Very cool spot for boba, sweet drinks, and other kinds of treats. I got to try their paw shaped egg cakes with Nutella inside, as well as an egg tart. Both were quite good! They have many different flavors you could go with, including typical ones like chocolate, peanut butter, or custard, to more interesting flavors like cheese and red bean. The Nutella one was stuffed quite well and the portion was solid for the price. The dough itself was a tiny bit spongey, and the outside was crispy. These are nice to share! The egg tart was pretty solid as well. Fairly sweet, but not excessively so. Okay portion for the price. Also not bad! All in all, a nice spot for sweet treats. I'd come back again! read more

Been back a couple of times to Tapilabs and have always been super satisfied with my drinks and food! It was snowing this week so I grabbed a toasted brown sugar milk boba (warm) and it was delicious - the creme brûlées torched bits were amazing in the drink plus it warmed me up! I tried Tapilab after finding out about this business on Yelp. I placed an order online and it was ready about 10-15 min later. The location is right on Fifth Ave in Oakland. If you are driving, you'll have to park on a side street. I ordered the mango green tea and added peach popping boba. I also ordered two kinds of Taiwanese Egg Cakes because they were just so cute! I ordered the bear shape egg cakes and the paw shape (and added Oreo filling). I've never had an egg cake before so I wasn't sure what to expect. They are light and fluffy and not overly sweet, which is nice. They were seriously so cute too. When I went to pick up, I just told them my name and they had my order ready. The space itself is colorful and airy. It was not busy when I went in. I'm happy I found out about this place and will definitely be back again! read more

New boba spot in Oakland that's conveniently located near a bunch of bus stops! They have a lot of options to pick from, and I tried their brown sugar milk tea with 50% sugar. You can customize the tea base to include earl gray, jasmine, or four seasons oolong tea. My earl gray tea flavor was not very strong but the boba itself was soft and chewy. They have a lot of indoor seating available. Staff were super friendly and sweet. Definitely recommend trying out this shop if you're in the area! read more

Relatively new boba spot in Oakland. It was conveniently located next to my fav noodle soup spot. My friends and I decided to stop in for some desserts. Their egg cake is a must get. There are two options: Bear or Paw (with filling of your choice) my personal favorite is with the vanilla custard. We also tried their boba and saw that they make their own. I was very eager to check out Tapilab & was not disappointed! A friend and I visited recently and took advantage of the spacious seating area in the shop. It's very nicely decorated, clean & a relaxing atmosphere. I think the people working that day are the owners? In any case they were super nice and made everything to perfection. We both tried a ton while there & ended up ordering items to take home as well. Between the two of us, we tried the following - 400 Meets Brown Sugar Tapi - my first time trying dalgona coffee along with their in-house made boba - amazing! Tiramisu - best I've ever had - until I tried the strawberry... Strawberry Tiramisu - an excellent combo of flavors! Egg Cakes - the Bear shaped ones - A MUST TRY - they come out freshly made & warm & are so delicious even plain like we got them. Planning on trying the stuffed versions next time. Egg Tart - we just got one, but it came out warm and freshly made as well - small but packs a huge punch of flavor and texture. I could have eaten like 20 more lol Plain Basque Cheesecake as well as the Coffee Basque Cheesecake - both varieties were creamy & I loved the crustless Basque style, which we had never had before. I wish I lived closer to Tapilab, I'd be there almost everyday! Can't wait to visit it again, they also have some Gacha machines, which I love to see. I found the pricing on their boba to be very reasonable - all of the drinks seem to average $5-7 & all come in the same large-sized cup. I know I've gotten much smaller boba other places for like twice the price and no where near the quality. The pastry vary in price, but we found that the quality of the items we tried were well worth every penny. If you're in Oakland and like Boba and excellent pastries, do NOT miss the chance to visit this lovely shop! read more
