Kyo Matcha has everything matcha from ice cream to drinks to desserts. If you're a matcha lover or if you just have a sweet tooth, stop by this establishment. It is very aesthetic with more than enough tables and window seats. They share the building with MeetCha if you were craving milk tea. You can order at the kiosk or at the counter if you see a human there.
I'd been wanting to check this place out for a while, and it did not disappoint! The matcha was super strong and tasted like very high quality matcha. I got the matcha float with matcha ice cream, and it was a really refreshing yummy sweet treat that you can't get anywhere else in this city. The matcha latte froze a bit around the ice cream, so some bites had a little icy crunch and it was honestly so satisfying. You order from a kiosk so not really any interaction with employees, but they are pretty fast at getting your order out. The shop is cute and has lots of comfy seating. Definitely a nice place to go for a matcha-y dessert with friends or solo.
What a great matcha place in the neighborhood! We got the matcha lavender latte, the matcha soft serve ice cream, vanilla soft serve ice cream, and their infamous matcha towel cake. All or the items ordered were phenomenal - yes, even the vanilla. The towel cake was made of thin matcha crepes and matcha cream. Not too sweet and not overpowering. I would share with a friend or two! Lavender matcha latte was a good balance of both flavors, milk to matcha ratio was good and it was a refreshing drink to have. Even if taken with the cake. The matcha ice cream was creamy without being too rich to eat in one seating. Vibe is fun and casual, a lot of groups having fun and service was friendly. Street parking, credit cards. Would highly recommend!
Very cute drink & dessert place in squirrel hill. We stopped in for matcha soft serve but I couldn't stop myself from eyeing up their dessert and drink menu. Everything was so cute and colorful and looked delicious. They have self serve kiosks when you walk in but the ice cream needs to be ordered in the back. We got a mixed cone and it was so creamy - the vanilla toned down the matcha flavor so it was not overwhelming. Lots of comfy seating around the shop. My daughter loved the green quilted chairs and the hanging egg chair. Service prompt and friendly!
The employee at the counter needs better training on how to communicate respectfully with customers. I placed an order at the kiosk, received a number, and waited. The app showed that my order was ready, so I went to the counter to pick it up. My order number was 21, but I heard staff calling numbers 23 and 24. I didn't see my order on the counter, so I wasn't sure whether it was ready or had been missed. I approached the counter, showed the employee my app, and he responded, "Oh, give us a minute," while waving his hand as if I were bothering him. I felt confused, and then he added, "Have a seat," before walking away. The employees were not wearing name tags, so I couldn't identify him (see attached picture) This is a great drink chain, so this level of service is not acceptable. I hope staffs can show more respect and professionalism when interacting with customers, especially these kids. Thank you.
ORDER Soft Serve Mix w/ Matcha and Vanilla - very creamy and taste delicious. Compared to a lot of other soft servers that I've had the Matcha flavors actually pretty decent with a tea aroma. Jasmine Matcha Tea - I actually really like this drink. It's a good aroma of jasmine and the Matcha cream was very tasty. VIBES The vibes are really nice. The place is combined with Meet Cha. There is a nice modern wedding aesthetic with lots of greens that match the matcha vibe. The place is spacious with tons of seating from regular tables to boots to short little tables near the windows where you can sit crisscross on cushions and couches. They also have a cute little swing that you can sit in, but it does creak quite a bit. SERVICE I used the self order kiosk, so I didn't interact with them much, but everything came out really quickly !

