Some of the best ice cream in the city They are open all year round so it's never too cold for some. They have so many flavors and they make all types of ice cream goodness. All their prices listed on the board all include tax so you know exactly what you're paying. I love that they have the option to get quarts to go. I filled mine up with my favorite black raspberry and now I'm set for a while. It was less than $10 too. It's pretty small inside but it's on a street with a ton of shops so if it's nice, taking a walk down the road would be a great way to enjoy your treat. Then my daughter bought a cake for my birthday , it was so good! Their cake aren't like DQ or a bakery it's something different for a change. For my son's 21st birthday party I wanted foods from his childhood. My husband and I searched everywhere for Superman ice cream. Not only did Scoops have it but they made the best decorated birthday cake with it! They were so accommodating, too. My son was amazed and thrilled. Everybody was happy with the flavors! Brookline History Note: This used to be Boulevard Ice Cream until very recently. Many years before that it was a Baskin Robbins. Ok, so after our nice Italian meal at Mateo's, I felt like ice cream. Ashamedly I hadn't been here in a while and was surprised to find that it changed hands again. I HAD to have a hot fudge sundae. So I got one. With chocolate marshmallow and butter pecan. Whipped cream, nuts, no cherry. Ooomph. It hit the spot. When I was a little kid, I used to scoop out the hot fudge and eat it first. I haven't grown out of that. :D My date got a Cotton Candy ice cream double scoop cone. Man, they make ice cream out of anything don't they? It was amazing. Loved it. They have fresh made waffle cones too! It's the first scent that hits your nose when you walk in. Note: They're remodeling, so don't be put off by how modest it is inside. It should only get better. Nice service too. The guy running the joint looks and sounds as if he could be a mechanic or a remodeler, discussing ice cream like he's talking about carburetor's or putting up drywall. Only in Pittsburgh. Love it. Get your ice cream here instead of at the market. I saw people walking out with fresh scooped pints, so they will do that for you. Another Pittsburgh Classic and a staple of my childhood! I have been going there since I was very young. One of my earliest childhood memories is going to this place on really hot summer days and being held up because I couldn't see over the case to see the ice cream displays. The owners are a fantastic husband/wife duo that rib each other, joke with the customers and are always great for a chat when you stop in. They have a ton of different flavors of hard ice cream, lots of toppings and freshly made waffle cones. They also have drinks, ice cream cakes and a slushie machine. This is one of my favorite neighborhood ice cream places. We are within walking distance and it has a great location right on Brookline Boulevard. I wish they made their own ice cream (they use Hershey's ice cream) but the wide array of flavors certainly makes up for this. My go to is the salted caramel which is the perfect mixture of sweet and savory. They also have a tasty birthday cake and many chocolate options including mint moose tracks. I have to mention their homemade birthday cakes which are cakes with a layer of your choice of ice cream. My only compliant is that the actual cake gets stale pretty quickly. If you are not an ice cream fan they have lots of sorbet flavors. Seating inside is limited to a few tables but they do have some benches outside on the street. Prices are better than Dave and Andy's and walking it makes you feel like you've stepped back into the early 70's or even 60's.
