Attended a private party here. Noticed they had a nice selection of bottles from Weller at the bar. Fortunately, they were at a reasonable price too. I had a two ounce pour of Weller Full Proof for $24. Our party offered a three course menu. I started with a legendary hot antipasto plate including baked clams, stuffed shrimp, fried calamari, and eggplant rollatini. I'm still shocked all these were offered on one plate. I particularly enjoyed the three seafood offerings. I'd definitely recommend it if it's available on the standard dining menu. For my main course, I opted for the chicken parmigiana. Gino's is a fantastic, classic Brooklyn neighborhood spot. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it has that authentic, old-school feel that makes you want to settle in for a great meal. The biggest standout here is definitely the portion sizes--they are absolutely massive. You definitely get your money's worth, and you'll easily leave with enough leftovers for another full meal. The only minor downside was that the food was a little too salty for my personal taste. While the flavors and ingredients were clearly fresh and well-prepared, toning down the salt just a bit would have made it perfect. Love love love this restaurant! I wish I could uproot it to Carroll Gardens. Gino's keeps Italian tradition alive with Sunday afternoon dinner. Their space is huge and always jam packed! With every visit (though not as frequently as I'd like), it's always crowded with people waiting for a table. We're talking about 3 PM on a Sunday! Came here for dinner on a Thursday night, and good thing we made reservations because it was pretty crowded. We rode the metro, but it seemed like there was an interesting valet parking situation going on right outside the restaurant. When you walk in, they have pizza slices for sale, which I ended up ordering as my meal. They don't have the pizzas on the menu, so take note of the flavors they have when entering. I got a slice of the eggplant pizza. The crust was crispy and overall a solid slice of pizza. We also ordered the rigatoni with sausage and eggplant. Noodle texture was good and flavorful. This is a place I come with my family and in laws for dinner to celebrate events or just for a nice dinner out. The restaurant has the pizzeria in center at the front and the rest of the place has a lot of seating for groups in the back along with a bar. The staff is nice and helpful and gives great service. I had the grilled salmon with spinach and it's grilled to near perfection and melts in your mouth. Splash it with the lemon slice to give some tart to the flavor of the salmon. This is a neighborhood restaurant that while fantastic is not a destination location, but one that is you go when in Bay Ridge. I was in the area and craving pasta, so I decided to check out this restaurant. I started with the fried calamari appetizer, and it was hot and crispy. I like how it's not very salty. Then I got the linguine with clam sauce and veal medallion. It tasted very good. I like the sauce on the linguine pasta. For dessert, I ordered chocolate mousse and Spumoni with 3 scoops: vanilla, pistachio, and chocolate. This place is super popular so definitely make reservations if you're planning to go. I have been going to Gino's for years with my family (parents and grandparents) and it is seriously the greatest of all time! Gino's is the diamond of Fifth Avenue - it is so classy and an authentic family-oriented restaurant that has served countless customers, who also absolutely love dining at this fine establishment. It was also recently renovated and over the years expanded the space and has a private party space and additional seating in a gorgeous enclosed outdoor garden area. Just getting started...how can I ever begin to encapsulate the amazingness of Gino's? Okay, so when you walk through the doors, you will smell the fresh oven baked pizza that is so hot and bubbly. Gino's is usually pretty busy and crowded because it is so popular, but they are extremely quick and accommodating with seating guests at tables. They are on time with reservations and also with customers who walk in to eat. While you wait, you can grab a quick drink at the bar. Also, you will be warmly greeted by the host/hostess, who will take you to your table. While walking through the restaurant, you will also be enthusiastically welcomed by the wait staff, who instantly make you feel like you're returning home to have a beautifully cooked meal. Now onto the food. Who can ever say that they basically had every single item on the menu and countless times each? Yes, that is how often we have dined at Gino's and it is truly the neighborhood gem. We have heavily counted on Gino's for times that we didn't have any energy to cook after work or during the weekend. They have always been there for us through thick and thin and have been consistently good throughout the years. For the appetizers, we usually order a few spreads for the table. Baked clams oreganata (eight clams stuffed with garlicky breadcrumbs and baked in white wine and butter), hot antipasto (Baked Clams, Shrimp Oreganata, Fried Calamari and Eggplant Rollatini), Zuppa Di Mussels (mussel soup with either white wine or red sauce broth and garlic), mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini paired with marinara sauce dip or margherita pizza pie. For the entrees, we order our classics of chicken cutlet parm, shrimp oreganata with linguine, orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage, fillet of sole (broiled oreganata) that is served with a side of your choice. Cooked to absolute perfection time after time. Compliments to the chef! I would highly suggest taking a look at their weekly special offerings. Oh and add in a glass of red or white wine for the perfect finishing touch. For dessert, we usually get the classic cheesecake, black and white chocolate mousse, spumonis, tortoni and affogato. We also get coffee and cappuccino. Gino's also offers catering services for Christmas and the holidays, so we have ordered trays of food in the past that have lasted us a week worth of meals. We would get the baked clams, stuffed shells, shrimp cocktail, shrimp oreganata, penne vodka, sausage and peppers, and chicken cutlet parmigiana. They would add in fresh bread and extra sauces. Biggest shoutouts to Elvis, Eddie and Nick, who have been the BEST waiters. They are so sweet and their energy, attentiveness, and customer service is unmatched and unparalleled! It's always a great time at Gino's! Whether dining alone, with family or friends, the food and drinks are good and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Gino's is a Bay Ridge institution and has been a staple of my childhood and adult years. While working at a nearby hospital, this was also an occasional gathering place for my colleagues and