There is outdoor seating you're welcome to enjoy your meal at. Our food was out in less than five minutes, surprisingly fast. Bread is made in house and it was delightful. Fluffy, fresh, and balanced the fillings well. The tuna sandwich had a nice slice of iceberg lettuce which gave it a great crunch and mouthfeel. Brisket was balanced with fruit and a solid mustard. Both were ample in size. The sides were on point. The artichoke antipasti had a lot of pearl couscous but the marinated artichoke chunks were big too. Celery salad stole the show. Lovely balance of vinegar, dill, cheese, nuts, and great celery. A must get. Will come again to explore more of the menu. read more

Offering both counter seats and booths, a look at the kitchen showing much of the Food mere assemblage, arrival before 11am sees Egg Sandwiches take center stage with fluffy Eggs folded neatly on a soft seeded-Kaiser Roll with a choice of Meats, Mayo and Ketchup. Priced akin to other Los Angeles Breakfasts, think $14 Sandwiches and $7 Pastries, Bub and Grandma's Buttermilk Biscuit arrives plain with extra cost for Butter or Jam largely unnecessary as the quality is excellent with substantial textural variance from bite-to-bite. Pleasantly surprised by Bub and Grandma's! I've had this spot saved for a while now and finally got the chance to try it. The food is amazing. I tried the Filet of Fish Sandwich. I was in between that or their burger; I had let our waitress decide for me as she said both of them were good and I wanted to be surprised. Hands down , the best fish sandwich I've ever had. A simple combination of ingredients made this sandwich so good. I loved the tartar sauce and freshness of the fish itself. The bun was amazing as well and really tied everything together. Service was great! Our waitress was very kind and welcoming. Gave us time to look over the menu and like I said before , surprised me with a great meal. Ambiance is really cool. The whole place was clean and gave me a modern-retro diner vibe. Plenty of seating inside with some outside. They also have live music playing which is such a great touch. It definitely feels like a classic diner with tons of natural lighting. Overall, the meal was like an elevated picnic meal. Sure, you can probably make this all at home but Bub's just does it better. Better bread, fresh ingredients and good portions. We tried the tuna sandwich, roast beef au jus and brisket. We also got a side of shredded carrots and beets, potato salad and potato chips with their gouda dip. Don't skip the gouda dip. Good food, excellent baked good and great service. I've been stopping by this spot every time I am near Glassell and let me say it's consistently delicious. The portions are on the smaller side but the food is well prepared, presented well and has balanced flavors. It's a bright an airy deli style place that is kind of trendy. The parking situation is terrible so bring your patience. I've had the Muffalta sandwich, the roast beef àu jus and two of the bowls now and they are all so good. Went for dinner on a recent Sunday evening. There was live jazz which made the place very lively. We were seated right in front of the band, which was cool but pretty loud. I've been here for breakfast and lunch and was curious to check out the dinner scene. Bub's Bread with Patty's Butter & Anchovies High quality sourdough bread with a generous amount of anchovies and butter. I had never had anchovies before and didn't realize how salty they were. Otherwise enjoyed the bread and butter. Roasted Butternut Squash with dates, chives, lime, duqqa This might be the most flavorful butternut squash I've ever had. The seasonings were unique and complementary. Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls with bulgur, sauerkraut, kidney beans, dill Nice flavor and balance of ingredients. Romesco Chicken - half jidori chicken with romesco sauce Initially I didn't think this sounded interesting, but it was very good. The chicken was high quality and had a lightly crispy skin. Hands down, the BREAD lives up to the hype. Seriously, the bread makes the sandwiches here. The kaiser, challah, and focaccia breads are all delish. You can taste the freshness when your teeth sink into each bite. On top of the selection of freshly baked breads, I'm a fan of their RAINBOW Sandwich when I'm on my veggie kicks. It's got sprouts, avocado, curried tofu, and pickled vegetables. I'm an even bigger fan of their HOT MEATLOAF on Challah bread. The description made me skeptical at first--with ingredients like orange pomegranate glaze, buttermilk fennel salad, sweet pickles, and a potato chip shake. It seemed to be a sandwich created by accident while puffing on too much Pineapple Express. Maybe so. But hey, it was so dang good! When I actually dug into it, I was quite pleased with this beef & pork meatloaf recipe. As for sides, their potato salad is simple yet the egg, celery, and creamy dressing