My office has ordered from here a few times for lunch and honestly every time the food has been overpriced and disappointing. The most recent time we ordered from there I got the linguine with clam sauce and it was not good at all. It was basically a ton of bland linguine with a sprinkle of tiny clams and broccoli with the smallest amount of sauce. There was barely any flavor. However, the food was absolutely swimming in grease on the outside. Would definitely not recommend at all. I have been to Gino's twice: the first time the food was good (a 4 star level) but our whole family ended up with stomach issues. We have no proof that this originated in Gino's so I give them the benefit of a doubt. The next time we had a reservation and came in to a long line of people waiting for theirs, with a 20-30 min wait time. Service was polite if quite slow and for the most part the food was very good. Here's what we tried: 1. Baked clams -- more breadcrumbs than anything else, the worst thing we tried; 2. Fried zucchini -- adeptly fried but screaming for seasoning; 3. Chicken Francaise -- my brother's friend liked the chicken and the sauce but said the penne was a bit over cooked; 4. Shrimp marinara -- very good; nice and bright marinara and plump shrimp; 5. Seafood salad -- excellent. Shrimp, octopus and squid were all fresh, salad was seasoned perfectly and (most importantly) squid wasn't rubbery; 6. Pasta e fagioli -- some of the best I've ever had; huge portion too. The fried zucchini was a bit soggy, but that's expected for delivery; it's not the same as eating inside the place. The calamari was a HUGE hit and was gone before I could get a good helping. My father in law was a bit disappointed with the meat lasagna, as it was sitting in quite a lot of sauce. The lasagna was made fresh, but it was just okay in his book. Maybe if there was a bigger piece of lasagna cut, there would've been less sauce? Not sure, but the portion was decent. The penne vodka with chicken is always a staple every time we order, and is a general crowd pleaser. If in doubt what to order, that's the dish to get! Had a reservation for 4 tonight, we arrive on time and they looked packed. The hostess tells us we had to wait, and to make matters worse she says she can't give us a time estimate on how long our table will be ready even though we had a reservation. She takes down my cellphone number and I tell her we are waiting outside and she said we will get a text when the table is ready. 20 mins of waiting and still no text, we end up going to another nearby restaurant and had dinner there instead. Whole night goes by and never got the text that our table was ready so good thing we went elsewhere. I don't understand the point of taking a reservation made days before and not be able to sit you. But at the same time, the first time I had this dish it wasn't really astonishing at all. We ordered a rigatoni, Bolognese pasta and white sauce pasta, and a Caesar salad. I am a big fan of their salad because it's creamy and it's crunchy and I love the textures and it's just my standard for a Caesar salad. However, the pasta were a little underwhelming. I was in a party of six for a birthday celebration. The restaurant was packed. Our wait staff were very good, very professional. All our dishes were brought to table at the same time. Nice. This shows the venue respects its customers. (I hate it when dishes are brought separately, and one is obliged to be polite and let one's food go cold, while waiting for others to be served.) I ordered the portobello mushroom with mesclun salad, followed by eggplant parmigiana. Excellent, especially the eggplant. One in my party had woody bits of asparagus in her dish, but this was the only disappointment. Perhaps the preparer doesn't know the finer points of asparagus. They told me that it will be in a Marsala sauce it came in light yellowish sauce that I don't know what to call sauce. The mushrooms were on the plate like a Marsala sauce but no way a Marsala sauce. The Rollatini itself was rolled chicken with cheese inside and bread crumbs that were falling apart from the chicken. It almost look like potato Croquettes. Another disappointment. I can't speak for the dining experience since I actually never ate in the restaurant, always delivery or pick-up, yeah, I can't believe it either. But anyways the pizza, I think the secret is the sauce, it's just so delicious. I never feel satisfied when I order from other pizzerias. The pizza guys up front are always very nice and pleasant. Delivery can sometimes take a while, but not a big deal for me since I always see how busy they are. The most important thing is that the pizza is still hot upon delivery. read more

I'm currently on a re-watch of The Sopranos and since 85% of that show is people eating Italian food, I began to crave it pretty hardcore. Naturally, that meant trekking down to Bay Ridge, where some of Brooklyn's best "red sauce restaurants" are located, and Gino's is no exception. Gino's is a white tablecloth establishment, perfect for a nice family meal, a date, or in my case, a late lunch on a weekday. I was not disappointed in my meal and my craving was more than satisfied. I started off with the baked clams, which are served practically swimming in a garlicky broth and melted butter that is perfect for dipping your bread in after. I love ordering baked clams because, to me, it is the quintessential Italian appetizer. It's not too filling, packed with flavor, and if the clams are cooked just right, it is every bit satisfying. Gino's clams were delicious, although juuuuust slightly overdone, therefore a bit chewy. This did not take anything away from the dish, however. It was a great way to kick things off and I practically could hear the Sopranos theme song in my head while I speared through each clam with my fork. For my entree, I went with the chicken parm, a tried and true dish that may never become a cliche. Gino's handled this well. The portion, first off, was **generous**. A heaping serving of al dente spaghetti (or you can choose ziti) acted as the Carmela to the chicken's Tony. And speaking of that chicken, delicious! Pounded down to a beautifully thin cutlet, then lightly fried and blanketed with red sauce and gooey mozzarella cheese. Needless to say, I was full and satisfied, like a made man! We have been looking for a new spot in Brooklyn for old school Italian ever since New Corner closed, and made a reservation to check out Gino's after walking the Dyker Christmas Lights. Gino's has been around since 1964, so not quite the same as a place that has been around since the 1930s. We came on a busy night, but with a reservation and were seated right away. There seemed to be several dining rooms, including rooms that look like they are available for private parties/celebrations. We started with a hot antipasto, a side order of meatballs and an additional order of baked clams, in order to get an overall sense of the food. Baked clams were solid, meatballs were big and in a denser tomato sauce than the dipping marinara for the fried squid. Eggplant Rollatini was excellent, so much so, that I ended up ordering it for my main. Other people at my table ordered; A sausage pizza-Fantastic Chicken Piccatta-Loved it! Orecchiette with sausage-Great! And I absolutely loved my additional plate of 4 rollatinis We passed on dessert, as there are a LOT of Italian bakeries in the area which we had stopped in at in advance of dinner (Yikes!)
