Mr Crab Roll - 2nd one that was a much nicer presentation and maybe tastier because of that
Jon N.

Super friendly and helpful staff in a sleek, clean setting. Nice, approachable sake menu with something for every palate and wallet. Food was really fresh and delicious. We tried a few rolls, and I had some outstanding uni. Low carb rolls intrigued and didn't disappoint. Pressed sushi was good, but way, WAY too much rice. It was the main flavor of the dish and ultimately disappointing - I wouldn't recommend or get again. We both loved the Mr. Crab roll enough to order a 2nd one, and found it incredibly odd that it was a completely different presentation. While, I know, it's not that big a deal, it's weird to see. It is pricey, but it's really good. We'll definitely return.

We decided to drive 35 miles, in the rain, to have Christmas Dinner at Seabutter and to celebrate our daughter's birthday because we love sushi. It was our first time at this restaurant. Reservation was early, at 4:30PM. We got there at 4PM. Nobody was there except for the staff. Our waiter Albert was very knowledgeable and able to describe and suggest different menu items. The fish was definitely fresh and delicious. We tried different ones. Service was super quick as no other tables were there. Prices were reasonable but again, we can't afford to eat that kind of food on a weekly basis anymore, unfortunately. Ambiance was neutral. Bright lights. No Christmas decorations at all (not that we cared) but the restaurant looked clean. I didn't rate it 5 stars only because I mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and they didn't acknowledge it. Not a big deal but it would have been a nice gesture.

I came here on a Friday for a girls dinner out so we could try their pressed sushi. The inside is nice and simple, it's what you'd expect and is an enjoyable atmosphere. We ordered the Pressed Tail and Salmon Avo for the pressed sushi, and a Specialty Roll. The Specialty Roll was amazing and so was their Salmon Avo. We were recommended this restaurant from other friends so we didn't expect any less. The Pressed Tail was interesting, if you like mushrooms on your sushi then I'd say give it a try. I probably wouldn't order it again for personal preference but nice to try for fun. We also ordered dumplings as a side and those were delicious. The service seemed great around the restaurant, but we just didn't get as lucky with our waitress. It's just she barely came to our table, not anything major though. I'd also recommend to others if you are in the Beverly Hills area. They have many items to choose from! I would definitely comeback and try others

This review is based on the Taste of Seabutter - the prix fixe menu The quality of the fish was delicious, this comes with a starter, sashimi, Nigiri, pressed sushi, and hand roll. The nigiri was actually delicious and I do like that the chef puts an effort to season the fish along with the rice, which does add some flavor to the overall experience. The selection was pretty good and standard, you get salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The pressed sushi is an interesting concept, it is essentially a deconstructed roll that is formed into a rectangular prism. My favorite is the specialty nigiri because it has unique fish cuts. The service was great, everything came out fast and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant itself is very clean, Bright, and peaceful. The only thing that I am pressed about is the fact that the taste of sea butter is a bit more expensive versus ordering Ć  la carte. So you are better off ordering off the regular menu. However, if you have nothing better to order, this might be better for you. Fortunately, this is not a showstopper. I did enjoy my overall experience at this restaurant.

This restaurant is charging if you choose to get LESS rice!

Why do you charge for a customer to get LESS rice? Trash. Less rice is less product, you should give a discount.

One of the low carb rolls... all fish and crunchy radish wrap - must have!

We found Seabutter on Yelp... great reviews so we had to try. During the holiday weekend since the Americana was so crowded we opted to dine outside the center but still nearby. I called in ahead to make sure there was no wait and luckily we were seated right away. The decor is simple and it didn't feel cramped. We got great recommendations from our waiter. Loved the low carb rolls especially the crunchy radish wrapping instead of rice paper. Fresh sashimi and sushi options!

Service was great, sushi was also really good and priced well, wasn't blown away by the edamame, I'd come back

Ordered take out because I had to lol I usually don't like take out sushi, because it just gets weird and mushy by the time it gets here. But this was different. Very well packed and the sauces were placed separately. I think this is why it was not mushy. I loved everything I ordered. Everything was fresh and light as usual. It's safe to now upgrade them to 5 stars Im glad they maintained their freshness and quality. I also loved the handwritten note.

