Schnitzel a la Holstein (front), Leberkaes mit Spiegelei (back)
    Kimberley M.

Service We came here on a Friday night. They had a live band and the spot was full. There's a bar flanking one side of the restaurant and dining tables on the other side. Service was reliable, friendly and good. Only caveat is it can get pretty loud while the band is playing but that's also something that draws people in. Food We ordered a couple of apps - both were awesome. The potato pancakes were large, piping hot and perfect. We also ordered a small order of perogies. Yum! For mains we got the Schnitzel a la Holstein and Leberkse Mit Spiegelei. We liked the schnitzel more but both dishes were good! Overall Class joint, with good food. Only draw back they were cash only

Nice German restaurant in Bay Ridge. My friend had bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes which he said was good. I enjoyed the steak salad. Beware, it has lots of dressing. I'd get it again but with the dressing on the side. Tasty. Good service also.

    Creamy mushroom pork schnitzel

I got their pork schnitzel with creamy mushroom sauce and I was soooo happy with it. If you love mushroom I recommend this dish. It comes with a lot of mushroom, like you can cut a piece of pork and have a mushroom with it that how much mushroom it comes with it. Their schnitzel comes with a side of potato with bacon bits and salad. There are many dressing you can pick. If you want to try something different get their warm bacon. (For those who like bacon)

I'll give them full 10 stars, not only for their hospitality but also for absolutely tasty food. Simple but delicious. Friendly atmosphere, authentic decor makes you visit very much happier . Thank you guys for serving us. Definitely will be back soon.

Have come here multiple times since we moved to bay ridge even when it was dining outdoors only. Their food is delicious and it's always popping. Also they have live bands which is great. Brooklyn Bards was playing tonight. They have a good variety of draft German beers. Also, have had the fresh fruit summer sangria multiple times and it's delicious. I decided to come here for restaurant week 2022. They were super busy so I will give them some leeway so it was pretty hard to get any service for a drink or more water but wow, we also waited more than an hour for appetizers. Also, they were out of a lot of items. The sausage teller was very good and apple strudel was absolutely delicious. The dessert was hot and flakey and I don't even usually like desserts, yum! This visit started out slow but ended great. Service was great at the end. Only took 20 minutes to get our entrees and no time for our dessert. I think the lesson I learned is to come early or come late. Note: They were cash only so be prepared!

    PILZE FÖRSTERIN ART

We visited this restaurant the day after, as we were forgetful, and left our backpack. Olivia, the bartender and waitress, from the night before, was nice enough to safely store our bag. We were overjoyed as the restaurant had a live band playing oldie songs at 7pm. We had the pleasure of having , Amber and a young lad, served us with smiles and such politeness. Looking at the menu, there was a variety of things to try. We started our dinner with PILZE FÖRSTERIN ART. This was a mushroom appetizer to die for. It was absolutely amazing! Mouthwatering, and so flavorful with every bite. Making sure we had room to try a dessert, we decided to order a light dinner, and shared the LEBERKÄS MIT SPIEGELEI as our entree. This is a pork and veal loaf with two fried eggs on top. It came with mash potatoes, but the waitress so graciously allowed us to substitute with the German Potato salad. The eggs were perfect to our liking, but the loaf was a bit salty, but still good. The potato salad was also good. The entree was a nice size portion. We ordered the Black Forest cake, and thought it was okay. For us, it was not moist enough. We're looking forward to returning as our two consecutive visits were very nice.

This is the BEST German food I've had in South Florida...and anywhere in America! The service is equally outstanding! The ambiance is sophisticated without being stuffy. They have managed to make a restaurant in an every day strip mall feel cozy and comfortable with a good level of elegance. It's no Biergarten. It's a proper restaurant. Our server was great. She did mishear my boyfriend when he made his entree order, but he was fine with it because the entree she brought was just as tasty and it gave us ANOTHER reason to go back!! The sauerbraten was amazing, along with the beer, the bread pudding, the meatball, blackened shrimp...everything is fresh, authentic and beautifully presented.

rich slow cooked beef and mushroom paprika stew. Rindsgulasch mit Nudeln, but mit mash instead
    Rose P.

