"The Hooker" (fish sandwich) and cup of Spicy Corn Chowder
    Kyle V.

We really enjoy the Grand Haven location, so we were excited to see a new location in Grand Rapids. I ordered online and made my way over to the restaurant to pick our order up. I received the, "Order Ready" text right as I pulled in. They make it very clear to not pull into the drive thru until you receive that text but the parking lot is very tight so this can be kinda tricky. The guy working the window was very friendly and my food was waiting for me. I really enjoyed The Hooker, which is their fish sandwich. I also had a cup of spicy corn chowder, which was delicious. My wife had a half salad and half sandwich while we shared an order of truffle fries. Honestly, we really enjoyed all of the food. The prices are definitely steep. In total, we had a cup of soup, 1 full sandwich, 1 half sandwich, half a salad, and fries. Our total came out to $50 for two people for lunch. We would have it again.

After a day of running errands we decided to place a pick up order for lunch on our way home. It has recently opened, so we expected a bit of a wait, but online ordering in the platform was very straightforward and sends a text when food is ready which was convenient. The interior was clean and efficient for pickup. We had a turkey sandwich, stacked Mac, fries and a pickle to share. It was a ton of food. The Mac did surprise me and was super tasty. Also liked their fries - definitely try some of their yummy sauces too, so good! Overall a good edition to the GR area.

Beer battered fries, half Sixie from Dixie, smokin' dragon

I've had The Toasted Pickle in both Rockford and Grand Haven before, so it's exciting that they opened this location much closer to my house. I stopped in during their first week open and ordered some lunch. They currently aren't taking online orders as it seems like they've been pretty slammed with people coming in, especially around the lunch rush. There were a few people in line ahead of me, which gave me time to browse the menu. I ordered the half Dixie from Sixie, the Smokin' Dragon, and an order of their beer battered fries. They let me know that I'd get a text when my order was ready, which I could pick up in the drive through or inside. I went back to my car to wait - it was about 20 minutes until I got the text, and it took a few minutes for them to greet me at the drive through, but again, it was their first week open and they were BUSY! The food was as delicious as I remembered from my other visits - the sandwiches were stuffed and even the half sized sandwich was large for me. (Their half sized sandwiches are a smaller version, not just half the meat.) Prices are very reasonable and in line with other similar sandwich shops (like Schnitz Deli). The quality of the food was great and their fries are awesome. I will definitely be back! P.S. Yes, parking kind of sucks, and they don't have a ton of space to dine in. You can pay to park in the lot behind Grand Coney across the street, or find street parking on Michigan or the side streets.

The Italian Bomber has some kick to it

Love this place! I've now been to the Grand Rapids location multiple times, and I keep coming back for a reason. It's a cozy little space on Michigan Street with takeout, pick-up and dine-in options. The food is great and the service has always been very friendly. I've sampled multiple menu items and have not had a bad one yet. While the French Dip and Italian Bomber are good, I have been gravitating towards their burgers, which are exceptional. My boys and I have tried over 40 places for burgers in the GR area, and this is one of our very favorites. The Pickle Poppers and Truffle Fries are tasty sides and the 'Pickle Dippin' Sauce' is quite addictive.

FAAAANNNNTTTAAAAAASSSSTTTTTIIIIIIICCC! I was in town for work and went two days in a row. I got The Hooker the second day and it was my first ever sandwich that needed eaten with a knife and fork.

    Oreo Milkshake

This was my first time trying any of the Toasted Pickle locations, and I ordered takeout via Toast. The food was ready on time within 20 minutes. The milkshake was kept cold, which I appreciated, and the oreo flavor was delicious. The cuban sandwich was unique; not exactly traditional, but good flavor! The housemade pulled pork wasn't mind-blowing, but good. I liked the amount of bacon on it, as well as the sweet&spicy pickled and aioli. Really my only complaint is the truffle fries were not impressive. I didn't taste any truffle, although the fries themselves were OK. I don't think the pimento cheese pairs well with the truffle fries, so maybe I'd try the other dip next time, if anything. There are a few other sandwiches I definitely want to try, plus with the yummy milkshakes, I will order here again.

Triple Pickle Poutine (Poutine Week special)
    Rayce P.

We're super excited that the Toasted Pickle is now in Grand Rapids! Whenever we visit Grand Haven, we often stop at the Toasted Pickle for delicious sandwiches. This time, our visit to their new location was for Poutine Week, and it was great to check out the new place. It's has a cozy, hole-in-the-wall feel, and the counter service reminds me of old sandwich delis. Their contribution to Poutine Week took a deviation from traditional poutine with their Triple Pickle Poutine. We also enjoyed taking shots of pickle juice while waiting for our food. We're excited for the chance to go back and try some of their regular menu items at the new location.

French Dip and Dragon Fruit Lemonade
    Stuart B.

Excellent sandwich! Hot French Dip on a cold day hits the spot. Dragon Fruit Lemonade tastes great but wish they had hot drinks on a subzero day like today. Plenty of comfy seating and very pleasant service from the staff. I plan to return often.

Toasted pickle has some of the best and most unique options in the area! The portions are generous especially for the price. The truffle fries are a must try and you can't go wrong with the long tall Sally or famous green goddess. Everything's is made super fresh and you can taste the quality in every ingredient.

