Taro milk tea is my favorite and I have been to tsaocca more times that I can count because it is simply the best! Lots of fresh taro, perfectly textured, and sweet boba. I sometimes try other flavors and while they never disappoint, the taro reigns supreme best boba I've seriously ever had
Couldn't leave Pittsburgh without making my weekly boba run, so I decided to try the supposedly best boba spot in Pittsburgh. Iced Strawberry Green Tea W. Milk Foam & Lychee Jelly: - The icy was good until it melted and then it just tasted like I was drinking straight up strawberry syrup - Syrup tasted too tasted artificial...wish they used real strawberries - First time having milk foam & I didn't like it...if I got this drink again, I wouldn't get the milk foam with it Peach Milk Oolong Tea with Boba: - Tea taste was decently strong, but wasn't a fan of the overall peach taste
This restaurant has no chairs inside. I can only find ordering kiosks and people standing around waiting for their drinks. What's the name of this restaurant is confusing. Sign says Tsaocaa but ordering kiosks says Tsao-cha. Okay. Whatever it is. In Chinese, we call it 朝茶 so it is. I always get here at night. I couldn't drink tea because of caffeine. So, I ordered yogurt with fruit topping and pearls. Pineapple is my favorite. Yogurt was creamy and smooth. I asked for 30% sugar. The drink was sweetness from the chopped pineapple chunks.
Super spoiled being from CA where boba is everywhere so was very glad to know there's a good boba spot in Pitts! There were self-order kiosks and the menu is plentiful. Don't remember exactly what it was called but I got melon fruit tea with nata jelly and melon bits. I got it at 100% and it was good and refreshing! I got a sip of my friend's lychee fruit tea with milk foam and it was super yummy (I think I like her's a bit more). I also tried the peach milk tea and it was good too! It was a small shop with a lot of staff ready to make your drinks. There were snacks on the menu (no popcorn chicken though) and there wasn't a lot of seating. There were space in the store which is being used as storage so hopefully they can clear that and add more seating. Comparing to CA spots, this measured up really well. Definitely recommend making a stop!
My daughter loves this place. Decided to give it a try for myself. Self service kiosks are a available here to place your order. They have milk and flavored teas and various boba options along with cookies. You can add whip, sugar percentage you'd like and more. Lids on some drinks are sealed to poke your straw through which I love when you are on the go. This place was very busy. Street parking. I ordered a milk tea drink no boba with whip from their specialty menu. It was not bad. Would come back and try others. Pricing comparable to coffee shops.
Best taste for the price around Squirrel Hill. They're busy, so ordering online can save you time on weekends. Service pace is decent though, since there are a bunch of workers. There's no indoor seating and very limited outdoor seating, so it's definitely a grab and go situation. The tapioca balls never disappoint, as they're always chewy, moderately sweet, and not soggy/overcooked. Their milk teas don't come crazy sweet even at 100%. Blueberry Yogurt w/Crystal Boba: only comes in the small size. I've tried this entire series and they all taste like yogurt. If you're not a fan of that sour yogurt taste, I don't recommend it as it's not particularly sweet. Uji Matcha: comes with cheese foam. Honestly one of the best matcha drinks I've had in Pittsburgh. Nice and earthy, doesn't taste like a matcha-milk powder mix. Cheese foam is a nice complement, but I wish they offered it plain (you can get it without the foam, but you're still paying the full price) Taro Milk Green Tea w/Bubble: delicious, but the tea tends to be pretty weak and the amount of tarp you get varies a lot on the worker Purple Potato Milk Tea w/Bubble: comes with so much purple rice that it feels like a meal and I'm not a fan. I've only had it twice, but both times barely had any purée and too much rice
tsaocaa is great i have no complaints my go to boba spot in pittsburgh. cannot speak for any other drinks but the pineapple passionfruit with jelly is actually the best drink i've had in pittsburgh. no seating but it's whatev i usually just grab and go
i moved from california (which has a lot of great boba spots) and i could say this is one of the best few boba spots in pgh! my friends and i came during a busy sunday night so the place was poppin but the service was quick. the pearls were soft and freshly made which i appreciated because the texture and quality of pearls in a milk tea drink definitely changes the experience. if you like a super sweet and milky drink, brown sugar bubble milk is a must-try!
This is a must-stop when in Squirrel Hill. We tend to often get the brown sugar milk bubble or the brown sugar milk black tea. I am excited to try the fruit teas on future visits! This most recent visit, we also got the red velvet egg waffle and the macarons. Highly recommend both of these. The egg waffle is served warm in a bag. The macarons were as expected, light and tasty. We tried the pistachio, red velvet, blueberry lavender, and hazelnut macarons. I suggest ordering online so you can fully explore their menu. They also have in-store ordering options on an iPad or a station to order face-to-face with staff. The only thing I don't quite understand and probably should ask to clarify - they have an option for percent of sugar when ordering. The question is, is this added sugar? Or less sugar if you order, say, 30%? Regardless, we usually select a safe 30% and it's a delightful amount of sweetness.
Highly recommend the HK egg waffle. The batter brings back childhood memories of HK in the 80's and is one of the best I've had in the states. The temperature is hot and fresh. They could use a little less batter to create slightly crispier gai dan chai but good enough for Pittsburgh. The service was fine, not much of it since it's all ordered via a large screen on the wall. No inside seats either. You can't customize drinks like you do at a Starbucks with a barista. For example, you can't order a beverage without the "bubbles", there's no option for you to remove ingredients, only the ability to add ingredients. This creates operational efficiencies but lacks true customization.
Craved boba in Pittsburgh and found this gem! Tried their signature drinks: - Brown Sugar Milk Black Tea with Bubbles: Good, but not wow (4/5). Ordered 100% sugar, but still found it slightly less sweet than expected. Had better-tasting ones elsewhere. - Brown Sugar Milk Black Tea with Oreo, Milk Foam, and Bubbles: Sweetness just right for my kid - 5/5! Also, devoured two amazing macarons: - Blueberry Lavender - Rose Hands down, BEST MACARONS EVER! Unique, distinct flavors - a must-try! Note: Service was a bit slow due to the crowd (even on a weekday evening!), but it's clear this spot is popular! Ambiance was cute, but surprisingly, there were no chairs inside - unsure if dine-in is even an option. We opted for takeout, which worked out fine. Worth the wait! read more