do the trick. The CURRIED CHICKEN SALAD is my next go-to when I'm not feeling as gluttonous. The curried chicken breast is tender and it has a good mix of dill, almonds, lettuce, mandarins, celery, and cucumber. For drinks, you can order freshly brewed coffees and brews from Solarc or Highland Park Breweries. Personally, I like the retro/throwback, non-alcoholic drinks with this type of diner food. There's Dr. Brown's Cherry soda (my fave), Martinelli's Apple Juice (in the apple bottle), Cock & Bull Ginger Ale, and Dad's Root Beer. Fresh squeezed OJ and Lemonade from Rick's Produce is a splurge, but it's liquid Vitamin C and you're supporting a small-batch California farmer. Glassellland has gotten a bit more popular since Bub & Grandma's moved into our neighborhood. News has gotten out about the tasty breads and all the hip kids in town hang out here, so it's best to expect some kind of wait here. The vibe is always busy. Yet no matter when I've gone, I've been lucky enough to somehow bypass the long wait times, but watch the diner fill up by the time I leave. I have been meaning to write this since I tried this spot with my cousin and I thoroughly enjoyed the tomato soup and grilled cheese. The bread was croissant and it was gooey cheese. Anyways, I stopped by for some morning treats before work and I am so happy I did. They were so soft and flavorful. I ended up getting the cinnamon roll, which has the perfect amount of frosting. It was cream cheese flavored and just the right amount. The cinnamon donut had the right amount of sugar and cinnamon and was soft. The pumpkin pie donut had the right amount of filling and not too sweet. I was telling my cousin to stop here next time for the baked items. The service is so friendly and it looks like a diner. I happened to be in town and my friend suggested grabbing lunch here. It's a cute little place near Los Feliz with a really warm ambience. As far as the food goes, both of our sandwiches were tasty and came out hot and within a decent amount of time. Now, LA can be notoriously pricey and while Bub and Grandma's isn't the cheapest option, it definitely blows something like Jersey Mike's out of the order which, in today's economy, is basically the same price. Service wise, the day we had lunch was pretty quiet and a touch slow, but the staff wasn't phoning it in and were attentive to our needs. Overall just okay. I really wanted to like bub & grandmas tuna melt since would save me the drive to Langers every time I'm craving a decent one. Unfortunately the sandwich is more soggy although there are some unique touches such as the crispy cheese bits, they're not enough to rectify whatever was going on there. I posted a good review of B&G's breakfast fare. But today I went for lunch with friends and it was so very good. We started with the pickle plate. Two kinds of cucumber pickles and pickled tomatoes. Yum. I got a BLT with avocado which was great on toasted B&G bread of course. My friends got a curry chicken sandwich and a meatloaf sandwich. Both were reportedly also great and they looked good too (see pics). We ended by ordering a slice of carrot cake that was just perfection and a raspberry donut which I didn't try but I'm pretty sure it was also fantastic. A couple tasty Cold brew iced coffees to go and we were out of there. This place just can't miss. I miss the matzo ball soup but you can't have everything I guess. I received a text saying my order was ready for pickup, but when I arrived, I was told to wait in a 15-minute line behind customers placing new orders. I asked the employee at the front if I really needed to wait in that line, and she said yes. Meanwhile, DoorDash drivers were walking in and going straight to the front without waiting. I asked again for clarification and was told it was "better to stay in line." This didn't make sense, my food was already ready and sitting there while others were clearly not following the same process. Bub and Grandma's is very popular right now, and the wait shows it. We waited about 30 to 40 minutes on a Friday afternoon, then got seated in a booth. The inside has strong vintage diner vibes, which was nice. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich and that was the best part of the meal. The chips inside added great texture, and it was recommended by the staff for a reason. I also tried the brisket sandwich, which was a bit bland and could have used more seasoning, though it was still fine. We tried their pie since it is what they are known for. They only make one type per day, and that day was key lime. It was okay. The filling was very thick, the whipped cream was also thick and paired well with it, but the crust was forgettable. I can't tell you how many friends have recommended Bub and Grandma's so I finally found myself in the area and decided to check it out. I was familiar with their bread which several delis and restaurants use. But I'd never