I've gone to the downtown deli for over 20 years and it's been my favorite deli ever since. However I recently heard that the Ada Grill version has a very good burger. So I ordered the Cowboy Burger ($16). This has two 4 oz burger patties grilled, topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, haystack onions & bbq sauce. It was very good. For Local-ish Burgers it just cracks my top 10. It come with chips, but I upgraded to fries ($3.5). They definitely aren't worth an additional almost 4 dollars. They are good, but also nothing special. I also ordered my favorite deli sandwich of the Phil J ($15.50) to go. It was as good as the downtown location, however I felt ripped off. There was about half the normal chicken salad on it. Also the chips don't travel well if you're refrigerating it for later. The service was excellent. Very friendly and provided quality service. Overall a 4 1/2 star review. Since I have to round, it becomes a 4 due to the small amount of meat on the deli sandwich. Would I return? Overall for the deli side I'll probably stick with downtown location, however for a good dinner yes I would come back.

When you walk up the stairs there is an ordering counter forward and to the left and they give you a number after you order and bring the food to your table. I'd get a different sandwich next time. Seems like a nice spot to have a casual lunch with friends and also a place you could hang at the bar for a while :) felt like a small town vibe which was fun.

The fries were good and didn't need any sauce to pair with it. Definitely recommend this unassuming deli, will be back.

I had read on a Facebook group about best Burgers in Grand Rapids that O'Briens was a couple of peoples favorite burger. I ordered the Rodeo Burger ($17). This is a burger with fried onion rings, bacon, lettuce, tomato, chipotle bbq, ranch dressing & melted Vermont cheddar cheese. The burger was good, but nothing special. The burger itself was tasty enough, but a little meh. The onion ring was very good, the veggies were fresh, the Chipotle Bbq sauce was meh. Overall an above average burger that hits the spot, but you won't have dreams of it. It came with a ton of excellent fries though. I couldn't eat them all, but I wanted too. The service was super friendly and very efficient. Kept my drink nice and full, I appreciate that. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? Yes, but I would try something else.

Came in this evening to get some dinner that wasn't a burger or pizza. It wasn't our first time and we were greeted promptly by a staff member. We talked for a moment while we looked at the menu which he told me was updated 3-4 weeks ago. Long story short, I ask if I can order some single items off the "extras" menu to put together some food since they got rid of their old platters and beef kabobs. Of course, they say yes and after a few more minutes of discussion, we put in an order and have a sear. 10 minutes later, our food is done and the staff member brings over our food. I say thank you and we head out. Once we get outside, I make the comment to my wife that the bag feels SO light. Once in the car, I hand it to her, and she agrees. We get home and open the bag (it's stapled at this point) to start unpacking - the portion sizes were ridiculous. So ridiculous in fact that I threw each container on the food scale to see how bad it actually was. Spoiler alert: inconsistent portion sizes, incredibly small for the cost, and not even what we expected to get. Photos attached - 2x 16 oz. rice orders, one 10.19 oz and the other 11.75 oz., 2x beef shawarma orders, one 4.13 oz., the other 2.68 oz., and finally, 2x chicken tawouk, one 6 oz., the other 4.37 oz. Total price, $33'ish dollars for two portions about the size of a Panda Bowl. So, I called the shop - the same person who rang us up and brought us our food picked up the call. I explained the issues and he was receptive. He apologized and asked what he could do to make it right. He also said that the portions are packaged off site (I assume at their other location) so it sounds like they just reheat precooked food vs. actually prepare it fresh. I told him that I appreciated the gesture but we wouldn't be back - the cost, the portion size, and now knowing it's essentially reheated leftovers is enough for me to drive a bit further, save a couple bucks, and have an actual meal.

The space is large and easily visible from 28th street. It's a little off the main road so there's ample parking and it feels less hectic. I was greeted and easily helped to my table. The server we had, Colleen, was an absolute pro. She was soooo much fun and did everything to make sure we had a great time. She had such a wonderful energy and really helped to make sure we all had a great time. The food was good, I liked that some of the options were more interesting than the typical local Italian fare but still made sure to include the classics. The menu was on these large ipads which was somewhat offputting to me and we realized later that you could tap on the items to learn more about each dish. I personally prefer physical paper menues but it was definitely a talking point.

Pietro's looks the part, but the kitchen is lost in translation…read more Remember that feeling of ordering a Western dish abroad and getting something that looks right but tastes totally alien? That's Pietro's. Walking in, the aesthetic is spot-on--clean, bright, with a reassuring wine and pasta shop that screams Luca's delicatessen. Once the food hits the table, however, the illusion fades into what feels like cafeteria-level execution. The Coffee: If you're craving a proper Italian brew like Lavazza, skip it. The "Italian blend" here is an undefinable mix from Canada. Crab Stuffed Mushrooms: Promised Hollandaise, but delivered a texture closer to condensed soup, dominated entirely by black pepper. Not much crab or Hollandaise flavor. Chicken Paisano: A muddy flavor profile where only the prosciutto managed to stand out. Again, the sauce felt heavy and processed rather than freshly made. The staff are incredibly pleasant and enthusiastic, but there's a clear disconnect from the food's cultural roots. For a place boasting an old-country immigrant origin story, the current drift is disappointing. Don't get me wrong--I was hungry, and I ate every bite. But not even a toe of mine stepped into Italy that night.
