I've gotten food from this place for a long time out, it's on the way out to the lake and food usually takes about 12 min if you don't order ahead. I usually just get ham, Pickles, lettuce, mayo and mustard on plain bread. I always get it rogue style, it makes the sandwich 10x more delicious. I've gotten it regular na dits not the same. The sandwiches are also pretty large, so you can save some for another meal as well. Highly recommend this local sandwich shop! read more

Jenison Boardwalk Subs made a panini out of my French Dip sandwich. And then they dared to give me a half cup of the au jus. $15 for a load of vomit food. The restaurant employees hurried me through the ordering process. "Order here," they said when I came in. "Pay here," after I ordered and was looking at their crappy flickering on-screen menu. I was considering another purchase. It wasn't even busy at the time I came in. They didn't have to press me to pay. The employees here at the Jenison Boardwalk Subs store put me in a bad mood. I'll admit that they were young stupid people who didn't know how to make sandwiches, but I was looking for a good sandwich shop. I'll look elsewhere. The worst thing about this experience was that I vomited out the sandwich. A full vomit experience. I don't know if it was their roast beef or the au jus. It tasted okay going in. It's nice to vomit in the middle of the night, examine the food you vomited out, and say, "Yes, that's the Jenison Boardwalk Subs food!" They need to keep their hygiene. It was just so disgusting. This was our first time trying boardwalk subs and our first impression was not great. We walked into the store and it was dead, but they seemed to be in the midst of making some online orders. We were not greeted because the three employees behind the counter were too busy giggling and having a conversation about someone's uncle turning someone gay. We waited patiently and after about 2 minutes they finally acknowledged us and said hello. The one guy asked what we wanted and we told him. He started slicing the bread but the gal next to him had questions about a few subs she was making so they stood there and went back and forth confused about what subs were what and needed what toppings. After 5 minutes of debating the guy looked back at us and asked again what we wanted so we reminded him. He started making our subs and halfway through he asked again to clarify what we wanted, so again we reminded him. The customer service at this store is lacking quite significantly, but thankfully the food was pretty decent and the prices weren't insane. However, we probably will not be back because you can get the same sandwich from a number of other places around town with much better customer service. read more

There are literally a dozen places in town where I can get a sub sandwich, but there is only one place I WANT to get it from and it's Boardwalk subs. First off its a sub shop. Not gourmet dining but every time I have been there its been clean, the kids behind the counter(because lets face it this is the type of place to get your feet wet in the world of employment) have been polite and the service has been good. Yes sometimes the workers chit chat a bit and yes sometimes there is a line. I am totally fine with that because all the fresh slicing of meat and cheese makes it worth it. Their subs range from the super simple to the everything but the kitchen sink. I love their toppings and they are so generous with them. Once at another sub place I wont mention but rhymes with Ubhay I asked for black olives and the dear worker actually put on 3 little pieces and said that was "per the sub recipe" ha. So at boardwalk when you ask for black olives you get heaping handfuls of nicely minced (olives, pickles, onions whatever). Their bread is fresh and their sauces are nice. One of the best things is that if you take the time to look through your junk mail in Grand Rapids you can usually find a buy one get one free coupon which makes this place a heck of a deal. read more

They don't have a whole lot of toppings but they have decent ones. The pickles are chopped up not whole pickles which I thought was interesting. Some of the best subs I've ever had have come from Boardwalk. The subs are HUGE and there's a wide variety to choose from (26 listed on the menu). I often get two meals just from one full size sub. The meats and cheese are sliced right in front of you and the veggies are always fresh. There's a variety of sauces to choose from too which allows you to add some different flavors to your sub. I got the #9, extra salami on wheat as a delivery order from a food delivery service. The sub is delicious--the meat is fresh, the veggies are to order (some light, some standard), the condiments are well placed. Delicious. I saw from other reviews that the sub is big and I figured it would be a two-meal situation. I'm not trying to take down a 15" sub in one sitting. Here's what blew me away. I asked in the comments field if they could only put veggies on half. That's it. What I got: a bag with two individually wrapped parcels, one marked veggie, one not, and a tub of the veggies I ordered for the next day. That's amazing service and I didn't expect or ask for it. But tomorrow for lunch I'll have the other half with non-soggy lettuce. read more
