Our waitress Leslie was rude and careless. We got the spinach and artichoke dip and the chips that came with it were very stale. So I let her know that the chips were a little stale and that some newer chips would be nice if possible. She listened, said nothing, then came back with a little bowl of the same chips... still without a word. Besides our waitress, I got the pulled pork sliders and it was a mess. The insides were all over and they gave us all straight up Lays chips. Every other time we've come they had they're signature fries with the same meal but we got Lays. Would not recommend coming here. You may get lucky and have a good meal, or you may have a terrible visit. So unpredictable. read more

I love love love this place. My only complaint is they are not open on Sundays when I have a craving for their California Ruben. They really have something for everyone - when I was pregnant and had to sadly stay away from cold deli meat, their Alpine Veggie was an excellent substitute. I have visited here with my family that lives in Grand Rapids. It's a quaint building in a very cute area. We ordered our sandwiches, etc., and sat right down. This place is great. Awesome sandwiches, salads, and soups. Everything I have tried I have enjoyed very very much. The latest trip I tried the chicken salad sandwich on white bread, the broccoli Deli salad, and a GIANT piece of carrot cake. The sandwich was tasty, as always, the broccoli salad was the perfect combination of sweet and crunchy, and the carrot cake was quite possibly the best carrot cake I have EVER had in my life. Good food and fast friendly service. Two of us had their fish and chips. Both very pleased.

We ordered take out - a reuben and a philly steak hoagie. Both items came with homemade chips. The reuben was put on top of pickles and when opened after getting the order home, the bread was totally soaked with pickle juice. Both sandwiches had little to no taste as there was little cheese. The reuben had little saurekraut and the "philly" had few onions and limited cheese. The chips were heavily salted and seasoned heavily with pepper. We won't be returning. read more

This is by far the BEST sandwich place I've been to in West Michigan. The bread is freshly baked and amazing. I'm the type of person who could eat bread all day long given the perfect conditions - fresh, soft, and flavorful. The rye bread here definitely met all requirements. I got the Reuben sandwich on rye and could not put the sandwich down. The portions are huge as you really shouldn't finish off an entire sandwich in one sitting but I most definitely did. The corned beef was tasty, but not too salty, and sauerkraut was just the perfect amount of sour. They didn't overdo it on the Thousand Island sauce which most places do. I've been to this establishment twice and it hasn't failed me yet. It feels like a nice homey sandwich shop but I'm told they serve dinner as well. I've been to the Fulton street location a few times and while it serves excellent food, the parking situation is usually a hassle. I also liked the Kentwood location, but since Dorothy and Toto got sucked away in the 2014 F-1 baby tornado, it's "No soup for YOU" at that location. I finally tried the Ada location yesterday and I liked it best. It's really strange having a second floor restaurant in a small town, especially when they serve booze. I wonder if anyone has ever cartwheeled down the stairs after one too many libations. Anyway, the atmosphere is more quaint than the others by far and with the bar on one side, it seems like a fun place to hang out for a few hours. The bar area is huge and they also have an upstairs outdoor patio. The parking situation is far better than on Fulton street and at 11:30am on Saturday, there was hardly anyone there. I had the Schnitz Rueben, which was very good, although not the absolute best I've had. The chicken noodle soup was also good but not overly memorable. They had Bells's Two Hearted on tap plus Blue Moon, plus Four Roses and Woodford Reserve bourbon, so that's respectable. How many delis serve Four Roses bourbon or a great beer? That alone puts this far above the other two locations, especially the Kentwood one since it's a pile of rubble. If you like claustrophobia inducing crowds, lousy parking, a marginal neighborhood, a lack of seating space and no quality beer and bourbon, go to the one on Fulton. If you like safe and ample parking, lots of room, quality drinks and a nice patio, go to the Ada location. read more

I loved this place! Visited while on business at the advice of a native and we were not disappointed. Good local selection of beer, great service, fun atmosphere, and the food was outstanding. The standouts were the gorgonzola dip appetizer - oh my gosh, I could've eaten an entire plate of the stuff! And my entree was blackberry spinach with fruit and nut couscous with sauteed spinach - it was absolutely amazing. Seriously one of the best meals I've had in a long time! read more

