I have been becoming a bit matcha obsessed and when I happened upon this place I was very excited to stop in. The outside is colorful, bold and inviting and the inside is much the same. Lots of space and many people working on laptops. The people here are really nice and the menu has all the basics you'd expect but also some creative specials. I got the sakura strawberry shortcake iced matcha, which had a delicious cloud of cherry blossom pink cold foam and real crushed strawberries at the bottom. The matcha itself was clearly high-quality and delicious. Prices also reasonable compared to some places; I paid under $8 for this while it's a dollar or so more elsewhere for a less complex iced matcha latte. I can't wait to come back and next time will be trying the Matcha soft serve ice cream!! read more

Solid matcha spot! Walked over here while waiting for our table to be ready at a nearby restaurant. I ordered an iced matcha with banana bread cold foam and my friend got an iced strawberry matcha. Inside the store was cute and they had several other options that looked good too! I wasn't a huge fan of the banana cold foam on mine, but the matcha itself was good. First, I went to yelp to search for good matcha in Pittsburgh and honestly didn't realize there was a whole cafe dedicated to matcha... the options were endless. I headed right over as soon as I found this place. I tried the iced pumpkin pie matcha latte with a whipped topping and tasted just like the real thing but with a nice matcha twist. I love taking in all Pumpkin things this time of year, but don't always want something with coffee. The drink was perfectly spiced and had the right amount of sweetness to it. I love this space so much. It's spacious and mostly quiet, which makes it a great place to get work done. The chill background music helps me focus on what I need to do on my laptop and phone. The Tea House never gets busy, and most people don't come in to sit and work or study. I wish I were a matcha connoisseur, so I could give more technical feedback. But the matcha latte here is delicious. It's the best I've had in Pittsburgh. As for the service, the barista is quiet, which I like, and makes excellent matcha. I do wish the Tea House was open every day, but they're only open certain days a week for limited hours. That's fine though, because otherwise I'd probably spend all my money here. read more

DRINKS Maple Matcha Latte - this is one of the seasonal fall drinks with sweetened with syrup. I got mine hot. There's some cinnamon on top that gives a nice fall vibe to the drink. Even though the matcha is hot, it's not burnt which I find many other places struggle with - not this one. Matcha is whisked well and no clumps. Summit Matcha Latte with Oat Milk - I got this with no sweetener, and it's also a very solid drink! Matcha is also well mixed and great quality drink! VIBES Vibes are great! They have nice soft music as well as some bench seating and high table seating. There are some outlets in the places, pretty clean. Very cute interior with plants and very green feel to it. SERVICE Service is great! I asked for recommendations and the person helped me choose a really yummy drink based on my preference of creamy and sweeter drinks. Drinks came out pretty fast too! I originally was just going to get an iced matcha latte but the gentleman behind the counter said to try the Strawberry Matcha instead. I do love strawberry so I was excited. The drink that I received didn't taste or look like the "homemade strawberry syrup " as advertised. I inquired again to the gentleman who made my drink thinking he forgot it and when I asked he said just yes and put his earbuds back in. So I just left. I found Mikkusu last year, and been a fan of them since. I'm not a matcha powder expert, but what I can tell you is that the beverages are whisked well, with no clumps and perfect sweetness. I usually get an iced matcha latte, and always opt in for a matcha strawberry sugar cookie. I have a severe nut allergy and have not had any issues with cross contamination, even though they do have a nut forward menu (as their ice cream flavors are made with nut milk). They also have an amazing section for matcha supplies. Everything you'd need for a matcha bar can be found in store. I find it really hard to find a quality, authentic matcha bowl anywhere (even as someone from L.A.), but I found my beloved bowl here. read more

Really cute matcha spot right in Lawrenceville! They have a lot of great matcha treats and drinks available. Love that you can get a matcha latte float with soft serve. Their rose matcha latte was pretty good. The matcha latte float was decent! I thought the soft serve was kind of a wee bit watery but it could be because I let it sit in the latte for a little bit. They have really cute seating inside and I think it'd be a great place to chill and do some work. They also have a lot of matcha and related stuff for sale like matcha making whisks and bowls. So, I just got back to Pittsburgh after a week in San Francisco. The highlight of my trip there was the Japan Town & the Matcha shop that served soft serve matcha ice cream. I was very sad thinking I'd never get to enjoy matcha soft serve for a really long time. I even considered buying my own ice cream machine to make it myself .. so needless to say, thank goodness I found this place. The soft serve is light creamy and wonderful.. it's non dairy which is a bonus too! I got it twisted with vanilla. I also ordered an energy matcha it is mixed with some other teas for an extra kick. I also purchased my own matcha to take home with me. Matcha is so good for you! It has healing properties, it's great for your skin! I love the focused non jittering energy it gives me. So it's worth it to me to find a quality product. A quality matcha should be bright green and have a smooth taste. They definitely deliver here. The summit matcha they offer is ceremonial grade. The leaves are imported from Japan and the are ground in the store. Doesn't get much fresher! Look at the photo you can see the differ between the organic one I bought at Giant eagle $20 and the Summit one from here $35. I thought the price was super reasonable for how high quality it is. read more
