I have to say the wine was excellent, the service was great, really cute place indoors and outdoors... but, $18 for this cheese and charcuterie plate??? I'm glad we didn't order more plates. This was such a small plate for $18, and they didn't even put enough jam... :(. Great wine, great shareables, chill ambiance! We walked in and the place seemed small, but they've got a large downstairs area, so there's no shortage of seating! The ambiance is very warm and rustic, featuring exposed brick all along the walls and a cozy fireplace. I got an Italian flight that went along with tonight's "disco" theme along with the cheese board, Brussels sprouts, two pasta varieties, and the house bread/spread -- all was incredible! The front half of our time was very chill and quiet, and then it quickly picked up for a very lively environment with a DJ, dancing, and disco themed outfits. Visited this establishment for a friends birthday. We had the entire downstairs to ourselves which had its own bar. The atmosphere was superb. Low lighting and plenty of area for sitting. Our friend recommended something new for us to try, so we decides to try Oakley Wines on a Sunday for their wine tasting and pop-up pasta. Wine tasting runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and includes 5 wines that they've selected, from what I could tell most of the wines were from smaller winemakers produced in smaller batches. The wine tasting is done at your pace they keep track of which wine each person in the group is on. Each of the wines is described by the server, page were provided with a description of each of the wines on a piece of paper. Each of the wines we tasted were unique and each of the three of us found wines that we would like to buy. The cost of the wine tasting was $10 for the 5 wines. On the sheet of paper that we were provided it lists what the price of the wine would be by the glass by the bottle if you drank it there, or the bottle if you took it to go. Also every Sunday they have Sunday sauce a pop-up pasta party with chef David Jackman. Each Sunday David prepares a couple or so pasta dishes usually one of which is vegetarian and one or more others could be meat or whatever local fresh ingredients he might find. On this Sunday David prepared two fresh pasta dishes, a vegetarian agnolotti and a pork ragu spacciatelle. Both were fantastic. Incredibly disappointed in this establishment. The waitress completely disregarded our question on how the corking fee was $26 for a $25 bottle of wine. She said she would speak with the manager but did no such thing as we could see her the entire time. We specifically asked for a breakdown in the price of a bottle of wine that had a different name than the one on the menu. We overheard a different waiter stating the corking fee was either $15 or $10 depending on the price of the wine. We were not trying to nickel and dime her, but we wanted to understand how the corking fee could be more than the actual bottle itself. Needless to say, we will not be back. read more

Third time I've been there, first time under new ownership. The food sampling's are much improved since acquired by the Rhined. My girlfriend and I tried their version of a fondue and the squash tart. Both were delightful and properly portioned for the price. Wine selection was good, however the person serving couldn't tell you much about the wines. She could tell you what grape, but beyond that (such as dry or sweet, etc.) that was lost in her. The Cellar at Oakley Wines is one of Cincinnati's best kept secrets. Just a staircase below the contemporary wine shop above, you are instantly transported into a sexy Italianesque dungeon of sorts, complete with glass rock fireplace, and just about every drink you could ever want. I like spots that can go quickly from day to night. What I mean by that, is you can take a client here - have a glass of wine, and then you slip off your blazer and meet a date here for cocktails. The atmosphere is really one of a kind. Most wine spots are just that - wine. This place really accommodates everyone, and that is hard to do in a group of even 3 or 4. Someone is always hungry (Pro-tip get the charcuterie plate). Somebody is always "in the mood for a craft beer" or "prosecco" (me!) And Zach has done a wonderful job curating a menu that has something for everyone AND every mood while still maintaining the integrity of each. Now, let's talk about integrity for a second. Something that more and more gets lost in translation. When you come here you are getting a selection: wine, beer, cocktail (what have you) that has been pre-screened to fit the highest of standards. Having worked at Boca for years, and many other spots as the beverage director, Zach's palate is finely tuned and he won't adjust his standards under any circumstances. And it's businesses owners like this, that just fill my soul with gratitude. Here's a story for you -- the first time I was in (and I've been back many times since) he had no idea who I was, they were brand new, and I asked the bartender if I could have a slice of lemon or a splash of lemon juice for my cocktail (I felt like it needed just a little hit of acid). He got up from his computer at the bar, went behind the bar, tasted it, and completely re-worked the cocktail. Took the drink off the bill. And not even knowing me, or my taste level, took what I said right to heart. I was shocked. This person CARES GUYS. He GENUINELY cares. And can you for a second imagine the life of a business owner? They have a family at home, they work long hours, most of the time don't even stop to eat. For someone to be going through all of that, and still take the time to jump behind the bar because a customer asks for a lemon tells me that the reason this buisnesses is successful is because there is someone who is passionate behind the wheel and these are the businesses that I love giving my money to. After years of being in this industry, this is one of those instances that will be burned in my mind forever. So please, stop what you're doing - and bookmark Oakley Wines, you will not be disappointed! read more