eaten at their location. We were quickly seated and began to peruse the menu. Our server, while polite, didn't seem like she wanted to be there. When asked what she recommended, she grumbled through a few things, obviously not really interested in truly helping us. So we asked for a couple of minutes and decided to order a couple of sandwiches and a couple of sides. We chose the Brisket Sandwich and the Curried Chicken Sandwich along with sides of Shredded Carrots & Beets and Marinated olives and Almonds. They were delicious. The Brisket was our favorite, hands down. It was lovely sliced brisket topped with arugula, red onion and a killer apple mostarda served on a sub roll. The chicken salad was quite flavorful as it was mixed with almonds, mandarin orange pieces, celery, cucumber and dill on seeded bread. The sides were quite interesting. The carrots and beets were shredded and tossed in a lemon dressing and topped with chives. The olives were a nice mix of types and mixed with orange peel, olive oil, pepper relish, celery and crunch Marcona almonds. The portions were quite filling. All in all, we enjoyed our meal. Sadly, the service was two thumbs down thus the 3 stars. She only came by our table to check on us one time. When we wanted the check, I had to go find her. But on the way out, we decided to grab some pastries. The person behind the counter was upbeat and cheerful, and she helped us pick the right mix of pastries to take home. Was recommended Bub and Grandma's by the sandwich king himself, Owen Han, after meeting him at a book signing, so naturally, I had to go STAT. We made our way over after a 14 mile bike ride along the LA River aka had a voracious appetite. We arrived shortly after 2p and were seated soon thereafter. The restaurant seemed to be clearing out as they close at 3p. We ordered and shared a roast beef sandwich and curried chicken sandwich. Take home goodies included carrot cake, chocolate chip cookie, and a croissant. (Hack: all baked goods and breads are 15% off between 2p-3p). Both sandwiches were very different in flavor profile and both very good; the roast beef had a unique wasabi aioli that stood out and the curried chicken had a nice variation in textures. Bub and Grandma's sources out their bread to a lot of LA joints and it's always so good. I love their Curry Chicken Sandwich, classic Italian, even Vegetarian options when I'm not feeling so meaty. Their breakfast sandwich is also AMAZING. I had low expectations for a regular cafe breakfast egg sandwich, but theirs is divine. The eggs are so perfectly fluffy and the bread is great. Their sauces and proportions are perfection. They do sandwiches right here, which is why I'm giving them a positive review for delivering the best of what you're looking for in a sandwich. I've dined here and taken out, and the experience inside is great as well. Servers are friendly and take your order well. Long wait times at busy lunch times can be expected, especially on the weekend (20-30 min or so). They've got a small curbside area to hang around, but it's Los Angeles, so it's nothing we ain't used to. Iced lattes and coffees are great to pair with a fresh pastry or almond cake which I love. We pulled up just in time to beat the rush to this Pasadena gem. A friend told me they had visited the other location and bought bread. This location has coffee, donuts, salads and other goodies. There is indoor seating in a small intimate space. Outdoors is brightly sun lit with a couple tables and a number of chairs/stools. I bought a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on a seeded soft English muffin. My buddy got a small lemon and blueberry scone. It was also freshly baked and had (I'm told) great lemony blueberry flavor. It was crunchy on the outside and very flavorful inside. I need to come back for their freshly baked breads... There's no parking in front so you'll have to go into the neighborhood and you'll find some at the end of the block. Food: Everything we got was okay - standard sandwiches. Not a must-try by any means. Brisket was dry and chewy..and Italian sandwich was about Costco quality. The best part was the bread and grilled cheese with tomato soup. The meal is heavy and it comes with a heavy price for what you get. To my understanding, there's no specially sourced ingredients, methods, etc. The atmosphere is classy and service standard as well. Tried the Italian and the curry chicken salad! The Italian was 10/10, so flavorful, classic, and the bread was so soft and fresh! The bread on the curry chicken salad was also amazing. I'd say the bread brings the sandwich to its well deserved ratings. Curry chicken salad was more mild in flavor but very fresh tasting. Both solid choices. I would definitely return! The interior is so cute, very trendy diner vibes. Seems like a great place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The service is welcoming, attentive, and kind.