I recommend their crepe cakes, cream puffs, ice cream, and any kind of beverage if you like matcha. Came here on a strong recommendation from a friend. While I didn't have any matcha flavored items (of which there are several), I thoroughly enjoyed my chocolate crepe cake. It was sweet but not too sweet - and chocolatey but not overly decadent. To order, you can either place an order directly with a staff member, or use the kiosk. You'll receive a number and can pick up for your sweet treat(s) as soon as they're served. Despite being a small shop, space is used well and there's ample and diverse seating options. Folks seemed to be enjoying the space in various ways (I noticed students studying, others socializing). All in all, I'd recommend it - and I'd come back!
We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was a steady flow of people. The restaurant is bright and open, with plenty of seating to choose from (including comfy green couches and chairs to match the matcha vibe). Note: if you order from the self ordering kiosk there is a 35 cent fee. Kind of odd, but oh well! I ordered the brown sugar cinnamon boba matcha and my friend got the white peach latte. We also got one of the towel cakes to share because it was too cute not to try it! The seating area was clean and so was the bathroom. We received our drinks and cake shortly after ordering and dug in. The cake is filled with red beans and has a light matcha flavor. It's fluffy and creamy! The drink was delicious and perfectly flavored for me. Many other customers were getting the ice cream, so I'm excited to go back and try!
4.5 stars. Kyo Matcha is an international chain restaurant that serves Japanese beverages and desserts. I recently visited this particular franchise location in Pittsburgh. When I first entered the restaurant, I saw a touchscreen kiosk that was for ordering only beverages. I walked toward the back of the restaurant, and there I saw a second touchscreen kiosk. The menu listed teas, lattes, slushes, smoothies, ice creams, cakes, and dessert bowls. I purchased one beverage and two desserts. Several minutes later, I received a text message that my order was ready for pickup from the counter. The restaurant was a large size and contained many clean tables and chairs. Here are my reviews for my order: Matcha Red Bean Towel Cake - 4 stars - As the name suggests, this cake looked like a rolled-up towel. I could taste the matcha, and I saw red beans inside. Passion Fruit Crepe Layer Cake - 4.5 stars - This cake consisted of many, many very thin layers of cake and creme and was topped with a layer of passion fruit. It tasted very rich. Strawberry Matcha Latte - 5 stars - I rarely drink lattes, but I really enjoyed the matcha and sweet strawberry flavors of this latte.

The matcha cone, and matcha boba both have great flavor. I feel like a lot of matcha places fall short on flavor but their matcha is very high quality! The restaurant is a shared space with meetcha, they both have fun seating options and this would be a great place to get work done if you don't mind a bit of noise. Ordering is very easy and I got my drink very quickly! read more
pittsburgh needs to improve their matcha game...this store was adorable and it looked like it had so much potential but my white peach matcha latte just tasted like peach milk with the slightest bit of matcha that was pretty grassy and grainy. the jasmine matcha had a weird jasmine taste and the matcha foam was not strong too :/ read more
We stopped by on a whim after dinner last Thursday for a sweet treat. They have two counters you can order at, one for boba and one for the other desserts. There are also kiosks you can order at as well. The inside is fairly spacious with a mix of tables with chairs and armchairs/small couches. There's also cubby seating in the windows. They gave me my matcha ice cream right away and gave my friend a buzzer and she got her drink after a short wait. Both were delicious and I wish we had room for more! read more

Great prices, quick service, and clean setup inside. They've got a decent sized menu that gives you enough choice, but not so much that you have a hard time choosing. Will definitely be back for another sweet treat again. read more
I had the matcha soft serve and I liked the cone a lot! The inside of the store had lots of seating and it was packed on a weekend! You can order at a kiosk or at the register! We didn't have to wait too long for our drinks and dessert. read more

Who doesn't like to get there matcha fix? This place provides a plethora of options. The ambience is open with lots of seating and service was quick and friendly. I got the Matcha parfait with red beans, crunchy flakes, and rice Mochi. It was delicious! read more

Such a tasty place! They have a matcha side and a boba tea side! They have a variety of different drinks and tasty treats and so much more! I love all the different options to choose from! The interior is so nice to enjoy all of your treats! Such a cozy and roomy spot! They have pos systems so you don't have to wait in line to order! Very cool and worth it! read more
For the record, I am a true matcha snob and picky! I have gone to numerous SF (Cali) matcha places to find the best of the best and I will find it here in Pittsburgh. Currently, this place holds the cake for their flavors and uniqueness. For starters, I have yet gone inside but I will when I have free time to try their parfait and see what their ice cream is like, I will update my review. We ordered off DoorDash which doesn't include some of their menu items, thought it was a little weird but I can see why they might not offer it. My best friend got an Oreo drink as she isn't a matcha person and doesn't like to try new things too often but really enjoyed this drink. My bf ordered the matcha brûlée drink and loved it; he said it tasted way better than the last place we tried. Then there is me, I ordered the black sesame latte with oat milk + red bean. I know what you're saying, why the black sesame? I want to mention that a lot of places I have been to with black sesame just aren't the same as the places in Cali and when I see it on the menu, I must try it. I was surprised that they don't have a matcha black sesame latte which would be amazing and I didn't see a matcha/jasmine milk tea option as well. It's not for everyone but if they ever wanted to release or give a limited edition flavor profile, pick these two! Anyways, I feel like the price is more fair for what you get and I do wish there were some gluten free options within the "dessert" side. I do want to try the towel cake but I'm pretty sure it's not gluten free friendly. read more

