If you love matcha I think you will like this cozy spot in Squirrel Hill. You can choose your level of matcha, level five being the strongest. They also offer weekly rotating soft serve flavors and matcha ice cream you can have at different levels of matcha as well. The indoor and outdoor seating is fine and I appreciate the public bathroom. My fave was the blueberry matcha latte but it's ube season now. My current favorite is the iced banana pudding matcha latte with coconut milk at level one.
New favorite Matcha spot. Stopped in for national matcha day, which they offered a $1 discount on their entire menu! Menu offerings were so vast, it took me a while to read through everything because it all sounded so good! They have a couple of rotating specials and different grades of matcha depending on caffeine levels and a weekly rotation of their soft serve. In addition to matcha lattes, they have shaved ice, soft serve floats, espresso + matcha combos, refreshers, and combos I never thought of but wanted to try. I love a yuzu drink so I tried their yuzu cool, a yuzu blended ice drink topped with their grade 1 matcha. It was amazing. The matcha quality was fantastic and you could really taste the difference. My friend tried one of spring menu offerings, a peach based latte and loved it. There's very limited seating inside so be aware. Street parking outside. I can't wait to return!!
unfortunately it was giving oxidized cheap matcha powder i got the level 3 too which was $2 extra so tell me why it was $9 for a normal matcha latte it did seem like they used a lot of powder tho just not quality powder it was really grainy and grassy. but my bf went here when they first opened and he said it used to be a lot better sooo maybe they had an off day? the hojicha was better but still not great.
I am obsessed with their soft serve vanilla ice cream. It is so rich in flavor and perfect in the summer sun. Very nice staff always.
I came on a weekend to get their soft serve. We got their ube x black sesame ice cream as their weekend special. The black sesame flavor was strong and present, but I think the ube flavor was lacking. The earl gray ice cream has a very strong floral aftertaste. Earl gray has that tea taste usually, but it was very overpowering. The jade fog latte was good as a matcha with a lavender cold form but for $8 as a matcha with cold foam is steep. There's only about 5 tables in the store, but sometimes some ppl come here to study. Street parking is free nearby.
Really enjoyed the parfait here, with a lot of great layers of red bean, jelly, cream, plus the cake and crushed ice cream cones really brought great texture! Sadly they had changed their weekend special from stronger matcha to coconut and Thai iced tea when I went. The flavors were good, but definitely not as strong as I would have liked. Personally I'll stick to the matcha soft serve, but still one the best spots around for any matcha treat!

I've also had their ice cream once - I always love matcha ice cream! It gets busy inside, but the staff are always really kind and fast. There are some tables to sit at, but they're usually full! They have some tables outside as well. This place is busy for a reason - it's some of the best matcha in town!
There is a cozy vibe inside and a couple picnic tables outside. The people who work there are super nice. You can get the matcha at different potency levels. The desserts aren't too sweet and are in fact very refreshing. I feel like this was among the first matcha places to open up in Pittsburgh!
Fantastic matcha with standout ice cream! I prefer their matcha level 2 over any I can find back in NYC-- it has a really smooth, rich matcha flavor. Their soft serves are great too and never icy. Service is very quick and they have a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. They also constantly rotate their menu and have several seasonal specials.

This was my first time having anything matcha related, so I'm certainly no expert, but I enjoyed both items I got from here. I got the house latte and matcha ice cream. The matcha ice cream you can get in levels, with varying amounts of caffeine and intensity. I just tried a level one, and it was still really tasty. Creamy ice cream, not overpowering but present matcha flavor. Really good, and a great portion. The house latte was also great. It had condensed milk for sweetness and whole milk for the creaminess. Was very solid although again, a bit pricey. If I go next time, I'll get another one of their more unique drinks like something with sesame or some of that soft serve.
Great matcha place! I got the affogato and asked for matcha ice cream instead of vanilla. The matcha ice cream was nice and sweet. The matcha was pretty bitter but paired nice with the ice cream. The portion was huge I did not expect it to be so large compared to the pictures. So many other ice cream flavors and drink options. Some seating inside as well as outside. It is a nice place to sit and do work, there are also bathrooms. Workers were nice as well!