Blue Crab Cut Roll, 4 stars

Just outside the walls of The Americana on Brand Blvd is Seabutter, a modern sushi restaurant with a large menu served in a minimalist space. Service was very good, and all the items were quite good. Pressed Toro - 4 stars. Their take on pressed sushi works, though I'm not a huge fan of truffle. Spicy Tuna Rice - 4 1/2 stars. Delicious! 2 little bites of creamy tuna with a bit of heat served atop crispy rice. Blue Crab cut roll - 4 stars. Quite good, but a bit forgettable. Chicken Kushiyaki - 4 1/2 stars. 2 delicious and very juicy skewers of chicken. Very small portion, would definitely get two orders next time. 911 Roll - 4 stars. One of the stronger items, packed with flavor and a great texture with the asparagus.

I've been ordering on DoorDash from here for a couple of weeks now, and they've been consistently outstanding. The sushi is incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor every time. Easily one of the best spots around--highly recommend.

Ate there last night. This is basically a 3 1/2 star sushi restaurant. I was expecting something a little more, but there wasn't much WOW factor. There is nothing wrong with it, but I can get this sushi anywhere. The ambience is very commercial and cold. It's definitely not a normal Japanese cool sushi restaurant. Service was decent so that is a plus. Prices are fair. It's a table restaurant, not a sushi bar restaurant. The food is OK. The servings were on the smaller side for sushi and rolls. Everything tasted fresh. Unfortunately, you can get this quality at any neighborhood sushi place and I was expecting a higher end cool sushi restaurant as previously mentioned. I would not drive here again, but if you're a local, check it out.

Marlyn Monroll & Salmon Medley
Sarah C.

High quality, quick service. I had the marlyn monroll and the salmon medley. I tried a piece of the Mr. Crab roll as well. Fish quality was very good. I especially enjoyed the truffle salmon. The marlyn was tasty with the sauce, but I was a bit surprised by how much I could taste the daikon without it. I've had daikon before but not in sushi. I'd probably skip this roll next time. Mr. Crab was a standout, especially if you like a heartier roll. The price point makes sense for the quality, buuuut if I was hungrier I'd probably prefer a sugarfish set.

Salmon Medley
Adriana G.

Delicious!! My partner and I stumbled on this sushi spot and they had so many great items! My absolute favorite was the crispy albacore roll. The albacore was so fresh and had a great portion of fish. The crispy onions --incredible! The salmon medley was also a great try -- the king salmon was my favorite! I was looking most forward to the spicy tuna crispy rice -- great flavor, but a little too hard on the edges for me! Nonetheless, we had a great time! Attentive service and casual dining vibes!

All the sushi were fresh and I was surprised to find that you can request real wasabi and it comes on certain orders as well. Staff are amazing super kind and friendly. Venue: 4: Large modern venue with tables and booths. Large sushi bar. No outdoor seating (you will see a few pictures of a heated patio on Yelp, but those belong to a different Sakana location). They take reservations on Open Table which we used, but when we visited on a Friday evening they were about 60% empty. Service: 4: Servers are friendly, polite and helpful, but a little disorganized. We had to remind them about one of our appetizers four times, and it finally appeared at dessert time :D Food: 3: Large and diverse menu of sushi, sashimi, appetizers and specialty rolls, as well as Japanese and Korean cooked items. Excellent, top notch high quality nigiri and sashimi. I had the Albacore, the Saba (Japanese Mackerel) and the Hokkaido Scallop sushi and all three were excellent. Unfortunately, the appetizers and the specialty rolls were heavily drenched in sauce, and in my humble opinion lacked in taste and character. We ordered the Sunny Roll, the Double Yellow Tail Roll and the 911, and they all tasted almost the same. Prices are more or less on par with other higher quality Japanese restaurants. Drinks: 4: Beer (on tap and in bottles), wine and sake. The Last Word 4: Nice, solid option for casual sushi fix if you are in the area. Best to stick with sushi and sashimi and not the rolls!