The actual flavor was good, but despite getting "regular ice" it was warm. There were only a couple ice cubes in it. Also, it was $8 for a regular size, which I thought was kinda expensive. read more

Hopping place on a Sunday afternoon. Met a girlfriend here for dessert and a study date. Come early or you may not get a seat. She tried the chocolate frozen yogurt, which is reportedly better than the matcha froyo. I had the matcha cake, which was not sweet at all, and peach tea. This is a cute spot for true Matcha lovers! There are so many options of drinks and desserts to choose from. I tried the matcha latte floats and hojicha latte, both are delicious. There are also non-matcha drinks and dessert available as well. I really like the fact that you can choose ice and sugar level for your drinks. There are plenty of seating inside and a couple of tables at the patio. The service was quick. I will definitely come back for more treats. read more
The matcha was very good here! Ordered the latte float and got 50% sweet and it wasn't very sweet so just be warned. The cake was fluffy, light, and a must have! The inside of the cafe is bright and light colored wood, lots of study goers. Service was fine, nothing to write home about. Overall will come back again. read more
Perfect study spot or cute dessert place to hang out with friends. This is a popular Asian dessert franchise and I'm glad they're here in pgh. The There is a boba shop inside with many options to choose from and so many matcha dessert choices. I went for the matcha mixed soft serve and it was delicious!! A lovely, relaxing place to chill for a few hours with a book or over friendly conversation. It is super new inside, and a fresh, welcome addition to Squirrel Hill (even though there are an abundance of similar "matcha cafes" springing up all over at present!). I have enjoyed iced matcha lattes here in the summer. And also got to have a treat of the layered crepe cake. It is a little pricey, but I was rewarding myself. :) All in all, this feels like a place that dropped into the neighborhood as a taste of Japanese culture. It is a fun place to visit and has two separate menus and ordering areas. One is more pure matcha drinks and desserts and one is a large menu of a variety of teas - some with boba and others without. I went here to study and wanted to try their matcha. I ordered an iced matcha latte with 50% sugar. For me, the sweetness was a bit too much so the next time I would try 0%. The interior is spacious with seating and couches. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. read more
Love the seating area and the ambiance, the decor is aesthetic and fits the matcha theme. The matcha soft serve and parfait is my favorite. The matcha towel cake was not my favorite as the matcha flavor wasn't as prominent. read more

Insanely good ice cream. I got the matcha soft swirl with brown sugar as a topping and have been dreaming about this dessert ever since. Absolutely incredible dessert. Ambiance of the place is very cute and cafe like! I would say it's nice for hanging out with others and maybe studying if you don't mind the noise. Kyo Matcha shares the same location as a boba place, Meet Cha, so if you're there for this place, I would head straight to the back counter. You won't regret it! read more

What a fabulous new addition to PGH! They have amazing boba at Meetcha. I really liked my mango pomelo sago and the brown sugar boba was really good too. I loved their soft serve here. It is so dang good!! It's creamy and the matcha flavor really comes through. The Hojicha was yum too. They have a monthly special flavor and it's currently sesame. The desserts are soooo good here and even better, it's not too sweet. The crepe cakes are fabulous and the cream cakes are so good too. Loved the brown sugar boba cake and strawberry cakes. The towel cakes are really nice too but I wish it had more sugar so it might be perfect for people who don't love super sweet desserts. Staff is super nice and service is fast. Love the decor inside here too. Super trendy and modern and cute. Great place to chill and work. read more

The matcha was excellent. I got the lavender matcha latte and the strawberry matcha latte. Both were delicious but the lavender may have been the best drink I've ever had. The service was amazing. The vibes were good. A bit pricey but it's worth it. read more
Great time trying out Kyo Matcha on opening weekend! There was many different drinks, desserts, and ice creams to choose from. Plus there was a good amount of seating and the decor was very cute and green! The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our favorite dessert was the milk cap cakes, we tried ube and strawberry. The parfait was also delicious. We enjoyed the tiramisu crepe cake as well! read more

I love the Japanese ambience of the restaurant, the food and desserts were amazing. The service was quick, when we ordered 3 drinks it took less than 5 minutes to be ready. When I ordered the soft serve I got it in less than 15 seconds. Overall a great place to go for drinks and desserts. read more
The design is very modern and cute. I loved their window seats with Japanese style chairs. I prefer their drinks over the dessert because even though I love matcha, the cake was too bitter for me. Another thing, there is a totally different cafe inside the whole place which was a nice surprise! read more
