Had to flip the menu to read Chinese to make sure I ordered right stuff - The image displays a digital menu screen at Tsaocaa, a bubble tea shop, showing a pineapple-flavored drink with toppings and add-ons. The menu includes options for extra ingredients such as brown sugar, pearls, coconut, grass jelly, and fruit, with prices listed in USD. The interface is in Chinese and English, with options to adjust quantity and add items to the cart.

This restaurant has no chairs inside. I can only find ordering kiosks and people standing around waiting for their drinks. What's the name of this restaurant is confusing. Sign says Tsaocaa but ordering kiosks says Tsao-cha. Okay. Whatever it is. In Chinese, we call it 朝茶 so it is. I always get here at night. I couldn't drink tea because of caffeine. So, I ordered yogurt with fruit topping and pearls. Pineapple is my favorite. Yogurt was creamy and smooth. I asked for 30% sugar. The drink was sweetness from the chopped pineapple chunks.

Japanese Melon Green Tea W. Nata Jelly - A person holds a large, clear plastic cup filled with green tea and diced fruit, with a white lid and straw. The cup features a cartoon logo of a person drinking with the text 'TSAOCAA' and Chinese characters. The background shows part of a vehicle interior and a parking lot outside, indicating the drink is being enjoyed in a car or near a parking area.

Super spoiled being from CA where boba is everywhere so was very glad to know there's a good boba spot in Pitts! There were self-order kiosks and the menu is plentiful. Don't remember exactly what it was called but I got melon fruit tea with nata jelly and melon bits. I got it at 100% and it was good and refreshing! I got a sip of my friend's lychee fruit tea with milk foam and it was super yummy (I think I like her's a bit more). I also tried the peach milk tea and it was good too! It was a small shop with a lot of staff ready to make your drinks. There were snacks on the menu (no popcorn chicken though) and there wasn't a lot of seating. There were space in the store which is being used as storage so hopefully they can clear that and add more seating. Comparing to CA spots, this measured up really well. Definitely recommend making a stop!

Peach Milk Oolong Tea with Boba (left), Iced Strawberry Green Tea W. Milk Foam & Lychee Jelly (right) - Two bubble tea beverages are held in front of a wall displaying the Tsaocaa logo. The left drink is a creamy beige color with black tapioca pearls at the bottom, while the right drink has a layered appearance with pink and white sections. Both drinks are in clear cups with the Tsaocaa logo and are topped with plastic lids. The background features the Tsaocaa sign in large, beige letters on a white wall.

Couldn't leave Pittsburgh without making my weekly boba run, so I decided to try the supposedly best boba spot in Pittsburgh. Iced Strawberry Green Tea W. Milk Foam & Lychee Jelly: - The icy was good until it melted and then it just tasted like I was drinking straight up strawberry syrup - Syrup tasted too tasted artificial...wish they used real strawberries - First time having milk foam & I didn't like it...if I got this drink again, I wouldn't get the milk foam with it Peach Milk Oolong Tea with Boba: - Tea taste was decently strong, but wasn't a fan of the overall peach taste

Blueberry Yogurt with Crystal Pearl - A person holds a clear plastic cup of blueberry yogurt with crystal pearl from Tsaocaa, featuring a white lid and a straw. The cup has a handwritten label indicating the flavor. The background shows a city street with parked cars, trees, and buildings, suggesting an outdoor urban setting.

Best taste for the price around Squirrel Hill. They're busy, so ordering online can save you time on weekends. Service pace is decent though, since there are a bunch of workers. There's no indoor seating and very limited outdoor seating, so it's definitely a grab and go situation. The tapioca balls never disappoint, as they're always chewy, moderately sweet, and not soggy/overcooked. Their milk teas don't come crazy sweet even at 100%. Blueberry Yogurt w/Crystal Boba: only comes in the small size. I've tried this entire series and they all taste like yogurt. If you're not a fan of that sour yogurt taste, I don't recommend it as it's not particularly sweet. Uji Matcha: comes with cheese foam. Honestly one of the best matcha drinks I've had in Pittsburgh. Nice and earthy, doesn't taste like a matcha-milk powder mix. Cheese foam is a nice complement, but I wish they offered it plain (you can get it without the foam, but you're still paying the full price) Taro Milk Green Tea w/Bubble: delicious, but the tea tends to be pretty weak and the amount of tarp you get varies a lot on the worker Purple Potato Milk Tea w/Bubble: comes with so much purple rice that it feels like a meal and I'm not a fan. I've only had it twice, but both times barely had any purée and too much rice