Love it here. Is it possible to give more than five stars? I've been wanting to come here for a really long time. During the height of the pandemic I couldn't bring myself to leave the house because of the baby and I also couldn't bring myself to order door dash for a $5 tea. But now that I'm feeling more comfortable I was so excited to try this place. I will say that every time that I've been here I have had to wait a little bit. It's not a big deal but just know that it's so good that people will be ordering and you will be waiting. They have a computer off to the side so you don't even have to talk to someone to put your order in. So it makes the line go a little bit faster since there's two lines instead of the one. The menu is pretty easy to understand. They have A snowflake for slushies and tell you which ones have set ice levels and set sugar level. There's no way for you to be confused over what you're getting. I really enjoy that part of the menu. I usually go for something normal but this time I decided to go for a slushie. It was really hot and I wanted something to cool me off and my throat. And it was delicious. I don't usually like a lot of sugar so it was really happy to report that the zero sugar level with the boba was still a little bit sweet so I was very happy that I didn't overly sweeten my drink by adding extra sugar. Just keep in mind that boba is sometimes sweetened when it's made and that can make you want to adjust how sweet you get the drink. I would definitely come here again and I will. And if anybody ever wants to go I'll meet you there. read more

I ordered online thinking that I would come here and immediately pick it up, but even after getting here, I waited for 15 minutes. For a drink, that's a long time but honestly, it was worth it. Being from the Bay Area I was struggling to find a place for good boba. Tsaocaa is it! Brown Sugar Bubble Milk- The boba was delicious, perfectly chewy. The drink itself was too sweet even getting it at 50% sweetness, I probably would recommend getting it at 0% sweetness because the sugar from the brown sugar is enough. It tasted authentic! Would get again 10/10. Overall, I would give this place a 5 star but the service wasn't great. I would definitely come here again though! read more

ordering was easy and fast, with friendly staff and a clean environment! lots of natural light and solid boba tea with a very close distance for college students. i ordered the passion fruit pineapple tea with jelly, which was very good and fruity, though even at 70% sweetness it was still a little sweet for my taste. price was very reasonable for boba at a downtown area! read more