Green Goddess - so good. The goat cheese makes the whole thing

Back again - this place is going to be a problem for my heath. Very good and have been impressed.

    1/2 chicken hot sandwich

Yes, that is the thinnest "1/2" chicken I've ever seen. This is criminal!!! lol Chick-Fil-A's hot chicken sandwich has 5x more chicken in it and is 1/2 the cost of this sandwich.

Alec +turkey. Paid 3+ extra for turkey and didn't receive turkey.

The menu is still huge and very overwhelming, but for this visit, I just decided what type of sandwich I wanted (turkey, ham, roast beef, corned beef, pastrami, chicken, sausage, vegetarian, vegan, or salad) and I knew I wanted it grilled. From there I mostly looked at the starred favorite options and went with the #35 Hulihee: Corned beef, pastrami, cheddar, caramelized onions, roasted tomato, garlic mayo on white or wheat. Most of the sandwiches come in half or whole sizes - the half is just a smaller version. For an extra $2 I went with the whole. The menu also includes soup options and salads. They'll give you a table number if you're dining in and then bring your order out to you. The sandwich was toasted and hot, and had a generous amount of meat. I didn't notice all of the other ingredients (I don't think I had any tomato? And didn't really taste a lot of cheddar), but it was saucy and tasty. I really enjoyed this sandwich and I'm glad I went back!

The space is small and seating was a bit cramped. I wouldn't cone with more than 3 people max if you are hoping to be able to sit. But great if you want to grab it and head home. Shop was very loud due to the small space, music playing and people talking but thats expected. For me the cost seemed a bit high. The sandwiches just come on a standard size bread you would make at home and most of the options are just various ways to make a grilled cheese. And while they taste good, they are still $10 or more for a grilled cheese. Same for the soups, they taste good and lots of choices but for the small (12oz) you are still paying $8 or more. Which means even for just a standard grilled cheese and tomato soup you are spending $18 or more so it feels a bit expensive at that point. I had a Ruben (on standard sized bread) and a pastrami soup for $23. Also, no real need to upgrade for a $1 for the roll to come with your soup. Not really anything special about it. But again overall it did taste good on a cold day. Just which the cost was slightly lower and seating didn't feel cramped.

But why not try their signature root beer. I don't regret it one bit). My cousin and I sat at the bar, and you can get full service at the bar. She ordered a hot dog and I had a pizza. The hot dog came with that weird neon relish, in typical Chicago fashion, and was on a poppyseed bun. The fries are crinkle cut, and I don't know what seasoning they use, but it was so good! A little sweetness mixed in with the spices. The pizza was good; thin crust and cut square style like they do in Chicago, which I forgot about and kind of hate. I should've asked for silverware, but didn't. Next time I'd ask for it pie cut instead. The flavor was really good though. It was a bit pricey for what it was - it was a 12" pizza, and each topping an additional $3. $21 just seems high to me for a thin crust pepperoni mushroom pizza. I had draft beer and my cousin had a mixed drink. She had no complaints about hers, and mine was quite good! So many places draft beer tastes a little soapy, whether it's the way the clean their lines or how they wash their glasses, but I didn't taste any of that here. There aren't many choices on draft but was a good variety. They also have a full bar and lots of canned beverage choices. They don't have the healthiest menu, but that's not surprising since they're known for Chicago hot dogs, Italian beef, and pizza. If you know what you're going for it's perfect! The vibe is good. The space is pretty open, gets a decent amount of light, is clean, and there is parking! The restrooms are tiny, but clean, and I appreciate that after you wash your hands the door opens out so you don't have to touch a handle. We went on a Monday after work, which does turn into karaoke night, but we had time for a couple drinks and food before that really got going. It also wasn't crazy in there and we could still carry on a conversation at the bar without having to yell. I'm glad I finally made it in, and fully appreciate having them in the North Monroe area. I will definitely plan to have more happy hours here!

When I walked in, the place was packed. It's a small space, and it was bustling around 1 pm. I was noticed by a kind employee who let me sit at a cozy booth. The menu is huge and includes tons of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and salads. It was tough to choose but I went with the Irish reuben (grilled pastrami, corned beef, bacon, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, thousand island on marble rye). Sandwiches come with chips, or you can upgrade to fries (regular, sweet potato, or Southwestern dipping fries) - I went with the Southwestern dipping fries, which are seasoned potato wedges. My food came out quickly and I was amazed at the large portions. It was a full basket of fries and a sandwich that would equal two full sandwiches elsewhere. The sandwich was super hot and delicious and packed with meat. I think it's one of the tastiest reubens I've had in awhile. The fries were good, but I think I prefer regular fries. Glad I got to try them, though. They have a daily special where a specific item is discounted, which makes it an affordable option for lunch. I was there on a Tuesday so the special was a spicy fried chicken sandwich or wrap for $12 served with chips or fries. That's a great deal! I will definitely be back for one of their specials. The employees I interacted with were all very friendly and kind and working really hard. I always appreciate good customer service and I found that here. Finally, they serve beer and wine, so if you want a drink with lunch, that is an option as well. The only downside is the small dining area, so I wouldn't say it's great for large groups, and they are only open Monday through Friday for lunch. Luckily I have a flexible schedule, so I'll be back for lunch again soon!