I finally took the ultimate photo of their Gulyás, which is a rich slow cooked beef and mushroom paprika stew. I get it with mash as I can't eat gluten, and these guys get the beauty of the potato. I'd imagine there is a smidge of flour in the roux, but as a non-celiac gluten intolerancia I eat it no problem Rindsgulasch mit Nudeln, but mit mash instead. They also make the distinction between the two types of goulash by specifying that the thin one is a soup. They make each schnitzel type different from the other versions, and complement it with a variety of Cental European sauce and big perfect pretzels with multiple mustards. their hashbrowns /rosti is great. Prime Rib Thursdays can be ordered by phone, even though it's not online. Even the steamed veg was cooked to that masterful point. The gluten free fish and chips would have been flawless except that it steamed during delivery, which caused the fish to break apart and the egg-heavy batter to lose all other flavor. Every bite I put in the tartar sauce was incredible because there was a zing in that sauce that kept me coming back for more. I love this place, as does my spouse. Great portions, flavors on point, and sauces like no other. Would love to try a potato pancake here at some point but gluten. Tastes like I'm in Dresden or Prague. My only request would be to get larger portion cups for sauces. I like the 6 őz cups for au jus, mushroom or Jäger sauce. 4 ounce for your mustard as the squirt into it will be less than 3 ounce total but leaves room for that little extra. The lemon wedge has never ever been forgotten no matter how many items we get or how often we order or how busy they are. That is another huge deal: the details. If your food is accompanied by many small side items, the meal is ruined if those sides fail to leave with the delivery order. These guys never fail to include each precious detail. You can feel the passion in their cooking. The packaging is thoroughly and meticulous. The pricing is fair and the delivery charge is reasonable. This business has held on through some devastating crises and came out stronger perhaps because the owner loves his restaurant. The deserve to be successful for decades to come. Thanks for keeping the best Gulyás in Bay Ridge.

Side salad with warm bacon dressing
    Cristina C.

My friends and I wanted to try something new and came upon this restaurant on Yelp. We came on a Tuesday night and there wasn't a wait for a table. We started with the complimentary bread which was warm and fluffy. My friend had order the wurst sampler and he really liked it. I personally didn't try it since the meat was too game for my taste. We also ordered the potato pancakes (reibekuchen) which came with a side of sour cream and apple sauce and that was delicious! My friends ordered the pork shank (schweinshaxe) which came in 3 different sizes. This also takes a while to cook so make sure you order this as soon as you get seated if you know you're getting this. I had the rahm schnitzel which was SO good. It came with 2 pieces of fried pork cutlets topped with this mushroom gravy that was to die for. It also came with a side of home fries and a side salad. The home fries were so good! It was cooked perfectly and there were pieces of bacon in it. I definitely can't wait to come back for this dish! I had the warm bacon dressing everyone was raving about on my side salad and it tasted alright to me. Didn't have much of a bacon taste to it. Had a good experience and definitely will be coming back. The kitchen closes early during the weekdays so keep this in mind if you plan to come late. Also bring cash! Apparently there's an extra charge if you pay with card!

A Bay Ridge staple that's been around and I finally had an opportunity to visit the restaurant. Started with the pretzel and Wurst Teller to activate the palate before the main dishes, Sauerbraten and Hahnchen Paprikash arrived to fill us up. The Wrust Teller gave us a taste of different types wursts grilled or boiled. The pretzel was good, but disappointing because I was expecting a humongous pretzel and got a tiny one instead. The Sauerbraten was so tender, there's no need to use a knife. The Hahnchen Paprikash was a surprise...I was expecting dried pieces of chicken slathered in sauce, but as I cut into the chicken, I noticed the tenderness and soon confirmed the perfectly prepared chicken breast was tender and juicy. I had a good experience here and would definitely go back and try the other dishes.

I chose this place because I had visited a few times in the past and expected a positive environment. While there, I ran into an old friend who was accompanying individuals with special needs. They informed us about the R&B karaoke event, and we attempted to participate respectfully and supportively. Unfortunately, after participating, the DJ became rude and dismissive. My friends decided not to continue because each time they attempted to request a song, the DJ was unkind and impatient, seemingly unaware--or unconcerned--that they were individuals with special needs. The situation escalated when I attempted to calmly address the disrespect. Instead of listening, the bartender repeatedly accused me of being drunk simply because I was defending myself after a rude comment. I was not intoxicated; I was advocating for respectful treatment. Even the DJ's own companion appeared visibly shocked by the comment made toward me, as if anticipating a reaction. I remained composed and professional despite being deeply upset. What disappointed me most was the staff's decision to defend the DJ's behavior rather than acknowledge how inappropriate and disrespectful the interaction was. This reflects poorly on how this establishment treats people--especially those who deserve patience, understanding, and dignity. I came expecting an enjoyable brunch experience and left feeling ashamed for having trusted this place. It is clear that the venue prioritizes protecting mediocre DJs with minimal local popularity over treating customers with basic respect. Poor organization, lack of proper event management, and unprofessional staff behavior made this experience unacceptable. I have visited many establishments and have never felt so disrespected. I will not be returning.