I think this would be a great place to try matcha for the first time since they could get a lesser amount. Plus the quality is great here so it won't be "grassy" for new timers. Service is super friendly and quick. The place is super cute and small, just know that there is no AC if you go during peak summer.
I've been wanting to try here for a while, and finally got the chance! I absolutely love that you can custom your "level" of matcha. I got a level 2 - iced banana pudding matcha It was so good! Perfect flavor of matcha to sweetener ratio! We also got a level 2 iced strawberry oat matcha! The fresh strawberry puree was wonderful! Both were so good, I don't think I could pick a favorite! Definitely looking forward to going back! read more
I love how many options they have! They don't exclusively sell matcha drinks, but also ice cream and it didn't disappoint! I'm a huge fan of tea and I absolutely love their jasmine ice cream! It was a seasonal/limited menu item and it had the perfect jasmine flavor that wasn't also perfect in sweetness. I would definitely come back again just for this! I'll be thinking about this again whenever I crave jasmine milk tea because it was basically that in ice cream form! I also tried the refreshing sad dragon(?) it was a grape juice based drink with dragonfruit and matcha. It was average. I think I would definitely try another drink next time. read more

So goood!!!! I am obsessed with matcha. I tried the vanilla oat milk matcha and it is fantastic! Oat milk is very strong is flavor so you can definitely taste majority of that flavor. I can taste most of the matcha in the aftertaste of it. I think the flavors pair well together. I love coming by this store, it's petite and has a seating area for customers. There was a cute LED sign on the wall. The staff were friendly and they were not busy at the time I came in so it was easy to be in and out. I've never been before until today so I had to take in the whole menu to understand it. Overall a good experience! read more

If you're someone who is newish to matcha, this is the spot for you but if you're a matcha snob like myself, this isn't that great imo. I am so used to Matcha Cafe Maiko that is in Philly and San Francisco and it has the realest of the real for matcha. For starters, the parfait isn't that great and I don't understand the strawberry syrup and the matcha cake is most of the parfait than the ice cream. I felt like it was lacking and I would give it maybe a 2 star as a generous rating overall. The matcha is very light and the cake is more so vanilla based than matcha which is meh. It's also too sweet for my taste than spongey. I'm actually so disappointed in this and I wanted to try this one so badly. We ordered strawberry iced blended which my best friend said it was good and then my boyfriend ordered the strawberry matcha latte which is pretty good but it's not for me. I am also not a fan of strawberry besides actual strawberry fruit. I am very curious about the black sesame matcha and another flavor but I wouldn't be in a rush to come back here. I wish they were similar to the matcha maiko but it's Pittsburgh. We ordered off DoorDash so I'm not sure about the service but I know parking is ugly due to well the area. I wish you could make the latte and the parfait be a level 3 in matcha because I think they both really need that. For now, I am signing off with a 3 star review until I try the level 3 matcha and the sesame but I'm in no rush to be back as I want to try other matcha shops on in the area. I would say maybe a 4 star for non matcha or people who aren't really into matcha but want to try something different. For true matcha fans, this place is disappointing. read more

I was pretty excited for Meccha matcha to open but it didn't really live up to my expectations. The shaved ice looked nothing like the description at all. It was a lot smaller than expected and poorly made. The photo is exactly what it looked like when served. It also wasn't clear on the menu that different matcha levels of ice cream costs different prices, so we were surprised to see this averaged size and a bit ugly bowl of ice cream is $18.99. You can't even really see the shaved ice, and it didn't taste like shaved ice at all. It felt like very hard ice chips; can't really describe it but not the right texture for shaved ice. I did like the matcha ice cream a lot, but that's the only thing going for to, overall so not worth the price. If I ever was to come back, I would only get ice cream instead...The store was also quite small and hard to find seating. Not sure if it was the particular day, but it was super hot and humid inside the store and the tables felt sticky. read more

My friend and I split a Thai tea soft serve (delicious and very much Thai tea flavored) and their level 3 matcha ice cream which didn't taste as strong/bitter as i thought it would but I do consume a lot of matcha and caffeine in general at baseline. Service was quick and there were a bunch of outlets if anyone wanted to do work at this cafe. read more