I. The staff are friendly and welcoming and I never felt rushed out of the restaurant even after finishing my meal. It does get busy at dinner but I've never had any issues snagging a table without reservations. Gino's is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Brooklyn. But I have to say I feel things are changing. I have ordered this hot antipasto before and there was a much bigger portion that what I have pictured. There was one piece of eggplant rolatini, 2 baked clams & 2 shrimps. The fried calamari wasn't a lot either. I feel it's ridiculous to offer so little on the antipasto. Even the shrimp cocktail had 4 shrimps, I feel 6 would have been worth it. I understand that prices are increasing but the portions should be worth the money. Just my personal opinion. But as always I LOVE the penne vodka and I get it with peas and fried chicken cutlet. I came on Valentine's day with a reservation and it was hard to even walk in. It was packed from the door to all the way inside where the bar was. We had to wait maybe 15-20 minutes because staff was just so busy and hard to flag down. They were doing their best to clear tables as quickly as possibly and get everyone settled. We started off with some bread that came with some kind of oil, I should've asked for some butter but the bread wasn't too hard which I liked. We ordered apps which came pretty quick: baked clams and calamari. The baked clams were so good and not too expensive compared to the other Italian spots in New York. The calamari was good and it came with this tomato dip, but definitely recommend the baked clams more. The sauce and everything was just perfect. The pasta took a while and even getting a water refill was hard because everyone was super busy. I got the half portion of grilled chicken + peas in vodka sauce. The sauce was terrific and I love how they offer half portions so it's less expensive. It filled me just right given how I had appetizers too. We also got the chicken parm with spaghetti. This might be my new favorite Italian spot. It was crowded the minute we walked in and you can tell it's a neighborhood gem (which, is probably a good thing I live further away lol). We started with their meatballs (YUM), the calamari and the server gave us a great recommendation for red wine. I LOVED the penne vodka as my main and we really loved the blueberry dessert special (the creme brulee we could have skipped). It was very affordable too, for all the food that we consumed. So, I ordered take-out for penne vodka, fried calamari, and chicken cutlet parmigiana (with fries). Unpopular opinion, but overall taste of everything was average. Not sure if the quality lowered because I got take-out, but I did reheat everything when I ate it... The penne vodka was a little bland. Despite having the sun-dried tomatoes and basil seasoning on top, there wasn't much flavor. Personally, I've had much better vodka sauce elsewhere (or at least better for my palate). The calamari was lightly battered, and came with tomato dip and a slice of lemon. I like to put a lot of lemon on it, but it nothing special. I ordered the pasta in butter sauce with shrimps, garlic knots and chicken & rice soup. The soup was highly recommended by a friend and reheated well. Their prices are great and so are the portions. We came here on a Friday night or a birthday celebration with my husband for his birthday. We have gone here a few times already, and really enjoy the homey-ness of this restaurant and the portions of food (and also the dishes are really delicious). We ordered the fried calamari and the seafood salad as a starter. The fried calamari is always a hit because the batter is so light, airy, but really crispy at the same time. The seafood salad is loaded with seafood, and I always get it. The dressing is really tangy and flavorful, but some may find the dressing to be really tangy. For the mains, we ordered the bowtie pasta and the seafood risotto (their special for the day). Of the 2, for this night, I did prefer the risotto more. It was so creamy, and the rice was cooked to perfection. The bowtie pasta is really good too, and I always order it when I come here. Came here for my friend's birthday yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. The decor is sleek and modern, it wasn't decorated like a traditional Italian restaurant. The workers were smiling and very much helpful. The patrons in the restaurant did make a couple of my friends feel uncomfortable with consistent staring. We had a pre-fixed lunch/dinner. Ginos has a big back room for large parties and we were seated there. I got a glance at their backyard area and it was nicely decorated. There was a bit of a wait for the drinks and the appetizers, and I think it's because they were waiting for the rest of the party to show. A couple of us had to return some glasses due totem being dirty, when given new ones, they were quite clean. In regards to the drinks, we had Pepsi, Ginger Ale, and white and red wine. I stuck to the Pinot Giorgio that was served, and it was pretty decent. The only thing I would've done is kept all the wine white, but I understand for different pallets they have to offer both. For the appetizers. we had baked clams, salad, tomatoes and ricotta cheese, and calamari. Everything was pretty decent, but the salad stood out. The dressing was light and flavorful and the veggies were fresh. At Gino's, they bring everything in courses, so next was pasta. They serve their plates family style, so we had Penne Alla Vodka and the Rigatoni. They were both delicious and the plates were gone in a matter of seconds. Portion-wise, I think the sizes were a bit on the smaller side. The final course before dessert was meat/seafood. There was salmon, chicken parmesan, and veal. I'm not a fan of veal, so I didn't try it, but the Salmon was decent, and the Chicken Parm was the star. It was so good that we had to ask for more Penne to go with it. There were also green beans & potatoes. I was saving the 0.25% left for dessert, so I didn't indulge. Finally, we sang happy birthday and had our dessert. I liked that they gave everyone different pieces of cake on these platters and got to choose what we wanted. The chocolate cake I had was great very tasty. Overall, it was a good experience, and I would recommend this place for a birthday dinner or even a lunch or dinner date. Valentine's Day was crazy busy but in a nice way. It was quite the place to be! There were couples with gifts and flowers, and some were so dressed up! I thought the holidays were busy- but February 14th was over-the-top! The food was plated beautifully and tasted delicious! Interestingly I got the same waiter as my first visit! This time around he gave fast and accurate service with 2 polite check-ins. My mussels were so good. They were large, plump and juicy with a delicious broth.