Schnitz has an awesome selection of deli sandwiches. The "half" sandwich is actually what most would consider a whole (2 whole pieces of bread) and the "whole" sandwich just has more meat on it. However, I ate dinner on the sit down restaurant side last week and was really disappointed. I ordered the chicken marsala. The portion was small and the piece of chicken I got was not of the highest quality. Also the potatoes tasted like dirt. Maybe they didn't get washed?? Not sure why it's taken us almost a year to try this place since moving to the area...it's one of the best restaurants in Grand Rapids Metro. Food is fresh, great happy hour specials, and LOVE the plethora of amazing salad selections offered. That is definitely a highlight for me! Food has always been cooked beautifully (perfect hard boiled eggs, perfect salmon-skin removed). My husband raves about the Aglio e Olio and the Spinach dip is a must try. They also have a fish taco appetizer which is a perfect bite for two or a good option for a light meal. I can't wait to sample everything on this menu! Visited for the first time yesterday and did we find a gem. Extremely welcoming place that is accompanied by great food and service. I was feeling something homely so went for the beef pot roast. After taking my first bite, I felt like I was sat in a pub back home in England. Waitress was courteous and payed attention to all of our needs. Yah Schnitz! Schnitz on Fulton, Schnitz on Ada, Schnitz on the South side, Schnitz Bakery, and Common Ground coffee house. One group, five awesome. My favorite sandwich at the Deli is the Hair of the (Mrs.) Dog... smoked ham, dill havarti, lettuce, tomato, & Mrs. Dog's mustard on grilled sourdough... oh man! Sweet, tangy, little sour, some spice. I get mine with extra tomato and sometimes with onion too. And on the side the always obligatory cole slaw, and for dessert one of their amazing and famous brownies... and these are how I like my brownies... not too cakey, not too sticky, and the taste of REAL chocolate. In fact, now that I'm writing about it, I'm going to stop by and get one before I leave Grand Rapids for San Diego on Monday... a MUST! I'm so proud of these folks for growing and developing the way they have. It's always nice to see the locals do something that chains and hospitality groups driven by investors and hunger for growth over quality just can't compete on. As I said, yah! Tip: order the halves, as a full sandwich will not just render you into a food coma, it will kill you! Great little place... very classy! Ada Grill is the right place for any kind of taste buds. Can get very pricey depending on the time of day and the kind of food you like. Salads are great, burgers are HUGE and apparently they have a great selection of alcohol. It's a great atmosphere with the out door balcony overlooking downtown Ada. This is a warm, friendly eatery that we know as the "Ada Grill." The Deli is located above a very cool bike shop (another review) and offers great lunches and excellent dinners. It's one of our favorite spots to eat. The environment is pleasant with tables near a fireplace, booths that share space with local artwork, beautiful hardwood floors, large windows and strategically placed decorative lights. In the warm season, we eat on the deck which overlooks part of the quaint downtown of the village of Ada. The servers are first rate. They know their food. They make good recommendations. They take care of their customers and are pleasant. The food is very tasty. We enjoy their delicious sandwiches (particularly their Reubens), the Fish and Chips, and specials, such as the four (or was it five) cheese Macaroni and Cheese. We enjoy this restaurant and recommend it heartily. read more

We have eaten here several times and while it's mostly good we have had some not so good. We got a couple sandwiches take out recently and they were really good. The chicken salad is a favorite. The sandwiches come with chips and in my family's opinion the chips are terrible. I think maybe they're kettle chips but I can't really tell. We love this restaurant. But we've experienced fairly inattentive, immature and borderline rude hostesses. We walked out tonight after being ignored for 10 minutes and talked down to. We love coming to Ada grill but we won't be back until there is a vaccine. Servers wear their masks under their noses and even though the sign says no mask no service customers walk around without masks socially interacting with other tables and at best the tables are only 3 feet apart. I will say that the attention to cleaning is most satisfactory. Food was delicious but it does not make up for the lack of following pandemic protocols. read more

This is a great spot for a casual lunch or dinner. They have good sandwiches and a nice selection of drinks. It's sort of a deli during the day, you place your order at the counter and then seat yourself. Dinner is host-seated but still very casual. My only complaint is they don't have a changing station in the bathroom, so I had to change a diaper in the hall which isn't ideal. read more

First the bad. Can't blame the waitress, ordered our meals of soup and French Dip sandwiches with au just. Soup came first, it took a good 15 minutes before our sandwiches were served. Sandwiches came out cold and waitress advised the cook forgot to make the au jus. Waitress went to have cook make up au jus. By the time that was served we had to send sandwiches back to be reheated. The good part, the soup was awesome and the sandwiches were great. Owner/ manager cane out and without excuses apologized and offered dessert on the house. We chose the Carrot Cake, again it was great! It was good to see an establishment take responsibility for poor service and rectify it. read more