Updating to add more photos of the parfait. The parfait is tasty, but I would recommend getting the shaved ice if you plan on sharing as it's definitely single-person sized and it comes with a lot of matcha flavored cake that doesn't actually taste much like matcha (it just makes it dense and sludgy at the bottom). The amount of ice cream you get seems sort of variable and it feels bad to pay almost $10 for level 3, only to get the equivalent of a kids scoop at Baskin Robins. read more
My fave matcha spot in PGH!! Love how the matcha levels are customizable depending on how strong you want the drink to taste. I've ordered couple drinks from them, and my favorite is the matcha almond black sesame latte (level 2)! Interior is cute with great vibes. Staff was happy to answer questions that I had about the menu. Parking can be tough, but it's definitely worth a visit! read more
I've been waiting so long for this place to open. I'm a tea lover all-around and dessertaholic, so the combo seemed immediately up my alley. The concept is incredibly unique and creative and the menu is lengthy -- making it hard to decide. I decided to just try the soft serve on my first visit here (which was for dessert, anyway). My twist of green tea (matcha) and strawberry soft serve was tasty. The matcha flavor wasn't overly strong, and they mixed well. I'll be glad to return to try many other offerings here. The prices here are a little high, but truth be told, I would rather support a local business like this at that level than Starbucks. (And they have cooler choices here anyway!). read more
Two of us stopped by on Saturday around 12:30pm and it was super busy! Luckily two people were leaving shortly after we got there and we were able to snag their table. They only have a handful of small tables inside and a couple of tables outside so I wouldn't bring a big group here. The inside was small but with some cute touches and decorations. Our lattes and parfait came out pretty quickly and were delicious! I would absolutely come back to try their other lattes and desserts. read more

I had my first visit here with a friend. We got different things and the orders came out fast. The staff was helpful decoding the options. I got a matcha chocolate chip cookie and an affogato with hojicha. We opted to eat inside at a cozy round table. The cookie was delicious. I liked the soft serve and the hojicha topping had a unique nutty taste I was not expecting. read more

I lived in Asia for several years, and I've been looking for a place in the US that serves similar matcha soft-serve desserts. Meccha is the first spot I've been to that felt similar to what I've had in Japan. While I was disappointed that they weren't serving the matcha ice cream level 2 and 3 while I was in town, I thought that the level 1 had a great amount of matcha (more than you get in most places in the US). They seem to be using a decent quality matcha as well. I had the match affogato but subbed matcha for vanilla ice cream as that is how it is usually served in Japan. The switch cost me about seventy-five cents, but it was worth it for the double dose of matcha. I'd love to try other things at Meccha, the Ube desserts looked especially interesting. Meccha Matcha located on Murray Avenue is truly a Matcha experience for everyone. Whether you are new to matcha, like me, first timer!!! Or a seasoned matcha connoisseur, Meccha Matcha has something for everyone. Their products range from ice cream, soft serve, lattes, teas and ice blends. You can order any product with "level" 1-3. The higher level the more potent and intense the matcha will be, but also the higher the caffeine will be. I love this concept so you can get used to the flavor and introduce more to your pallet! All their matcha is sources from Japan and 100% pure. The staff is amazing and so patient and friendly, especially for me as a newbie! They will take the time to explain the different levels of matcha to you. I got a strawberry matcha and I was so good. I went with a level 2 because I've had matcha before. In reality I should have gone with a 1 because the matcha I've had was very weak compared to it. I will go back again because I need to try the soft serve. read more

The matcha flavor was exquisite! I ordered the matcha level 2 soft serve and it was the perfect amount of bitter and sweet for me (I don't eat matcha very often but I loved this balance!) My friend also ordered the ube soft serve and it was just magnificent, it had the best balance of sweet and flavorful, tasted like fresh ube. The employee was very kind and helpful to us-- when we asked what flavor we wanted, he asked if we wanted to try some in a sample cup. Really appreciated his generosity! Great place to sit and eat matcha with friends, definitely recommend! read more

A delicious place for matcha lovers! This corner cafe has a smaller seating area, but a large menu of drink and soft serve creation options. The staff are friendly and quick to explain any new flavors to you. I had the 8-layer meccha matcha parfait and it did not disappoint. My favorite arts were actually the soft serve and the little crispy waffle pieces, but all of the layers were yummy. My brother had a float with the yuzu base and matcha level 1 soft serve. He said the yuzu was tart and refreshing. They have wifi and also unisex two bathrooms that were both clean! read more
