Love this place! I've now been to the Grand Rapids location multiple times, and I keep coming back for a reason. It's a cozy little space on Michigan Street with takeout, pick-up and dine-in options. The food is great and the service has always been very friendly. I've sampled multiple menu items and have not had a bad one yet. While the French Dip and Italian Bomber are good, I have been gravitating towards their burgers, which are exceptional. My boys and I have tried over 40 places for burgers in the GR area, and this is one of our very favorites. Good LORD this place knocked my socks off. After hearing my vegetarian girlfriend RAVE about their grilled cheese, I finally gave in and decided to give The Toasted Pickle a shot. And by god, was I impressed. It's a small little sandwich shop off of Michigan Ave that has seating for maaaybe 20 people. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich to go, and when I got home to open my box, my jaw dropped. These guys put not one, but TWO mf chicken breast cutlets on this poor, poor bun. Topped with delicious house made pickles (their namesake), a fresh and tangly slaw, and a spicy oily sauce, this thing was a behemoth. And for, like, $15?? This is two meals for the average person. My only complaint was that the bun simply could not shoulder the monstrous burden of what it contained. Additionally, dude the fries are phenomenal. And they absolutely LOAD you up. Get the truffle upcharge, it's worth it I promise. I have been a Two Beards fan for the better part of the past 15 years, but man, in terms of value, The Toasted Pickle takes the cake. We love The Toasted Pickle at Grand Haven. The line is always a mile long there so I was expecting a wait at this newer location. It was busy for sure with all seats full inside. We decided to get our order to go. The restaurant was clean. The service was fast. We tried a couple of the sandwiches that had turkey - Long Tall Sally and Sixie from Dixie. Both sandwiches were stuffed with plenty of meat. One was on the gluten free bread. And the bread actually had good flavor but was literally dripping with butter. Way too much butter. The other sandwich had no issues and was delicious as usual. The pickles were all very soggy and not that great this time. Overall, they were great! It was our first time trying the gluten free bread but next time I would tell them to lighten up on the butter. Otherwise, I will be coming back to try more. We really enjoy the Grand Haven location, so we were excited to see a new location in Grand Rapids. I ordered online and made my way over to the restaurant to pick our order up. I received the, "Order Ready" text right as I pulled in. They make it very clear to not pull into the drive thru until you receive that text but the parking lot is very tight so this can be kinda tricky. The guy working the window was very friendly and my food was waiting for me. I really enjoyed The Hooker, which is their fish sandwich. I also had a cup of spicy corn chowder, which was delicious. My wife had a half salad and half sandwich while we shared an order of truffle fries. Honestly, we really enjoyed all of the food. The prices are definitely steep. In total, we had a cup of soup, 1 full sandwich, 1 half sandwich, half a salad, and fries. Our total came out to $50 for two people for lunch. We would have it again. read more

It has recently opened, so we expected a bit of a wait, but online ordering in the platform was very straightforward and sends a text when food is ready which was convenient. The interior was clean and efficient for pickup. We had a turkey sandwich, stacked Mac, fries and a pickle to share. It was a ton of food. The Mac did surprise me and was super tasty. I've had The Toasted Pickle in both Rockford and Grand Haven before, so it's exciting that they opened this location much closer to my house. I stopped in during their first week open and ordered some lunch. They currently aren't taking online orders as it seems like they've been pretty slammed with people coming in, especially around the lunch rush. There were a few people in line ahead of me, which gave me time to browse the menu. I ordered the half Dixie from Sixie, the Smokin' Dragon, and an order of their beer battered fries. They let me know that I'd get a text when my order was ready, which I could pick up in the drive through or inside. I went back to my car to wait - it was about 20 minutes until I got the text, and it took a few minutes for them to greet me at the drive through, but again, it was their first week open and they were BUSY! The food was as delicious as I remembered from my other visits - the sandwiches were stuffed and even the half sized sandwich was large for me. (Their half sized sandwiches are a smaller version, not just half the meat.) Prices are very reasonable and in line with other similar sandwich shops (like Schnitz Deli). The quality of the food was great and their fries are awesome. I will definitely be back! P.S. Yes, parking kind of sucks, and they don't have a ton of space to dine in. You can pay to park in the lot behind Grand Coney across the street, or find street parking on Michigan or the side streets. read more

This was my first time trying any of the Toasted Pickle locations, and I ordered takeout via Toast. The food was ready on time within 20 minutes. The milkshake was kept cold, which I appreciated, and the oreo flavor was delicious. The cuban sandwich was unique; not exactly traditional, but good flavor! The housemade pulled pork wasn't mind-blowing, but good. I liked the amount of bacon on it, as well as the sweet&spicy pickled and aioli. Really my only complaint is the truffle fries were not impressive. I didn't taste any truffle, although the fries themselves were OK. I don't think the pimento cheese pairs well with the truffle fries, so maybe I'd try the other dip next time, if anything. There are a few other sandwiches I definitely want to try, plus with the yummy milkshakes, I will order here again. read more

We're super excited that the Toasted Pickle is now in Grand Rapids! Whenever we visit Grand Haven, we often stop at the Toasted Pickle for delicious sandwiches. This time, our visit to their new location was for Poutine Week, and it was great to check out the new place. It's has a cozy, hole-in-the-wall feel, and the counter service reminds me of old sandwich delis. Their contribution to Poutine Week took a deviation from traditional poutine with their Triple Pickle Poutine. We also enjoyed taking shots of pickle juice while waiting for our food. I'm impressed with the number of tables they were able to cram into the former Mai's Thai shop, but, when it's crowded, things get cramped in there. Definitely better as a pick-up restaurant than a sit down. Food has been average so far: the sandwiches are not memorable but they're good enough. Lots of room to improve, and I hope they will! Incredible addition to a town with an already great food scene. We've always enjoyed the Toasted Pickle in Grand Haven and were thrilled to see this today. I can't name many places that have pickle juice dispensers at the front of the restaurant! Anyways, the store just opened and the staff is getting their legs but everyone working there was super friendly and willing to make the experience great. There is adequate seating inside with a pretty nice renovated interior but the drive through addition just sweetens the deal. This was a soft open, but I can see some major pains. One, the shop is small. Maybe 6 tables, very cramped. Parking is small. They need outside tables. Two, cost is EXPENSIVE! 4 people was $80!! $20 a person for a sandwich?? They are good but not $20 good. IDK, I would eat again but it wouldn't be my first place to head to. The salad was ok but lacked ingredients. Most of it was greens. My friend had a sandwich and she said it was very good. All you get is a pickle with your sandwich, fries etc. are extra. They are pricey for what you get. Seating is limited in the winter but in the summer they have a nice deck area. Employees were very friendly. read more