This is a great place to enjoy a drink and a snack at the bar of this very tasteful, sleek, sexy cellar. And it is not only for wine lovers, as they have a well stocked FULL BAR with cocktails, beers and kitchen serving warm plates to share! YUM! Encouraged by the super informative fun wine class earlier in the day, I felt like I had to come again and show this place to my Husband. We had so much fun! The bar is so nicely designed, very comfortable and cooool (I think the bar countertop is concrete), which is such a blessing in the current Cincy sticky heat! There is a quality wine shop upstairs stocked with great wines under 20 bucks, so you can grab something from there and enjoy in the cellar, but they have a long list of wines by the glass, beers and cocktails. I tried the goat cheese dip with pita bread and it was a great addition to the glass of Rose. I was surprised to see they offer a weekend breakfast! Way to go! Great place! My Wife was so excited about the place and although I was afraid it would be just a wine bar (which is not my drink of choice), I was proven wrong! It is a cool inviting cellar under a small wine shop and they have a full bar, including a vast beer menu with some beer on tap. They have a short yet compelling food menu, including fancy dips with pita and freshly made flat breads. These are great for a drink or two and definitely shareable. The whipped goat cheese dip was excellent. The bartenders make a very good professional impression and the Owner was circling around, making sure everything was top notch. We had a pleasure of sitting at the bar with the Parents of the Owner, who told us about the years they lived in Paris. I kind of get the idea on how Zach, the owner, got hooked up on wines :D Since they have so many great wines in store, I asked for a Guinness Port. They do not have that on the menu, but were happy to accommodate my wish and it was exactly what I was missing from Europe! Great rich but flat stout with a side kick of Port wine! Very cool space. Upstairs is a standard local bar. Brick walls and high top seating. However, downstairs there is even more seating and more of a "we're sitting in a winery" feeling. They allowed us to reserve a pretty large table which was really nice. They did eventually get too busy and with one bar tender, a full bar, and individual tables, we began to be forgotten. Love this place, it's super cute! They have great tasting options for happy hour and serve nice cheese plates/small bites. If youre here with a 5+ big group or on colder nights, there's a really welcoming downstairs area with more group seating. I like coming here in summer and.fall season with girlfriends. I went to Oakley Wines YEARS ago for a tasting and remember it being a crowded little room with cardboard boxes stacked up against all the walls, and it's now blossomed into a beautiful little butterfly. I've been trying to go back since they opened up their new basement cellar, but what FINALLY got me through the door was a Facebook ad promoting Bachelor Mondays! I mean, I don't mean to sound like a hopeless romantic, but put me in a room full of TVs with The Bachelor and endless glasses of wine, and I am so there. The experience completely exceeded expectations! The ambiance in the cellar was perfect -- dim lighting, wood covered walls, intimate seating, etc. It wasn't completely packed like other wine bars in the area, but we're pretty sure that's because people have quite discovered it yet. We bonded instantly with the gals at the bar who were obviously also there for Bachelor Ben (sidenote: fellas if you're looking to wine and dine -- literally -- with some single girls, look no further than Oakley Wine cellar on Monday nights at 8pm). The instant we saw the smores dessert they ordered, my friends and I just KNEW we had to have it too. They literally serve you a wooden cutting board with all the smores fixins including your very own mini fire pit to roast your marshmallows. Hello?! How adorable is that? We legit couldn't wait to blast it all over social media (and subsequently received TONS of comments and texts asking where we were and how jealous they all were!) Beautiful cellar downstairs from Oakley Wines. I can't believe I just now found this place. The space is absolutely lovely and very cozy. Lots of candles and a roaring fire made it the perfect spot for a cold winter night. The lady at the bar made a nice wine recommendation which my friend and I both enjoyed (around 9$ per glass). They do offer a full bar, some fun cocktails, beer and a great menu of tasty bites. Even though the place was packed we got plenty of attention. I plan to return very soon! read more

