The new space is smaller than I expected but they do get people in and out. About 8 or so tables. On the pricier side of things ~12 for a reg breakfast sandwich on an English Muffin. Donuts from Orams. Some items from Good L'Oven. The iced brownie I bought, to be consumed later that day, had clearly been sitting for a few days. They also charge a credit card surcharge. No mention of it when she gave me my total and no apparent sign stating as such. I don't mind business passing on the charge but let me make the decision if I want to pay 3% extra or pay with cash. I think The Roaming Bean is infamous at this point, at least in the general Pittsburgh area. They operate multiple mobile coffee stands (AKA food trucks but for coffee) and can be found in different neighborhoods throughout the week. They also make regular appearances at a couple local markets (Janoski's and Simmons) and can be booked at private events. They have a reputation for serving some of the tastiest specialty lattes. And I don't mean, like, vanilla lattes; think more along the lines of Blackberry Raspberry Chocolate Chip lattes. Their menu rotates regularly, so you can expect to see different flavors during different seasons. Their current menu, for example, is quite festive since it's December. (They don't appear to have kept the s'mores latte this year though...a shame!) I love their drinks, if you couldn't tell, but these are definitely the kind of drinks where you taste the syrups and added flavors more than the coffee itself. I'm mentioning that since the number one complaint I see from people is that the drinks can be too sweet or they wish the coffee was stronger. I personally love The Roaming Bean; I'm a latte lover with a sweet tooth, so their fancy drinks are a delectable treat for me. (Also they regularly sell Oram's goodies as well - I always get one of those to go!) I stopped by here this past Sunday with my family for our morning coffee. Every weekend we try to hit up a new local coffee shop and on this morning it happened to be The Roaming Bean. I had found this place on Yelp and did not realize they were actually a coffee trailer even though the name probably should have given it away. In a nice coincidence for us, they were set up at Labriola's which was about two minutes from where we already planned to go. So we headed over. Since this is a coffee trailer there is not too much to say about the setup. It is painted black and I believe they had three employees working the day we were there. That turned out to be a good thing because the line was long, but it moved quickly. For our coffees I ordered a hot Bananas For You Latte while my wife went with an iced Raspberry Waffle Cone. My latte was described as a banana and amaretto flavored latte topped with whipped cream and banana chips. My wife's drink was described as a madeleine, caramel and cinnamon flavored latte topped with raspberry cold foam, waffle pieces and sprinkles. From the time we ordered to the time we had our drinks in hand was less than five minutes, so we were quickly on our way. My coffee ended up being pretty good. The amaretto flavor was the most noticeable with the banana coming through second but still present. It did not overpower the coffee itself which stayed rich and noticeable in the background. The banana chips were interesting. I liked the idea and the flavor, but trying to get them out of a hot to go cup was a bit awkward. My wife also enjoyed her drink and especially liked the flavor along with the waffle cone pieces. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. We both enjoyed our coffees and I would be interested in trying more of their seasonal drinks. read more

We were lucky enough to catch the Roaming Bean truck at Janoski's during the fall/Pumpkinland one past weekend. It was a pleasant surprise and we knew we had to seize the opportunity to finally get this mobile coffee shop. They had an assortment of baked goods on display outside and a fall features menu. We both chose lattes from the fall menu, one hot and one iced. The staff were friendly and you could tell they were working hard to keep up with the crowd. The cold brew could be a bit stronger, wasn't a fan that it was so easy to see through, but the special was still very tasty. Who would've thought that a little camper pumping out espresso drinks and fancy little lattes would be so busy! I was able to visit them when they were at Janoski's Farm in Clinton on 4/19. I had seen them on Instagram and I was so excited, lo and behold, I did not know that specific location was going to have no parking available due to an event being put on by the farm in regard to Easter (not from that area). Safe to say, I was not pleased about the distance I had to walk to get to them LOL (not their fault) I got in line at 10:20 AM and did not get back to my car until 11:05. Had to have been maybe 30-ish people in front of me? So just an FYI, don't plan on visiting if you can't stand and wait wherever they may be! I decided to go with the Coconut Cadbury Egg Latte and I'm so glad that I did! The flavors were great, and I enjoyed chewing on the "Easter grass" and getting my little treat of the chocolate eggs when I was done I ordered the Chocolate Chip Cookie Cold Brew for someone else and this is the reason that I'm knocking down a star (not due to the drink itself) Standing at the window and trying to see the menus that were out of view from the side without leaving my spot in line, I went to order saying that I wanted a "chocolate chip cookie dough- or whatever it's called, I'm sorry" in which I get corrected saying "you mean the chocolate croissant latte?" well, no because thats a completely different drink off the menu, so I tried to tell them that I didn't know what it was actually called & apologized again, but mentioned that I know it's a chocolate chip cookie drink. *blank stare* This is when I stepped back out of the line so I could see what the drink's government name was so I wasn't ostracized any longer and as I'm doing that I hear "oh, you mean the cold brew" ... YEP! whew, what a wipe your brow moment. I understand they were busy and maybe overloaded mentally but when I'm saying almost the exact menu item and you suggest something completely different, I was a bit puzzled! May be trivial, but I felt like I was speaking a different language due to this interaction lol The drinks probably took 1-2 minutes to come out to me, maybe even less. There were other people standing next to me, so they called my coconut latte and I snagged it, and then when they called the cookie chip chocolate dough brew (sorry i must've forgot again), I had looked at the people standing next to me as if they were also waiting for a drink (didn't want to take their's first if that was the case) and the person working inside that took my order said "yep, that's the cold brew you ordered".. alrighty then! So yeah, the drinks are great, they taste good, but service wise I'm just not pleased! Was it something I said? Was it my face? Was it my outfit? Did i stink?? The Roaming Bean came to PPG Place earlier this week. The Croissant Latte literally was topped with whipped cream and a mini croissant! How cute is that. They also carried "stuffed" cookies (forgot who the purveyor was) which were tasty (these ones, you can nibble on throughout the day; too much to eat all at once). This mobile coffee trailer definitely has a unique concept when it comes to their drinks! I do like that they add a little twist to each different flavor. I tried the chocolate croissant latte. The croissant was probably the tastiest part about the latte. The drink itself wasn't that special. The brownie flavor is definitely overpowering, I could taste a bit of the almond but you would have never guessed there was a Madeleine flavor as you wouldn't be able to taste it. I would rate the latte a 6.8/10 -I also bought a few chocolate chip cookies, I believe they may be from a bakery as some of the packing have stickers on the back of them with a name. The cookies had no flavor which I was disappointed with because I love a chocolate chip cookie. One more thing is that it may be a bit overpriced! I don't think it's worth what I've spent. read more

I was so excited I finally got to try the coffee truck since it was at an event closer to where I live. It did live up to the hype as well. There was a long line but they have a system that works and it moved fast. They offered a summer menu and a special item for shark week. Every drink I saw looked delicious. I got to stop and try The Roaming Bean during one of their pop ups in the North Hills. I got the Iced Oatmeal Cream Pie Latte, the cold foam was to die for! My friends ordered the Iced Teddy Graham Latte and the Coconut Cream Cold Brew. I'd highly recommend the lattes but would skip the coconut cold brew, but that's just my opinion. Their truck came to my place of employment and I got a mango refresher and gluten free brownie. I liked that there were good sized pieces of fresh mango on the bottom, and the brownie was delicious.I don't often buy fancy drinks but I enjoyed it so much that when I was at the Extravaganza at The Carnegie Library in Oakland last weekend I tried the blueberry matcha.