Brown Sugar Bubble Milk - A hand is holding a plastic cup of brown sugar bubble milk with a straw, positioned in front of a white wall. The wall displays the Tsaocaa logo and Chinese characters, indicating the location is a Tsaocaa bubble tea shop. The drink appears to be a milk tea with dark tapioca pearls at the bottom, and the cup has a Tsaocaa logo printed on it.

i moved from california (which has a lot of great boba spots) and i could say this is one of the best few boba spots in pgh! my friends and i came during a busy sunday night so the place was poppin but the service was quick. the pearls were soft and freshly made which i appreciated because the texture and quality of pearls in a milk tea drink definitely changes the experience. if you like a super sweet and milky drink, brown sugar bubble milk is a must-try!

Hong Kong Style Egg Waffle - A person is holding a red paper container filled with Hong Kong style egg waffles, which are round and golden-brown. The container features a cartoon fox reading a menu. The background shows the interior of a vehicle with gray seats and a window revealing part of the outside environment.

Highly recommend the HK egg waffle. The batter brings back childhood memories of HK in the 80's and is one of the best I've had in the states. The temperature is hot and fresh. They could use a little less batter to create slightly crispier gai dan chai but good enough for Pittsburgh. The service was fine, not much of it since it's all ordered via a large screen on the wall. No inside seats either. You can't customize drinks like you do at a Starbucks with a barista. For example, you can't order a beverage without the "bubbles", there's no option for you to remove ingredients, only the ability to add ingredients. This creates operational efficiencies but lacks true customization.

Inside - The image shows the interior of a bubble tea shop with several staff members wearing masks and black uniforms working behind the counter. Digital menu screens are mounted on the wall above, displaying drink options. The counter has various equipment, cups, and ingredients, with a glass display case in the foreground containing desserts and fresh fruits. Customers are visible in the foreground, waiting or ordering.

Tsaocaa is one of our favorite places for Boba! There is ALWAYS a wait for boba here, but it is always so good! We absolutely love it and have tried a variety of different drinks, and we haven't had a bad one yet!

ordering was easy and fast, with friendly staff and a clean environment! lots of natural light and solid boba tea with a very close distance for college students. i ordered the passion fruit pineapple tea with jelly, which was very good and fruity, though even at 70% sweetness it was still a little sweet for my taste. price was very reasonable for boba at a downtown area!

New favorite Matcha spot. Stopped in for national matcha day, which they offered a $1 discount on…read moretheir entire menu! Menu offerings were so vast, it took me a while to read through everything because it all sounded so good! They have a couple of rotating specials and different grades of matcha depending on caffeine levels and a weekly rotation of their soft serve. In addition to matcha lattes, they have shaved ice, soft serve floats, espresso + matcha combos, refreshers, and combos I never thought of but wanted to try. I love a yuzu drink so I tried their yuzu cool, a yuzu blended ice drink topped with their grade 1 matcha. It was amazing. The matcha quality was fantastic and you could really taste the difference. My friend tried one of spring menu offerings, a peach based latte and loved it. There's very limited seating inside so be aware. Street parking outside. I can't wait to return!!

I came on a weekend to get their soft serve. We got their ube x black sesame ice cream as their…read moreweekend special. The black sesame flavor was strong and present, but I think the ube flavor was lacking. The earl gray ice cream has a very strong floral aftertaste. Earl gray has that tea taste usually, but it was very overpowering. The jade fog latte was good as a matcha with a lavender cold form but for $8 as a matcha with cold foam is steep. There's only about 5 tables in the store, but sometimes some ppl come here to study. Street parking is free nearby.