Tsaocaa comes highly recommended via the Pittsburgh sub-Reddit. Given that there's a plethora of boba tea places in Oakland/Squirrel Hill, I was confident that Reddit did not steer me wrong, and I was right - my boba tea was delicious! I found out that the majority of the milk tea is lactose-free. This is not listed on their menu but when I called they were able to steer me in the right direction. I got a oolong bubble tea that was 30% sweet. The boba itself was sweet as well so I'm glad I went low on the additional sugar. My partner got a brown sugar bubble milk tea and said it was perfectly balanced, rich and creamy. We will definitely go back. I highly recommend ordering ahead of time and picking it up. read more

I'm a big fan of bubble tea and I always try to find a go-to spot in every city I visit. Needless to say Tsaocaa is my new go-to spot in Pittsburgh. They offer a large variety of drinks, flavors, and macaroons at affordable prices. Not only are the drinks and pastries delicious but their location is clean, their service is prompt, and their staff is helpful and friendly. They have an option to self order at the kiosk, order online, or order with a staff member. Given that this was my first time visiting, I felt comfortable asking staff for recommendations and was provided with great insight. This location is a must if you're looking for delicious bubble tea in the Squirrel Hill area. This location is located on a busy road and it is pay to park. read more

Stopped in here again for a drink and it's just as delicious. I walked in and placed my order on their touch screens and my drink was ready about 5 min later. I love this place and will stop in again the next time I'm in Squirrel Hill! read more
university nostalgia food tour ~ i always get the ruby tea with milk foam and boba; you can never go wrong with the original! i recently tried the winter special, which is the ceylon black tea latte (hot) with whipped cream and pecan bits. the flavor is nutty and warming, perfect for the rainy weather :) note that the wait is often quite long but i just take that time to chat with whoever i'm with. read more

3.5 - 4 stars. Very okay. Better than the other boba places in Pittsburgh, but very average by my LA standard. I actually came here right when they opened in 2020 (posting a receipt pic for proof!) Their A/C was broken (it was super hot and humid inside!) and the drinks were average. It was pretty miserable in the hot/humid store, I was tempted to leave a review which would have been terrible. But I didn't leave a review back then because they were still in the soft opening phase so it would have been unfair to judge this business. Anyway... A friend at CMU claimed this is the best boba in town so we gave this place another try. We got different drinks this time around because the drinks we got in 2020 were very okay. Peach oolong milk tea was good, but their grapefruit and peach green tea was super sweet even at 50% Felt like they added 50% more sugar in my drink because that is how sweet it was! I can see how this place is considered good in Pittsburgh, but if you are from major cities/or Asia, this place is very okay. read more
This place makes delicious authentic milk and fruit tea drinks! The menu is extensive and very customizable. I prefer to use the self-pay stations because I am an introvert and find it less overwhelming to be able to look through the menu. I do recommend looking at the menu ahead of time tho because there are so many options. Sometimes the lines are long so knowing what you want ahead of time is courteous so you can order quickly. Their fruit teas are delicious and refreshing especially on hot summer days. And their bubble ingredients are so so good. It's been so long since I've had real grass jelly or red bean toppings but this place does it so well! Their milk teas are also delicious. I've only gotten the cold options but I have no doubt they are good hot too. Will certainly continue to come back to try out different things on the menu :) read more

I'm not normally a person who drinks my calories, but when I received a gift card to this place, I just knew from the pics of the drinks that I had to try it. We ordered the Peach Milk Oolong Tea with extra peach boba and the Coconut Blue with Snow Top and Bubbles and Mini Macaron. Both drinks were so delicious, and the Coconut Blue was gorgeous. I also loved the surprise of a mini macaron making its way up the straw! We also tried a birthday cake macaron and a raspberry one. They were delicious as well. The service was very fast, and they helped us to navigate the menu since it was our first time there. read more
