that they were out of trout. It seems that they should have known in advance what options were unavailable and notified their servers to inform their guests upfront. A lot of time was wasted. The server was slightly less than gracious when I expressed my disappointment, having waited so long to place our orders, only to be asked to select new items. I have a very limited diet, so it wasn't so simple to select something else. Initially, I declined, but as I had literally not eaten anything all day, I eventually chose something that I did not want, and was forced to pay a la carte, as it was a non-entree meal I was forced to put together.
The lobster bisque was tepid for all of my guests, not hot; as was my asparagus. Both who tried the beef skewers stated that the beef was tough and chewy. My mother ordered mac'n cheese. It looked dry when delivered. She tried to eat it, and refused to complain, so she just left it. They took it off of her meal, but that was half of her order. Her entire meal was non-appetizing and I felt bad that my mother's birthday dinner was ruined. One guest, accustomed to eating lamb, received tough lamb. He eats lamb frequently, a connoisseur of sorts in that area, he knows quality lamb preparation. This didn't make the cut. He ordered something else.
It took me a long time to settle on Seasons 52. In fact one of our party asked me not to select it because she had heard bad reviews. I assured her that her reviews were wrong, as I've eaten their numerous times. I was embarrassed and had egg on my face for choosing a restaurant that turned out dismally. The chef and management visited our table to encourage us to try different meals that we didn't want. I'm really not sure why they visited our table. They didn't offer to make anything right, and my mother's birthday dinner was a bust. That is not the type of service that I expected from this restaurant.
The server was a bit sarcastic. She smiled, but her tone was sharp at times and she answered questions in a condescending manner.
I won't be visiting this restaurant anytime soon. I should have taken my mother to Jags in West Chester. To date, I've never had a bad experience there. They're consistent. Seasons 52 could use tips on customer service. read more