The interior has a modern aesthetic and even on a Wednesday evening, it was packed with a wait. We didn't have to wait too long, but as we ate and had dinner I noticed that it was full consistently. We sat down and they have have a wide array of items on their menu. We went with 3 dinner specials which have a small options (one has tempura, another with a California Roll. and one with Both) safe to we ordered one of each. For Apps we got some Edamame and Kaarage. For Rolls, we went with Rainbow Roll and Catapillar Roll. Starting with apps, the edamame to me was good a touch less salt which was great for my father. The karaage was flavorful with that sesame taste and juicy interiror. To me it was rather small compared to what I am used to, but flavor wise on par. The Rainbow roll is a staple anywhere I go for the first time as that gives me the array of fish with a California roll. The fish was fresh tasting and to me was fine. My slight disappointment was with the Caterpillar Roll, my parents just returned from Japan and the first thing they compared the roll to was what they experienced over there. Not a fair comparison, but none the less I am posting it here as refence as I see the same in surrounding restuarants here. The dinner special comes with Miso Soup, Salad, Protein of choice, and a choice of side (tempura, California Roll, or both). We each got one of the combinations. The Chicken Teriyaki was juicy and good compared to what I normally get from similar restaurants. Overall, a good choice if your simply looking for something balanced. What won me over, was the service. The place was packed and the staff and manager were out there doing what they can, but I didn't hear a single complaint around the restaurant. Not about the wait times, nor the food, and that matters. A small interaction that I happened to pick up, was one of the staff helping an elderly gentleman put on his coat. A small gesture but to me means the world. If they can take a second to do that for him, they really care about your experience. As a local favorite, I can highly recommend this place not just that the food is good, but because service tipped my scale. Mind the place was packed and smiles all around from everyone. I will be back if I am around, I am so glad I was able to finally check this one off my list!

This review is for the restaurant aspect of Sake; I understand this location presents more as a trendy lounge during certain times during the week; this review does not address this aspect. Our family came during the busy Montrose Arts Festival, having the Bento Box ($23), complete with spicy tuna, teriyaki salmon, soup, salad, and tempura shrimp, the baked BSCR ($17) and Tokyo Sunset ($19) rolls, and a K5 Paitan Pork Ramen ($14.50). The sushi rich but quite heavy on the mayo and sauce, the bento box varied with the only standout being the salmon teriyaki with a nice crust, and the ramen was a big hit with the kids. We finished with a Raspberry Macaron Ice Cream from the front freezer, which was tangy but frozen quite solid; it would benefit from a few minutes to thaw or the freezer temperature lowered by a few degrees. The inside is fashionable and clean. The staff was friendly and prompt, with our food arriving after 15-20 minutes. Prices are reasonable. We visited AJ…read moreNoodles last Saturday and ended up leaving after waiting an hour with no food because they were prioritizing online orders while we sat there. We arrived at 4:25. As soon as we were seated, I asked if I could place our order while we waited for the rest of our party, since I already knew what we wanted. The server said no--we had to wait until everyone arrived. Fair enough. Our friends arrived about five minutes later, but it still took about 15 minutes before anyone came over to take our order. The restaurant is small, and there were only about three other tables with customers, all of which were already eating. Thirty minutes after ordering, we still hadn't received a single item. My friend suspected they were fulfilling online orders first, so I went up to ask how much longer it would be. The response: another 30 minutes. At that point, after already waiting 45 minutes, we decided to leave. If the kitchen was that backed up, why not let us know? Why refuse to take the order when I first asked? Or at least warn us that the wait would be over 45 minutes? The food is good, but not worth that level of disregard for customers who are physically sitting in the restaurant. My friend later told me she's had issues with their customer service in the past as well. This was very disappointing, and we'll be choosing other ramen places from now on. It really seems like they're understaffed for the amount of dine-in and online orders they're trying to handle. Another person in the kitchen might make a huge difference.