Checked this place out on a Friday night for the first time this past weekend and have to say I love the warm atmosphere. It's definitely a fun date night or girls night out. Don't be fooled as this isn't a place just for wine. I actually think the khaleesi cocktail was my fav as its unlike anything I've had and as a fan of spicy things, this one definitely hits the spot! The staff is super friendly and they have a few TV screens cow takes so if you want to catch a game and avoid the crowds, Oakley Wines lets you do both in a more intimate atmosphere. I think this is a great place to wind down from a busy week and they sell beer and wine too. The staff is happy to spend time with you to learn more about wines and make a good selection. I also learned they do a wine tasting on Fridays for $10 with 5 2 oz samples from 5-8pm. Definitely something worth trying with the variety of wines they offer. read more

I had a 30th Birthday Party for my friend at Oakley Wines. The space was amazing and the staff was very knowledgable about the different wines. We had around 50 people at the party and the service was great. They even allowed me to decorate for my friend and bring in my own dessert. It is a great place to hold a birthday party/event. They will let you rent out the top floor on Saturdays. I highly recommend Oakley Wines and I cannot wait to go back for a date night. read more

I have been dying to stop into Oakley Wines for a few weeks now and this place has exceeded expectations! A good friend saw that Oakley Wines was promoting a "Bachelor Monday" watch party in their cellar bar and obviously the inner girly girl in me squealed at the thought of my gal pals, some great wine, and The Bachelor! The store is right off of Oakley Square and is gorgeous. The upstairs is minimalist and clean and houses an impressive selection of wine for purchase. A nice detail that I bet gets overlooked is that it also offers a decent selection of craft beer as well just in case customers want to switch it up. It also contains a small tasting bar. The downstairs cellar bar was stunning, setting the perfect mood for a girls night. The bartenders were super friendly and knew their product. After a few short questions the bartender recommended a wine and it was SPOT ON what I wanted. The space isn't huge but definitely still warm and welcoming. My friends and I were discussing how soon we can rent it out for some sort of event! As the evening continued the customers next to us ordered the most adorable table top Smores tray complete with sticks and an open flame. WE HAD TO HAVE IT. Of course the only thing that could have put a cherry on top of this night was chocolate and roasted 'mallows. Let me tell ya, it was worth every bite. The best thing about this place? It was a chill Monday night and I still had a blast. I cannot wait to checkout Friday happy hour tastings and try some of their light appetizers. A friend and I went last night to the new wine bar in the basement at Oakley Wines and were very impressed with the ambiance! It balances classy and casual and was particularly cozy on a cool fall night with all of the candles lit on the bar and on the wall sconces, plus a very neat fire burning in the original incinerator of the building. The music was also very nice...it morphed from chill ambient music (very European) to soft jazz as the evening progressed. The selection of wines by the glass was well curated and reasonably priced and there were a few carefully chosen appetizers to choose from (we had whipped goat cheese with honey which was delicious, but would have been better served with some type of cracker versus pita bread). The bartenders and owner/manager were quite friendly as well. It's my new favorite neighborhood bar and I would highly recommend it. read more
